The time is now, the day is today, and the world as you know it, is nothing like it is.
We have no idea of the true amounts of specialized radiation that are emitted from the sun. There is enough, in the right form, to blow us all apart, as though we were in an industrial microwave. But it's a special form, we have not yet learnt how to discover. The radiation, combined with the light rays does something quite funny, we can't figure out what.
That isn't quite true.
There are people who have discovered the effect of this radiation. And how to use it. They studied and studied until finally one day making the connection. The radiation and the light form shadows. Obviously. But this radiation breaks the shadow, making it into a slit between this world, and the world of shade. However, this knowledge was not enough to be able to pass into this world. They needed to find a way how.
They were looking for a what. They found a who.
A boy, whose mother was overexposed to radiation from the sun, gave birth to a power. He could, with enough will pass through the worlds slit and into the shadow world. And these scientists abducted him, and forced him to travel and gather results for him. But for them one person was just not enough.
The shadow world was similar to ours, but people have vcery little perspective, values, or morals. Even emotions are lacking there. People get by, and get by however they can. Places have a funny way of looking similar on both sides, and events that happen on one, happen in some form in the other. Unless a traveler can change that.
There were more than just that one boy, who gained such enormous powers. They were everywhere. However, the scientists are constantly hunting for them. And now, thanks to the first boy, they even have their contacts in the world of shade.
You, being born a traveler, must find out your own destiny, while avoiding these cruel scientists. All the while trying to figure out what links these worlds together.

Name: Jack Farson
Age: 17
Appearance: Jack is tall and dark, his black hair, and dark blue eyes give him a feel of shadow no matter what side he's on. He dresses mostly in denim, and wears a denim jacket, that turns to leather in the shade.
Discovering of power: Jack was very young and was bring picked on by a bully in the heat of the summer, during reccess. He dived into his shadow, honestly believing it was a portal to another world, and fell through. And from that moment on, he never really wanted to go back. He has constantly avoided his problems, and made several contacts in the shade realm because of his constant being there.
WoC: A small black stone, that can call small shades in both realms.
Other: Jack spends more time in the sahdow world then in the normal. A weakness some would say.
