A Victorian Curse - 1867


There are tales of beasts in the night who kill without mercy. They lust for blood, power and riches. Their common name? Vampires. While many characteristics may be true, do not take them as simple creatures of legend. Each has their own fault and skill. Each member blessed with a past and a calling. Each cursed. To take up this quarrel is to accept an everlasting life littered with tragedy and sacrifices. Can you pay the price to live a life unique from any one else's?

I'll have set characters to be taken. Real photos will be used. Think drama, sensual actions and violence - thus is why it is rated 'M'.



The Tale

Our story begins in 1867, after the passing of a notable man: Lord Farren. The town knew him as a wealthy man who lived a solem life. The only company he accepted into his home were the odd nobles and servants. Most remaining within his gothic castle from the day they entered until the day they died. It was impossible to keep track of who lived on top of the hill other than to mark when a new trolly arrived to the dark home and when a casket left.

Over the centuries, people just assumed that the Farren Manor had been passed down from one son to the next. Most likely marrying one of the noble ladies that had entered the castle. It would seem common enough, until the start of the 1800s when stories were leaked of monsters who sucked blood to live. Suspicion began to rise in the town as some human casulaties became more studied; however, nothing concrete had ever been decided and their guilt was gone. It was simply a passing phase and within a decade or two, the stories would be swept under the rug. Lord Farren's death would simply be the mark of another nobleman's death.

But...Vampires know another story.

Lord Farren was a glorious clan leader. He had woven a history of victory and secrecy. In his 900 years he had sired hundreds of vampires - most of which outlived him. Some had broken off from his clan and created their own. The relation between the cults was completely dependent upon how they departed. The worse segration occured with Howard Barrew. He had been banished for killing a magnitude of humans within the city square, challenging Lord Farren. There was no room for questioning his authority, thus the Barrew was cast away.

It took fifty years for Barrew to establish a sizable cult. They began to riot against the Farren Clan, causing uproars and mass murder within the town the Farrens ruled. Their final act: poison Lord Farren with sour blood. Sour blood is blood from a diseased animal. For vampires, it thickens their blood to a point where they seize up and die. This was their leader's fate. In turn, Lord Farren's oldest, titled: The Classic Gentleman, took over the clan and made the choice to attack the Barrews. Blood was spilt, but in the end the Farrens won. They killed all but Barrew's first sire: The Lost Sir. The Classic Gentleman resired The Lost Sir into the clan to establish dominance. Now that the Farrens have conquered one clan, they know they can challenge whoever they want - if they wish. That all depends upon where time takes them.

Now the clan remains within their manor, fitting themselves into the outter world in the night. Some to hunt, others for company. Either way, members will fight for their reputation and meals as the clan, after 900 years, acquires a new master and a new adventure drenched in blood and hate.

The Rules

The TOS should be the only thing going through your mind right now. Follow them. Along with some other silly rules needed for this roleplay. Can you keep up? Like post at least once a week? Then welcome. Well...so long as you can write at a literate level at least. That means 3+ solid paragraphs with proper grammar and spelling. Next is respect. Respect everyone. Pretty simple - you can do it. Plan, plan, plan... talk in the OOC and plan some things. Don't plan everything, just start talking with the other roleplayers. Sexy times? Time skip it. I know many elements of this roleplay may imply this type of action, but really, just skip it. Adding scandalous details of it do not add anything to the story. Wanna Reserve a spot? Post here. When you post, it should be at least a little decorated with a picture, location and name of your character.


The Character Rules

Remember, we are playing as characters in the Victorian Era. This means to follow some proper manners: such as respectable young women - even vampires - should not go out into the streets alone for any social occasion. Going to a town ball? Find an escort. Men: be an escort. This is a two way street! I do enjoy steampunk so feel free to include it in this society. Vampire women are learned as much as males. All vampires are upper class citizens and should behave in some manner as such and dress accordingly...although rebels do exist. Just make it believeable...mostly. Remember: Vampires die in sunlight. None of the vampires are blood relatives; therefore, there is no incest. All characters will 'appear' to be between ages 18-40.

Please, call me Ren. To put my methods bluntly: I drink from the spinal cord of my victim. My teeth are elongated so I can pierce the bone...but don't fret too much about it. I have a love for the humans that my kin rarely know. In truth, I study them and try to live along their side which has lead to me to write a few books under the pen name: Winston Gillie. Maybe you've heard of my work? Killing the Undead is my bestseller. It explains how to kill a vampire...mostly. Really they're just fable methods I've made up such as using garlic as a weapon. Garlic, right? While mostly a joke, you may find a certain little Gentleman that hates the stuff with a passion and may just save your life some day! It's a little revenge for a few tricks played a decade ago, but you'll learn about that soon. While I'm on the topic...you could say I'm in love with a human. A certain Unconcerned human.

My name is Elijah, though you may call me Eli, if you are so inclined. My father never used my real name after all, 'whelp','idiot', and 'disgrace' were some of his more tasteful names, I will not reveal more in fear of offending the delicate sensibilities of the young ladies that may be present. I was nothing like my father you see, and for that I often met the backside of his hand. I did not relish what I did to the humans. I endeavored to minimize their suffering and to eat only as much as I needed to live. I did not partake in mind games or the 'sensual' feedings some of the others of my kind seem to enjoy. I prefer to numb them quickly with a bite on the wrist then drink the blood from their lower regions such as around the stomach or liver. I really can't stand looking at their faces while I eat, and I find the neck bite too sensual for my taste. It's really quite good incidentally, richer than some of the other parts, more like red meat I suppose…ha ha, 'red' meat.

Though I suppose it matters little in the end to my victims does it? Cruel or kind they are dead, and I am not. Survival is the priority of all that walk upon the earth, so could my actions truly be considered evil? Considering all hold the same goal in their heart? I suppose thinking so helps me sleep during the day. Quid erit, erit; What will be, will be. But I have already taken too much of your time waxing philosophic. You wish to know how I came to be a 'guest' of the Farren family yes? Well as I mentioned earlier I am the black sheep of my family. My father was a cruel and hedonistic fellow. He slaughtered many humans with wild abandon, humans that by rights belonged to the Farren family. Against my warnings he provoked them. I lost count of how many attempts on his life I had prevented. But in the end it was his lust for blood that did him in. A bit of sour blood and he was dead before I knew what had happened.

We fell quickly after that and I…surrendered. I went down on my knees and begged for my life. I am not proud of this, but it is the truth, I know that I may seem a coward in your eyes and I cannot deny this, nor can I change these events, as much as I would like to. Now I remain with my father's murderers, equal parts guest, hostage, and symbol of power. I try to keep to myself, minimize my presence. I despise their Gentleman leader, though there is little I can do at this point, only bide my time and hope that the next night brings something better, and if not, there is always the next night… It is not all bad lest you think me a cynic. There is a servant girl, Ignorant of our kind. She is sweet, and kind and oh, so lovely. I have wished to court her for some time but find my courage lacking. I have taken to helping her as I can though, shielding her from the worst aspects of our kind. Though I worry constantly that I will not be able to keep her safe….

I suggest putting it up on those two things and also...start messaging people asking to join. He thinks they should reveal themselves to the world and ultimately control the human race. He's sensuous, selfish, and capricious. He views humans as mere playthings and has a tendency to bring back...toys.

I would be interested in the female servant if she didn't have a crush on the male servant. I don't like RPing romance and relationship-type stuff; it just plain doesn't interest me!

I'd be willing to change that around for the "new face" without the crush. It doesn't add much to the character anyways, just wanted to make a love triangle lol And/or if you wanted to do the male, I'd be totally down for that too. This roleplay needs a good plot line...which it more or less lacks past social interactions. High class secrecy verses the rebel? It would be interesting.

The main clan would probably play him off as some rogue mass murderer to the town, attempting to keep grace and ironically act as theirs saviors while fighting him in public..lol It's an idea at least :3 Whichever is up to you!

I am okay with werewolves. I did 'ok' Cob's plan to be a werewolf hidden in disguise in the castle as the "unconcerned servant". His plan is to have his pack been killed by vampires so he became a servant to save his skins. He would have been the next alpha.

Otherwise, I'd be okay with a rebel, depending on what type of rebel you would like to be. If you'd like to be similar to Girly's rebel character, we could possibly make the 'outcasts' another clan completely. you know: two against the world? Or would you play some sheltered vampire away from people? What were you thinking? :3

20, Male, Werewolf


Nero has served the Vampires for more than half of his life, being taken in as their prisoner of war. Well, you couldn't really call it a war so much as it was a massacre. Farren and his ilk had made sure of that. His pack had been the only one in the area, and incredibly small in size; his parents, his younger sister and his Uncle’s family. Pack numbers normally spanned between 10 and 25, but they were barely 7. His father had been the Alpha, and it was his right as the first born to follow in those footsteps.


But that never stopped the bloodsuckers from hunting them down like wild dogs. They were constantly on the run in the wilderness surrounding the Farren Manor, never able to stray too far; Werewolves had the duty of protecting humankind. But in the past few years, the guardians’ numbers had started to dwindle. Apparently the vampires weren't keen on dieting.


Finally, the got over trying to skirt around Nero’s pack, and decided instead on a head-on approach. Two thirds of the pack were eradicated over the span of two weeks; the bloodsuckers were patient. What followed was a week of terrifying silence. His father did his best to try and preserve the remainder of the pack, but he knew in his heart that he couldn't leave. He needed to protect those humans. Nero didn't understand this, and just wished that both sides could leave well enough alone.


A day before they were due to head to the next section of forest, Lord Farren himself came to seal their fate. He slaughtered Nero’s family right before his eyes. That was the night Nero first turned. As he tried to scream, a howl instead filled the night sky. Never before had one of his kind shifted at such a young age. Before most of the vampires had realised what had happened, he had knocked Farren over and gone for his throat.


Unfortunately for Nero, Farren was much stronger than he looked. He sent the young pup flying back and into a tree. The change left him then, and as he struggled to stand, the Vampire Lord laughed and ordered the rest of his people to leave them.


“You are quite the lively one, aren’t you boy?”


Nero blacked out after that, and when he woke up he was chained up like a dog in the Manor’s basement. Lord Farren came to visit him, and offered to end his suffering. At eight years old, the boy knew he wasn’t ready to die, and begged for his life.


“That fire I saw in you… It appears to have burnt out. Such a pity. But I will spare you on the condition that you serve Me, and my Clan, for the rest of your wretched existence.”

Nero agreed.

How Farren had even gotten him into the manor without rousing suspicion was beyond the boy's contemplation. But it soon became quite clear that these creatures who slaughtered his family, had no idea who he really was. Well, ya see, what happened here is I got too carried away and forgot to mention that no one but Farren knew about this arrangement. I'll write it in, but basically the cover story is, Farren was like "Yeah, I found this kid wandering the woods. He said he was homeless. So I gave him a home."

And.. now that Farren's dead, Nero's the only one who knows about their deal.

My name is Winifred, but you may call me Winnie if you so desire, as that is what all of my dear friends called me back home. I didn't grow up with much money; my dad died when I was young and my mum worked at what she said was a large castle far away, leaving my nanny and myself. Ah...my mum...what a beautiful woman. Whenever mum would come home, she would speak of the man she worked for. Said his name was Lord Farren. I always remember mum looking a wee bit scared when talking about him. One day she told me that Lord Farren passed, and that the castle was inherited by some sort of son of his. After that, she came home less and less often, and when she finally arrived she would look pale and dazed, like something incomprehensible had happened to her. I became worried for her, but she cautioned me not to fret and would go back to that castle to work...until about a year ago, when she didn't come back anymore.

I waited months for her return, but I grew weary and ventured out in the middle of the night with some bread and money to look for the castle mum always talked about. After finding a kind man to help me find my way by horseback, it took us a fortnight of traveling before he admitted we were lost. We were far out of the town by then and were in the woods somewhere. I woke up the next day to find him no where in sight. Frightened, I took the horse he had given me and rode deeper into the forest, only to find myself more lost and extremely famished. I must've fainted, for the last thing I remember after that was waking up behind a man on his stallion. Unbelievably, he took me to the castle I had been searching for. Indeed, the gentleman that rescued me was Lord Farren's son! His servants took care of me until I was well again. I asked one of them about my mum, and he looked at me with a solemn face and told me she had passed suddenly in the castle from...how did he put it? Unknown causes.

Because of the gentleman's kindness and my mum's sudden passing, I asked him to allow me to take her place as one of his servants. He agreed and I am as of now in my second month of living here. Everyone is patient with me even though I have been a slow learner and slightly clumsy at times, but I am now beginning to grasp things here. The servants here are kind to me since they knew my mum, even if they don't quite remember my name yet. There is one who has caught my attention in particular...His name is Nero, and he is a diligent worker and appears to be one of the best known servants in this castle. I am too shy to approach him first though...oh, even the thought of it flusters me!

Though the master of the castle is a true gentleman, I cannot help but feel that he is an odd man, as well as some of his company that lives here with him. But it is nothing that worries me, and as long as I continue to be fed and taken care of, I will not fret over the matter.

I figured she could still be a new face even if her mother worked at the castle when Lord Farren was around.
...And yes. The classic gentleman toyed with her mother and killed her. Lovely way to go, isn't it?

I'd be willing to change that around for the "new face" without the crush. It doesn't add much to the character anyways, just wanted to make a love triangle lol And/or if you wanted to do the male, I'd be totally down for that too. This roleplay needs a good plot line...which it more or less lacks past social interactions. High class secrecy verses the rebel? It would be interesting.

The main clan would probably play him off as some rogue mass murderer to the town, attempting to keep grace and ironically act as theirs saviors while fighting him in public..lol It's an idea at least :3 Whichever is up to you!

Otherwise, I'd be okay with a rebel, depending on what type of rebel you would like to be. If you'd like to be similar to Girly's rebel character, we could possibly make the 'outcasts' another clan completely. you know: two against the world? Or would you play some sheltered vampire away from people? What were you thinking? :3

Damion is sensuous, capricious, dangerous, highly intelligent, and unpredictable. In these ways, he is not much different from the others in his clan. He keeps human toys just like the rest of them. His toys always last a least week. He doesn't consider a human who doesn't last beyond the night to be a "toy". Life isn't all about play for him, however. He also reads and studies a lot. He will sometimes go so far as to meet with top human intellectuals...after dark, of course! He considers them to be slightly less inferior than most other humans.

Damion, when he chooses, can speak in a certain tone which will calm humans to the point that, while they realize what is going on, they are not particularly bothered by it. Damion generally drinks blood from a human's wrist. His fangs aren't really all that long. He is faster than most vampires.

I hope this is okay! I wasn't exactly sure what kinds of powers you want the vampires to have.

I am okay with werewolves. I did 'ok' Cob's plan to be a werewolf hidden in disguise in the castle as the "unconcerned servant". His plan is to have his pack been killed by vampires so he became a servant to save his skins. He would have been the next alpha.

I love the outcasts as another clan. I was actually thinking something semi similar to Girly's char. She doesn't quite fit in with high society, and she agrees that they should be made known to humans, but she doesn't particularly think of them as toys. She'd prefer they just live as separate races in the same world. Peacefully. Yes she's a bit of a dreamer, but she hates living by the rules. Would that be okay? If so I can bring up a CS right quick :D

Judging by your ability to create this world and the characters within it, I would say you are more than capable of taking on the role of the Classic Gentleman. :) Since it's your RP, you'll have to do a lot of background work anyway. Being a GM comes with great power and great responsibility. :D I one time took on four roles to keep an RP going!

Anyway, hopefully someone will come along soon. If not, then you may eventually have to try and get one of the current members to take on the role, take on the role yourself, make him an NPC (which I also don't think is a good idea), make a current character the head of the clan, or give up on the RP altogether (which I'm sure none of us want to do).

I always imagined Ravenous to be a bit of a trickster. I'm assuming - depending on whoever comes/if they come - that basically gentleman had just started the feeding and Ravenous saw this happen. Wanting to annoy Gentleman (Since Gentleman was the lord's fav member and Rav was jelly as all shit) Ravenous decided to pick a fight. It pulled Gentleman away before he killed her and kept him distracted long enough that Saintly was able to be sired. Gentleman was completely blind-sighted. It's still a bit of a grudge.

Miss VanPlew comes from a highly respected family and she represents her family well. She acts like the lady she is and keeps her private matters private and handles any confrontation with class. Although there is a little buzz about her personal relationship with The Gentleman she refuses to spill any details to anyone who asks.

Don’t be fooled by the pretty face, Alessandra is a fireball in every sense of the word. She is probably one of the more outspoken women in her time, but she does it tastefully. Her words are coated with venom and her piercing eyes could bring a grown man to his knees. Alessandra’s presence commands attention when she walks into a room and she expects it as well. She can also be slightly manipulative to get what she wants. As for her relations with The Gentleman she is more concerned with what his family is all about and feels like he has something to hide and she is determined to find out what skeletons he’s keeping in his chambers.
