Dead Zone IC (http://role-player.net/forum/showthread.php?t=52137&p=1760581#post1760581)

11/30/13 was the day that a deadly chemical gas was released across the globe. The gas millions upon millions everywhere, turning them into grotesque monsters without the slightest resemblance of humanity. There are many different creatures mutated from this gas, some can fly, others are 10 feet tall, a few breed like mice, and others infect others, and the lucky ones just turned into zombies. Luckily for humanity, some people were immune, it was rare and and only people in small towns or people who moved on the outskirts of cities, or a near a forest can survive it due to the low concentration of chemical gas in these areas.

The year now is 2016, humanity by the grace of god, has still managed to survive. People are desperately scavenging for food, medicine, gas, even basic shelter, it's almost impossible to though, due to mutants, zombies, and even worse... humans, because zombies and mutants can at least trust each other.

Setting

Our story takes place in the city of Jackson. Jackson is surrounded by mountains and thick forests so getting in or out is quite difficult. There are concentrated pockets of chemical gas inside Jackson so scavenging requires a gas mask, not to mention mutants, raiders, and all sorts of hellish nightmares.

http://i42.tinypic.com/2ah72f9.jpg

In the center of Jackson is a deadly place infested with the most dangerous mutants, people call it the Dead Zone. All sorts of myths have been created about this place, things like talking monsters, people claiming to see a queen, gigantic dinosaur like mutants, a local high school where the parasitic zombies breed, all sorts of hellish nightmares. The Dead Zone is a treasure trove of supplies though containing numerous small stores to loot for supplies, and the only hospital in Jackson, in there contains tons of untouched antibiotics, medicine, vaccines, and many more necessities.

Plot

The Dead Zone is such an important place in Jackson because in the main center of the Dead Zone lies a prize that would give someone ultimate control of Jackson, enough power to have all authority over humans and enough power to eradicate the mutants and zombies permanently, and a machine that can purify the air around Jackson and get rid of the chemical gas, a military armory that's been left untouched. Martists and Raiders, the two dominant factions of Jackson, keep sending in teams of people to scavenge but rarely do they return. With all the equipment in the armory people have started telling stories, making it seem as though it's a mythological place of salvation to the Martists and a key to power to the Raiders. Both sides want it, but who will get it?

There's only one thing for sure

http://i40.tinypic.com/cur2u.jpg

You're gonna have to dive into the jaws of hell to get it.

Factions

There are two main communities set up on the outskirts of town, on the south end is the local Wal-Mart that a group of survivors have made home and the north end is the park that the Rauders have made their home.

There are two main communities set up on the outskirts of town.

http://i40.tinypic.com/309j7fs.jpg

A large community has set up in the local Wal-Mart that was set up on the outskirts of the city. Mostly families, pastors, doctors, your everyday normal people who have banded together to create something at least slightly resembling the old world. They call themselves "Martists" and albeit not the most creative name they're the safest community and most humane. They've started running low on supplies though, Wal-Mart only has so much supplies and they're getting more and more desperate and have took to scavenging in the Dead Zone.

http://i44.tinypic.com/16bxyl4.jpg

The other community is on the opposite end of Jackson, a community of thieves, murderers, escaped convicts, scum of every kind are here. Their version of scavenging is finding helpless people and killing them for their supplies and taking women and children as slaves, people have took to just calling them the "Raiders". They usually ride motorcycles, quad bikes, dune buggies, and raise hell for their own sadistic entertainment. Unfortunately they're the most powerful community, abundant medicine, food, and water due to the park being located next to the river, however they are closer to the dead zone, so they have to fight mutants off quite often.

http://i39.tinypic.com/25jjqsi.jpg

"Lonewolves" or people with a small group to protect. They have a harder time fighting off enemies but the supplies they manage to get usually last longer. You can be this as long as you give a description of where your base is and attempt to make contact with other players.

Enemies

http://i39.tinypic.com/1ierg4.jpg

These are connected to the parasite hive mind but they're too far to reach the signal so they become feral and attack any humans on sight. They're large in number but have poor eye sight and hearing. They can't control whether they infect someone or not, if you get bit then it's a 50/50 chance you're infected. There humans who were infected but were too far from a hive mind to become a parasite. They're typically found on the outskirts of Jackson.

The parent species of zombies. They're a hive mind that calls in zombies that can reach their frequency to mutate into the parasites that they are.

http://i39.tinypic.com/9k8hnl.jpg

Mutated zombies who became part of the Hive Mind, they're intelligent and have been known to actually coordinate attacks against people. They can infect you but they only infect people if the Queen thinks they should join the hive, most would rather die than join.

http://i44.tinypic.com/2v2woi8.jpg

The Queen of the Parasites. There have only been rumors about her and people claiming to have seen her at the high school, some say she's a mutant who gained power over zombies.

Mutants that have infested the Dead Zone and made it their territory, they stay near the city because that's where most of the gas is.

http://i42.tinypic.com/2j0ytn8.jpg

Very rare to encounter, it goes without saying that if you encounter one you will likely die. You can set it on fire easily due to the decaying skin it has and kill it but that would only draw a large number of mutants near the fire.

http://i44.tinypic.com/2nk59na.jpg

Easy to kill but extremely fast and usually in large numbers. You can tell when they're near due to the horrible odor they release when they know there's prey to hunt.

http://i43.tinypic.com/qnp8qx.jpg
Possible to kill one with a small group but still difficult. They're not armored like they're female counterpart so bullets are quite effective.

http://i40.tinypic.com/2jbnrm8.jpg

If you see one of these run. They're always followed by a pack of males that number from 2-6, a fight with a female is suicide. On the off chance you fight her alone you'll still be screwed as her bones are used as armor plating, she's blind though and all of her senses have dulled except for touch, taste, and hearing, so hide and don't make a sound and you can be safe.

Rules
1. I'm GM, I'm lenient on things so I doubt there will be any problems
2. You can easily die on here, but your creativity can save you.
3. Be polite to others.
4. Don't kill another player without permission.
5. Be Active
6. Have fun!

The main idea of this RP is for it to be am open world survival apocalypse, you're character can be a Martist, Raider, lonewolf, whatever you'd like, I'm not strict and won't restrict you. I also need some help, I need two Co-Gm's, I ask that you make a CS as a leader for the Raiders or the Martists depending on which you want, if no one wants to though that's fine as well because I can make my own CS for them. This is the first RP I've made so I hope you enjoy this!

Name: Callan Roarke "Ghost"
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Appearance: http://i39.tinypic.com/161nkgx.jpg
http://i40.tinypic.com/2lks674.jpg

Role: Usually grows his own food and collects water from a river, but sometimes when he needs medicine or miscellaneous items he scavenges. Ammo is hard for him to come by so he usually sticks to sneaking around before he will engage in a gun fight.

Vehicles: An ATV that he rarely uses.

Weapons: An AR-15, .357 Magnum, and a hunting knife.

Personality: Cold, rarely speaks to others, he's suffering from PTSD from the things he's had to do to survive. He suffers from violent displays of anger and can go off the deep end if someone puts him or someone he cares about in danger. He refuses to tell anyone his real name.

Reputation: To the Raiders he's a guy that keeps killing them and hampering their progress for no reason, they're afraid of him though because he seems to always know where they are. To the Martists he's an enemy of their enemy but they don't quite trust him either. He's known to not hesitate to kill another.

Background: It was his senior year in high school on the day of the outbreak, the day started out like any other, he went to class, hung out with his friends, laughed, and had a normal life. Then almost instantly, people all around him just started choking and he seen rabid people breaking into the school, it was just like the movies he watched or video games he played, a "zombie apocalypse", but this was no where near as fun.

As things started getting dangerous in school they put it on lock down and held him and his friends in class. After a couple days on lock down, the school was packed with zombies who would soon become the parasites we know today. Ghost and his friends plotted an escape, it wasn't clever, it was more stupid than anything, they just threw a desk through the window, crawled out and ran for their life, running from zombies the entire way.

Ghost's house was the closest so they ran and got into his car and they drove off. They drove to the outskirts of town and drove into a valley to get to Ghost's house. Ghost arrived expecting to see his dad there, but no one was there, he searched frantically around the house for any signs that he might've been there but, there was none. He noticed there was a message on his answering machine, he played it and all he could hear was his father breathing lowly until finally he spoke, "Callan, I won't be able to make it, if you can tr-" the message cut off and Ghost was at a loss for words and this was one of the leading factors which turned him into the cold man he is now.

Eventually his friends left him, they had to go back and search for their families and Chance never seen them again. It was just him and his puppy (a curr named Tiny) for the first few months, desperately trying to survive. Eventually food ran out at his house and he had to scavenge and eventually he managed to get seeds to start a small garden for his own food. Now he lives day to day surviving. He's even started a small family by adopting a little girl he saved from some raiders a couple years back. He grows his own food in a garden and lives by a small river for water. He rarely has to scavenge for supplies but when he does, he covers his face in a black ski mask, fearing that if someone recognized him then it would put him and Kate in danger, because of this the Raiders have taken to calling him "Ghost" believing him to be a sort of boogeyman to them. He spends most of his time spying on Raiders, looking for weaknesses, studying them, they've not caught him yet.

Faction: None, he lives in his old home, it's deep in a valley between the hills, the valley is safe from zombies and looks deserted to humans but if people seen who Ghost really was then they would know where to find him.

Name: Kate
Age: 14
Gender: Female
Appearance: She's a small teenager, brown wavy hair, bright green eyes, an oval face, often seen wearing a cowboy hat.

Role: She doesn't do anything, she watches her and Ghosts' house , sometimes though she sneaks off and goes exploring.

Vehicles: Same as Ghost

Weapons: A small dagger and a .22

Personality: She's curious, often leaving home to go explore much to Ghost's dismay, she's also a trouble maker, outspoken, friendly, she has a kinship with Ghost, looking up to him as a brother/father figure.

Reputation: She only has a reputation with the Martists whom she goes to spy on behind Ghosts back.

Background: It had been a month after the outbreak and Kate was still waiting for her parents to return home, she was scared, lonely, and hungry but somehow managed to survive all that time on her own.

When she heard some people come in she thought it was finally her mom and dad, she ran to the front door to greet them only to be met by some Raiders looking for supplies, they held a gun to her and attempted to kidnap her, intending to make her a slave.

Ghost had been watching the scene the entire time, he was reluctant to help, he knew that the girl would die she was struggling too much and the Raiders were getting agitated. Ghost's last bit of morals won over and he shot one of the Raiders in the head and beat the other one to death.

Kate was scared to death of Ghost thinking he was even worse, until Ghost did something unexpected, he took off his mask and said "I'm not one of them, my name is Callan." she gave him his name and after awhile Ghost started to leave seeing that she was safe, but something about her kept him there and he spoke, "Your parents are dead, I'm sorry, mine are too and you're not gonna survive by yourself here, the world isn't how it used to be. If..If you come with me I'll try to keep you safe." it was terribly blunt and unexpected but she knew it was true and after this the two became something like a family, Ghost looked at her like a little sister, and after living together for 3 years she became the one thing keeping Ghost's morals alive.

Faction: Factionless, she lives with Ghost.

We are still accepting characters and will be for a while.

Weapons: Machete, Barrett REC7 and S&W .40 calibur

Personality: Ryleigh is pretty headstrong, when she wants or needs to do something, she puts her mind to it. She won't stop till it's done. She is flirtatious yet, at times can't stand guys, or people in general. But when she does like a guy, don't get in her way. Ryleigh is sharp-minded and is extremely witty too. She pretty much always speaks in a sarcastic tone. So she easily gets frustrated with younger people and the not so smart people.

Reputation: People think that Ryleigh is a bitch. But in all reality, she can be a total sweetheart.

Background: There isn't much to Ryleigh's background that she likes to tell, I'll let this slowly reveal through out the roleplay. c;

Name: Sophie McCallister
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Appearance: http://cache.desktopnexus.com/thumbnails/1241751-bigthumbnail.jpg

Role: cook and food scavenger

Vehicles: nothing specific, can't drive a stick shift

Weapons: Carry's a Katana across her back, along with a semi-automatic machine pistol

Personality / Reputation/Background: Sophie was a member of the Martist until recently.

She was out with her group trying to find more food for the group. There never seemed to be enough lately. They had almost exhausted their supplies of some basic food. Rumor was there was a small mom and pop store about ten blocks out that still had some canned goods and possibly diapers. They would be welcomed, if it were indeed true. With a few toddlers in the group, every little bit helped. It was the diapers that were her undoing. She always did care to much about helping others. Her dad like to say she was too soft for her own good. She was always helping people, giving them anything they asked for, or needed. Before the world turned upside down she had been a waitress. It was a nice diner, with small booths and mostly a breakfast crowd. She had started working there during school and just never moved on after graduation. She liked the people and the environment. She liked the table in the corner that was set aside for the homeless that would come in and get food. She always took care of them, sometimes before paying customers and especially when everyone else would ignore them.

Of course, all that was before. Before the virus that upended their life and pushed everything into this massive mess for survival. They had found the store, there were 4 of them, altogether. Sophie had been in the back of the store, while the others were grabbing whatever canned goods they could find. Spotting a large case of Pampers she had climbed on the edge of the shelving unit only to have the whole thing tip, and spill her to the floor.

She cracked her head, and must have passed out for awhile. When she came too, the room was spinning and she was under the shelving. Afraid to move, she could only lay there helpless listening to what was obviously the rest of the people in her group, being eaten. There must have been zombies in the back of the storage area. Keeping calm and cool, she waited until it was silent again, and managed to get herself freed.

Soon as darkness came she got herself out and headed back to Walmart. She is covered in cuts and bruises, and didn't see any teeth marks, but can't be sure. Finally freed and now alone, she headed back to the Martists, only for them to turn a cold shoulder on her when she told them what happened. No one else made it back. They refuse to believe she's still clean, and not now infected. Having the people that she had helped, counted on, treat her like she is now part of the disease, seemed to snap something that was threatening to break for a long time. She's struck out on her own and heading to the Zone. She's going to see what's there for herself, or find the Factionless. There has to be someone out there she can start over with. Someone that won't blame her for what happened. Someone that will believe in her again and help her believe in herself again.

Role: Rayne is a scavenger. She lives off whatever she can find or steal.

Vehicles: N/A

Weapons: Hunting knife. Sig Sauer 9mm with night sights. Crow bar.

Personality: Rayne is a loner by choice and circumstance. Barely surviving the past few years, her experiences have hardened her against seeking out others. Emotionally she is cold and killing comes easily, especially to those who are deserving. Her curiosity is her biggest flaw and she spends hours observing many of the factions from a distance.

Reputation: N/A

Background: Before the outbreak Rayne was a spoiled rich girl. She was pampered by her father who had several international businesses. She traveled with an entourage to distance countries and had adventures only dreamed of by many. She was very athletic, taking a special liking to rock climbing, skeet shooting and mixed martial arts.

At the start of the outbreak, Rayne watched her perfectly manicured life fall to ruin around her. She locked herself in the large estate for many months following the death of everyone she had known, the grounds surrounded by fencing and the home itself nearly impenetrable with iron-barred windows and heavy metal doors. It was only when the food supply was dwindling that she emerged from her fortress.

Rayne's first encounter with the new world was the Raiders. She found inner strength she had never realized existed until she was faced with such an adversary. She survived the encounter and after three grueling months escaped, her body suffering many scars, both physically and emotionally.

Rayne's adventurous life before the outbreak taught her many life skills which she uses daily to survive. She lives among the buildings on the outskirts of Jackson, never keeping a nest for longer than a few days. She moves among them easily, finding hiding spots at the drop of a dime. She carries a back pack with her containing grappling hooks and rope, spare ammunition for her hand gun, and a few days worth of rations.

@Valentinos: Take your time Valentinos,

@bluemoon: I'd like a minimum of four and with Valentinos and Merry Gentry we will have more than that. So once they enter I'll wait another day or two to see if a few other players want to join and so I can think of an opening IC post.

I'll also be accepting characters after the IC post to keep the RP lively.

__________________________________________________ ____________________________________

Name: Christopher Quinn
Age: 20
Race: White (American)
Gender: Male
Appearance: http://menfash.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/stubble-beards.jpg

Role: The Quinn brothers do not have a home, nor a particular community they are an official part of. Being the oldest, Chris is the leader of the two brothers and he does not feel comfortable staying in any one place for too long, not with just two armed young men at least. The Quinn brothers try to mediate tension between the factions and live off of them both through fair means of give and take. Adventurous as he is, Chris often comes up with quests and sometimes even convinces people to pay him for them.

Vehicles: My lovely Ninja 650R (http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2006models/2006-Kawasaki-Ninja650d.jpg)

Weapons: Glock 10mm.; AR-15; Winchester 30-30 repeater (heirloom); Various knives; Katana

Personality: In all honesty, Chris thrives from the outbreak. He craves the adventure and the conflict brought by chaos. He's always thought of himself as a champion without an evil to face, and now that evil is here. Now he can finally stand proud as a warrior among his forefathers. This crave for conflict may foreshadow a darker nature, but for now he has as good a heart as any hero. Chris enjoys joking, laughing and socializing, and he usually gets along with just about anyone. Chris is very confident, particularly when given a lot of attention, but can often lose said confidence if he remains alone for too long. Chris values loyalty above all else and despite his darker nature and love for conflict, he's an affectionate friend and companion.

Reputation: Some think of the Quinn brothers as peacekeepers, and others think of them as troublemakers. They're known to spend a fair amount of time mingling with Raiders, and as a result most of the Martists don't trust them. Regardless, the Quinn brothers are welcome in Martist territory and have been known to be helpful. Chris' frequent questing has caused him and his brother to become something of folk heroes. There are many stories told of their adventures throughout Jackson, some true, some not, but all of them are embellished to some degree. These local legends have earned them the nickname "The White Knights."

A large part of Jackson's population believes the stories are nothing but tall tales spread by the brothers and only adds to their distrust for them. Chris absolutely loves the brothers' reputation, but Bryce thinks little of it. In all reality, most of the feats accomplished by the brothers are not as great as they're made out to be.

Background: When the initial outbreak came, the Quinn brothers survived with their family under the leadership of their father. They had formed a settlement which grew and thrived for a year under the leadership of Cory Quinn and his friend and successor Kyle Lyons who had served with him in the military for many years prior to the outbreak. Eventually, the virus mutated and new threats arose, along with an ongoing war between neighboring settlements. It looked as if the Quinn settlement would triumph over both the enemy settlements, but then the tides began to turn and the settlements were falling, including the Quinn settlement. Kyle Lyons had fallen in battle against a rival settlement and supplies were running low. Cory Quinn now looked to his sons and told them of a place called Jackson.

It was safe, hidden by mountains and forrest. If they could make it there, it would likely be a fine place to survive. He gave them his finest weapons, along with his motorcycle which he had been handed down to Chris, and the motorcycle of his fallen commrade Kyle Lyons, was given to Bryce. With these things, he sent the brothers off and wished them good luck. After a long journey, the brothers found their way to Jackson where they've lived for about the past year-and-a-half.

Faction: The Quinn brothers are independent and typically try to stay on everyone's good side. They are welcomed into the territories of both the Raiders and the Martists, but are much less trusted by the Martists. The Quinn brothers' morals fall more in line with the Martists, but they are much more accepted by the Raiders. All in all, they are protectors of the weak and have scuffled with their good friends the Raiders on many occasions over moral disputes. As for a home, they have none, constantly moving from place to place. Currently however, the brothers are using an old gas station on the edge of Raider territory as a temporary encampment.

Name: Bryce Quinn
Age: 18
Race: White (American)
Gender: Male
Appearance: http://data2.whicdn.com/images/60318681/large.jpg

Role: The Quinn brothers do not have a home, nor a particular community they are an official part of. Bryce follows his older brother loyaly and acts as an advisor, making sure his brother does the right thing. The Quinn brothers try to mediate tension between the factions and live off of them both through fair means of give and take. Bryce follows Chris on the "quests" he comes up with and always keeps an eye on his brother's back, supporting him with all of his courage and might. Being the daredevil of the two, Bryce is often the one stepping up to do the most dangerous tasks and take the biggest risks.

Vehicles: Modified R1 (http://www.raptorsandrockets.com/images/Black_metal/2007_YZF-R1_rr.jpg)

Weapons: Glock 9mm.; AR-15; Smith & Wesson .38 special (heirloom); various knives; Katana

Personality: Bryce has been much more affected by the outbreak than his brother. He is not as outgoing as he once was and is more serious than he was in the world before. Despite this, he'll still hold regular conversations and even has a sense of humor similar to his brother's. Bryce doesn't like wasting energy on unimportant things, so he generally tries to find purpose in what he does. He is sometimes upset at his brother's constant need for pointless adventures, but he goes along anyways since there's usually some good that comes out of it. Bryce doesn't particularly like the Raiders, though he may get along with them and they tend to be decent people, their morals are often twisted and out of whack. Above all else, Bryce values integrity and morals, he will go out of his way to do the right thing and has a general disliking for those who do wrong.

Reputation (Same as Chris): Some think of the Quinn brothers as peacekeepers, and others think of them as troublemakers. @Valientos: Accepted! But I do ask that you give the Quinn brothers a weakness though, they're a little too gung ho. I do like how they're playing the field though, but this could have some interesting plot developments for your characters depending on how ShadowMoses' character and the Martist leader deals with you. Nice touch with the Winchester too, I was wondering when someone would add a western touch to the RP haha.

@Low-Budget Man: Looking forward to it, there's a position open as the leader of the Martists if you'd like to double up? If not then I can whip up a CS.

Cool. I was thinking that they could turn on each other at some point in the story, that could be interesting. But yeah, I noticed that too, that they were a bit lacking in the flaw department so I'll think about it and get back to you once I've got an idea. Also, thanks for the compliment on the rifle, it was my grandfather William's.

Weaknesses of the Quinn Brothers

1: "Brotherly Love"
As with all brothers, Chris and Bryce do not always get along... in fact they seem to butt heads quite often (both verbally & physically). The two are divided on many subjects, for example: Chris prefers the company of the Raiders, while Bryce holds much more sympathy for the Martists. Chris would rather be out on an adventure, while Bryce would rather stay safe and avoid trouble (despite his being the daredevil/risk-taker). One would hope they can keep aside their differences during dangerous situations...

2: Dependency
Despite their strength as individuals, the Quinn brothers are both very dependent, particularly Chris. Though they may say that they would gladly be rid of one another, they likely wouldn't last a week on their own. They can certainly stand being separated however, so long as they have someone else to lean on. If something were to happen to someone or something one of the brothers had grown attached to, they would probably not cope well with the loss.

3: Women
Need I say more?

Chris' Unique Weakness

Temptation
Although Chris is well-moraled and strong-willed like his brother, he doesn't quite have Bryce's integrity. Chris has always liked to play the bad guy, and his darker nature leads him to ponder darker thoughts from time to time. Chris can only shake such thoughts out of his head for so long however and with enough effort, he's bound to give in to temptation eventually, particularly if emotions are involved for they will easily cloud his mind.

Bryce's Unique Weakness

Undiplomatic
Although he'd take peace over war any day, Bryce doesn't quite have his brother's charisma. Bryce usually relies on Chris to do most of the talking, but isn't afraid to voice his own opinion. He doesn't always take into account how others might take what he says, nor does he particularly care. Bryce is lacking in social graces and isn't always polite, even to friends. He usually means well, but his words can sometimes get him into trouble.

12-01-2013, 06:44 AM
Name: Dave Anderson
Age: 28
Gender: Dude
Appearance: http://thinkbet.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/beard-man-personality.jpg
He looks like this .
http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/c5/fb/70/c5fb7062187e802c3aa695bd4eb9d8e8.jpg
He usually wears this when he is going out in the field, when he is just in his home, he just wears whatever.
http://image.made-in-china.com/4f0j00tCKQTucGRDkz/Gas-Mask.jpg
He wears this along with the gear when he goes out.

Role: What do you to help your community survive? If no faction then what do you do to survive?
Dave Anderson is simply put a meth dealer and creator, crafting the former illegal substance and selling out to the surviving population. The substance is still quite popular even though many are dead. Dave sells out the meth to anyone who is willing, whether its kids or adults. The prices are usually supplies to make more meth and some food. He always accepts other things as well.

Vehicles: Does your character have a specific vehicle they travel around in? If you choose to have one you can't use it often due to low gas.
Dave travels around in a police car when the need arises.

Weapons: What weapons does your character carry?
I’ll be naming important equipment along with weapons.
-2 Glock 17 (9mm)
- Crowbar
-Swat Gear
-Gas Mask
- Backpack
-Hazmat suit at his base.
-Binoculars with one lens broken so it is more like a spyglass.

Personality: What are they like? Has the outbreak took a toll on them?
Dave is usually stressed and extremely twitchy, always fearing someone is going to attack him. Dave is always paranoid and rarely trusts anyone, fearing someone might go and steal his supply of meth and trash his meth lab. Dave can be quite charismatic if he wants to be, but even when he seems the friendliest, he usually has his hand on the trigger ready to fire.

Reputation: What do people think of you in your community? Dave is factionless so he technically doesn’t have a community. However the other factions have varied opinions of him. The raiders don’t attack him, mostly because most of his customers are the raiders and if they kill him then they won’t get their supply of meth. They have a sort of unofficial agreement with each other not to fight. The Martist have a fairly neutral approach to Dave, he hasn’t really done anything to offend them or done anything to really impress them either. Some of the Martist do deals with Dave however, so some of them are “friends” with Dave.

Background: Dave was a good lad growing up, he did good in school and actually made it up to college and received a Bachelor’s degree is chemistry. He worked as a journalist for a while, until he received terrible news. His mom had a horrible disease that required a costly treatment. Dave’s job as a journalist didn’t give him high payment, so he did the only thing he could. He started making meth to sell, eventually he made enough money to treat his mother and the disease was halted. Ironically however, literally a couple months after the treatment his mother was hit with the gas and turned into a mutant. Dave figured that creating meth helped him before, creating meth would help him now. As a drug dealer, he had experience with firearms and he used that experience to survive, fighting off mutants and other folk. About a couple of days into the infection, he discovered an area littered with the dead riot police, it was obvious that mutants had killed them judging by their wounds, it was even made more obvious with the dead mutants strewn everywhere. Dave quickly looted a suit of riot gear along with some guns and ammo. He was going to continue looting, until he spotted a large group of mutants moving toward his location. Dave used one of the nearby police cars to escape and continued using it ever since.
Faction: Dave is currently factionless, but he is slightly friends with the raiders since he does lots of deals with them. He is also quite popular with various loners who he supplies meth to. Dave lives out by himself in an five story apartment building, in which he has booby trapped in a variety of ways. Dave lives on the fifth floor and has his meth lab in another room in the fifth floor.

Role: Tyson scavenges or kills for the raiders.

Vehicles: Motorcycle

Weapons: 9mm Pistol and Combat Knife

Personality: Tyson is a psychopath, who enjoys thieving and killing. He is rather sarcastic and cruel. He doesn't care about anything. He is evil and mean.

Reputation: Some of the other raiders fear Tyson because of the way he kills people, so he is respected.

Background: Tyson was a psychopath that went on a murdering spree, killing his victims in rather creative ways, one summer. He was sent to prison for life where he worked out everyday. He ended up killing 6 prisoners for looking at him the wrong way. He was put in solitary confinement, for a year, and that's when the all hell broke loose.

Alright I got the Martists leader CS so I'll start working on an IC post and we can start the RP soon :)

Name: Valerie McCormick
Age: 42
Gender: Female
Appearance: http://i41.tinypic.com/2rneut0.jpg

Role: Leader of the Martists.

Vehicles: None, she rarely leaves Wal-Mart.

Weapons: .44 Magnum

Personality: She's scared of the new world and this is why she created the Martists. She never goes out with scavenging teams and has a paralyzing fear of mutants and zombies. She's strict but has the Martists best interest at heart.

Reputation: The Martists consider her the leader, she's the one who has kept things as similar to the old world as possible in their community. She has completely revamped the old Wal-Mart into something of a small village with a small make shift school, a clinic, a "army" though it's hardly large enough to be considered such. She despises the criminal actions that some of the other Martists participate in such as drug abuse, murder, etc. People consider her a hypocryte though seeing as she murders some of the Martists if she believes them to be sick.

Adittional Info: She's controlling the faction with an iron fist, her militia keeps people in line and if someone resists arrest they're executed, if someone is diseased with the flu she decides to kill them and burn the body to keep it from spreading. The Martists may seem good on the outside but in this new world it takes cruelty to stay safe.

Background: In the old world she used to have a family lived her life like any other middle aged woman would.

On the day of the outbreak she was dropping her kids off at school they were about to get out of the car until they started spitting up blood and choking, she was alarmed and drove them to the hospital of Jackson immediately.
Unfortunately once she got there she seen dozens of zombies roaming around attacking nurses and doctors. She saw that she wasn't going to be able to get her kids to the hospital and decided to drive them home, but before she did she turned around to check on them, they had turned and before Valerie's own eyes they attempted to kill her, their own mother. She ran out of the car with her kids chasing her half the way until giving up. She finally got home and seen her husbands car in the driveway, she ran into the house to find him covered in blood and coming towards her, she didn't know if he had turned into one of "them" or if he had just gone insane but she ran into her and her husbands room got a .44 magnum and shot her husband. These events have scarred her. These events are why she never goes out with her militia or scavengers.

A year of surviving in this new world she eventually made a group that slowly got bigger and bigger. They decided to fortify the local Wal-Mart and make it their base and now she is there absolute leader, determined to bring back the old world one way or another.

Gender: Female
Appearance: http://data2.whicdn.com/images/22243108/fb715f7bf841314ea2889e387f6b064f_large.jpg

Also gas mask
(http://images.wikia.com/creepypasta/images/1/16/Gas-mask-series-black.jpg)
Role: Eloise acts as a medic for anyone who comes by. She acts as a friend for both raiders and martists, for she'll help anyone who needs it

Vehicles: N/A

Weapons: She carries around a back pack, full of her equipment. She also has a somewhat set of knives

Personality: Eloise is very detached. Her voice never strays from something sarcastic, and she never shows an inch of emotion, other than to laugh at somebody. She doesn't really care for anybody, she gets on people's good sides for survival. Sometimes they'll give her spare equipment, sometimes they'll let her live, or she'll gain their trust so they won't attack her. Everything is kind of indifferent. She day dreams often of colorful lives but in reality everything's kind of grey. She gets by though.

Reputation: She's okay. She's saved people, or has made life easier for them, so there's nothing really to hate.

Background: Her parents were both very successful doctors. Her mother was a cheating mess, and her dad was kind of an alcoholic, so they were good for each other. Both disasters in their own right. Yet, they cared for Eloise and her well-being. Since Eloise was once upon a time bright and curious of the world, they taught her everything they knew. They got her books and demonstrations, sometimes they would come to work with her. After the gas, they set up a medic tent, for people to stop by and get help, Eloise an apprentice. But a horde of mutants came. It was so irregular, nobody could have expected it. The parents made sure she got away, but they didn't make it. Oh well.

Faction: Everyone, I guess. She just kind of wants to survive and not be murdered. She stops by where the Raiders and the Martists live often, to help out with anything. And if she sees someone hurt on the road, she'll help them too. She doesn't live in one set place. She goes to them

All right guys! IC is up Dead Zone IC (http://role-player.net/forum/showthread.php?t=52137&p=1760581#post1760581) I hope you guys enjoy it.

Also, so everyone is on the same page, when writing your IC post you need to make them head to the Dead Zone it can be for any reason, this is so every character can meet each other and so we can start having action a little early in the RP, it's always bothered me how some RP's take forever to get into action so I thought this would be a good start.

To any people wanting to join later feel free to post a CS and we will accept you, we will be accepting new characters for awhile.

Another thing I forgot to mention, our characters our immune to the gas, everyone who survived the initial outbreak without changing is. You only need a gas mask when going out into the deep part of the Dead Zone, this is where the mutants breed as well, the gas "fertilizes" them in a sense. Heavy doses of the gas without a gas mask will just kill an immune human.

Name: Maxwell Rook
Age: 32
Gender: Male

http://sidekickreviews.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/arrow-stephen-amell.jpg

Max is a solid 6 foot tall, 198lb caucasian male. He is built with hardly enough fat to pinch between two fingers anywhere on his body. From his days before the gas, Max's body was mostly covered in tattoos, but now that the idle days have passed and every hour becomes a scratch and scramble for survival, more than 20% of his skin is scar tissue. His hair is a dark, sandy blonde and his eyes are a piercing blue with flecks of green around the pupil.

His day-to-day clothing is situated in layers to take into account flux in temperature and atmospheric conditions. Minimally, Max wears a thermal hanely shirt (http://g.nordstromimage.com/imagegallery/store/product/Large/19/_7454939.jpg), G3 cargo pants (http://armypanda.com/product_images/k/171/gen2__Black3__84171_zoom.jpg), gloves (http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NjAwWDYwMA==/z/Ab0AAOxy3NBSc6Ae/$(KGrHqUOKo4FJgvnYFIeBSc6!e(j5g~~60_35.JPG?set_id= 880000500F), a tan keffiyeh/shemagh, and his worn steel-toed boots (http://img.rakuten.com/PIC/6732116/0/1/300/6732116.jpg). Only in extremely hot gas-free weather or down time in his camp or the Wal-Mart.

Usually, for the sake of protection agains the elements, Max will also be seen wearing a grey softshell Under Armor hooded jacket, D30 armored leather jacket (http://www.essentialstyleformen.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Icon1000_Beltway_Motorcycle_Jacket1.jpg)(in brown), and a northface beanie.

Max makes a point to never leave his camp without his Survivair gas mask (http://cdn.atlantictactical.com/images/uploads/p_HOW_753000.jpg), Type IIA mil-spec 10.5mm accelerator rope (165ft), and his go-bag (http://store.greygrouptraining.com/images/P/3341.jpg).

Role: Max does not live amongst the Marters, but he lives nearby and trades with them often, usually uninfected and salted meats for medical supplies and ammunition.

Vehicles: Pips (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b7/Quarter_Horse_Buckskin.JPG), his quarterhorse.

Weapons:

http://cdn2.armslist.com/sites/armslist/uploads/posts/2013/03/01/1165681_01_dan_wesson_44_mag_10_barrel_640.jpg

Maxwell's magnum has a 6" barrel with a topside rail and muzzle brake. Being a .357, it can also chamber .38 rounds. It is holstered on his right thigh in a leather drop down holster.

http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2012/289/9/8/green_arrow_bow_by_onemoretimecosplay-d5i0z75.jpg

The yew recurve bow has brass fitting as well as a brass knuckle guard. Max commonly uses serrated edged arrow tips and carbon fiber shafts. His quiver holds 15 arrows.

http://www.browning.com/products/catalog/images/035208l.jpg

Holstered on Pips' saddle, the X-bolt Hunting rifle is a high powered rifle with a 4x scope. The magazine holds 5 338 Lapua rounds.

http://www.trueswords.com/images/prod/c/post_apocalyptic_kukri_machete_540.jpg

13" tempered stainless steel blade.

Personality: Maxwell usually keeps to himself most of the time, speaking business when business is due to the Marties. He lives on his own in his lodge outside the city limits and has grown accustomed to living on his own, but he makes a point to visit those in the Martie compound that man a lot to him. Around those he holds dear in the Martie compound, Max unwinds and becomes a seemingly different person than the cold, collected, flint-hearted hunter.

Reputation: He is called "Wolfman" around the town of Jackson, the moniker bearing roots to Maxwell's bushy beard and his companion, Indy, a saaloos wolfhound (http://www.noe17.fr/images/utilisateur/CanensAfricae.jpg).

Background: Before the outbreak, Maxwell did very much of the same that he does now. He was a hunter for sport and trade. Before that, not much is known about him. His family lived in Jackson before the attack - his brother, his brother's wife, and their daughter. Being the "crazy" relative that lived in the woods to remain off of the grid, Maxwell was not permitted much in the way of visitation rights to his family, mainly by his brother, James.

When the gas spread across the world, Maxwell was prepared for the end of the world as he knew it. His years of paranoia in the styx outside Jackson had paid off when he swept into town with gas masks and filters to spare. Sadly, he was too late to save his brother. James gave his life to get his wife and daughter to the Wal-Mart, succumbing to being over exposed by the gas. At the end of the day, Maxwell had no choice but to put a bullet through his own brother's head and step into the shoes of provider for James' daughter and widow.

For the next three years, Max has done just that - finding uninfected game, skin them, cure them with salt, and trade them with the Marties, keeping a set aside for Sharon - James' widow, and Kelly - James' daughter of 18.

Faction: Factionless, though he does have his favorites.

Name: Kelly Rook
Age: 18
Gender: Female

http://i.neoseeker.com/ca/beyond_two_souls_conceptart_wx36s.jpg

Kelly is roughly 5'3" and weighs about 120lbs, usually wearing flannel shirts, jeans, an under armor softshell hoodie, and a windbreaker.

Role: Medic in training

Vehicles: Aluminum frame off-road bicycle

Weapons:
Skeletonized switchblade (http://xxxknife.com/product_pic/F00781.jpg)

Ruger .22 Hammerless Snub (http://picturearchive.gunauction.com/8324210507/11031211/lcr22%20%2013.jpg_thumbnail0.jpg)

Personality: Kelly is very syndical and something of a realist, having grown through her more developmental years surrounded by blood, guts, and death. Even so, there is something left of that young girl still left in her, the part of her that she curses as weak and haunts her with the nightly memory of her father turning and getting shot in the head by her uncle, Max.

Reputation: She is known for her good stitch work around the Marties. While she is not the primary care medic, she has the steely stomach to close up surface wounds. She has gotten more than her fair share of practice keeping her uncle together.

Background: After her father died in the initial release of the gas, Kelly was changed. She forced herself to become hard to the world around her, to cope with the constant loss of friends so close she could call them family. Gone was the girl whose greatest concern was the hottest boy band or the cutest guy at school. Now she helps keep the Marties together with twine, floss, and hot iron.

Faction: Marties

Appearance:http://25.media.tumblr.com/3a1ad426df1ac980f0d2fd309d514e2a/tumblr_msjcml5crk1rfsrezo4_1280.jpg

Role: Marcus scavenges, loots, and trades with both the Martists and the Raiders, but he trades much more often with the Martists due to the Raiders being sketchy and untrustworthy.

Vehicles: He has a busted to hell sedan that he tends to hide under a tarp he found, and keeps his supplies in there. He almost never uses it, mainly since he has a little under half a tank of gas left, and has to use his spare for more important uses. He mainly rides a bike when searching for supplies.

Weapons: An AR-15 with about four boxes of ammo left, and a Sig Sauer P226 with about seven boxes of ammo. He also has a small knife on his right calf, and a machete on his back.

Personality: Before the outbreak, Marcus was a fun loving and caring man. He had plenty of friends, and had a family. When the outbreak occured, he lost many of his friends, and within a few months, his family left and never returned. Marcus thinks it is because of what he did to survive, and tries to leave it in the past, but most of the time, at night he tends to shed a few tears before bed, making him feel very guilty. He is kind to some, but not all. He won't hesitate to kill someone if he's in danger. He can get very angry in certain circumstances, and will lash out at many things around him.

Reputation: Many of the Martists think of him as an intimidating, merciless man that trades with them. He prefers to keep it that way.

Background: Marcus was a small business owner, and a good one at that. He was successful in many endeavors to grow, and had a fantastic family. He was good friends with many, if not all, of his employees. When the outbreak began, he tried to get as many of his employees together, but ended up with about ten. Very quickly, they all fell prey to the monsters. It was only his wife, his children, and himself. After a few months, Marcus began doing more drastic things to keep his family alive, some of it disgusting his family. One day, he came across a man prepared to violate a woman all alone, and Marcus intervened, and killed the man. To make matters even worse, he demanded the woman give his family a little more than half her supplies, and right then and there, his wife made the decision to leave.
That night, his family left in the cover of darkness, and the next morning, Marcus found a single note that his wife wrote.
"You are not my husband." It said. And Marcus was alone.

Faction: Factionless, but tends to help the Martists every now and then by trading.

I might make another character, maybe two for both the Raiders and the Martists. Not sure though.

I can't say I know firsthand XD but from what I've heard it has pretty vulgar, chemical like smell.

SoulReaper, you're accepted! I like the drama in Marcus' background.

I hope the police don't search my computer, because when creating Dave, I had to look up a bunch of stuff about Meth and it looks suspicious as heck. "How to make meth", "meth ingredients", "meth prices", etc.

And Thank you! I'm working on a post now! :)

I can see it now.

"Sir, there's a man on the internet, looking things up about meth. Goes by the name Low Budget Man."
"My god... Send in the troops..."

And then Merry.
"Sir, there's a woman on the internet looking up multitudes of guns. Goes by the name Merry Gentry."
"She seem like a terrorist?"
"No sir."
"She's a terrorist. Bring er' in."

And thanks Red!

If that was all the government needed to put someone away, I'd have been in the big house looooooong ago.

It's a secret message we must decode. It's probably the secret to life

Unfortunately it was less of a secret code and more of a phone mess up. I was looking at the thread and I must've accidentally pressed reply. Sorry about that but the post is edited to actually fit in the story now.

Unfortunately, I believe Dead Zone is dead now. If any of you would like to continue please alert me, otherwise I believe I might just end this RP.

I'd really hate for it to die, I only ever got one post in. I put a lot of work into my characters too and I was really pumped about this RP. In my honest opinion though, I think throwing us all into the Dead Zone right off the bat was a poor idea. With so many characters doing the same thing, it got a bit convoluted. I get you were trying to sort of "skip to the good part," but there wasn't really any time for character building, we didn't let any of the characters grow on the reader before sending them into danger. Regardless, I still want to do Dead Zone really badly. I say PM the other players before you make any decisions though.

I understand what you're saying Valentinos, but all our characters were quite varied and spread across a city. If there wasn't a common reason to meet up then it wouldn't have been possible for our characters to develop because they wouldn't be able to interact with each other, I wasn't going to have us doing everything in the Dead Zone right off the bat, we were going to leave after the Lurker attack deciding it was too dangerous. The main stuff was coming much later. You should have told me you didn't like the idea though, I didn't want to make any of you guys do anything you wouldn't like.

I'll PM the others to see if they would like to continue, if you guys still want to then that's enough, we would have 5 including me and ShadowMoses and you guys, so it would still be a fairly decent amount :)

I agree with the way you set the story up, in my opinion...

Okay, I took control of the characters that were plot relevant to Low-Budget Man's character so now we can continue the RP.

I've killed off the people who aren't returning and the people who I left alone or took control of and left them in a safe location are people who haven't replied to me yet or weren't plot relevant to the story. So I suppose Dead Zone is now longer on hiatus! I hope you guys want to still continue :) go ahead and post in the IC again whenever you would like.

The RP is dead so far, no one has posted in forever. Maybe it will revive.

There has been quite a lull in posting again. Are we alive or dead?

I wasn't aware people were still posting in the IC, unfortunately I would say at this point we're nearly dead. If you guys want to continue though I can attempt to bring some new life into this. Maybe start a new OOC. A part 2 I suppose, though there wasn't much of a part one XD I'd hate for this to die.
