Mysteria.

The floating realm certainly lives up to its name. From high above, it would look simply like a massive continent, riddled with rivers. However, upon closing in, one would discover that this continent is actually made up of several hundred floating islands, held aloft by an unknown power. The geography of these marvels can vary greatly, from vast deserts to lush green forests to beautiful cities. What they all have in common is the system of golden, translucent bridges that seem to appear and fade with the sunlight.

One such resident of this realm, a Dragoon by the name of Lianna, had just enough time to take flight before the magic bridge seemed to shatter beneath her feet. Taking one last glance to the island that she had just left, her focus turned forward as she flew north, towards the large, black mass of energy in the northernmost reaches of Mysteria.

Locals called the area inside this wall of energy Oblivion. Again, a very fitting name. Lianna had been told that Oblivion was a cold, desolate region, almost completely devoid of sunlight, and that it served as a fitting prison for the offenders trapped inside.

The Dragoon had never seen a human before, and that made her all the more curious about them. She was told that they were cruel, manipulative creatures who thought themselves superior to all beings. However, the validity of such statements was left to be seen. This was why she was here. If there was a way to peer through the border between Mysteria and Oblivion, then maybe she could see what these "humans" were truly like.

As Lianna closed in on the border, something caught her eye. Curious, she changed course, and flew down towards the ground, where it looked like something -- or someone -- was there.

"Zedajah Liasian! Get in that booth before I whip you back to what you are, a slave." A loud crack of a whip sent the fox scurrying into a shooting gallery. the lesser brunt of pain of having the whip lash on his back and then be bouckled in pain when he would have small pellets hit him. Well that was the goal anyways.

You see, a long while back for Zedajah was this gypsey. The former fortune teller. Sadest thing was, she was killed trying to escape. Luckely she managed to teach this fox a few things that she had picked up, age made almost all of them a wild dream. One thing kept him with some lack of marks, his ability to make illusions.

The games were simple, hit the fox, win a prize. But you can never win againt something that isn't really there. Though he had been caught a few times by some of the smarter folk.

A sharp voice rang out, devilish as it was calm. "alright, lets see if today is your lucky day. you have fifteen shots, only one of them has to hit the fox. The more times you hit him, the more points you get for an even bigger prize. Now then, Let us begin!" Before he knew it, a spring board pushed him into the air, a quick move to the nex thing of cover was his plan. He tried to make an illusion, but with recent lack of sleep, as well as lack of nutrition in general made it harder and harder to push one out. Seconds later he was forced out of hiding as he was repeadidly pelted with small plastic balls, a nd a fierce look from the game manager.

The punishment was far worse this time as it has been the last few times. "slave, are you just hoping for death now? We feed you, we give you shelter, and we give you entertainment, all for free. Now do you have anything to say for yourself before we decide your punishment this time?"

A soft voice, tired and weak as the fox that spoke it. "You barely feed us. We live on the dropped food from our visitors. Death would be nice, but knowing you, you sick beings will make it even harder for me to make you any money. No energy, no illusions or anything. I get just enough calories to keep my fur on, the rest is leaving me hollow." He spat at the canids feet. the spit a thick white, showing that he was dehydrating.

A hard slap along the fox's snout was the last action made before the canid turned aside to a few more. It would seem as if the punishment would be ar worse than the beatings he started out with. though a internal smile grew on the fox. Perhaps this would be the one day he would be luck enough to not see the morning.

Mei-Hua Ming was terrified. And nothing much terrified that girl who had lived nearly her entire life enfolded in the shadows and the darkness. A howling gale sent her hair whipping across her face, lashing her cheek with enough force to bring out a red welt. Mei stifled a cry and stepped forward into the howling wind, every step draining her energy faster than she imagined. A cold chill ran down her spine, what if she had miscalculated? What if everything went wrong?!

And then, suddenly, Mei was being sucked forward. For a brief moment, she knew what a wonderful feeling it was to fly, but Mei was too deep in her fright to even care. She felt herself being tossed around from current to current, spinning around so violently she knew there was no way she could ever find her way out. Or back, for that matter.

And just as fast as the winds had appeared, they vanished, spitting Mei out and sending her hurting through the air. Mei didn’t dare scream as she hit the ground hard enough to send all the air rushing out of her lungs. She was too unstable, too unsure of herself. Someone could end up sliced in half if she screamed now.

Slowly, Mei regained her breath. Her galloping pace slowed as she drew in deep breaths, using her hands to push herself up into a sitting position. She brushed her hair away from her face, a useless motion, considering that she couldn’t see. Listening closely to the way her breaths rebounded off objects, Mei sighed in relief. Everyone was here. Safe. But on which side? Drawing in another deep breath, Mei asked, “Did…did we do it?”

Kay looked like the spitting image of a doe in the headlights: Body stiff in its position, yet limp to move anywhere else, eyes the size of saucers, and no clue of what to do next. For a second, Kay felt jealous of Mei. Seeing what had happened had only made the terror more real. Images flashed back into her head. She wanted to cry, but she also didn't want to be looked on as 'the baby'. Instead of saying a word, she drew back into a tight ball and rocked, slowly, back and forth. Her stomach cringed as it tried to unfurl itself and shake loose the unending fear.

Kay hoped someone else would answer Mei, relieving her from having to speak. Glancing down at it, she realized her hand was shaking and shoved it beneath her leg. She did the same with the other hand. She looked around, and, with an almost-silent breath of relief, was assured that everyone had made it through the monstrous event. She took in deep gulps of air, and let them out with ragged gasps. She wanted so badly just to turn and run. Even more deeply, she wanted to be able to run home to a loving family, a family who'd shout, "Kaysha! Kay! We missed you!" But of course, she knew the chances of that pitiful dream, becoming a shining reality, were gravely slim.

Unable to believe what was apparent in many ways, Kay tried to enforce the truth by telling herself, 'You're alive. It's okay. Now shape up and help Mei, help the others.' It didn't matter, though, the truth being that Kay sincerely wished she were dead. She loved her family of brave humans, but she'd much rather be watching from the safe sidelines of heaven, cheering them onward. Finally, the silence was broken by the soft mutterings of others.

Kay pushed herself up, leaning against something she dared not turn to identify. After repeating to herself that she'd be okay, she took a shaky step and pulled herself upward. She closed her eyes, then opened them to examine her surroundings.

Saggita Avaryne sighed over her tankard of beer. She usually didn’t intake alcohol, but these past few days had been stressful, to say the least. Now, it seemed, there was yet another situation for the angel to take care of. Saggita sighed once more before downing the rest of her pint and leaving a few coins on the counter for the barkeeper. He promptly swept the coins and the empty tankard up, but his attention was not on Saggita or any of his other customers, for that matter. Instead he was eyeing a brawl in the corner warily. No doubt he had experience with idiots who smashed up the tavern and found that they had no money to pay for the damages. Saggita practically had stacks of those experiences, although to be truthfully, she had probably been one of those unruly combatants at one time or another, chasing down her quarry. The only difference was she actually had the resources to make it up to the grumpy barkeeper. By the looks of these men, that was not the case.

Saggita hopped neatly off her stool and wove around wobbly wooden tables and chairs to where two large men were grappling. A stray blow burst right through a table, but the men kept brawling. Saggita considered the men for a moment before she spoke, “I would stop now, if I were you.”

The men didn’t even seem to hear her. Saggita drew her spear, unstrapping it from its harness on her back. She calculated her space and the timing of her move and then struck, rapping each of the men neatly (and hard) on their heads before thrusting herself in between them as the toppled into opposing chairs. They both rubbed their heads and then focused on Saggita. For a pair that had been going at it hammer and tongs a moment ago, they sure were in sync as they complained with the oh-so-intelligent, “Hey!”

Fixing one then the other with a glare, Saggita stamped the butt of her staff onto the ground, “Stop it and get out.”

“Oh yeah?” One man grunted. They duo exchanged glances and cracked their knuckles. Saggita side stepped almost lazily as they both lunged. Then, impaling her spear into the floor, Saggita grabbed both men by their collars as they staggered around and threw them out and onto the streets, shattering the already weak wood of the door. Walking calmly back in, Saggita retrieved her spear and threw a couple more coins to the barkeeper to pay for the door. Then she walked outside and slammed the butt of her spear into the ground near one man’s head, “Scat.”

The man paled as he looked at Saggita’s spear and then scrambled to his feet, shedding dust as he ran down the street, muttering about crazy angels and such. The other man took one look at Saggita and took off in the other direction. This made Saggita smile. Ignoring her awed onlookers, Saggita walked down the dusty road. Without warning, her huge, white wings unfurled, snapping out in all their glory. One minutes Saggita was there, the next moment she was soaring above the earth, scanning the ground for other incidents to deal with.

It was, after all, her job.

How many times had it been questioned? How many times had the theory been brought up amongst the brightest human minds? And now finally it had come to the final and greatest test. There were far to many emotions mixed together for Paul to adequately express any of them. It was an unexplainable feeling as everything around him took place.

His concept of time had become so skewed that he was unable to tell how much time had passed. Suddenly everything around him became still. A soft voice asked 'Did....did we do it?' It was shortly accompanied by a form brushing up against him.

With a deep breath Paul smiled. 'It would appear as though we have made it. I would suggest you all breath a sigh of relief because we have changed human history as we know it. Is everyone alright?'

Paul opened his eyes to the new world. Their surroundings were strange and the sun appeared just to be setting. 'So my fellow researcher what are your observations?'

Elly Carthage jumped out of the 10 foot tree, landing lightly on the ground, holding the rare flower triumphantly. She delicately put it in a prepared case, where it would stay on the long journey back to the village, she needed to give it to the merchant who was paying her to deliver it.

She picked her way through the woods, mumbling about how far she was from civilization. She felt a slight tremor in the ground, and her keen ears picked up the sound of conversation. She looked in that direction quizzically. There wasn't anything over here, and hunters never dared travel this far close to the wall. In fact, Elly was probably one of the few people that would dare go over here at all.

She sneaked her way over to where she heard the voices, hiding herself behind a large bush. She observed strange creatures she had never seen before. They looked pale, and weak. With no scales or fur...what were these things? She scooted a little closer and heard some of what they were saying "changed human history..." Elly's mouth dropped open. These couldn't be...humans. But they were strange looking...and did seem like they'd never seen a tree before...maybe.

Elly thought about what to do for a second. Common sense told her she should just leave and get back to the merchant. But natural curiosity wouldn't allow her to leave...She decided to take a direct approach. She stepped forward, using her best solider voice.

"Excuse me, who are you and what are you doing here?"

"Did... Did we do it?"
"...Changed human history.."

The voices were so distant, as if she had heard them from underwater. Noctiel shook her head and looked around. She was sitting on the ground, on soft, cold grass. What just happened had scared her, but she quickly pushed it away, as she did to everything else. It seemed like everyone was there, sitting on the grass around her looking just as confused ad she felt.
The air was different here, and the surroundings looked strange.
Noctiel started to realize what had just happened, and finally got the meaning of what Paul was saying. They had made it! They were outside of Oblivion!

Noctiel gently touched the ground, knowing she was the first human to do so in a long, long time. She took a deep breath of the fresh air and smiled. This was the outside.

She rose to her feet, and replied to Paul's question with a short "I'm allright."
The others seemed to be too, Kay was just getting up from the ground and Mei and Paul were talking so they seemed fine.
Suddenly, she heard a noise from the nearby bushes. Her heart started beating quickly, but she tried to calm down, telling herself it was just some animal. The smile was gone from her face, and she started to realize it once again. This was the outside. People knew what had been on the outside ages ago, and she had read all the books on it. But who knew what could have changed out here? Noctiel's hand was drawn to the knife in her belt as she caught a glimpse of something strange on the sky, but before she had the time to take a closer look, something came out of the bushes right in front of them.

The creature that came walking towards them made Noctiel's jaw drop. As she stepped out into the light, Noctiel could see that she had a long, furry tail and an elongated muzzle, and she was walking with an elegance that Noctiel could only dream of. It was a Canid!
She had read so much about them, among other things, that they were very territorial. She really hoped they weren't trespassing on this Canid's territory.
"Excuse me, who are you and what are you doing here?"

Noctiel wanted to say something intelligent about their escape from Oblivion, and that their intentions were good, but the words just wouldn't come out. She just stood there with her hand on her knife, dazzled by the sight of the Canid. She had never seen anything like her, except in pictures.
She looked towards the other humans, hoping one of them would know what to do next.

Mei let out a shaky laugh at Paul words. Changed human history. Yes, but not enough. Not nearly far enough. She surprised herself by being amazed that everyone had made it through. She hadn’t even realized that she expected something to go terribly wrong with their “experiment.”

Allowing the echoes from her breathing to guide her, Mei stood up and tilted her face towards the sun, a trick that had not been well used in Oblivion. But she had known such a skill might have come in handy, so she practiced when she could. But before she could completely decide what time of day it was, a voice broke through her concentration. Oh no. Mei, of course, had expected such an occurrence. She had not thought it would be so soon, so close to their entrance.

Knowing that her companions might still be in a shocked condition, Mei brushed her hair back and stepped forward, once more using her breathing to locate the person. Not human. At all. But that was to be expected. Even without her eyesight, Mei breathed out in wonder. She had heard of all the races outside the black wall, but experiencing such a thing first hand was stunning. Swallowing, Mei spoke slowly and quietly, hoping their first experience with the residents of the world they hoped to return to wouldn’t go terribly awry, “Ah, forgive us if have startled you. I am Mei, and these are my companions. We are here to” Mei paused, knowing this was the point that she could throw everyone into danger, “We are here to give humans a second chance at a life that isn’t spent dwindling away in the shadows.”

Mei had little choice. In a world of mythics, humans stuck out like sore thumbs. There would be very little secrecy for them. It would be better to speak the truth to this mythic, this amazing person that lived on the other side of the veil, than to attempt to lie.

Lianna's exceptional vision didn't fail her. Indeed, there was a small crowd of people -- of what race, she couldn't tell -- down near the border. But what were they doing there? The Dragoon landed nearby, hoping to get a closer look.

There was five of them, a few of them seemingly struggling to get their bearings. But why? What could possibly have happened to make them all so dazed? Unless... no. It wasn't possible... was it? Further examination was needed in order to get answers. Stepping closer, Lianna was careful with how she moved, trying her hardest not to scare them away. After all, if her suspicions were correct, she had so many questions to ask them!

Suddenly, another being arrived. This one was a Canid, which made the Dragoon tense. She could easily frighten the supposed humans off, which would ruin Lianna's only chance of getting to not only see one, but actually talk with one.

"Excuse me, who are you, and what are you doing here?"

The Canid girl was the first to speak, aside from the supposed humans' low muttering amongst themselves. She appeared more curious than angry, which was good, but Lianna was still tense. Canids were notoriously unpredictable, and one misread signal could end the encounter altogether.

"Ah, forgive us if we have startled you," one of the supposed humans responded. "I am Mei, and these are my companions. We are here to..." she trailed off for a moment, as if thinking of what to say next. "We are here to give humans a second chance at a life that isn't spent dwindling away in the shadows."

Lianna froze. It was true! They were human! She was suddenly overcome with joy, and with that joy came an immense curiosity. She absolutely had to know what these humans were like! Striding forward with a sudden confidence, Lianna waved a hand enthusiastically, unable to contain her excitement. "Hello!" she greeted them. "I certainly hope I'm not interrupting anything."

So they were human! Elly's eyes got brighter and she couldn't help scooting closer, breathing in their scent...it was soo...different. The girl who responded to her kept looking in other directions...was she blind? Elly leaned closer, intending to get more friendly, after all, she was the first one to discover them! And there was so much to know!

"I'm Ell--"

Just then a tall Dragoon burst through the trees, acting like an excited Canid puppy.
"Hello! I certainly hope I'm not interrupting anything." Elly turned sharply and stood back up, letting a snarl escape her lips, her hand back on her sword. These were her humans! She found them! She gets to talk to them! She wasn't going to let some stupid Dragoon ruin her fun.

Most Canids would be a little intimidated by their large wings and wise appearance, but Elly had grown up with Dragoons, she knew all their tricks. In fact she was probably more comfortable with Dragoons than Canids. But that didn't stop her getting annoyed when someone interrupted her. She was a little surprised though at how strongly she had reacted. She rarely felt this territorial over something living...maybe it was just the strangeness of the humans...yeah that was it.

Mei breathed a mental sigh of relief when the echoes that bounced off of the strange new person revealed no sudden or aggressive movement. Perhaps there was hope after all, legitimate, real hope. Not just a fool’s wishes. Her tone was friendly, too, thank-

What was that?! Suddenly there was a second figure, shocking Mei into breathing out a hard breath. Thankfully, Mei’s vocal cords remained silent and still as she listened to the echoes that were returning to her ears. Not the same species as the first, it seemed, but perhaps just as friendly. But even as Mei made this conclusion, the first mythic turned upon the second, a snarl tore through the first mythic’s throat, deep and feral. It made shivers run down Mei’s spine and raised goose bumps on her skin. This was not her world. This was a place where death could very easily run rampant. Even those who professed to be friendly could easily be killers. Mei had to remember that.

Mei closed her mouth and swallowed hard, hoping none of her group would do anything foolish. They might have had luck with their first encounter, but Mei had a distinct feeling that they she and the other humans were still toeing the line. One wrong step and that would be it. Holding out her hands palm up in a gesture of peace, Mei used sound to pinpoint the location of the two mythics. She tilted her head towards them, and it would seem as if she were looking at them head on, especially because her eyes were not milk white, “Please, we don’t mean to cause conflict between anyone, least of all between those of your kind.”

Mei hoped her words wouldn’t be taken as an insult. They would just have to wait and see.

Lianna's enthusiasm faded as she heard a snarl tear through the air. She slowed to a halt, glancing toward the Canid girl, who had one hand on the hilt of the sword at her side. It was then that the Dragoon had realized her mistake. This was a tense situation to begin with, and while she had been worried that the Canid would do something rash, in the end, it was her who acted without thinking. With a sigh, she shook her head in disgrace.

"Please," she heard one of the humans plead, "we don't mean to cause conflict between anyone, least of all between those of your kind."

"No, no," the Dragoon replied, raising a hand, "it is my fault. I let my emotions get the better of me, and it caused me to act rather unprofessional." She raised her head. "I apologize for startling everyone like that."

Paul stood a little mystified about what was occurring in front of him so quickly. There now was two spectacular specimens in front of him. Could it have been mere coincidence that they had been found just after bridging the barrier.

Paul stepped forward ahead of the others. He took a deep breath and began to speak.
'I do not wish to raise the tension here at all but it is a little suspicious that you both have already happened upon us so quickly. So forgive us if we do not quite believe your apology.'

His hands slowly clenched into fists, weary of what could come of this encounter. His mind quickly began to wander as he gazed upon the dragoon and canid in front of them. This was after all his first time seeing them in person. The differences between them both were elegant. It was truly fascinating.

'Look, let me be straight with you both. If you could help us find a place to stay for the night we could sit and talk then, right now though I'm sure there are a lot less friendly people out there that we would rather not run into.'

“Please, we don’t mean to cause conflict between anyone, least of all between those of your kind.” the blind one said after Elly snarled. She still felt a little irritated and was about to say "She is not my kind technically. She is a Dragoon. And she had no place butting in like that. "

But that darn Dragoon butted in again saying "No, no, it is my fault. I let my emotions get the better of me, and it caused me to act rather unprofessional." She raised her head. "I apologize for startling everyone like that."

Elly nodded, feeling a little better, at least she knew she shouldn't have snuck up on a Canid like that. Then the male (She thinks anyway, she is not sure how to tell apart genders just yet) spoke up

"I do not wish to raise the tension here at all but it is a little suspicious that you both have already happened upon us so quickly. So forgive us if we do not quite believe your apology."

Oh no he didn't! Elly wanted to say. Here he is coming in on her world...and he can't accept a lousy apology?

"Look, let me be straight with you both. If you could help us find a place to stay for the night we could sit and talk then, right now though I'm sure there are a lot less friendly people out there that we would rather not run into."

Elly felt her irritation returning. Who was he to tell her what to do? He wasn't even paying her! He had nothing to offer.

Elly resisted the urge to growl as she said through clenched teeth "I'm sorry you are so suspicious of us. Maybe we should be suspicious of you. After all, this is our world. It's a little suspicious you just coming through the barrier."

Elly tried to calm herself down a little, after all, she still did want to talk to the humans...dam her curiousity. She took a deep breath, but most of the irritation was still there, and she just had to put this guy in his place.

"Maybe we could help you. Or you could tell us what the heck you are doing here? Why should we take you anywhere? I guarantee I could fight off anything in this area. You need to realize who you are talking to. I'm Elly. And you don't mess with me."

Mei felt her stance loosen in relief at the apology. Thank goodness. What were the chances of two mythics that were friendly to humans stumbling upon them? But before Mei could respond, Paul spoke up. The other humans had been quite silent during the encounter, and Mei was glad that Paul still was there. Mei mentally cursed herself for not making sure that the rest of her group was all right. This was no time to be careless! And that was exactly what Paul seemed to have in mind. Mei had to admit, his words made sense but…she had rather hoped he would be a little gentler.

But nothing terrible befell the humans, and Mei let out a breath gently. She listened to the mythic – Elly – reply. Mei’s trained ear picked up the dampened angered. There was no denying that Mei was worried. After all, she had no idea of the capabilities of these mythics, and Elly’s anger only further served to prove that even those who were friendly could still pose a potential threat. But at the same time, they were the only ones that the humans could rely on. They wouldn’t make it far through the strange new world if they didn’t have people they could trust. There was nothing to it. Mei drew another deep breath, still aware that things hung by a thread, “Elly,” Mei paused; it felt strange to speak the unfamiliar name, to feel the weight that it carried, “This was once our world, too.”

Kay had watched the somewhat lengthy encounter silently, and now, it was getting to her. She had watched Paul, incredulously, insert more than just his foot into his mouth. Mei's diplomatic abilities and sharp, quick wit had saved them there. It could've taken a a very big turn for the worse if she hadn't.
Kay yearned to be brave enough to speak, like Mei and Paul, but didn't know what to say, and most definitely didn't want to mess up. She feared that constantly. Failure that would affect her family simply wasn't a choice...............but, oh! How she desperately wanted to say something, anything. She shifted her small body around to a slightly more comfortable position. Due to the intensity of the situation, even her ears picked up the smallest snap of a limb, or scamper of a squirrel. The light, yet shallow, ragged breathing of her companions was the only noise amidst the pause in the conversation. Her heart fluttered with, worry, excitement, and the inability to focus. Sleep deprivation tended to do that to you, especially when you were as young as she.
Several birds tweeted, and Kay gathered up her courage. She prayed that she wouldn't ruin it all for the group.
"Mei?" she said, her voice barely a whisper. She knew Mei, with her sharp hearing, would pick up on what she'd said, but most likely, not the strangers. There; at least she'd gotten out the urge to speak.

The dark sky hid Cailek and he seemed glide forward, barely having flap his long black wings. He descended a little as he spotted something happening below it. Although from the distance he was at they all looked like dots. He barely got involved and resisted his own curiousity, the last time that happened it nearly killed him. But this time there was no real danger. He had only just arrived, he had nothing eat, and was getting tired. Maybe a break would allow him to get his strength back up before finding a knew home in this place called Mysteria. It was perfect. The dark skies meant he could catch his victims off guard as he dived down and claimed his prey. He was not hunting now though, just exploring. Getting a picture of landscape in his mind. He began a slow descent, towards the ground. As he got closer he spotted another Dragon. Well it looked like a dragon. He did know that there were many kinds of dragon. Some even called Dragoons, which he never really understood. He rested his feet on the ground, and stood on both legs but allowed his wings to rest on the ground.

Before he would say anything he decided to see where all this was going.

Paul sighed and rubbed his forehead, luckily Mei was better with words than he was. He took the opportunity to continue their defense.

'My companion is correct Elly, our kind wasn't always strangers in this land and that is why we are here now....' He paused unsure whether to continue down that road.

'You are right though, it is rude of us to come here and expect to be on common ground with you. Allow me to apologize Elly, my name is Paul and I'm sorry. We are looking to gain as much knowledge as possible about this place, if either of you could help we would be grateful. Now we have nothing to offer except knowledge in return.'

Paul let his words sink into all within ear shot and took the pause to look around at the group that accompanied him. His eyes surveyed the others checking if they were ok. There were a few that still hadn't made any sign that they were alright and this worried him. However he was weary on showing his concern in front of the two new acquaintances.

“Elly,This was once our world, too.”

Elly turned to the blind girl from before. Elly was starting to think of her as the peace keeper. She did have a point I guess...but still. It was her land now...pushing down the territorial growl that tried to surface. Elly made a grumbling sound that signified she understood. If not begrudgingly.

Then there was a small peeping sound, that Elly's ears recognized as "Mei?" Her enhanced ears twitched and she turned to the small human Elly hadn't seen talk until now. She seemed to be addressing the blind peace-keeper, and obviously was trying to be quiet. Elly decided to let them counsel if they needed, and didn't address it.

By now the rude male decided to speak up again and Elly turned a raised eyebrow to him.

'My companion is correct Elly, our kind wasn't always strangers in this land and that is why we are here now....' He paused.

"Hmmph," Elly grunted, still a little offended from before, "I forgive you Paul. I suppose you must be a little frightened and reacted defensively. Happens all the time with my species...I will help you humans. Not because I feel any compassion for you, or want to protect you. In fact I probably should just turn around a leave now. I have a job I'm supposed to be doing...But..." She said with a sigh "My curiosity is compelling me to stay and learn what I can. I cannot speak for the Dragoon, but my guess she wants to stay too" Elly added that last part somewhat sarcastically, it was probably very obvious the Dragoon wanted to stay...what with how she burst in yelling and all...

Just then there was a loud wooshing sound. And Elly's ears twisted in that direction faster than she did (which was pretty fast). What she saw made her gasp and draw her sword. It was huge..and jet black. The wings were longer than 2 Elly's put together, and its face was menacing. It looked almost like a Dragoon...could it be? Another impossibly myth made real? An actual Dragon? Those were supposed to be extinct long before Elly was born! But...humans are here too...could it really be so surprising? Elly's brow furrowed, What the hell was she getting herself into? She had 10,000 coins guarunteed sitting in a pouch on her right hip. Yet she chose to stay here...Elly you're an idiot

Cailek looked at Elly, she had drawn her sword in self defence. He was starting to wonder why everyone assumed he would try to fight them. Just because he was a Black Dragon. He sighed, and said, "I'm not here to fight. I only just got here."
Cailek then looked at the humans, and realised just how many different species occupied this land. He was used to seeing dragon's everywhere he went. He only hoped he could live here otherwise he had no where else to go.

Mei’s lips twisted into a small smile at Paul’s more reasonable tone. She had worked with him before, of course, but it was always good to know that she could trust her companions. She was sure there was a reason that the humans gifted with magical abilities. Discovering that reason had taken a backseat to getting out of the confined world of Oblivion, but Mei was still curious.

Just as Elly was curious. Mei tilted her head very slightly, as if to catch a sound better. She asked, “And...what exactly are you?”

Mei hoped the question wasn’t too blunt. They were out of the storm, at least, it seemed, but not out of the forest. Still, Mei was relaxed enough to let her own curiosity peep through.

Suddenly, Mei heard the rush of wings, and her body tensed. At this rate, the humans would soon be outnumbered. As if the denizens of this strange new world didn’t already have enough advantages. Wondering if things would soon progress to a fight, Mei backed up a step, huffing out a breath to locate where her companion were. But, as it turned out, there was little need for this precaution. The visitor claimed to be peaceful. Mei tilted her head in Elly’s direction; she had heard the her shift into a new position, and the soft echoes coming off of her from the newcomer’s voice showed that she was defensive. Mei kept quiet, wondering how Elly would respond. It would give her a better guage of the personalities of the people of this world.
