Introductions:
The sun was setting and the shadows cast by the cliffs and the spire were getting longer and almost appeared to crawl towards the dreaded darkness that was the disgeranian presence, as if it was trying to merge with it. Allistair Orephone looked upon the twisted nightmares the Dark Lands had thrown at his nations borders with disgust, his hand firmly resting upon his picks hilt. At the side of the General stood a young Paladin, devine in appearance, with hair as golden as the light of the sun, his eyes as clear as a diamond and a skin like bronze. Faithfully holding unto his master helmet the young Paladin interrupted the silence between the two.
"Milord, if it pleases, allow us to charge these curs from these holy lands, so that they may know the light." The General could detect the hatred and digust in the young man's voice, even though he sought to hide it. "Your fury is well understood son, but do not throw yourself into the shadow's maw just yet, they are not the only enemy worthy of your attention. Albeit not the dark and twisted abominations that are the Disgerani, they are heretics nonetheless." The old man pointed his hand towards a formation of warriors that took positions west of the spire. "But are they not human, what manner of foolishness drives one to reject the light and to oppose those whos claim is rightous?" The General looked at the young man with a faint smile, like a father would give his son for making a very naive comment.
"You will see lad, there are many men who claim that their cause is rightous, most of those that you see, think their cause is just as rightous as ours." "But they are wrong," the young man's face was distorted in anger, "a bunch of fools, blinded by false prophets and lies!" The old General smiled, this boy would make a fine General one day, he was pleased.
He turned around to face his army, what little forces could be spared form the other fronts was gathered here, Militiamen, all veterans of the last battle at Meron Pinnacle, many Archers to bolster their defensive positions atop the cliffs of the Spire, accompanied by Battle Priests and Paladins. The size of his army was worrying, but the superior defensive position was something that could tip the stones in their favor. However he knew that one mistake could mean the loss of everything.
Again turning towards the young man at his side,"lets join our men, the battle will soon begin."
The Herald was a nightmarish gaunt figure, taller than most man, with long slender arms, long bony fingers and a skin as gray as stone, only interrupted by dark blue and black veins. His slender figure was even more pronounced through the elaborate robes, that perfectly fit him, gaving him a stick like figure. With lips as black as coal, teeth like needles and eyes as of pure white, the man known as the Herald of Vasgerax truley was among the more fearsome beings among the Disgerani.
He moved through the ranks of his soldiers, it was no walk of an ordinary being, for his legs were not moving, rather he seemd to slide over the ground like black fog. Everyone, even the ascended soldiers kept their distance, cowering in fear of the Heralds gaze. One of the men could not help but whimper. The figure stopped and everyone seemed to stop breathing. "Are you afraid my child?" a voice like that of a loving, caring father left the Herlad's mouth, but raspy and wrong. The Herald turned his head askew as he turned towards the men, his face that of a worried person.
The man that had whimpered stood there, paralyzed by fear as the gaunt figure came towards him, the rest of the men quickyl scattered.
The Herald was towring over him, slowly extending one of his long arms. His bony fingers were touching the mans head gently, a knowing smile appeared upon the Heralds face. "I know that I ask much of you my child," he said, sounding like he regretted every word, "but you simply must fight, for your own good. If you die here on this forsaken land, your might even be able to find rest among the dead," his face turned to that of a lecturing teacher," but should you not, than there is a fate far worse than death that awaits you, my child. For I will harvest your soul and will torture it till the end of time," his face once again that of a loving father,"do you understand?".
The man could do nothing but nod, a sad smile crept upon the Heralds face as he turned around to move to his vantage point. He seemed satisfied with the position of his army, though the river was at their back and the Acheros army was occupying higher ground. However all these things did not matter, for his plan it was not important what positions his enemies took. All that mattered was that people died.
A thundering laughter could be heared among the man and woman that made up the frontline of the Aeregos forces. A man build like a mountain, his arms crossed seemed in good spirit. "This will be a glorious day. Or night, I don't care, for two of my enemies stand before me to be crushed beneath my heels!" The thought that he could kill two enemies of Aeregos with one stone made the man even more joyfull. His booming laugther raised the morale of the man around him, making them smile and burst with confidence.
He couldn't wait to finally charge his enemies, to crush their skulls and level their armies with his bare hands, for nothing excited the man known as Rai-Gonsuro more than to fight.
His army had left the small passage way out of Nin-Yhao and he had expected that Archeos would have fought them there, however as he looked upon the Disgerani south of him, he understood why they did not. But even with the spirit of his army lifted and him leading the charge, it appeared that his postion was the biggest disadvantage, they were trapped betweem two armies, on of which had the higher ground and no matter where he would turn, the other armies would be able to strike at those flanks. He brushed those thoughts aside. Pah, what does it matter, at some point, all of us have to attack. Better sooner than later! He thought to himself, he would not be defeated by these weaklings and would win this land with his own hands, of that much he was certain.
Bursting with confidence, he struck his two hands together, sending a small shockwave through the earth. It would be a good fight.
Battle Start:
The sun had nearly set and the night was soon to begin, however none of the armies had made a move yet, all were waiting for an opening. The spire was lit by a sea of torches and lanterns as was the entire top of the cliffs that framed the valley. The anticipating silence was broken by a booming voice, "ah come on! This is boring, we are here to fight, not to stare each other into the eyes," the voice of course belonged the hulking giant known as Rai-Gonsuro, who obviousely could not stand the waiting. "Fine, if you won't move, I WILL!" with these words said, the mountain of a man leaped forward carried by wake of earth towards the Disgerani forces, his men surprised but quick to follow, roaring their battle cries, as the mass of Aeregos army started to move, it became clear, that the battle had begun.

Hastur stood near the opening in the Archeos defences. The clawed tips of his chains hung just below his hands, Aleia's daggers already set within their housings. He looked down at the avian head which he carried on his belt, allowing the soothing light emerging from within it to calm him. He was excited to be here in truth. After the loss to the Ekro he had been depressed, almost suicidal again. But when the chance to fight the Disg heretics had shown itself his mood had completely reversed. This was a battle he knew Archeos would win. They held the high ground and had prepared themselves well. Their foes would be stupid to attack them first for it would leave them open to the other enemy. Hence they were forced to weaken themselves by fighting one another. As the boisterous Aeregonian general began the attack upon disg Hastur could only smile. "Watch our foes wear each other away before they crumble to dust against our wall men. Archeos has already won today."
Cruroar looks over the heretical armies of Aeregos and Disgeran. "Barbarians, heretics, and all demons alike. Only the form differs..." The priests gather at the front lines, blessing the troops, and chanting prayers. Cruroar joins them, chanting the litany of hate. "What is the fate of the heretic?" he says "To die!" Is the reply. "What is the fate of the demon?" "To die!" "What is the fate of the Sorcerer?" "To die!" "What is the fate of the unclean?" "To die!" "What is the fate of the mutant?" "To die!" "Burn the heretic! Smite the nonbeliever! Purge the unclean!" "Burn! Burn! Burn! Burn!" The priests, which he is a part of, but not their leader, manage to rile up the troops and ignite their fighting spirits. Cruroar Falconsflight, the Bringer of Hope, draws out his mace, lifting it's head into the air, as it ignites with the holy fire of Alu'Terasa. "I fear no evil, I fear no Death, For Alu'terasa shall protect me!"

Seritah walked in lazy circles as the assembled armies went about their usual bluster and intimidation factors, trying to can the mental advantages that would help in their favor. Seritah glanced up at the sun, it was on its path of waning, light was growing less, shadow was extending its fingers. Jealously taking what its twin had only moments before, Seritah was bored with this lack of action. He knew he was only a lowly nothing in this war, temporary cannon fodder for the cause. But when the moment came he would prove himself, he would make foes pause before rushing him.
Suddenly Rai-Gonsuro got sick of waiting, he bellowed something and leaped towards the Disgerani forces. Seritah was up and running, his sword Mercy was held by the hilt, still in its sheath. As he charged forward he saw Rai-Gonsuro landing and start his fighting. Seritah came towards the front lines of the Disgerani and he yelled something inconprehensible, drawing his sword from ots sheath and pulling the shield from his back. He ducked under an attack by a front line man...
The battle had begun.

The Herald was watching the children of the winged snake turning towards his forces. He was amused by the fact that Archeos would probably be in high spirits, seeing both their enemies going at each other first, wearing the other one down before Archeos even had to lift a finger. Of course they were not aware of his plan and so they could cling to their illusion of hope just a little while longer. When everything was over they would dread their strategy, for they would be among the dead and Meron Pinnacle would be in the hand of his masters.
He cracked a wicked smile, exposing his needlelike teeth turning towards one of his ascended champions. The warrior clad in scorched armor blew a horn, a twisted and ill sound that was like a dark beast was waking from its slumber ready to consume all who would get in its way. It was followed by a series of whip cracks and finally the horde was moving to meet the enemy.
As Rai-Gonsuro reached the enemy all that were unlucky enough to be somewhere near him, were tossed into the air as the very ground beneath their feet catapulted them into the sky. Those that were lucky enough to stay on the ground however did not fare any better, for they met the Cliff Breakers legs and fists, crushing bones or ripping men and beast asunder. Accompanied by the man's laughter this was a curious spectacle to behold.
The frontlines of both armies connected to each other and the battle couldn't have been more uneven, as the Aeregos Swordsmen and Stormwarriors cut down Heretics left and right and seldom lost one of their own. But such was the fate of all who were forced to serve the dark lands of Disgeran. However even if the soldiers of Aeregos did not met any serious opposition, it soon became clear that they would face a problem far greater than that. The horde was wearing them down and fast. Seritah could already see the signs of fatigue amongst the men in the frontlines.

After his initial cheer Hastur watched silently. As good as it was the 2 enemy forces were ripping each other to shreds he would have preferred to be destroying the disg himself. The temptation to break the line and make an attack upon the disg general was very inviting. However to do that he would have to cross a large amount of land exposing himself to not only disg forces but also aeregos ones. Instead he waited vigilantly keeping an eye on the powerful disg warlocks.
Cruroar was getting impatient, and it showed. One of his brother priests tried to calm him down, but Cruroar shook him off. "Thank you, brother, but now is not the time to be waiting." He opens his censer, and the pungent aroma of the holy incense begins wafting out. He then faces the troops. "Brothers! Why do we wait? Cowardly is the man who, when given the chance to smite evil, he does not! Weak is the man, who will not die for his faith! Why live for yourself, when you can die for AluTerasa?! Lets us fight, brothers! For Palion! For Nayamee! For all those others who fell in service! Or will you let their deaths be in vain? Will you stand back and watch, or will you join in? I say, we charge at them right now!"
He points to the armies fighting below. "They are weak! The Aeregosians, with their decadence and their flowery words. The Disgerani, with their heresy and sacrilege. We are strong! Our faith makes us powerful. Our faith, is the only truth! He who dies in this battle, shall be with Alu'terasa for eternity! Fight with me, brothers! Let us rain down our judgement upon them! We need to strike while the iron is hot! And it is indeed hot, for Alu'terasa shall burn them with his holy fire. Their souls are lost! Show no mercy! Give no quarter! None shall be given to you!"

Seritah watched Rai-Gonsuro move through the enemy as if they weren't anything worth his time, while his brothers of Aerogos were tiring from the long run to the enemy and the ensuing battle. Seritah waded through the enemy, making an attack only when necessary, he would move from one form to the other, his sword an extension of his will. Blood was like a brother glove to the steel of his sword, the Disgerani weren't seemingly challenging, were it for their numbers Rai-gonsuro could take this army with ease.
Seritah heard a voice in midst of battle, it was faint, looking up upon the mighty cliffs above him he saw the Archeos mustering as one of the priests were speaking as if at a sermon. Profaning about how the two forces below were inferior to their beliefs. Seritah shook his head and dodged a blow from a particularly lethal looking Disgerani swordsman. Seritah spun his sword and brought his shield up catching the next attack from the enemy. He thrust his sword under his shield taking the man in the stomach. He withdrew his sword and moved on towards the cliff as he expected the Archeos to come attack from.
Seritah raised his voice, he jnew he might speak upon deaf ears, as they were high above him, "You cowards! So eager to meet your gods? Mercy shall take you!"
Seritah chose a spot that was a good fighting point within the mass of flesh and steel, blood flying, limbs falling, screams roaring, and he smiled at it all. Fortune in war is for the bold. Seritah continued on with a vengeance, his blade feasting on the foe who dared test it...

Time seemed to have had lost its meaning in the deadly mealstorm of steel and flesh as the forces of Disgeran and Aeregos clashed with one another again and again. Men and women crazed by fear threw themself against the noble children of the winged serpent. However what was a stalwart defense now began to crumble as the sign of fatigue became more and more appearent, in fact the Aeregos line began to waver. Next to Seritah one of the Stormwarriors was brought down by a women holding an axe, he barely managed to pierce her neck with his dagger and to get back on his feet only to be attacked again.
Sharp, ragged rocks were bursting through the earths surface as Rai-Gonsuro directed the forces of the elements against the fiends of Disgeran. Crushing and tearing apart his enemies, however even the mighty Cliffbreaker would not be able to keep this up for much longer, his laughter was gone and instead did make way for troubled breathing. The man build like a mountain would soon reach his limit.
The soldiers of Archeos were uneasy, the enemy they sought to battle stood before them, some were even more anxious to charge the enemy as the others, incited by a zealous Battle Priest by the name of Cruroar. Those that listened to his speech were hellbent on charging the enemy right now. However before that could happen, they were silenced by a group of Paladins standing infront of them.
"Silence, brothers and sisters do not heed his words. True his words are just and his cause is rightous, but it is of importance that we follow the orders that were given to us. Is it not a virtue to uphold the divine order? Yes the radiant one smiles upon us and will guide us to victory, however he shalt not grant victory to the foolish. You must train yourself in the virtues of patience and control, otherwise you will endanger our holy cause." Though many of the men still harbored an urge to charge the enemy, the words of the Paladin had calmed them down. Giving the Battle Priest a sharp look, the Paladin turned around.
One of the men next to Cruroar pulled him aside. "They fear to die for our Lord, those high and mighty Paladins. Our hearts tell us to charge, how could one ignore such a clear command from our Lord? You must lead us, for you heed his words and ignited our fire, lead us to victory o' holy one." The men looked at him with anticipation.
The Herald turned around. Before him stood a group of disfigured men and women, all had their lips and eyes removed and were covered in ritual scars dressed in ragged robes, the lot of them were breathing heavy and it almost sounded like a snake hissing. The Heralds face once again shifted to that of a loving father," now my children it is time to fullfill your purpose and make me proud," all of them uttered sounds of joy and excitement and some were even shaking. Extending his arms as to embrace them all the Herald continued, "my children go forth and make me proud, grant our masters victory over those that seek to deny us paradise!"
In what boiled down to a series of mad and unearthly screams, they threw themselves into the fray, ready to take their place in their fathers plan. The Herald looked over to a group of warriors that surrounded some large metal crates, all of which were locked by thick metal chains. A wave of his hand gave the signal and the warriors removed the chains and opened the many locks that kept the crates secure. However after they were done, they were in a hurry to get away from the crates. Though not all of them were lucky enough to do so, one was killed gruesomely as the door he unlocked flew open and the beast that threw itself against him teared his head off. A twisted being that was foaming at the mouth, clad in black armor and riddled with painful looking hooks emerged, bigger than most ascended warriors and far more vicious.
The Herlad looked satisfied, his experiments turned out quite well. His reserve would put an end to Aeregos and if not, his plan would make sure his masters would be victorious.

Seritah looked around the battlefield, a storm warrior fell to a female warrior wielding an axe, Seritah ran over but he could only revenge his fallen comrade. He heard over the tumult of the battle the sound of Rai-Gonsuro's labored breathing, Seritah moving continuously so as not to get killed he approached Rai-Gonsuro. He wasn't as strong as the Cliff breaker, but he could lighten the load for the mountain of a man. Seritah came from behind a pair of Disgeran warriors, he thrusted his sword into the back of the first. When his sword wouldn't come back out he released the handle, scooping up the fallen Disgeran's fallen weapon. A simple Bo-Staff with a sword tip on each end, Seritah now sword and shield-less. (He had lost it some time ago.) He ran up next to Rai-Gonsuro, a crazed smile on his face, battlelust was in his eyes.
"We need to bolster our morale!" Seritah yelled with labored breath as he went into an offensive flurry with his new found weapon. "Crash a huge punch into the wall of that cliff. Bring those Archeos dogs down here, its about time those craven dogs joined the fray?"

Hastur walked over to the impatient soldiers being stirred on by a zealous priest. "Friends it is a virtue to die in service to our lord but we must remember not to throw our lives away in vain. If we were to charge now we would be abandoning our brothers who man the line behind us and exposing ourselves needlessly. Instead we should let our foes destroy themselves upon each other so that when we do charge our holy light overwhelms them and crushes them completely." He turned to the priest which had started all this, "Brother please do not speak so hastily. Our General, guided as he is by our Lord's light." has chosen for us to wait for a reason. Trust in him." With that he turned and walked away.
A few metres away he let out a shuddering breath. It had been all he could do to hold in his own hatred as he spoke, for he wanted nothing more to encourage a charge. But that would be a foolish action and he had to stop it. Their defences were too important to abandon and it would only cost lives to charge. For once his brain had overpowered his heart. As he heard the screams Hastur looked towards the battlefield and his face turned to horror to see the new threat Disg had brought. Perhaps they would not be so fast to charge heedlessly now.
Picking up the pace Hastur retook his spot at the front and touched a hand to the avian head, "Stand strong my brothers! There beasts may look fearsome but they will die if they dare to approach us!"
Cruroar places his hand on the man's shoulder. "I would love nothing more than that, brother, to charge. I fear not for my own life, and would smash against them until I die. I shall talk to the commander." He begins trudging across the line toward the general. "General Orephone! I must needs share words with you." He looks at the general with disdain, and fury. "How dare you have us rest our heels." He gestures toward the battle below. " Look! We should be down there. Look at how Aeregos wavers. Disgeran is distracted and Aeregos is weak! We must attack now! Sound the charge, if we wait too long, Aeregos or Disgeran might shore up their flanks." He points at Orephone and begins talking down to him. "Or would you let Palion's sacrifice be in vain? Would you show cowardice and wait for then to fight, and then when you finally do send our men to fight, it will be to their deaths because you failed to strike when Alu'Terasa commanded you? Do you know who is the true leader of Archeos? Alu'Terasa. He hath spoken to me, and now is the time to attack! Give the order."

The man by the name of Cruroar was barking at the General, but he did not pay heed to the young men's rant. The Paladins however did react to his disobedience. "You dare to speak in that manner to our General? Have you no shame? You would defy order and cast our army into disarray just so you can satisfy your own selfish lust for battle?" A young men spoke up, blessed with the appearence of a celestial child of the Radiant One. "You disgust me, you are a shame for the rightous Order of Battle." With an encompassing gesture he went on, " see these men. They are but peasents armed with pikes and swords, what little trained warriors we have are barely enough to hold this position and you would have us charge the enemy with these numbers? Are you insane?"
The Paladins around the battle priest gave him a look of disdain. As the General finally turned around and met the young men's eyes without any hint of anger or anything other than indifference. "You speak of war as if you would know it. You speak of our Lord as if you would know him or his intentions. You speak about sacrificing your life and to honor the death of our fallen brethren. Yet you fail to understand the situation we are in. Our army can't take any of them in a regular battle, we are too few for that. We are all that could be spared while the rest of our armies hold the shadows at bay up north. The Radiant One ordered us to hold this province and by our Lord that is what we will do. Should you interfere with this I will have you hanged for treason. Did you understand that?" His words were as cold as a winters eve.
Before that however Cruroar noticed a group of soldiers in tattered blue cloaks standing behind the General, about one hundred men strong, he did not recognize them or knew who they were. They were carrying large bundles with them, but he was not able to determine their content. The Paladins made it clear that they would not tolerate any further disturbance and made it clear that he Cruroar should return to his post. The General lifted his hand, "Archers prepare arrows," all the archers that were positioned along the ridge readied their bows. "Take aim... loose arrows!!"
The sun had completely vanished and the moon began to rise, bathing the massacre that went on on Meron Pinnacle plains in a cold and pale light. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=il1ofSQ10dw&list=PLC0ADC540C42F4EA6&index=109) A high pitched screeching noise however captured the attention of many that were fighting, those that would look up would see a hail of burning arrows like a cloud of fire that was decending on them. Fired at the core of both armies, the fiery projectiles made no distinction between Disgerani or Aeregosian, impaling and piercing men and beast alike, setting fire to the maelstorm of flesh and iron. The Aeregos army was hit hard when many of their Stormwarriors already drained from the prolonged combat were pierced by dozens of arrows, killing them on the spot. The frontline was breaking up and even the mighty Rai-Gonsuro could not stop it from happening. Realizing that, the giant of a men knew what he had to do, "curses, we can't hold. Retreat fall back to the pass!" He was covering his mens retreat by erecting a wall of solid rock infront of a large portion of the Disgerani army, forcing them to go around it, however this drained the last reserves of the men known as Cliffbreaker.
Seritah while retreating was able to make out some strange figures amongst the Disgerani forces even for their lot, they were chanting, with their eyes removed and daggers pointed at their hearts. With no regards for their surroundings, a sinister vibe was surrounding them, growing darker by the moment.
Though the Disgernai were hell-bent on destroying the Aeregos army, they also realized that now was the time to charge the front lines of Archeos and the assault shifted immdiately towards the pass that lead up towards the Spire all three factions were so focused on securing. Spearheaded by the vile beasts that the black iron crates had spit out the Disgerani encountered the first line of defense of Archeos. The force of this impact was almost enough to crush it, but the superior position of Archeos, as well as the fire support from the archers positioned upon the ridge prevented the line from collapsing.

Hastur shook his head at the hot headed priest going up to challenge the general himself. Even he had not been as reckless in his suicidal time. His patience was rewarded when fiery arrows rained down on the foolish armies. How they ever thought the idea of fighting in view of their foes was a good one was beyond him. "Now bring yourselves into our cleansing light fools." he hissed as the disg army re-orientated itself. As the first beast charged into the Archeos lines Hastur responded with his own charge. A chain from each hand stuck into the ground to either side of it. His other 2 chains slammed into its shoulders as it reached towards a pair of militia. The beast had just enough time to hiss up at him before his boots slammed into its face as he accelerated into it.
Recalling all his chains he flipped backwards off its face and landed in front of it. "Aren't you one ugly bugger?" he said. Shaking its head clear and roaring at him the beast lashed out with its tail. Hastur simply flipped over it and sent 2 chains straight at its chest. It deftly hopped to the side avoiding the strikes, straight into the path of his second 2 claws. It hissed in pain and charged straight for him. Hastur danced backwards leading it away from the militia as they fought, "Stay strong my brothers." he called back, "Let me just finish this one off."
Suddenly Hastur stopped dodging and went on the attack. His chains leapt forward pone after the other, and endless series of distance stabs. The beast dodged many and took the rest though showed little sign of slowing. But Hastur had no though of injuring it this way. As they fought the beast ended up on a slope above Hastur. Normally in the best position it lashed out with its tail once more. At the same time 2 of Hastur's chains went for its legs. Ducking slightly the tail still slashed across his forehead leaving an ugly cut.
As the beast smelt blood the claws slammed into its legs. On uneven ground already the beast lost its balance and fell forwards landings face first in the dirt, its head just in front of Hastur. "Back to where you spawned from beast." Hastur hissed as he recalled his chains and held his hands in front of its head. It roared and tried to rise but was cut short as all 4 chains slammed into its head at close range and turned it into a pulp.
Breathing heavily Hastur turned and ran back to the front line to rejoin the fight.
Cruroar had not a moment to respond as The disgerani had finally charged. he quickly returned to his post and began chanting again. "Come, brothers! Their souls are lost, feel no pity for them, but only burning hatred!" Cruroar begins casting his enchantments on the front line of the Archeos army.

Seritah stopped running as he saw Rai-gonsuro's plight, he looked back at his fleeing brethren, who had no though to the sacrifice their commander was making. Seritah stood as the strange figures among the disgerani forces, a dark cloud hanging sinisterly above them as they chanted. He saw the forces of the Disgerani disengage the Aerogos for a moment as they turned their attention towards the biggest threat, as they thought the Aerogos broken and beaten.
"What are we if we can not stand here?" Seritah thought to himself. A lone enemy made challenge of Seritah but he was still relatively quick and he side stepped and brough t his bo-staff down upon the enemy shoulder, slicing him open down the side. He stabbed the tip of the opposite side of the bo-staff into the man's head.
"AEROGOS!" Seritah shouted as loud as he could. The pitch of his voice could be heard above the flight of the soldiers. "WE WILL NOT BE BROKEN! THE DISGERANI ARE FIGHTING THE ARCHEOS! STRIKE WHILE THE TIME IS RIGHT!"
Seritah turned and ran, hoping that some would follow him back towards the failing Rai-gonsuro, stupid he may be. But he wasn't about to let the forces of Aerogos be defeated by lesser men, ones who chose to wait until they had better numbers. Seritah reached Ra-Gonsuro's side undetected, he saw the horrible things fighting in the melee of Archeos and Disgerani.
"Sir!" Seritah said. "I will not let us lose this position. We should take advantage of opportunity!"

As Hastur was regaining his strength, he noticed that there was something moving down at his feet. Would he look down he would see blood running UP the hill behind him. His countrymen were staring at him as if they were paralized with fear, before he could react however he felt a cold as if winter itself was breathing down his neck and a raspy, joyfull, whispering, polyphonic voice asked him: "Where...are...you...going?"
The waves of Disgeran's horde were crushing against the defenses of Archeos and even though the fearless defenders of the light were strong and resolute, the sheer ferocity of Disgeran was pushing the militia men to their limits, and fast. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eWVoHVzhxg)
General Orephone moved his hand and the men and women in the tattered blue cloaks started to move. They were taking a position high ontop of the ridge, flanking the side of the Disgerani assault. As with great amount of training all of the group brought forth heavy crossbows at the same time and a moment later bolts started raining down. Targeting the ascended footmen and the demonic creatures while leaving the rest to the archers, this maneuver took considerable pressure away from the front line, giving the men a moment of pause.
The ferocious assault of Disgeran turned into a bloody maelstorm and there was no clear frontline anymore, however Archeos still kept the fiends at bay.
Aeregos had entrenched itself behind the wall of giant rocks their commander had brought forth, slowly regaining strenght, as the only ones that were still attacking them were the heretics, who figured they had a better chance of survival attacking the already weakened children of the serpent, instead of assaulting the army of light.
Rai-Gonsuro looked drained and was breathing heavy, he was looking at the men who had spoken to him. "I would like that very much little man, but as it seems I can't keep this up much longer, nor can our army. We must regain our strength first." With a determined grunt he twisted around and a shell of earth and rock surrounded him.
The Herald looked at the development on the battlefield with interest, he had not forseen that Aeregos would still be around. Though to him it hardly mattered, he spotted some of his children standing amongst the hundreds that were killed, chanting the words he had taught them. Calling upon the dark powers of his masters he openen up a small portal, from which he brought forth a small crimson gem, its shell looked brittled and rugged, like whatever its content was was encased in solid pus. As the foul gem started to levitate in front of him, he began to chant on his own.
The world stopped turning for a moment for all that were present on the battlefield, as the chant (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYNQkIDIKCw) could be heared by anyone, as if it came from everywhere. Finally the Herald's dark plans were set in motion.

Hastur froze as he heard the voice behind him but recovered quickly, "To stop you." he growled. In a second his left hand was pointing behind him palm pointing outwards while his right hand did the same at the ground in front of him. Simultaneously all 4 chains accelerated out of his hands, the 2 of his left hand going straight behind him and the 2 of his right into the ground a few metres ahead of him. As soon as the 2 hit the ground he jumped slightly and pulled himself towards them while recalling his rear chains. If he escaped whatever was behind him he would turn his fight into a tumble, curling into a ball and ending his escape a metre beyond his chains. He would then turn to face his foe.
Finally, after working tirelessly on enchanting the front line with his brothers, The defenders gained protection from evil, and he removed their fear. "Stand aside, my brothers!" He says, as he steps forward. "I shall show them my righteous might!" Focusing his energy, he says a short prayers as he grows larger than even Cretoris, and his armor and weapons and armor grow with him. With the addition of the other enchantments he put on himself, his whole body glows, as if he is a living embodiment of Alu'terasa himself. "Thou foul creatures of disgeran, look upon my visage and despair!" Saying another prayer, a ball of light shoots into the sky, lighting up a large area as if it was noon. He then says one more prayer, as the ground of a 25 foot area around him glows slightly gold, denoting that it had been consecrated. "Is there none who would face me?"

Seritah looked at Rai-Gonsuro, than glanced around at his brothers and sisters of his faith, not wanting to see this battle end without them at least leaving a mark Seritah dropped to one knee and closed his eyes.
"Dear Goddess, we are in need of some divine intervention. Help us in this battle," Seritah prayed. "Any form of help will be appreciated."
Seritah opened his eyes, and stood back up, he clasped his hand upon the bo-staff, and glanced upon the heretics attacking the protections of Rai-Gonsuro's. Seritah remembered a quote from his father, whom he hadn't seen for a long time.
"What is service to someone or something, if you don't give your all?" Seritah smiled and released a feral growl after.
"Aerogos! Let's get Rai-Gonsuro some support," Seritah crowed. "Let's kill these heretics!"

Hastur's chains did fly fast and true, planting themselves firmly into the wicked monstrosity's flesh. However before he could pull himself away from the creature it grabbed his shoulders, seemingly unaffected by the chains. Slamming Hastur into the ground it began to slowly entangle him, like a snake would do to crush its victim.
Cruroar's challenge was met by a collective howling and a charge of numerous demonic beasts that quickly started to pile on him, seeking to crush him with their colletive weight. Though they were hindered by his sigils, the lot of them would quickly bring him down if he would not receive the aid of his comrades. Which would create an opening in the frontlines.
Aeregos was regaining strength and Disgerans attacks on their position slowly started to lose impact, as the army of Disgeran lacked organized leadership and the lot of their army started to pile up infront of Archeos's frontlines.
With the tables turned, the spirit of Aeregos was returning slowly and they began to prepare a counter attack against the now exposed flank of Disgeran.
Seritah noticed that there was something foul in the air, a bitter presence, dark and twisted. The air felt thick with evil and malice, getting more opressive by the moment. This made the Herald rejoice as his plans were nearing their completion.

"You bastard." Hastur hissed as he was dragged to the ground. He withdrew his current 2 chains from its form the released all 4. 2 of them slithered up his form and located the creature's head. One of these chains would then pull back and stab at the head. The other would seek to wrap itself around the creature's throat and strangle it as it pulled it off him. The other 2 would seek whatever it was entangling him. They would drive the daggers into the flesh of it then grab it with the claws, crushing and pulling at it. He would also struggle with his body, fighting against the constriction. As the bitter presence in the air was felt Hastur began to struggle more strongly with his body, "I won't let you succeed!"
"Seek to gang up on me, eh? What cowards you lot are." He shield bashes one of them, the force should be enough to knock it away. "You may think I', weak, but I can still... Smite evil!" His mace glows with holy light and he repeatedly swings it back and forth, bashing all that comes near and warding off all that doesn't. Any disgeran hit by it would be cloaked in holy flame that only burns them, and others like them. "My brothers, rally around me, we can push them back!"

**SPARK TIMED OUT**
The beast was cackling in its unearthly voice as it was slowly ripped apart by Hastur's chains, its blood staining the men's armor and clothes. Spears pierced the monster from all sides, as the militiamen around Hastur finally regained their composure.
Meanwhile the giant bathed in light was struggling with the horde of demons and insane mortals. Swinging his mace about to ward of the dark beings. Though the demonic beasts were hampered by the light, the mortal foes were not, slashing, smashing and stabbing at the giant target. Though normally his armor would protect him against these attacks well and good, its giant size also meant bigger weakspots and the heretics were going for them. Resulting in several injuries and him slowly being pushed back into the front line.
Which in itself slowly started to waver and it became clear, it would not be much longer before the first defensive line would have to retreat behind the second line, which already was setting up their position.
The Herald however did not care for any of this, his chant and that of his children became more and more vivid and otherworldy as suddenly, everything seemed to stop. As if the world itself froze for a moment. Than the darkness spread, it engulfed everything, the soldiers, the corpses, the lights, everything. Aeregos and Archeos was paralyzed and even the forces of Disgeran, including the demonspawns stopped for a moment. Slowly like a cloth dressed over a fresh wound, the full moon became red as blood, bathing everything in an opressive red light. Black and red lightning was causing through the air. Then the sudden silence was broken by a wail so unearthly it forced everyone even the demons to their knees.

Hastur shrugged off the corpse of the creature which had ensnared him within its grasp. He turned to look at the corpse, wanting to know what had surprised him, before turning to the militia who had helped him, “Many thanks brothers. Now I must help another.” Taking off he ran towards where Cruroar found himself facing more than he could fight. Stopping a few metres away his chains leapt out.
The mortal foes around Curoar began to drop, lightly armoured heretics collapsing as their necks and torsos were pierced by Hastur’s daggers. While the man’s actions may have been foolish he was helping the rest of the line and it would be a great loss to morale for him to die. It was just as he finished the thought that the wail burst through the air.
Along with every other man and woman Hastur dropped to his knees, attack faltering as his hands went to his ears. As the wail died off his hands went to the avian’s head on his belt, it’s light still shining brightly. “Stand strong men!” he called out, holding the head aloft, “Do not let them see us weak. Climb to your feet and be ready to meet them again!” He moved along the line as fast as he could, repeating the chant and letting the morale empowering magic of the head touch every soldier.
While Cruroar was pushed back into the front lines, he did not let up with his attacks. He brought down his flaming brand again and again and again, attacking with wild fury, channeling the sliver of divinity granted to him By Alu'terasa. When the wave of darkness came, he raised his shield, and he was able to resist the effects of the darkness, as the shield flashed as soon as the wave hit it, the wave rebounding and hitting the daemons in front of him a second time. He takes that moment to bring his mace down again, and try to bash it's skull open with his attack. "Burn, heretics!"

The wail that had interrupted the silence forced everyone to their knees, it hurt in their ears and seemed to even touch their souls. As if a dark claw dripping with darkness would try to take a hold of their hearts.
Seritah was amongst the first that had regained their composure and helped those that hadn't yet recovered.
"Stand up brothers, their foul magic shall not get the better of us. Stand up and fight!"

Soul shattering and mind-numbingly the wail had brought the fighting to an abrupt stop, as even the demonic beings seemed to be affected. Whatever kind of foul magick had befallen this battlefield seemed to affect everyone.
Cruroars shield flashed brightly and for a moment it seemed its light could withstand the unnatural darkness that had englufed this place. However even this bright light died as the crimson moon's light bathed everything in its sickly red aura. As the light started to vanish, Cruroar suddenly felt the pain of all the wounds the heretics and demons had inflicted on him and he could do nothing but collapse.
Hastur's efforts were working and the men around him were regaining their spirit and started to reform the defensive line, helping others to snap out of it and to return to their posts. However it seems the wave of darkness and the following wail had broken the minds of some of the men, as they were without any reaction at all. Like a sack of meat lacking a soul or any sense of its own.
"W-what is this? What happened?" The men around Seritah were asking similar questions and the sense of an unnatural dread was in the air. Suddenly a crumble was going through the earth and with a powerfull cry only a men like Rai-Gonsuro could bring forth, the casing of rock and stone that had previously covered the men was shattering. Displaying a miracle of pure physical strenght the giant of a men was beginning to laugh loud and strong. "It looks like I overslept a bit huh?" He asked with his trademark smile on his face, this instantly seemed to recover Aeregos morale.
Stretching his shoulder he was looking around. "Pah, foul magick and trickery, looks like I have to beat some rightousness into whoever made this happen! Show yourself, for I Rai-Gonsuro will end your trickery!" As no one answered the giant once again started to laugh. "Hahaha, are you to afraid to face me? Well then, looks like I have to go look for you then!" With a strong gesture and a war cry to rival the thunder of the sky itself the men moved the very earth he was standing on towards the now exposed center of the Disgerani army.
General Orephone had recovered quickly and was reassessing the situation. "Vile sorcery, stand up men, for the enemy shall not be victories over us yet, let the light of our Lord shine brightly within your hearts, fight the darkness and shake of the chains of fear. Your souls will be saved by his grace, do not falter for the darkness is our sworn enemy. None shall tremble before, lets face it like we are destined to do!!" Cries of valor and confidence were coursing the lines of Archeos as the army started to return to an operational state.
The same however could not be said about the forces of Disgeran, driven mad by whatever spell the Herald had cast upon this battlefield the forces were turning against each other, or attacked whatever they could. However the Herald seemed in a good mood. "Yes, the ritual was a success, soon... soon this land will belong to us!" His moment of joy however was cut short as he noticed a mass of land and rocks moving towards him. His face turning into a vile grimace he cursed the giant, but immediately began to prepare himself for his arrival.
Meanwhile it seemed as if the unnatural lightning was arcing from the corpses on the battlefield to one another. Slowly and with artifical movements, the bodies began to move, as if someone had forced the aleady dead bodies to move of their own will. As that happened the battlefield once again was haunted by wails of agony and endless pain, which seemed to come from the bodies that started to rise.

Hastur walked over to the first of the bodies which were not responding. He placed the avian's head against its heart in the vain hope it would do something. He had little hope though, it was not a healing light, only a strengthening one. If it didn't do anything he owuld remove the head saying, "There is nothing we can do for our brothers now. Lay their bodies down in a safe place if possible so that we may try to heal them once the battle is over. As he turned back to the battle the dead began to rise and the screams began again.
He moved to the front of the Archeos line, moving to the very front. He passed the avian head to one of the paladins manning the front, "Keep this safe brother. Don't let them break through." With that he let his chains drop slightly and took off into the battlefield. As the corpses began to move Hastur's chains leapt out, each shot flyign straight into the head of a body carving himself a path towards the Disg general.
Before Cruroar realized what was happening, he had fallen over, unconscious. In that moment, a heretic bashed his head open with a mace, ending his too-short life.

Seritah as well as those around him were bursting with confidence once again, as the Cliffbreaker had returned to aid them. Not wasting any more time their General was on his way to deal with those that had brought forth this vile display of twisted magic that sought to engluf the world in its sickening light.
As the rest of the army took heart to follow their General, Seritah joined them as well. They could not allow such evil to endure.

The body of Cruroar was quickly overrun by the now crazed heretics and demonic beings. Though it was not a coordinated attack or even close to what had happened moments before, this attack was even more ferocious, finally pushing the first defensive line beyond its limit. Resulting in a hasty retreat as the militia men and archers on the first ridge were running for their lives in an attempt to reach the safety of the second line.
The Paladin looked at Hastur, grabbing the men's shoulder. "Good luck brother, may his light shine upon you". As Hastur made his way through the twisted bodies that had risen from the ground, soiled in different shades of red, he felt as if Alu'Terasa was shielding him from the sinister influence of the black magick that was haunting this place, giving him strength, gone were the aches of his wounds he suffered earlier.
He still had a long way ahead of him, as suddenly his attention was attracted by a piece of moving rock, on which the General of Aeregos stood, the men known as Rai-Gonsuro, who seemed hell-bent on reaching the same target as Hastur. Looking over to his enemy the giant called out "Oi small men, are you going my way?" A joyfull expression had crept upon his face, "lets end this evil!"
Seritah and the others were engaging the risen corpses, slashing, bashing, rending and blasting away at them. They were answered with unearthly wails of pain and suffering. Though a bit clumsily, the husks that were driven by the black magick of Disgeran attacked their former friends and enemies with the weapons they had held in hand. Inflicting grueling wounds on the children of the winged serpent, as they had no regards for their own lives anymore.
Seritah's blade pierced one such creature where the heart would be, but instead of being stopped it pushed itself against him. The face was that of a heretic, eyes wide open and empty, with a pityful grimace etched upon it. "K...k...kill...me...p...please." His arms were trying to reach Seritah while it was still firmly planted upon his blade.

Hastur regarded the big man suspiciously at first but in the face of their current foe he decided it was worth the risk. "Indeed Aeregonian I am." Angling his run Hastur launched a chain at the rock Rai rode upon and leant back onto his heels. As the rock pulled him along the ground he reeled himself in until he could hop aboard Rai's rock. Standing atop the rock his chains continued to shoot out, thinning the herd the Aeregonian army would soon enter. "Let's kill the bastard and let these poor souls move on from this world."

Seritah used his shield to push back the husk, finally gaining some breathing room. The twisted body moved arkwardly as it was met with resistance, trying to maintain its balance. Seritah used this opportunity to end this pityful being. As the hollow still tried to regain enough balance to resume its attack, he used the opening in the beasts defense to cut it down, splitting it in half.

The giant next to Hastur was grinning, "hah you said it small one, lets beat this ugly to a pulp!". With that the rock crashed into the lines of what was left of the Herald's personal guard. Rai-Gonsuro quickly started to work the remaining guards into the ground. "Boy you go after the big cheese, I will take care of these fools for you!" With a thundering battle cry Rai-Gonsuro threw himself against the ascended footmen and warriors clad in black armor. Crushing them with his fits, impaling them with rocks or using them as improvised clubs to smash the remaining soldiers standing in Hastur's way into pieces.
The Herald directed his attention towards the giant that made his way towards him, "foolish brute, you will stand no chance against my magick, granted to me by my masters. I will rip your soul from your corpse and torture it till eternity!" With these words the Herald's already bizarre body transformed into a vile mockery of the human body, ripping open like a pus-filled bulge, shedding skin and other bodily fluids. What remained was a twisted mass of flesh, studded with painful looking horns and partially exposed bones and it was greeting the two warriors that dared to meet the Herald of Vasgerax.
Opening its twisted maw it released an otherworldly current, that sought to devour everything that was unlucky enough to get into its sphere of influence. Dark tendrils were reaching out to both Rai-Gonsuro and Hastur so they could pull them into the now manifesting vortex.

Hastur nodded at Rai as he began taking out the Herald's protectors. It was time to end this. "By Alu'Terasa's light you will meet your end here today disgeran monster." he hissed. His chains shot out, slamming into the Herald's tendrils and crushing them. Those who were caught wrapped themselves around Hastur's chains, seeking to pull him closer before their ends were ripped through. Damaged as they were the tendrils continued to grasp for him and Hastur realised his only hope was to take out the thing they came from.
Hastur's chains leapt out again, this time only 2 of them slamming into nearby tendrils, while the other 2 stabbing into the flesh of the monstrosity's. One clamped around a piece of exposed bone while the other other simply stabbed into its flesh. The second claw pulled free easily, tearing a chunk of flesh out with it, while the first struggled a bit. The bone stretched the skin with a disgusting sucking noise before the bone snapped off letting the chain return to Hastur.
However with only 2 chains defending him a tendril slipped passed his defences and wrapped itself around his arm and pulled him towards the maw. His returned chains slammed into the tendril and destroyed it, freeing Hastur, but he had covered half the distance between he and the herald. This close he had to utilize his speed to dodge the tendrils, weaving and dodging as he took opportunistic shots at the herald's form, stabbing into its flesh.
A lucky tendril snuck in and slammed into his stomach, sending him reeling backwards but luckily further from the herald's form. "This is it Alu'Terasa." Hastur whispered, "The light may enter the darkness but it will never be extinguished." All 4 of his chains leapt out. 2 of them wrapped themselves around 2 tendrils and pulled, tying to tear the dark limbs out. The other 2 leapt straight into the Herald's mouth seeking to crush what they found within.

Hastur's chains were shooting right for the Herald's mouth, however they did not hit his actual form but were sucked in by the pitch black vortex that had started to grow mere moments ago. The Tendrils captured by Hastur's chains quickly returned to the vortex also trapping the chains within. A vile dread suddenly crept into Hastur's mind, voices, too many to count were screaming at him, in anger, in pain and in sadness. Struck with fear Hastur was not able to fight the pull of the vortex, only able to stare in horror as the growing darkness reached out to consume him.
He suddenly felt a strong hand grabbing him, "Oi small one, snap out of it or it will be your end!" The thundering voice of Rai-Gonsuro broke whatever spell had hexed Hastur and both him and Rai-Gonsuro were struggling as hard as they could. "Aaaargh damn, that monster's pull is too strong! Its no use, we are going to get sucked in!" The giant's face wasn't showing fear only defiance, as both he and Hastur were pulled into the vortex.
After this much exhaustion the Herald was on his knees a sinister smile on his grimmace of a face. "Heh foolish mortals, looks like I did get you afterall." Slowly reverting to his old form he gazed upon the battlefield. It appeared that the spell could not be maintained any longer as it started to deteriorate. "Still not enough sacrifices? Disappointing, looks like this is still not what my masters desire. I shall continue to seek the weapon that will deliver the world into my masters hands."
The Herald had returned to his original form and turned to his remaining army. "Pull back, nothing remains to be learnt from this battle." And so as the spell faded the armies of Disgeran were retreating, leaving behind a blood drenched battlefield. Realizing that their General had been lost, Aeregos also started to withdraw. The exhausted troops of Archeos were not able to pursue them, so they stood their ground.
General Orephone looked exhausted and was trying to regain his composure, as a Paladin approached. "What is it my brother, do you have something to report?" The Paladin saluted, "My General I believe I know what or better who broke the spell!" The General looked curious, "then speak, where is this brave men so that I can congratulate him!" The Paladin's face changed to an even sterner one, presenting the General the Avian's head Hastur had given to him. "I have not learned his name, but he gave me this, before he left to meet the enemy general."
The General's voice sounded weary as he answered, "That is a shame, I will try to find out who this brave soldier was, so he can be rewarded and honored, thank you for bringing this to my attention brother."
