Reality Bites
A true-to-life zombie apocalypse rp.


We've all thought about it, in different degrees of seriousness, at least once. Personally, I've probably spent more time than is sensible devising different game plans - just in case.
The tale of the Zombie Apocalypse is a well-known and often told one, and who can honestly say they've never considered how they might fare were they to actually find themselves in the midst of an all-out apocalypse.

It'll never happen... probably. But it doesn't hurt to be prepared, right?

So what would happen? Not to the soldiers, the scientists, the surgeons. The poker-faced, bad-ass and beautiful ex-con who also just so happens to be a black belt in an obscure form of Martial Arts and not too shabby with a crossbow. This story will follow the bankers, single mums and that thirty-five year old next door who still lives with his parents, playing Call of Duty all day.

Our story begins on an average day in their average lives, right before the beginning of the end. Will they fortify themselves in a camp locally? Forage for supplies before setting off for a major city? Hack a radio to get in contact with the government?

Probably not - they're a little busy trying not to die.


The Plot

In case it wasn't clear above, this roleplay will follow the terrifying 'adventures' of a bunch of every day people as they try to survive the onslaught of the living dead. If you love to play a gun-slinging human weapon, this is not the roleplay for you!

The plot will be very player driven, though I have plans and schemes in mind; where we end up depends on what decisions are made IC.


The Setting

Surfers Paradise.

A popular tourist destination on the East Coast of Australia, the growing city is a mixture of skyscrapers, resorts and shopping centres in it's heart, and suburban-bliss style permanent residences and corner stores as you travel toward it's sprawling outskirts. The coastal highway that runs through the city, as well as the appeal of it's picturesque beaches and active nightlife, give it a bustling, crowded atmosphere at most any time of day.

Name: Isobel "Izzie" or "Sissy" Warren,
Age: Thirteen and three quarters.
Gender: Female.
Occupation: Student - 7th grade at the inaptly named 'Paradise Highschool.'
Appearance: Izzie's unassuming brown hair and eyes, teamed with her usually quiet, pensive expression should make it easy for her to go unnoticed in a crowd. She dresses in clothes typical of a child her age, or at least of one who has not fallen into the 'twelvie' trend; consisting mostly of simple, thin dresses and sandles or thongs; uh, flip-flops. Thongs for your feet. This RP is set in Australia so no one's allowed to make an underwear joke. XD
Personality: Her mind and body whirling with the chemical changes of puberty, Izzie can be somewhat emotionally volatile (hence the nickname; Sissy.) She has not matured quite enough to realise that the universe does not, in fact, revolve around her, and small issues can seem to her like unsolvable disasters. In her first year of highschool, and the subject of bullying, Izzie's biggest worry is that she doesn't have cool enough clothes or fashion sense to sit with the popular girls.

Items/Equipment: Her school bag. Contains one lead and several coloured pencils, two ballpoint pens, a notebook, some textbooks, a water bottle and a lunchbox containing a packet of chips, a muesli bar and a chicken salad sandwich.

Appearance: Beneath the dishevelled braid, the sallow skin and eyes darkened from lack of sleep, a pretty young woman peeks through. Usually dressed in sleepwear, or undergarments- or whatever she threw on the day before.
Personality: Hammer is a gun-slingin', fist-throwing weapon of brutal, awesome destruction... at least virtually. Since she spends so little time outdoors, she's not really sure what her RL self might be good at.

Personality: Jason is impatient and not the most empathetic person in the world. He wants to make it in life and succeed so he's willing to do anything to live his life out. He hasn't had a love interest since before before he was in high school. He spends a lot of time sitting around watching tv and looking at stuff on the internet because of the abundant amount of new content after spending a few years in the local penitentiary.

Since RPA has members from all over the world, and therefore all different timezones, RP's aren't generally played out all in one go here. People just post when they can, respecting either the GM's guidelines, or general etiquette if the GM hasn't given any (forum etiquette is basically; don't post back and forth between just two or three people - give everyone a chance to post, and don't god-mod - control someone else's character without their permission. As an example, if your character were in a fight with another player character, or a GM character you didn't have permission to control, you could detail your attack, and what damage you intended it to do. It is up to the other player to then post and determine whether or not your attack is successful. Make sense?)

But basically yes, you got it right with the second option - We take turns posting with our characters, and I will also make GM posts detailing outside events or bringing in NPC's, etc.

Appearance: A tall pale girl with a slightly haughty expression. She has long brown hair that is well cared after and glossy. Her eyes are big and grey with flecks of green hear and there. Her expression is usually either a frown of disapproval or a bored disinterest. Shes usually wears a white dress shirt, a stylish vest with a black skirt.
Personality: Jenna is a very intelligent girl yet although she is smart her people skills are highly lacking. She truly thinks she is better than everyone because of her intelligence and that makes her arrogant to the extreme. It does not help that her upbringing has left her slightly spoilt and snobbish. If one somehow manages to tolerate her for long enough to become her friend they will find her very loyal and caring (though still very arrogant). Obviously few do so she is quite lonely.
Bio: Sister to William but they are estranged because of their parents separating.

He usually wears some T shirt with some obscure Australian band on it with jeans and sneakers. When his on stage he has on a white powder wig similar to Captain Cook.
Personality: Very friendly likes to talk to anyone and everyone who comes to his bar. A great listener with a certain charm that makes people want to talk to him as he just exudes trust and comfort. Flirtatious with his female costumers and band groupies. Likes to have many short term relationships. Not much for long term commitment and is very up front about this with everyone he hooks up with.
Bio: Brother to Audrey but they are estranged because of their parents separating.

Personality: Veronica is an outgoing girl loves to have a laugh. She’s an all rounder when it comes to sport, being reasonably good at everything but exceptionally good at track. She enjoys making friends and tries to be as accommodating as possible but is always silently wondering what people think of her. She’s quite tough, being the only girl in a family of three older brothers.

Items/Equipment: A pair of old hand-me-down track shoes, that have been passed down through her brothers. Despite their tattered appearance Veronica won’t let them go because she believes that they hold both sentimental value and a hint of luck, having not lost a race whilst wearing them.
