A year before, of those who entered fought in the presence of the gods until only one survived.

So much so they pulled another gap in space and time to create the location for a second Deathmatch.


Where only one man, or woman, will stand.

They had created an event, word of which spread across the universe, all creation.

And now the gods are back.

They are hungry for the third annual event, eager to be impressed by bloody and gruesome kills, brilliant tactics in a battle where only one will live.

The System


It's really simple but I've had issues explaining it before. Here is how it works. It is every man for themselves.


You attack and you will be attacked until you run out of lives(Frags as they are called).


Whoever still has lives at the end of it is the last man standing.


And the winner of the entire game.

UserName: *These have a knack of changing so yeah.*
Player Name:
Player appearance: I actually recommend a picture over words but know that's what we'll take as your full appearance.
You should definitely add writing to change the clothing if you want.
If you only post a picture then we have to assume that that is exactly what your character looks like.


Player weapon:
Player weapon power: *This is a super power attached to your weapon, you only get one power, no power absorbing powers*
Player Power:*This is a power attached to the player, you only get one power, no power absorbing powers, power nullifying powers..sure!*
Player Class: *What are you? Ninja/ Pirate/ Samurai/ Vampire ETC.
There's barely a plot so why have a bio?(If your character has only one specific way of dying, CHANGE YOUR PLAYER. Your opponent has full murder rights. Legally he/she can do what he wants, hopefully without being an asshole)

The rules
These are important as they don't exactly follow the rules of role playing as you know them.


No double posting!


There have to be 2 posts between your post and your next post.*Give everyone a chance. And stops the game from moving too quickly.*


Don't get upset when someone controls your character in their post, you are allowed to do that to make your post good, remember it's about having fun and having complete writing freedom.


Kill posts(Or fragging posts) are only allowed on a player's third tag


If by any chance you run out of Attacking posts then, that's it. You are not dead but you are incapable of posting until the game ends, there is a way to avert this but you'll learn it later on.


Tagging posts inflict some form of damage or impact, but do NOT kill. (Ie you injure the character you are attacking but never kill them)


Killing posts kill a character opening them to a respawn.


Characters respawn automatically, either on their own or by A GM or my CO-GM if its taking too long.


Remember


Attacked once Lose a tag


Attacked twice Lose a tag


Attacked the third time, Lose Tag and Frag(Life).




Very important rule - Have fun.
Additonal Rules I have thought up since the last Deathmatch


If you do not post in ten days of your last post you will lose a frag. If fifteen days pass without a post you will instantly die and the last player to attack your character will gain your attacks.


Other players are allowed to join in once the game starts but you will gain an equal number of attacks/tags/frags as the player with the lowest Tags/Frags.

How it All Works.


There are exactly three statistics you have to worry about.


Attacks
It's all really simple. This is the total sum of the number of time you are allowed to post there by attacking or fragging an opponent.


Tags
There are only so many times you are allowed to be hit before you die. This hits are called Tags. When you are attacked you lose a tag. When you lose a specific number of tags you are killed, or fragged but when your tags run out your total health runs out too, which means you are dead.


Frags
There are so many lives a person has before they die. When you lose a certain number of Tags you run out of health and die. When you die you are fragged.
When you are fragged you character suffers a temporary computer game type death and is respawned.


You can only be fragged so many times before you run out and you die.


In the previous game Each player had 15/09/03
15 Attacks
09 Tags
03 Frags(Or lives if you want to look at it like that)


If you run out of attacks you run out of posts.
If you run out of Tags, you die.
If you run out of Frags, you die.

While attacking a perfectly spherical orb emerges from one eye socket, a roiling miasma of red and blue colour. He wears a tattered green and white uniform.

Player weapon: A plain longsword almost as tall as Kuren seemingly made from a single piece of steel.
Player weapon power: No special power
Player Power: The Eye. When Kuren attacks a glowing blue and red orb emerges from one eye socket. The Eye is able to cast powerful illusion magic which changes the reality of those subject to it allowing Kuren to strike them without being seen. The Eye can also cause such a powerful illusion that it hurts the minds of those subjected to it as they try to understand what they are seeing.

You can, however make TEMPORARY alliances. We learned the hard way that every Alliance MUST be temporary; if there's any sort of teaming up that tries to keep the fight from reaching last man standing, the gods will literally wipe their memories.

Its rather brutal, but fun :D

Unless, however, the Deathmatch series has reached a point where forming an alliance could be deemed a unique plot twist rather than a breech of the rules, as I gathered from the last one. Perhaps around the fifth Deathmatch it could be feasible.

Player appearance: The Storyteller's appearance is always hidden under a thick cloak that changes from sighting to sighting. He is fully capable of changing his appearance, but he consistently assumes the form of an old man.

Player weapon: His staff (mainly)
Player weapon power: His staff is basically an ordinary staff, but it once used to be a snake. He uses his powers to make it more powerful.
Player Power: Subjective reality (there's an article for it on Superpower wiki). It basically means that he can blur the line between fantasy and reality. While that may sound simple, its implications are deceptively large. He can conjure mythological or otherwise fictional beings and bring them into the material universe to fight or wreak havoc, and he can use it to manipulate the laws of physics around him (mainly to change his appearance or pull off otherwise impossible feats). He accesses the fantasy worlds by opening portals in something called the Dark Realm, which to him acts like a central hub between all the fictional and material universes.
Player Class: Deity (this won't coincide with the gods of the roleplay, though. It's just what he is).

Umm....Well I think it matters to the person's summoning power. For example Jeremor's mindless minions that are defending his character. I can't see how that would make that much of a difference to him to kill a few but on the other hand if there was a character playing as a pokemon trainer like Ash and you killed pikachu..well that would be screwed up.

Also note to Jer since the battle's kicked off and people have been tagged already in the name of fairness you have the same number of tags as the person with the least amount of tags. And at the point of you being approved the weakest char has only been tagged once it means you'll start at 14/08/03.

You can do no intro post or do an intro post tagging/nontagging/fraging post thingy or both.

I the essence of attacking Summons, even if you spend the entire post defeating it, I think it should still be a Non-attacking Post unless you do something that DOES hurt a player. If the summon is tied to the persons being, then maybe that would count, but I don't think The Storyteller is that attached to his creations xD

The Storyteller works through summons, a lot of the time. He isn't linked to them, so hurting them doesn't hurt him, but they obey him. It could be fun just to have the summons fight each other.

On that note, does anyone have any favourite mythological (or otherwise, fictional) beasts and creatures they'd like to see in the roleplay? You're limited to anything that has been established in a story, but preferably an old story, or well-known myth.

Since Korzan has just entered, wouldn't his character have the same number of tags and frags as the player with the lowest number? That rule was to prevent people from entering partway through the tourny with that kind of advantage.

Well Tate considering the fact that there are a lot of other players who have the same amount of frags as me but maybe a tag or few lower, and some who have a less amount of battle posts I woudln't say it's too much of an advantage.

I'd say an advantage would be if I joined and you guys were all on your last lives and I come in with all of mine; but that's not really the case. of course GM's word goes but I'm just saying.

The people with more tags and frags joined the battle at the start and just haven't lost any. Joining later on, thus skipping the possibility of being hit, still seems like bypassing the rules to a degree.

If DOK had posted at the start of the RP then not posted at all until recently and had not been attacked then I would say there's no issue and that that was just clever strategy. The whole "hope' you haven't noticed me" element.

Where as one could argue the DOK never actually spawned despite joining at the start of the game. So attacking him was pretty much impossible.

Logically the GM, me, should auto spawn people. Which is actually a rule for after a character dies, in case someone tries to stay too long in limbo and bypass the battles. I believe the rule there is three days before you are auto spawned.

I've never actually encountered a situation where it was the opening or intro post that was the post that was hyper late.

Having said that a late comer has never actually won the games before. How ever as there have only been 2 games. One can argue that that is meaningless.

I would have this issue open.
I think from now on people who post their open posts have their tag marked from the lowest score from a week after the opening post grace period ends.

Speak now if you think it should run immediately form the end of the grave period.

And do you think it should apply for poeple who signed on at the very beginning, because right now it's meant for poeple who come in once the battle has started.

I bet if I looked at the general timing of the battles of the past I'd notice a time gap for the middle phase of all the battles XD In other words this is lie awkward phase where most people have died at least once and there's a risk of being the target if you post first. Right I am still here but over the weekend when I planned to get a post up, I had to go for a job trial. I am now busy at rowing tomorrow, work wednesday, rugby on thursday and friday I have a party I've been invited to so I will try to squeeze in a post but I'm sorry for my lack of activity :/

My bad guys. I know pure wants to kill me, and probably some of you too. Work is hell lately. I work at staples if any of you know what that is. If not, lemme tell you. It's an office supply store. And guess what time it is boys and girls. Back to school time! Which means, I'm pulling about three jobs a day. I have to do tech work, office supply work, and cashier work. Often times I find myself doig management work as well. So there should be a couple more weeks of hell before it begins to slow down again. This is like the first time all month I've had a chance to get online and I really should be sleepig right now. But I thought I'd let you all know why I haven't been here to post. Sorry again.

Thats okay Phe dough is pretty much right on Monday I was gonna kill every one off who hasn't posted. And I was gonna carry one with the last four. I've pretty much VMed everyone involved and if they didnt' reply or post then they are definitely dead.

Phe I get it man, I know myself. Work has been hell since we're running at less than half staff in the muscia store while being a store that shoplifters are robbing to the point where we're about to lose out jobs because of them. (dont shop lift, it totally does hurt people assholes lol) but I'm kicking myself out too so unless you're committing to posting again man I'm proly gonna kick you too. I would have done it now but I have work and shit.

I've only been in two of these matches, and I've never seen one naturally boil down to a few contestants. It's usually through people being inactive jerks that whittles down the competition.

I'm a little intrigued about how the Storyteller knows so much about things he didn't see. Such as the remains of the hydra which only Miranda saw, or Kuren's power at all when he never saw him use it. He was in the air looking away when Kuren used it on him (and honestly you'd have a hard time arguing he even knows Kuren used his power on him) and he was dead when the attack hit Miranda.

I didn't care to question it; there are certain things you don't really need to nit-pick over xD Though I too wondered that to myself, Dough. In my experience, illusions are usually tailored to the viewer and unknown to anyone else.

Exactly. While I don't like to nitpick, when the only reasons he has for attacking me are reasons he wouldn't actually know, it becomes something I feel is kinda important.

Well he did have reason to attack him; the other gods that he knows personally told him that Kuren caused the Illusion xD That was part of his respawn.

Honestly, you can pull anything you want with the gods during respawn; they're that much of a wild card.

The Storyteller was admiring the Hydra attack a few pages ago. I assumed that because it went without protest it was generally acceptable that The Storyteller could bear witness to the illusions.

Any way the original reason was becuase I was going backwards in order from last post to first to make a top four and let it run from there. Also look at how absolutely full your score was compared to everyone else is. I mean unless I've made a mistake you haven't actually attacked anyone yet. Or been attacked. I put you back in now though. Volpe is still in. So now there's a top five.
