Ch 4.5 Dream Battle OOC

With the rousing success that was the last Dream Battle (and by that, I mean the prolonged drama of me irritating Edd until he finally pulled his faction through), its been decided that another Dream Battle will be hosted by yours truly (and Tolvo as well, go check his out too :P).

However, I have a little twist ^.^ I will be hosting TWO Dream Battles!! :O No, I'm not trying to one-up Tolvo, he can do what he wishes xD I would, however, like to see everyone participate in both. You don't HAVE to, but I'd like it :D

EDITED : So the first of the battles will be a standard Battlefield setting like the last one. After a short poll, we've all decided to go with this idea for the set-up...


The six factions will be randomly distributed into 2 groups of opposing forces. One group will start out in fortified positions (three forts, one for each faction) and the other group will be playing offense. Each offensive faction will be paired with a defensive faction and the factions then duke it out. The remaining three factions after those fights will then decide how to proceed into the rest of the forces. Whether a faction plays defense or not and who faces who will be determined by random number generators.


For the second Dream Battle, I will be holding an advanced INF-type match. Al six factions are aiming for one singular goal and their strike-teams have to fight it out over such. Once all the PCs are signed up, I will be tailoring their teams to be well-rounded enough to fight each other on even ground. What the goal of the INF will be will remain a secret, just know that PvP elements will be focused on here, as well as the stealth/planning factors of a normal INF. PCs will be the highest ranking units on the strike forces, like any normal INF. More than one PC on a faction will have to determine who leads who or who does what on their own.

Now, with these two battles in mind, I'd like it if each player submits one PC for one battle and their other for the other. I.e. when choosing PCs for MY battles (Tolvo's not included here) the rule for PC permanency is in effect.

If you're doing two, then Brevsin in second, Dezeroth in first. If you're just doing one and picking between the two, then I'd say the first, because you know how I hate PvP so.

As per which type of battlefield set up I'm partial to the king of the mountain set up, or the three offensive vs the three defensive.

Now I'll clarify just in case we missed this: After each faction-duel is done (i.e. either the defensive or offensive group on each pair has won), the winning faction must continue on to fight the remaining factions, which would be two others if everything settles out right.

We must still have a last man standing, right? xD

So with that in mind... Would you all like to see which faction does which (attack/defend) and who they're paired with or shall we keep that a secret?

It's a secret! You'll be fighting the other factions over a singular objective. Logically, there's only a few things that could be without being very very particular to run and unenjoyable to play.

Naturally, I'm still working out kinks to make sure this will run smoothly and as non-confrontational as possible (at least in the OOC), so that would be another reason why I can't tell you xD

So, unlike Tolvo and his group of commanding officers, I've gone through and actually created a group of brand new, full-fledged Generals: one for each army, that is.

Of course, none of these generals are completely official; they've passed E1's gaze enough to be fielded in this battle without incident, but I have no idea if they'll make it on to the official General's board. It's a possibility, he said. But we'll see.

So hopefully you guys will be hyped for that ^.^

Alright, since the idea LITERALLY came to me as I was typing it in the Ch4 OOC, I will announce it here, too:

I will be dropping any faction without PCs from the INF battle. I will NOT, however, be doing this for the BF. Just to keep that clear.

This is to keep things easier on myself and to basically simplify things overall by whatever percentage that might be.

Alright guys, after much debate and posting in a row (shame, Jaco), I've decided that I do not have the skill or ability to set up a single Infiltration for more than two factions.

Therefore, if anyone signed up a character for the INF and would still like to have something to do with that character, we can start talking about either Individual instances like Tolvo has been doing or something else.

I apologize for the hype I've gotten up here, but hopefully it died down long enough for this not to be that much of a disappointment D:

I've managed to get the BF up. And as luck would have it, yet again CF is the first to post and Edd is the last.

I swear that I use a legitimate d100 roll and this is just how it works D: So have fun everyone, take a big whack at it. The time limit is 36 hours, notice, and I will be taking into account Rankings from Ch 4 for people who want to try commanding troops. Act like a leader and you'll do well. Randomly give out commands and people might not want to follow you into battle. Play smart. Play safe. And be ready for a fight to the death ;)

Hey Pichu and Edd, you're both on so let me run an idea by you: given Dez and Karrha's relation and the convenience of the posting order, I have a proposition. If you would like, I would allow you two to co-op posts into this battle, since your turns are adjacent. Basically what this would mean is you two could better Coordinate what your characters do and how they interact. I want to test that out as a possible system and seeing as you two got the luck of the draw, you get to be my guinea pigs.

What say you? Its not required but I though it'd be a nice touch. It woodn't work quite as well with any other pairing; either, but might give some provocation to future bonds on the battlefield.

Since its so early in the battle, everyone's got their new ranks. And it would basically be you two writing a post together on PMs for your combined turn. If you do, you both get the combined time limit for your turns (i.e 72 hours) to post one post that counts for both your turns.

Fort walls are nigh thirty-five feet. The fire is about half as tall and only a couple yards thick, spanning the field. The sandstorm is thick enough to obscure vision to about a stones throw away.

well all I know is his mom really dislikes him being on, last time he told me his mom didn't want him on and he would not be allowed to. But then he did for a while but I guess his mom enforced what ever she said earlier. so... ya idk.

So I'm considering dropping this Dream Battle for the following reasons: posting is slow/nonexistent in some cases, I will not have enough reliable computer access to keep on top of posting time limits or my own GM posts, and because, honestly, Tolvo is doing a far superior job at testing his units than I might be. Of course, I would NOT drop this out on that last issue alone, but it is something to consider when the other two points are valid.

So is there anyone here who would be completely bummed out if I discontinued this Dream Battle?
