Sakaris, a world where the co-existence of magic and technology has become very possible. leading to a new age of prosperity and peace for many nations across the world. however, this was all but everlasting. With the fusion of magic and technology came the creation of new weapons of war, and soon melee combat was slowly, but not entirely phased out of warfare. tensions rose between nations and were close to the brink of war.

Dark times soon fell upon the world of Sakaris as war finally sparked between former allies, friends and neighbors. Sakaris was now soaked in the blood of many thousands as the Great World War begun.

Zomdrones are humans or elves that have been re-animated from the dead into monstrous forms that are both agile and strong. they are the most recognisable part of Numvera's fighting force, howver, they've lost all forms of sentience, and must be directed.

Colossus
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q173/sigma830/Aliens/Alien-1175.jpg
The Colossus are large mutated cybernetic creatures created by the twisted scientists of Numvera. They dwarf normal humans or most races by comparison, and posses superhuman strength, as well as incredibly tough skin. However, these physical strengths are compensated for by their complete lack of intelligence.

Mauler
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q173/sigma830/RP%20Characters%20and%20Stuff/creature-83.jpg
The mauler is a reptillian-like chimera beast that towers even over the Colossus. they are often deployed in urban or large scale battles to act as anti-infantry beasts or crush enemy vehicles under their feet.

The Maulers are armed with two large mini guns with an almost infinite supply of ammo linked to them.

Marauder
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q173/sigma830/Aliens/Alien-1198.jpg
Marauders are huge beasts rivaling the maulers in size. marauders are used by the chimeran army as walking tanks, strapped with an incredibly powerful arsenal, then sent into the fray. they are armed with dual wrist turret guns, a missile launcher, and a large mounted cannon on its back.

The Elites are specialized, higher-ranking Soldiers of the chimeran army, elites are actually members of the former numveran military who prove themselves loyal enough to remain unaltered. they now serve as General Baelgard's personal guard. Sporting a unique, organic look to their armor, the Elites are the deadliest of the chimeran infantry, moving into combat under the general's orders only.

Runner
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q173/sigma830/Aliens/Alien-803.jpg

Ruler:
King Pedrit Onoam

Government Type:
Monarchy

Brief History:
The Kingdom of Rendallan is a curious case. When it comes to its society, the kingdom is at a normal level of technology – its hospitals run efficiently with modern medicine, Rendallans use cars and buses. Its military, though, is curiously archaic. It relies solely on a mix of magic for defense and melee weapons for offense. While the Swordmasters of Rendallan are amongst the best in the world, they are a dying breed in a world of ballistic and magical weapons.

Elf Warrior and Archer Mage:

Warrior and Archer Mages are rasied from birth to combine martial combat – either melee weapons or bow/arrows with magic. While they can not summon the magic of a true mage, the combination of weapon/magic can be devastating in a skilled warrior. These men and woman specialize in defensive shields and magic attuned to their weapon of choice.

http://i869.photobucket.com/albums/ab254/BrettJHowell/Great%20World%20War/wizard1.jpg
Elf Wizard:
True Wizards are rare in Randallan – mere dozens remain - but those that choose the path of pure magic can cast some major spells – fireballs, lightening bolts. Randallan Wizards are, in effect, the cities only true siege weapons and are used only for extreme cases.

Nation Name: Manufactorum

Race: Artificers

Ruler: The Mainframe

Government: N/A Hivemind, everyone shares the same intelligence and is programmed to be completely loyal.

Brief History: Nearly a century ago a drop pod containing a small compliment of self replicating machines landed in the middle of Sakaris and so the Manufactorum was born. Since then it has expanded to the size of an extremely large city and is continually growing, fueled by recycler drones that break down objects and bring the raw atoms back to the Manufactorum to be used in the creation of new systems.

Not long ago the Mainframe, which is present in all aspects of Artificer life, commissioned a grand army to defend against the indigenous organics. These soldiers would be unquestionably loyal, relentless in battle, and without morals of their own to slow them down.

Notable Personalities:

The Mainframe
Program: Warmonger
Program: Collector

Territory: closest to the city the landscape is barren and almost perfectly flat, though nearer to the territory rim natural formations and plant life are more abundant. Recycler drones, which are nondescript white ovals the size of small tanks, rove around picking up what usable material is left to be had. The Manufactorum itself spans nearly half the diameter of the territory and reaches 50 stories in some places and untold depths underground. White outer plates dominate the outside of the factory and pulsing blue fiber-optics snake through everything. Very little of the place was designed with humanoids in mind, but should an unwelcome group find their way in traps hidden in walls and Blade Troopers wait around very corner.

Units:

http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20070822154537/universeatwar/images/2/28/Novus_ohmrobot.jpg

The Thrall are mass produced and extremely versatile ground troops designed to be disposable and effective at the same time. They stand exactly six feet tall and are armed with dual energy blasters.

http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090512230037/universeatwar/images/b/b3/Blade_Trooper.JPG

Blade Troopers are less common than the Thralls, but not by a large amount. They stand eight feet tall and are armed with cool plasma blades that are still hot enough to cut through most armor, these blades can also throw said plasma a considerable distance with fair accuracy.

http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20070803223427/universeatwar/images/a/a5/939445_20070511_screen008.jpg

Replicators stand short at five feet, but are responsible for the in field construction of structures such as transport gates and Mainframe signal amplifiers which, once built, will cloak and be nearly invisible. Loss of one of these towers (which are about the size of a telephone pole) results in the loss of connection with the Mainframe causing Artificer units to idle and become defensive. Replicators have no weapons.

http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20070822181261/universeatwar/images/4/4a/Novus_antimattertank.jpg

A tank capable of encapsulating a powerful vacuum and then project the energy capsule at a targeted location to cause a moderately sized implosion.

http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20070822181117/universeatwar/images/7/7e/Novus_variant.jpg

A small tank fitted with nine focused energy blasters capable of tearing holes in a concretw wall, Scatters are also able to cloak almost flawlessly into the environment, allowing for ambushes and surveillance. These are programmed to be somewhat independent from the Mainframe as surveillance missions often take them out of range of amplifier towers.

http://pcmedia.ign.com/pc/image/article/798/798546/universe-at-war-earth-assault-20070621054555255.jpg

Devastators stand a full 20 feet tall at the head and are armed to the teeth, the highly accurate assault rifle is just for starters, it also has rocket pods concealed in its shoulder pads and carries two cooled plasma swords in case of other weapons being disabled. In extreme situations it can also detonate its power cells causing very large explosions.

http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20070822160837/universeatwar/images/c/cb/Novus_dervish.jpg

The standard aircraft of the Artificers. Hunters are extremely fast, reaching speeds up to 800 MPH, and can rotate their outer wings, which contain their engines, downward to hover in place. Hunters can be outfitted with a variety of weapons including wing mounted rapid-fire energy cannons and homing missiles. Their speed and maneuverability comes at the cost of armor and strength, though in packs they are formidable opponents for even large airships.

Well, it can be like any other rp but you can control a wide cast of characters from national leaders, to the common soldiers and officers. there are some rps like this around. I could give examples on how this is played.

Nation Name: The Reichstahl Empire (Steel Empire)

http://i900.photobucket.com/albums/ac201/Keragor2/ReichstahlBlimpSide.png

Race(s): Human

Ruler: Emperor Franz Maximillian XIVth

http://i900.photobucket.com/albums/ac201/Keragor2/Maximillian.png

Government Type: Autocracy

Brief History: The Reichstahl Empire was founded over 1000 years ago by a small and unsubstantial Royal Power. Through industrious and violent means, this Royal family was able to accquire vast resources and a substantial workforce. Under a regime of loyalty and terror, this workforce became subjected to large-scale indoctrination, pledging loyalty to the Emperor from an early age. Opponents of the Royal family and the Empire are quickly rubbed out from public attention and sporadic outbreaks of disloyalty are snuffed out by the heavy military presence.

Reichstahlers live in several sprawling industrial super cities with populations numbering millions. These cities are tightly packed with supply lines, pipes and centres of military and industry. Even more impressive, perhaps, are the mobile nature of these cities. As the collosal engines of the lower decks belch acrid black smoke into the sky and innumerous gears and pistons of the city strain and shift, tracks the size of fields grind rock and plant to dust underneath their immeasurable weight. These cities move, allbeit slowly, within less than 3 days travel of one another by zeppelin, the primary transport of the Empire, creating a flowing Empire who's territories are always contested and a people who attribute much of the earth as nothing more than what goes under the tracks. These cities, however, do not move constantly. Instead the majority of travel takes place every 100 years, in which urban complexes are deployed around the spires of steel and fire. The surrounding area is slowly stripped of natural resources and the landscape changed to a grey, lifeless and morbid scene.

The technology of the Empire is heavily industrialised and based upon heavy reliance on combustible materials, metal and some hydraulics. Far from advanced, the hapless and mass produced engineering of its vehicles and defences are often simple but effective due to the extent to which the designs reach. Computer technology is wholly unheard of, and the strange components and materials required are not found amongst the stores in the vast factories, so reverse engineering of enemy technology is deemed unworthy of the logistics involved. Heavier than air flight too is unknown to the engineers of the Empire, content only when several inches of steel can be applied to a creation and it is still running. Simple ballistic ranged weaponry is fielded in high numbers and with overly large round sizes. Chemical weaponry in the form of flamethrowers, mustard gas and acid sprays are also used in the more urban environments.

At present, the young Emperor Franz Maximillian XIVth is in control of the Empire and pledges to his people that he will continue the expansion of the influence of the Empire more than his forebears and there is talk of plans to construct a new city to add to the monoliths that bear the Emperor's will.

Notable Personalities: (To be included as of when I deem necessary in the Roleplay ;))

Units

http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/mediawiki/images/7/7b/Krieg_Guardsman.jpg

The brave men of Reichstahl number in the hundreds of thousands, born from the innards of sprawling city constructs these shock troops are trained in large scale and open combat. Fiercely loyal to the Emperor, these men fight tenaciously wherever they go, specialising in urban and trench warfare. Armed with an assortment of ballistic, chemical and rocket propelled weaponry, squads of units are usually amalgamated to form a multifarious fighting force who's equipment can range from flamethrowers to gas grenades and everything inbetween. Pistols, rifles, machine guns, shotguns, marksman rifles, flamethrowers and grenades are all issued to troops in every regiment and uniforms are barely distinguishable from one another.

http://keiththompsonart.com/images/full/atelialighttank.jpg

Equipped with rear facing machine gun, turreted light cannon and front mounted flamethrower, the Firelance Support Vehicle is capable of laying down heavy surpressing fire and clearing the area ahead of the troops it can deploy from it's transport cabin inside the protective hull. Capable of carrying 10 standing Guard troops, the main purpose of this vehicle is to quickly ferry the near endless stream of troops between defensive locations whilst engaging entrenched enemy positions. These vehicles are heavily used around troop deployments in mechanized shock attacks against enemy lines and in urban locations where the flamethrower can effectively be used to burn the enemy out of cover.

http://keiththompsonart.com/images/full/legiontank.jpg

The King Bull Fire Support Platform is adorned with armor piercing repeater weaponry and able to engange enemy forces in a complete, 360 degree field of fire whilst maintaining enough armour to withstand enemy response. These vehicles are commonly deployed as mobile firing positions surrounded by defensive deployments of Guard squads equipped with heavy machine guns and rockets. The pintle mounted machinegun possesses limited anti-aircraft capabilities but is mainly used as an anti-infantry weapon.

http://keiththompsonart.com/images/full/confontos.jpg

Nicknamed "The Giant" by attached Guard units, this armoured behemoth sports a small number of highly potent weaponry and comes in three variations.

The first, the more common Blitzdonner tank, utilizes a high calibre anti-vehicle armour piercing round that detonates after the shell has penetrated the targets armour - this is primarily used to support infantry deployments and operates as a tank hunter, engaging armoured targets when they reveal themselves.

The second, and slightly rarer, variant makes use of a 6-barreled Höllefeur weapons system that fires a single and wide spreading buckshot of shredded phosphorous fragments amidst a stream of incendiary liquid to incinerate, blind and melt a wide area of enemy combatants. A single shot weapon, roughly 30 seconds is required to load a new series of rounds before unleashing the fiery death this vehicle is notable for.

The third and more prestigous vehicle is the Schachtisch Battle Command unit, solely used as a base of field operations by Generals in the field. Its thick armour and ablative coating mean that the officer inside can safely carry out the process of receiving and giving orders to his men on the ground aided by a small entourage of advisors and a repeatedly printed battle map, updated every 30 seconds. Armed with a canopy mounted machine gun and the same repeating cannon found on the Firelance.

http://keiththompsonart.com/images/full/pirateartillery.jpg

The powerful and thundering cannons of the Godhammer Artillery strike fear into the hearts of Reichstahl's enemies. Able to fire a wide variety of incendiary, high-explosive and chemical rounds ahead of Guard units, these vehicles are a potent display of the industrial prowess of the Emperor's army. On hand are the devestating Höllefeur rounds, adapted from the tank variant's armoury to disperse in the air above the enemy's heads, bringing down a fiery rain of smouldering metal and viscous liquid. These rounds, however, are extremely precious, and are only used when particularly strong defensive positions are overrun and vital intelligence must remain out of the enemies hands. Several Generals have, when faced with dire situations, ordered the vicious payloads to be fired directly upon their own positions when all hope is lost. As a psychological weapon, Guard troops and artillery regiments are instructed as to the timing of their actions to create a terrifying co-ordination of marching and artillery fire where the stomp of field boots match the sequential firing of Godhammer barrels.

http://keiththompsonart.com/images/full/freighter.jpg

Fielded in vast numbers, these floating gun emplacements act as an auxilliary defence against attack. These craft can be seen hovering above troops providing aerial fire support and reconnaisance or around the Walfisch transports giving air commanders more security and defensive capabilities. These are often used to transport high value individuals to and from the battlefield at considerable speed over barbed wire and impassable trenches. The centre gas canister is protected by a thick layer of steel and no less then 4 machine gun emplacements and 1 repeating flak cannon. Air crew also bring their own weapons onto the craft, ranging from marksman rifles to hand grenades, rockets and even flamethrowers (the thick canopy ensuring operator safety from explosive gasses). Hydraulic claws enable the Grosswurm to grab onto cargo, attach to the Walfisch in transit and even (although these reports have not been confirmed) enemy combatants.

http://keiththompsonart.com/images/full/zeppelin.jpg

The Whales are the lifelines of the Empire, carrying the necessary resources and man-power between the super cities, large enough to carry whole regiments of armour and troops and encased within an armoured shell. These are armed with light anti-aircraft weaponry and flak guns that, although innacurate, are numerous in their usage. The main armaments are the several large calibre turrets and the devestating cannon array at either side. The Blimps are heavily armoured but also slow, the knowledge of heavier than air flight still a mystery to the Empire's engineers.

Territory

In my territory, all the land is dead, grey and interspersed withered/burnt trees still stand amongst the devastated countryside and ruins of buildings long sinced destroyed. The Great Wall is the name given to the Reichstahl's border defences. Whilst not a wall in the conventional sense, it is an expansive line of mines, barbed wire, trenches and command posts. The command posts are large concrete compounds from which zeppelins deploy troops and vehicles, artillery is directed and communications are transmitted. They are heavily defended with large calibre artillery guns and machine guns and usually have air deployments to assist in combat and observation. Between these, however, lie the more sporadic defences. A network of trenches, minefields, machine gun emplacements, pillboxes and armoured dug-ins.

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c131/3dbattleart/Panther%20street%20turret/panther1.jpg

The main force manning these defences are the Guard, equipped with a multitude of weapons like flamethrowers, rifles, machine guns and rocket launchers. Phosphorous and other chemical grenades and rounds are a particularly popular weapon amongst the Guard to "soften up" an attacking force. Several light airships (see Nation sheet) also patrol the lines.

This Wall has several layers in some areas, enabling the defending forces to fall back momentarily if the enemy breaks through. Also to be noted are the occasionaly (and some might say dangerous) practice of sending two man observation balloons out to scout for enemy movement. Armed with binoculars and a constantly transmitting radio, these teams attempt to spot any obvious enemy advance, although their destruction can be misleading for military intelligence, as it does not always indicate a large or small force.

Columns are essentially the Reichstahl term for an Army, named due to their lengthened formation of travel across what few roads exist in the territory amidst the muddy and treacherous lands. These units, once leaving the territory, form expeditionary forces seeking either to expand Imperial influence or to train up the defence forces with a bit of combat practice.

Most importantly, the Reichstahl is an isolationist, defensive army. Offensive missions to gain territory is rare, due to the stationary nature of their forces and the logistical nightmare involved in repositioning a hundred miles of trenches every few weeks. Instead, these forces aim to seek out important resources that can be used in Imperial Manufactories or to attack enemy infrastructure to limit their offensive capabilities.

There are five cities positioned throughout the territory behind the Great Wall, all of which are similar to the capital described in my IC post, but lacking Imperial Palaces (obviously) and are significantly smaller constructs. Surrounding each of my cities (apart from that there are no smaller population centres) are widespread population centres consisting of urban environments of concrete and steel.

Fox Xalian
06-21-2010, 11:49 AM
Nation Name: Atlanian Empire
Race(s): Human, various refugee species, mainly humans though.
Ruler: Fleet Admiral Wolf Xalian
Government Type: Empire, but during times of war it a under military rule.
Brief History: One of the mightiest nations when it comes too military and weapons and tech development. They lived on the only island continent just off the coast of the main land mass. They home was, unfortunately, sinking into the ocean, it had already taken a crescent moon shape. By the time it had completely sunk a grand ship was built; it now housed all the inhabitants of the island. It now floats in the air above the old location of Atlania, flanked by the ships of the fleet. But this ship is not just a giant city; it is also the command cruiser for the fleet, with fully working guns and shields.

At the outbreak of the war the Emperor, Fox Xalian, Wolf’s cousin, gave full rule to the military as per the laws he had set out after a small rebellion almost caused the Empire to exist no more. Also living within the Empire is the former Talin Hul PMC and the Volarian Republic, both of which had been displaced when the island sunk into the ocean after the rebellion

Notable Personalities: Fleet Admiral Wolf Xalian
High Commandant Sabre Xalian
High Commandant Emerald Silknam
1st Lieutenant Lucine Shula Silknam
Admiral Ice Nikalay
Admiral Cougar Nikalay

Notes: Wolf and Sabre are brothers, Sabre commands the elite troops, known as the JDA. Emerald is the leader of the former Talin Hul PMC. Lucine is her daughter, and the best weapons and tech specialist the Volarian Republic ever had.

Land Units
(Please note that these are not all the units, just the main ones, same with the air units)
Guardians
Standard troops, they make up the bulk of the Imperial Army as well as the main peacekeeping force inside the city. They have sliver shiny armour (think of the stormtroopers/clone troops from Starwars) that reflects their surroundings, allowing them to camouflage easier. They have personal shield generators, but the shields are quite weak. They use laser based weapons (again think Starwars).

Jetpack troopers. Similar to the Guardians, but they only use their jetpacks, their shields are slightly stronger. They have acid grenade launchers, which, as the name suggests, launch acidic grenades that eat through armour, their only real weakness is fast flying units and anti-air units/defenses.
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q173/sigma830/Soldiers/soldier-1532.jpg

Growler MBT
Standard main battle tank(MBT). Uses mass accelerator cannons to destroy their enemies. They make up the bulk of the Imperial Armour division. Strong against other tanks of equal or lesser type (light tanks down to small recon vehicles, like Technicals and Humvees) and ground troops. Only weaknesses are air units, mainly bombers, and anti-tank equipment, including heavy tanks. Their armour and shields are fairly strong.

Shredder Annihilator Tank
Heaviest tank in the Imperial Army. Utilitises heavy multi-barrel, rapid fire desiccator missile launchers. This tank is always used with a large escort consisting of, but not limited too, 40 Guardians, 20 Enforcers and 10 Growlers. A typical group will have two Shredders. They get their nickname for the fact that their weapon literally shreds anything it fires at. The barrel has full 360-degree rotation, allowing it to fight effectively when completely surrounded. The only real weakness is bombers and large numbers, as well as anti-tank weapons. Their weapon strength has reduced their speed and armour, but to compensate their shields have been increased to rival even that of a frigate.
Air Units
Striker-class fighter
Standard fighter. Uses heavy laser cannons. Has the same armour and shield strength of a Growler tank.

Speed Strike Bomber
Extremely fast for a bomber. This is Lucine's crowning achievement, aside from a super weapon that would destroy the entire world instantly. It is a cross between the Valkyrie-Class interceptor, which is no longer in production, and the Super Nova- and Jericho-class bombers. Their weapons depend on the mission. They are usually escorted by 10 Strikers. They have heavy armour and shields.

Ships of the Fleet
(Please note this is not the full size of the fleet, it is just the ones I have thought up names for)
The Lacento
Capital ship. Wolf's step-sister Ice commands this ship. It is usually in orbit near the command ship.

The Losai
Capital Ship. Commanded by Ice's husband Cougar. It is always beside The Lacento.

Avia Carrier
Aircraft Carrier. Commanded by Wolf's adopted son and daughter, Midnight and Keelah.

The Kibalay
The command ship, and "island" that the Atlanians live on. Largest ship ever built. It is 22 square kilometers wide and 300 kilometers long.

Shadowstalker
Frigate. It is where Lucine works on her new tech. This ship is usually docked with the Kibalay.

Angelfire
Frigate. This ship is the sister ship of the Shadowstalker. It makes up the Avia Carrier's escort group, alongside the her sister ship.

Notes on the capital ships and the command ship: They are all outfitted with MACs (larger versions of what the Growler tank uses) and 2 desiccator missile salvos. The command ship has 20 salvos of missiles.

Notes on the Strikers, Guardians, Enforcers and Growlers: Look up the game Dark Reign 2 and look at the JDA units, I'm using pretty much all of them, I just can't remember all the names, I promise I will do that later though, I'll even try to find some pretty pictures of them.

Fox Xalian

Also the command ship moves so yeah. And we are talking space fleet type fleet, not water based. Everyone should keep one eye on the skies now *plays the Ride of the Valkyries, the music that would be played when something important was happening, I also associate it with the Red Baron, a famous WWI pilot since every time he was shown in a documentary they would play that music)*

Fox Xalian

Search for Dark Reign 2 units, you'll have more luck, although it will also bring up units for the other side, the Sprawlers, but maybe that will give you some good ideas for a whole new faction/units for existing factions.

Just as long as everyone is balanced and realistic about the combat rather than going:

"My guys show up and pew pew everyone else and win"

But rather:

"My guys show up, take losses as well as kill the opponents before we take some ground"

And I hope people also post about their defeats and mistakes, after all, no army is perfect. Last thing I want to see this turn into is a "My guys kill your guys" "Uh uh! My guys kill your guys!" thread.

Nation Name: United Provinces of Fortuna
Race(s): Human and Elf.
Ruler: Supreme Chancellor Hiltra
Location: Northwestern Bay
Government Type: Oligarchy type Republic (aka. there is a noble class which elects represenatives. The represenatives elect a chancellor) There is also a caste system in place.
Brief History: Forged in the civil war which split the original Fortuna. After the war, the entire country was split into a huge seething mass of fiefs and strongholds, all vieing for leadership. The force that brought the various feifs/provinces back together was the leadership from a small newly instated fieflord named Constance. Through a series of takeovers and another brutal civil war, she brought order to the seething mass and re-instated rules and regulation. The feiflords would not give up their lands however, and it was instead decided that they would be the noble cast, with each of their lands being a province.
Notable Personalities:
High CommondoreConstance
Supreme Chancellor Hiltra
Units:

Basilisk-
The basilisk is a fearsome machine. Each of them is launched into the air with a single rider, and then plummets or flies from the skies upon the enemy, spitting death and distruction from its many guns.
http://thm-a01.yimg.com/nimage/78079ff00c0a23ac

Honorable Militia-
Armed with long auto las-rifles, combat knives, and emp grenades, the H.M. are the mainstay of the Provincal military. Though ineffective at close range, in large number they are a deadly force rivaling most military vehicles.
http://thm-a02.yimg.com/nimage/d276b5d08ed1b5b2

Provincal Commando-
The special forces of the Provincal military. Specialy armoured with enanched strength/blast resistant sheild bodyarmor. Armed with silenced auto-las rifle, sticky grenades, and mini-rocket launchers. They carry out the dangerous insertion missions. They also have a basilisk each at their disposal.
http://thm-a01.yimg.com/nimage/285da1ec8143b5a4

Noble Transport-
The basic transport of the Provincal military. It can carry approximately twenty-one H.M. including pilot. It also is used to transport armoured vehgicles.
http://thm-a01.yimg.com/nimage/b259345d0122652c

V12 Hovertank-
The main heavy vehicle deployed by the Provincal military.

Atat- (no not like starwars)
The basic fighting vehicle of the Provincal Military.
http://thm-a03.yimg.com/nimage/d3bb4cee19f59f80

Royal Battleship-
A massive flying fortress. Often seen flying over the capital or major engagements.
http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/14/13901/OrangeWarship3.PNG

Mentionable Escort-
The overall most common of Provincal flying vessels. often seen protecting minor cities or in the company of a Royal Battleship.
http://www.shipschematics.net/yamato/images/gamilon/battleship_conqueror2.jpg

The Provinces are mostly plains and farmland to the south and east. The close you get to the ocean, more population centers and centers of commerce appear. Right at the coast, there is a massive costal city, Named "Hi'val". It streches all along the inlet's coast, from end to end. At the tips of the inlet/entrance, there is a massive array of coastal guns, mines, and entrenchments to prevent acces by unathourized ships. (The ever shifting locations of mines in the water is a closely guarded secret.) Down near the Inlet's end is the Center of Hi'val. From there, massive highways lead to all other major cities. From each of the highways branch of roads and backways like a massive spiderweb. The landside bortder is currently only loosely defended, though defenses are being built up.

As said before there are numerous divided holdings, resulting in many small fortresses andfortifications, generally on a lone hill over looking the landscape.

While the massive plains are a disadvantage against land based enemies, it is also a bonus to the Provinces own ground forces. Easy travel allows quick movement of troops and equipment via the large highways. The abundance of fertile soil allows for a huge agriculture. The only mountainous area is the eastern inlet in which most mining opperatrions are based.

Ruler: Emperor Yoshimura Hakahito

Government Type: Constitutional Monarchy

Brief History: The Empire of the Sun has been around for millennia and has been at the forefront of many technological developments throughout history, particularly in recent years. For the last 200 years the Empire has shifted from autocratic, to quasi democratic rule, with the Emperor acting as head of state and the parliament representing the people. Both have fairly equal power and influence over the Empire and what is often supported by the Emperor is supported by the people.

In this modern age of magic and technology, the Empire has forgone its links to magic in the traditional sense and has instead pursued a far more technological line of thought in its developments and industries. Whilst many of the advantages of magic have been lost in this shift of priorities, the advantages presented by new and exciting technologies have led to a number of unique opportunities. Such advancements have not gone without sacrifice however, and the Empire has all but abandoned traditional magic, save for the use of limited magic to act as support for the technological systems employed. This fusion of high technology with limited magic has kept magic alive in the Empire, albeit in a specialised manner and in no way as diverse as the other civilisations of Sakaris.

Notable Personalities:
Emperor Hakahito – Emperor (duh)
Prime Minister Tokagawa – Head of the Government
Prince Hakahito – Second in line to the throne
Admiral Koshimara – Admiral of the fleet

Units

Imperial Footmen

http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090507114961/cnc/images/c/cb/RA3_ImperialWarrior1sm_%281%29.jpg
Imperial Footmen make up the core of the Empire's ground forces. Drawn from across the land, these young men are trained in basic combat and marksmanship and make for competent and effective troops. Equipped with the ZX Battle Rifle for ranged combat and a basic katana for CQB, the Footmen are a flexible yet basic force that can be deployed in a variety of situations.

Katsumoto

http://i900.photobucket.com/albums/ac201/Keragor2/Infantry.png
Katsumoto are the Empire's crack troops, drawn from the best Footmen regiments and are trained in the art of warfare and equipped with some of the best equipment available. These troops perform mainly special operations such as intelligence gathering and sabotage but also function as conventional troops, specialising in urban warfare and infiltration.

Oni

http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090111090611/cnc/images/9/9c/RA3Uprising_SteelRonin.jpg

Oni are the most advanced and fearsome troops currently deployed by the Empire. Standing far above the rest of the army, these monstrous creations have the strength and the speed of a thousand men and carry with them the will of the Emperor. Controlled by the husk of those that have gained the honour of the Emperor through death, the Oni are a fusion of magic and machine and are seen in a mix of fear and awe by those who witness them first hand. Oni are deployed to combat the much larger ground units deployed by other armies and in general act as heavy support units for the rest of the army.

Ice Dragon MTB

http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080522211911/cnc/images/4/4a/RA3_tsunami_tank.jpg

The Ice Dragon is the Empire's main battle tank and is employed en masse to take on the more heavily armoured ground forces on the field. Weilding less armour than conventional tanks, this is made up for with increased firepower. The main armament is a curious mix of directed energy and magic which when fired creates a beam that is capable of splitting rock and slicing through metal. Because of the speed of the projectile, the tank not only serves as an anti-tank vehicle, but also an anti-air platform for smaller, more maneuverable air targets. However, it is obviously uncapable of fulfilling both at the same time, so roles must be designated to various squads. The beam created is, by it's very nature, very fast and is also ice blue in colour, leading to the name of the machine. This vehicle, being so complex, is of great expense to the Empire and so they are fielded in lesser numbers than other more simple tanks. Despite this however, Ice Dragon squads are a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield.

Golden Lance Artillery Platform

http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090618160626/cnc/images/e/e3/WaveForceArtillery_RA3_Art1.jpg

Named after the fabled lance of the ancient hero Katano, the Golden Lance Artillery Platform serves a number of support roles in the battlefield. Using similar technology to the Ice Dragon, albeit on a larger scale, the Golden Lance can be employed as both a large scale anti-air and anti-tank platform. It's main armament is essentially a larger, far more expensive version of the Ice Dragons, however the beam is a golden hue in colour, leading to the name. Used on only the largest of combatants, the Golden Lance is a formiddable weapon, capable of penetrating the thickest of armour. However, the weapon lacks in self-defensive capabilities and so serves only as fire support for other, harder units.

Jiaolong Bomber

http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080628233621/cnc/images/5/58/RA3_EoRS_Sea-Wing.jpg

The Jiaolong Bomber is a curious machine that has the unique capability of being able to spend a limited amount of time submersed when not airborne. This allows the bomber to travel undetected for short periods of time, allowing for devastating hit and run tactics on coastal facilities and naval vessels. However, this capability is only accessible in a maritime theatre of war and when battle stretch in land, the bomber must resume a more traditional role of attacking ground targets. It sacrifices large amounts of payload for increased mobility and so is best suited for quick strike air support.

Dragonfly Attack Plane

http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080929173808/cnc/images/2/29/RA3_Tengu1sm.jpg

The Dragonfly attack plane is the mainstay of the Empire's airforce. Excelling in air combat, the Dragonfly is the Empire's endearing prescence in the sky, used primarily for combatting other, light air threats beyond the range of the anti air units on land. Whilst it's chain link guns are of limited use on ground attacks, the planes and indeed their pilots have been known to sacrifice themselves for the honour of the Emperor, using their own planes as armaments, however this activity is a rather costly tactic, used only at dire times.

Ikuchi Battleship

http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100605143227/cnc/images/7/76/RA3_Shogun2.jpg

The Ikuchi class Battleship is the pride of the Empire's navy. Large in size and bristling with a wide array of weapons, the Ikuchi is a formidable force that is competent against both sea and airborne targets, as well as being able to provide limited fire support for inland ground troops. Again, this depends on the proximity of the battle to the coast as far in land battles would be beyond the ship's range. The ship is often supported by an entourage of smaller dreadnoughts and destroyers that act more as scout ships than anything. The flagship of the Imperial fleet is the Nashiba, one of the newest and most advanced Ikuchi on deployment. The Nashiba is captained by Admiral Koshimara, the main commander of the Imperial forces.

Shinigami Carrier

http://i78.servimg.com/u/f78/11/68/74/47/cvx_310.jpg

The Shinigami Carrier is the only known naval carrier in existence and is the most recent addition to the Imperial Navy. Able to field large numbers of Jioalong and Dragonfly aircraft, as well as having large ground force projection capabilities, the Shinigami Carrier allows Imperial military might to be used to full degree whenever it is present in a battle. The rise of the Shinigami as a naval unit has lessened the need for traditional Battleships such as the Nashiba, however these ships still have unrivalled raw firepower and so are still strategically important to the Empire of the Sun.

A key theme throughout the units of the Empire is the lack of magic which present the Empire with some challenges not faced by other nations in that respect, instead relying on technology to try to make up for the inherent shortcomings of a rather unmagical force.

My territory lies around the bottom right of C4, bottom left of D4 and the very top of C5. So basically the coastal inland around that area.

I suggest we all get control of *roughly* 9 squares, or one large block basically. This way you can spread your nation thin, block it together, or even split up your forces to some extent.

What do you think of that idea Sigma?

That's the very rough map, I managed to trawl through the pages to find your requested grid references.

Roughly 9 squares are allocated to each Nation, unfortunately I had to add some artistic interpretation to your requests (because square nations look ridiculous on a map).

I have had to change my territory because everyone seems to have congregated around the central point of D4 (by average) and it looked ridiculously clouded.

Fox I believe your nation is mobile, therefore I have not given you a definitive territory, which I hope is a suitable decision. However I was unclear as to where your nation was (due to a previous grid reference and what your IC post said). I am confident that Version 2 is the correct one, but you'll have to clarify this for me! :)

Most importantly remember that these are extremely rough territories on the map just to assist you in working out who is where.

Any requests?

Of the Islands I own, the largest island of the three is the main one, being the most populated and it also has on it the Emerald City, the capital. The closest of the two islands is a heavily fortified, predominately military island that acts as the main base of command for the armed forces. The last island is actually a volcano that has risen up out of the sea and isn't of much use.

TheDashingRogue
06-24-2010, 05:41 PM

TheDashingRogue
06-24-2010, 05:45 PM
In fact, it's probably a good idea to describe our territories for the other nations' reference. For instance, although I have a good defensive line, it is completely stationary and virtually no expansion beyond my current territory is likely. An invasionary force would only be fielded in a full-scale war situation when hostilities reach their ultimate level. Expeditionary forces to achieve skirmish missions are far more likely.

Fox Xalian
06-24-2010, 05:50 PM
I'll do mine when I wake up tomorrow. But that sounds interesting TDR, seems the only real way across your territory would be by the ocean or the air.

TheDashingRogue
06-24-2010, 06:02 PM
Ground is still a feasible possibility, as long as you know where to attack.

Higurashi
06-24-2010, 06:34 PM

(What else did I forget?)

My only real territory at the moment happens to be the ship we use as a city. It is almost impregnable, with almost non stop combat air patrols. There is a 30 minute window where all defenses go offline, only enough for a small strike team to land. But with constant Bulldog (light tank) and Enforcer patrols in the city, along with Sentinel Towers every couple of blocks it is hard to even do much in the way of an attack, even so the 30 minute window leaves half the defenses offline, and the patrols are not active either. If the attackers can find cover before the window closes they will be able to stay alive long enough to take advantage of the next one. Really it's finding that window of opportunity, and exploiting it. Also, you have to find the fleets location, and once I take some land I wont be using that as the main area for the civilians.

I need someone to attack me.

It's no problem. I understand some of the players will have things to do in RL.

Edit: I have an idea. but I will need at at your approval Higurashi, and the approval of a second person to do this.

Maybe an assassin from my faction can go in disguise as a soldier from another faction and spark a war between them.

Higurashi

I'd like that.

Who would like to be the false aggressor?

Well I have a feeling things between me and the Manufactorum are about to get rather "heated" so I think I'll be a bit busy.

Oh, also I think I'll edit my post and change things. TDR, what would you think of our forces fighting in a western/eastern front-style stalemate.

Well since I'm on the other side of the land from Higurashi it would be hard for our fight to do much, but I need some action around here, so I'll be the false aggressor. Also I have something for me and TDR to work on with our factions. I'll PM you about it if you want me to TDR.

Post is coming now (it's gonna be a long one) - sorry for the delay, I was starting on it yesterday, but I decided it'd be more fun to dislocate my shoulder instead. It's strapped now so all's good.

Okay now with the Orbital Super Weapon I have in my reply, it's attacks can be stopped by destroying the asteroids, but I want some asteroids to hit so it'll show the Atlanian's have such a weapon. Hig, you now have to deside where the asteroids hit, it's a full attack right across the United Provinces of Fortuna.

Is that big enough, or should I add the Fortunan militaries response :D?

I'm just waiting on Sigs before I move on, then I'll put out a great big post - I have a few ideas I want to test out :D

Fox Xalian

I was kinda going for the Fortunian Fleet to retreat to do peacekeeping operations and enforce martial law, although the Atlanian Fleet would still chase them.

EDIT: YOU NINJA'D ME LANCE. I kinda also did a time skip with your character too so he's already with the fleet, just yet to meet Fleet Admiral Wolf Xalain.
