THE STORY SO FAR...
The Planet - Crescent, a brief summary/history.
Welcome to Crescent, a world currently rebuilding from a planet wide war to defend from the hostile Zulthian nation. The planet, scorched and bloodied, finally pulled through to defeat the armies of Zulth and beheaded their leader, "Jace", for all to see in the nations capitol of Carange. Those remaining after the war formed a single unit of government known as the New World Order (or NWO). Though the people survived this vicious war, the planet did not. From the urban cities to the the lush forests, the entire planet had became a battlefield. Though some resources were available, the current means of harvesting them was rather unsuccessful. The effects of bio and nuclear warfare had plagued many of the organisms on Crescent. Mutated and hostile the non-human inhabitants of the planet defend what is left of the world. The environment on the surface was very unhealthy and was causing many health issues with the younger and older generations. After a few years of perfecting the technology, the NWO started a massive migration to the sky. These "sky cities" known as Laputas (pronounced La-pu-sha) provided a air is cleaner and purer and free from disease carrying bacteria, as well as safety from the creatures below. To stay in the air, "four gigantic generators shoot planet-ward electric rays which by reaction with the planet, produce the force to keep the city aloft.".
"The Rebels"
Although the Zulthian nation was destroyed, a never ending war rages on against "The Rebels" who oppose the NWO. "The Rebels" contain many of the remainder of Zulthian's now known as a "Z". Both seek to over throw the NWO but the "Z" are more focused on rebuilding the Zulth empire. However, they remain in the same group and live and work together down on the surface to survive and combat the NWO. They are banned from the Laputas, so are forced to live on the surface, building towns inside mountains, underground, or on the side of cliffs. They build where they are safe from the creatures. Although they are in battle, some rebel cities are more neutral and maintain trade between the sky and surface.
Sweepers
With little means available to successfully and efficiently harvest minerals and other necessities from the surface. The NWO utilized the Sweepers. Sweepers during the war were a one man piloted war machine. It's large exo-skeleton multiplies that of a normal humans strength and toughness thirty fold. Outfitted with smaller armaments and more tools for harvesting, the sweeper suit along with its new ventilation system is very well adapted to the surface.
The job of a Sweeper is to go down to the surface on a vessel, harvest their assigned raw materials, protect each other from dangers, then return home to collect the reward.
A New World
This new way of life has generated a safer environment for humans, however with this new way of life also comes new dangers. Among the human hostiles, sky pirates raid the incoming and outgoing merchant ships as well as raids on smaller towns and sky villages. Although the Zulthian nation was destroyed a never ending war against "The Rebels" who oppose the NWO.
The mutated animals are mostly hostile down on the surface. The Rebels have managed to domesticate a few and use them either as pets or for battle. No research field has been made to study the mutation and adaption of the new species, so currently little is known about them.
Sky Pirates
Unlike Z, the sky pirates have no association with the Rebels. Generally no association with each other either. They are thieves who thrive on the next big score. Robbing merchant ships, stealing rebel battle cruisers, raiding small towns for resources, they are feared and loathed across the land and sky.
