The Jungle

There you were sitting on an ordinary flight, American Airlines Connecting Flight 104 from Chile to Los Angeles, minding your own business. Perhaps you were going home, perhaps you were trying to get away. Regardless of where you were going one thing is certain, you’re not going there anymore.

Two hours into the flight the pilot’s soothing voice can be heard over the speakers, announcing to everyone that they should buckle up due to turbulence. Nothing out of the ordinary there. It doesn’t occur to you that something is wrong until the plane starts to shake so bad you can hear the metal warping around you. Once again that voice comes over the loud speaker, only this time the calm tone has been replaced with fear, he tells you that everything is going to be alright, he is merely going to change his course and informs you to expect no more than an hours delay, but underneath his words you can hear that an hours delay is the least of your worries.

Fifteen minutes later the plane banks hard left, you can feel your stomach rise up as the oxygen masks above you drop down. People are screaming, the stewardess are frantically buckling themselves in their seats, panic has set in. Amidst the chaos the pilot must have bumped the button for the loud speaker, as the plane shakes you can hear his whimpers, oh god were going to die. The shaking gets worse and worse, you think to yourself this is the last thing you are ever going to see. As you close your eyes you here an extremely loud explosion.

When you open them you are laying amidst the tress of a jungle, you look around to see that there are a few people scattered around you. In the distance you can smell fire, incredibly you are still alive, but where are you, and what do you do now?

Thus begins are story, five survivors, in the middle of a jungle. Your objective, to make it to civilization, alive. Sounds simple enough, except for when you factor in murderous natives, killer beast, malaria, and a secret that should have been left in the dormant. So the essential question is, can you survive The Jungle?

The rules, love ‘em or hate ‘em, you have to follow them:

1. I am the G.M., what I say goes, if you have a problem feel free to PM me.
2.There will be blood, swearing, etc. This is a warning, those who are faint hearted might wish to look away, again you have been warned * in an ominous voice*
3. Respect each other, if your characters disagree with another character that’s fine and even interesting, but there is a line between disagreeing and being mean spirited, don’t cross it. Were all hear to have a good time and maybe even get disemboweled.
4.This is a fight to survive, meaning people might (more like will) die. I too will be playing a character, who could die. If that is the case then the Rp will continue, as they say the show must go on!
5. No Godmodding.
6. Have Fun!
7. Follow the general rules, i.e. there may be romance as it is a way for characters to develop, and there may even be sex, but keep it short and sweet, and don‘t cyber. Period. This is rated [R] but this isn’t [XXX], and besides you’re in the middle of the jungle fighting for your life it doesn‘t seem practical let alone… oh well, you’ve been warned*again*.

Personality:
Derrick is a genuine guy, he is friendly, approachable, and likeable. Derrick values honor and integrity, and can almost always be found wearing a smile. Derrick loves to laugh and cares deeply for those close to him. Derrick doesn't like to show his emotions too much, instead keeping them to himself. He believes that everyone else is going through enough that they shouldn't have to worry about him too.

Biography:
Derrick was born on a naval base, his father serving his country as an Admiral aboard the S.S. Maru. Derrick’s childhood was spent on the move, in accordance with his fathers wishes he spent most of his time learning about naval combat and the rigors of a life at sea. However with so much time spent with the Navy Derrick grew apart from it, and when it came time to become a full member of the Navy Derrick chose instead to go to college and earn his degree in education. Though this was not what his father had imagined he understood that his sons choice was not his own, and allowed him to do what he pleased.
Derrick graduated from the University of San Francisco with his Bachelor degrees in Education and History. Derrick immediately took a job teaching high school level history, and is on the fence as to whether he will return to college for graduate school.
Derrick was on Flight 104 from Chile to Los Angeles after he spent a brief mission trip assisting the under-privileged Chileans, helping to educate them and give them what little they could offer.

Possible Survival Skills: Though not a body builder Derrick has kept himself in shape. His time spent with Navy has also trained him in remedial survival skills.

Medical Health: Healthy as a young man fresh out of college could be, Derrick doesn’t suffer from any major health issues .

Everything was a little shaken up, but mostly in order, except for three of the medicine bottles has cracked and started leaking. Luckily, the medicine compartment is sealed and can't leak on the other things.

Relationship Status: Now officially single, seeing as the crash killed her boyfriend. But he was a bastard, anyway.
Biography:
Ares was born in Chile, really. She played in the jungles often enough, just enough to know what to do if you got lost, which she did, once or twice. Then she moved to America and got a doctor's degree, soon going back after a few years of work in a hospital to help out with giving vaccines to people back at home. However, her cousin in Los Angles needed her to visit at least once every two months, because the woman's home was barely livable. She often had to come up there with all sorts of things in her bag, the usual being washcloths and some things so she'd have to pay less when buying.
As an experienced and physically fit woman from running around and carrying heavy things, she's able to carry a lot and still be able to be fast, and her backpack was nothing compared to what she lugged around back home. She was on her way to visit the mention cousin on this flight before it crashed with her boyfriend. If it was anything she was scared of, it was planes. When she heard there was turbulence, she grabbed onto her backpack out of habit, as her boyfriend didn't like it when she clung to him. And then it all went to shit...

-Knowledge in the making and throwing of spears(for fishing she used to do back home)

Medical Health: Perfect, peak condition. Had all of her vaccinations and little to no medical history of any sickness or injuries.

Name: Selene Harper

Age: 23

Hair : Blonde and dark brown mixed.

Appearance: Selene is a tall, thin but sturdy girl with dyed blonde hair that is now growing out to it’s original brown. What once was long and beautiful has now become increasingly unkempt and is often tied out of her eyes by the tattered and torn bandana she wears. A cross adorns her neck which symbolizes hope to her and it helps her hold on to the belief that things can get better, and it also helps her to hold on to the last shreds of faith that slip slowly from her grasp more and more each day.

Occupation: Selene worked as a hostess and as a singer at a local lounge. She worked part time as a physical trainer in a gym.

Relationship Status:Single

Personality : Easy, go lucky until someone gets on her bad side but luckily for everyone else, it takes a lot to bring out the worst in Selene. Selene is very in tune with nature and has always felt a sense of psychic ablitiies. Selene is usually positive minded and even though things in her world have changed dramatically, she still always tries to maintain a glimmer of hope. This is also her downfall at times, as she sometimes doesn’t know when to quit. She has a dark side that tends to show when she is thinking about her parents.


Possible Survival Skills: Being a physical trainer and also having tried her hand at many different types of sports, Selene is in fairly good physical condition, her 130 pounds being pure muscle. At one time Selene had thought of going into the nursing field but realized quickly it was not the correct choice for her. Her training in First Aide along with some of the classes she had taken before changing her career path could prove to be useful as she, along with the others who hadn't perished in the crash would try to survive in the jungle.

Medical Health: Selene is in good health with the exception of the fact that she suffers from allergies which tend to get out of control when without her medicine, depending on circumstances.

Biography: Selene had been on vacation with her parents and they had gone out for their last evening in Chile, first having had dinner and then going to a local lounge to see some of the talent in town. Being a singer and hostess, Selene always tried to stay abreast of new talent and latest club trends.

They arrived at the hotel early so they could be well rested to catch the flight back from Chile to L.A. When the plane crashed both of Selene's parents were killed.


It was all a dream.

It had to be.

Appearance: Aaron is stocky and muscular from his past life. He has a scar on his chin, his nose looks like it has bee broken several times as well as a piercing on his left eyebrow. Has a celtic armband tattooed on his left bicep and chains tattooed on his his wrists. Has a golden chain wrist bracelet on his left wrist. Piercing on his left ear. Scar on his cheek. Gold cross on a small gold chain around his neck.

Occupation: Aaron is a Freelance photographer. Going to various places all over the world to take photos of exotic vacation spots for various travel agencies.

In his bag (assuming he can find it): 1.5 liter canteen, camera, 3 more packs of smokes, grey hoodie, boonie hat.

Relationship Status: Single; seeking

Personality: Aaron's personality varies from laughing and easy spirited to "shut the fuck up". Easily irritated when buggered too much about any certain thing. He does make an obvious effort to remain as kind and as civil as possible, though. At least he is trying.

Previous Survival Skills: Aaron was part of the IRA for a great many years. He has no college education, having joined the Irish Republic Army after high school. He knows how to treat wounds with limited supplies, scavenge, cover his tracks, and hide in plain sight. Also has knowledge from being in the slam for a few years, knowing how to make weaponry from everyday weapons, like plastic cutlery. Also, he is solid muscle and has impressive stamina and endurance from his time in the IRA.

Medical Health: Schizophrenic; on medication. Nicotine addict.

Bio: Aaron had been taking pictures for some "adopt-a-child" program by his local church. He offered to go an take pictures for a commercial and fliers to hand out at mass to encourage people to send a few bucks each month to help some unfortunate kids in Chile. He was on his way back when to L.A. when the plane crashed. He did little more than swear his ass off as the plane went down.

And I also want to let you all know that there will be a posting order, that is to be loosely followed. I just don't want to step on anyone's toes or leave them in the dust.

Personality: Loud, obnoxious, and generally full of himself, Carl believes that he knows best, and devalues everyone else opinion. Carl isn't a bad guy, he is just not the most friendly person to come across. The fact that he is allowed to carry a gun further validates his notions that he is the best person alive.

Biography: Carl was born in raised in Miami, Florida. He graduated from the Florida State with a degree in aeronautics, and promptly pursued a job working for the TSA. After ten years of service Carl was promoted to the position of a federal air marshal. Though Carl may be less than friendly, he thinks only for himself, which has enabled him to climb to the top of his profession.

Possible Survival Skills: Carl is trained to diffuse situations that involve terrorism, and has a rudimentary knowledge of self defense. His main prowess comes from his ability to use guns, however his pistol has become useless, rendering his ability worthless.

Medical Health: Carl is not in the best of shape, and his size will hinder him during the adventure.

Ava is very materialistic and doesn’t really have a good grasp on the “Real World”, however she is extremely intelligent but very rarely lets that show.

Biography: Born in Sussex, England to a supermodel mother and a has-been rockstar father Ava was always the pampered little princess. She attended an all-girls boarding school and then onto a finishing school. She left in the top 5% of her class, much to her mother’s surprise, as she was sure Ava would only ever need her looks to get by on and did not put much stock in the academic side of things. Ava began modeling a 3 months old, in a baby cosmetics commercial, moving onto catalogue modeling and eventually speaking roles in commercials for well known brands. Her most recent job was filming in Chile for a reality survival programme where she was the presenter and not the one taking part.

Possible Survival Skills: Had to take a First Aid course as part of the requirements for her latest job. Also, given a very brief survival overview by the team on the shoot…….she didn’t pay much attention.

Medical Health: Recently undergone a full medical and is in perfect health.

Relationship Status: Single.

Personality: Jolie is a mostly a quiet girl, good at listening. She may come off as coy, but will voice her opinion if she believes it needs to be heard.

Biography: Jolie is a southern belle through and through. Born and raised in Amite County she grew up on an old plantation style home. Her family was wealthy, being able to afford anything else that Jolie desired. Which wasn't much. The girl was happy with simple things, loving to read about geography, different cultures, and photography. After she graduated high-school Jolie moved to the capitol and through a friend of the family was given the opportunity to write for the National Geographic magazine. Without a second thought she jumped on a plane to write her first entry in Santigo, Chile accompanied by her cousin Mary.

Possible Survival Skills: Jolie went through brownies and participated in 4-H, also taking a real liking to Forestry. She is a helpful asset.

Medical Health: Healthy as a horse.

Bella hasn't joined us yet, but I have recently been in contact with her. While she probably will be coming over to visit old friends from time to time, she won't be continuing in the story and has asked that we allow her character to meet her untimely demise. She has not yet been able to rejoin RPA but I am fairly certain she will use her old name when she does.

Hey guys, it's been a little while, so I am here to throw some fuel on the fire!
Storm your up, then it's Roan, after that we're back to me. If for some reason you can't post soon just let me know, and you can pass for the round and I'll keep the story moving. I don't want to rush anyone, but I want to keep the story alive. Does that work for everyone?

Here is a rough idea of the posting order, I had one up on the old site and realized that it was gone. Once again it's just a rough outline, if the writing bug strikes you before it's your turn feel free to post anyways!
