I have to do a few things since I've just woken up, but I'll be back to start going over the parts of armor.

Should I go over ones that have appeared in PC sheets? Technically, they exist, so we might go over which ones we can keep to the canon, etc.

I can also go over any armor that has been done in those sheets.

As far as I am aware player armor is also "canon" though it might be good to point out that it is player armor(via tag for instance).

Well then, I'ma go make a little list of weapons and armor that our PCs have fielded

Though I'm going just by the sheets, so any edits won't really count.

After posting in another RP I'm basically going to be going over the armor that one will likely see, going over the units. Player Armor is generally more vague but using the descriptions you can figure out what the player is wearing.

I can give some diagrams I've found online to help though.

Hauberk - A shirt of chainmail with stud like areas upon it. The chainmail protects one excellently from the bottom of their throat to their thighs, it also has long sleeves which go down to the wrists. Chainmail protects one against slashing attacks and it also makes piercing attacks less effective while doing nothing to stop blunt force trauma. While spread apart the studs are generally over the centers of internal organs or vital areas meaning that for deadly strikes it is possible for a stud to stop a piercing attack.

Barbute - A helmet made of metal plating generally worn with padding on the inside to keep one from being as hurt by the force of blows. The Barbute covers most of the head though it doesn't have a visor, instead it has an opening that is generally in a T or Y shape allowing one have their mouth, eyes, and nose exposed. It does protect the top half of one's neck.

Sallet - A helmet made of metal plating generally worn with padding on the inside to keep one from being as hurt by the force of blows. The Sallet covers the topm sides, and back of someone's head while on the front generally reaching down to their nose's bridge. Sallet's do not cover the lower half of a person's head which is why they are almost always worn with a Gorget. They can also come with visors to better protect the eyes and when combined with a Gorget can essentially perfectly protect the neck and head from anything aside from pure force, or magic.

Gorget - A neck piece of armor that is made of metal plating, the Gorget is like a brace of sheets of metal. It protects the insides of one's shoulders and their throat completely from piercing attacks while making them incapable of moving their neck too much. It actually aids in keeping one from being injured due to sudden jerks, though with enough force it will crush the throat or snap the neck anyway. Gorget's are typically worn underneath breastplates and with a Sallet. The Sallet protects the top of the head while the Gorget covered the lower half of the head.

Kettle Helmet - A helmet generally worn with chain mailed to help keep it on one's head. Kettle Helmets were wide like a plate and could aid in protecting someone from overhead blows or projectiles coming that would strike them in the face from above.

Close Helmet - A helmet generally made of plates, it has a visor and covers the entire head of the wearer and generally the throat, as well as inner shoulders. Visors are usually open outside of combat to give one better vision, the Close Helmet is the standard helmet of the Knight in fiction. Close Helmets are normally worn with padding on the inside. They are often worn with Bevors for extra protection.

Bevor - A neck guard that usually covers the front of the throat and jaw, but can also cover the back of the neck, a Bevor is worn in conjunction with a helmet to protect its wearer. It covers the insides of ones shoulders as well and is bulkier than a Gorget and is worn on the outside of armor.

Visor - A piece of metal usually held onto the helmet by hinges, a visor is capable of being moved up to allow a person better breathing and vision. Visors usually have small slits and holes to allow one to breath and see, they are close to one's face giving them decent vision while small enough to even cause arrows to have difficult fitting inside of them. Holes are often small and built into the helmet too so one can notice the missing light of a weapon or object in front of them.

Bascinet - A helm generally made of metal, the Bascinet was a tall helm with a pointed peak that extended at the backs and sides of the neck but not the front. Because of this it was frequently it was worn with a Camail, a chain mail neck piece that hangs from inside of the helm to protect the throat. A visor could be worn with a Bascinet though it would be bulky and be harder to keep raised, as well it was easier to break its hinges.

Camail - A piece of chain mail that hangs from the inside of a helm. It covers the throat, bottom of the jaw, and shoulders. The Camail covers all sides of the neck. It would protect one from slashing attacks and could resist piercing strikes though blunt force trauma was still effective against this armor. Camail was also known as Aventail.

Great Helm - A very large helmet shaped somewhat like a bucket. It was very thick with a flat top that didn't soften blunt strikes. The helm would protect nearly perfectly against piercing and slashing attacks. Great Helms were heavy and hot, because of this it is generally worn initially into combat but taken off as combat continues to make sure one doesn't overheat. Sometimes smaller helmets are worn underneath. Slits where eyes would be on a person are common on the helmet to aid in breathing and seeing, along with holes to help with breathing and to let one notice light missing from weapons or items in front of their face.
