God of: The Night
Faction: Pain

Ice Formation: Jonas has the ability to form ice at will. This power is relegated to his body-if he wants to form ice quickly, it must be on his person directly. To be able to go into great detail in the middle of forming, it MUST be in his hands. For example, Jonas could quickly form a thin armor of ice over his body, but if he wanted to make a cool-looking helmet for that armor, it would need to start in his hands. In addition, anything larger than a large ball of ice or a light to moderate layer of armor will require more than one turn to form.

Chilling pulse: Jonas extends his frozen aura outwards, rapidly decreasing the temperature in an area with a radius of ten feet around him. Frost forms on most surfaces, and any liquid in the area gets frozen solid and can be used by Jonas in the battle.

Ice Beam-Jonas fires an icy-blue beam of light from his hand or mouth. This beam is light-it has no knockback or direct damage, and cannot be affected by anything except objects getting in its way. On contact, it begins to rapidly form ice wherever it lands, but it does not have great detail until Jonas spends another turn shaping it. This can be used on projectiles to coat them in ice and make them fall short of their target.

Everywhere is an Ice Rink-Jonas touches the ground lightly with his foot, and skates appear underneath Jonas's feet. The ground underneath the skates is frozen as long as Jonas is there, but will rapidly unfreeze when he leaves. This lets Jonas essentially skate anywhere, the exception being on particularly rough terrain, where he will have issues trying to do such. Skating in this manner does give Jonas his speed boost on ice (see below).

Ice Manipulation-Any ice that Jonas himself has formed can be moved at will by him from a distance. Larger objects, of course, are far harder to move. Smaller inanimate objects coated in his ice can be controlled as well, but when the ice is gone his control over the object ceases.

Frost Breath-Jonas expels a frozen mist from his mouth. This mist has an extremely low temperature-frostbite will occur if someone spends more than 10 minutes in the cloud. This can be used when Jonas needs cover to hide himself. In addition, if Jonas manages to get in close and kiss his foe, he can use this move to freeze the foe's insides, causing heavy damage.
Ice shatter-Jonas can, at any time, break a structure of ice he has created and explode the shards outward in a dangerous area burst attack.

Shadow Ball-Jonas's primary shadowy attack. Jonas forms a ball of compressed shadows in his hands, then fires it away at his target. On contact with any object, the shadow ball explodes violently-a normal-sized ball has the explosive force of half a hand grenade. These balls can take on additional properties, such as changing shape, but Jonas must specify this in the ball before he fires it. The attack can be charged to a larger ball, which takes a turn, or he can fire many weaker balls in one turn rapidfire-style. The most he can throw regular-sized in one turn is two.

Shadow Formation-Much like his ice, Jonas can form shadows, but they MUST be attached to his body initially. Jonas can form many things, including blades, wings, a wall, armor, and more. However, he does not need to spend extra turns detailing his shadows. Jonas can form two limbs/tendrils, a pair of wings, or a moderate wall or their equivalents in one turn-forming more takes at least a post with no attack from the shadows formed, or their defense will not be applied. If a shadow is broken from Jonas's body, it dissipates harmlessly. However, if Jonas detaches the shadows himself, they take on the same properties of his shadow balls-they explode on contact, and their explosion strength is proportional to their size. However, Jonas cannot detach these shadows too quickly-they must spend enough time on his body or they will explode immediately upon release. Limbs, walls, and the like require one turn, but larger objects may require more. Jonas may also dissipate the shadows harmlessly with no penalty on waiting. NOTE: If shadows encounter bright light (i.e., brighter than a normal sunny day), the shadows affected will immediately vanish with no effect.

Shadowphase:
Jonas's body becomes shadowy and ethereal, removing its physical quality temporarily. It allows him to dodge completely any one attack or flurry of attacks. After using this move, he cannot use it again for 3 turns. He may use this as a defensive maneuver and then attack in the same post.

Shadow Sneak:
Jonas's shadow detaches from his body and begins to move independent of Jonas's actions. It can only move as fast as Jonas can, but it does receive on-ice speed boosts as well. Jonas then chooses to reattach to the shadow, and he teleports to its location. Jonas has a quarter-second delay between teleport and moving again, so the opponent, if he saw Jonas's shadow or can predict his location, will have a split second to react accordingly. Jonas, upon teleporting, may use any attack he has available to use to him afterwards. This move requires at least one turn of setup, but Jonas can hold it indefinitely-he does not have to immediately teleport to his shadow, and may in fact go a whole fight with his shadow detached from him.

Shadow Grenade:
Jonas may freeze his own shadow balls before firing them. If he does, they do not explode until Jonas dispels the ice encasing it.

Shadow Camouflage:
If Jonas is an an area that is shrouded with shadows, i.e. a back alley or a dark place at night, he can allow his form to blend in with the shadows, perfectly masking his presence. He cannot attack in this form, but may rematerialize anywhere in that particular shadowy area at any time. If the shadows are dispelled by a bright light, Jonas must immediately rematerialize or take heavy damage.

Call The Nightmare Realm: Jonas's eyes lose all color and form, becoming two black holes in his head. His hand becomes wreathed in a black, oppressing energy, and he slashes at the air or a surface, tearing a hole in reality itself. This portal to the Nightmare Realm opens wide, spewing its chaotic energy into Jonas, who absorbs it all before the portal closes. Jonas, now infused with the power of his home realm, can do one of two things. He must use the energy immediately, lest he risk it overload his body and cause him great harm.

Power Boost: Jonas uses the chaos energy he obtained and recycles it through his body, forcing it to work with frightening efficiency. Jonas's speed, power, and defenses increase greatly for the next four turns after he does this. Jonas can still use his entire arsenal as normal, however only melee attacks will have the boost in power. Once the four turns are up, Jonas's stats return to normal with no other negative effects.

Frozen Fury: Rather than cycle the energy through his system, Jonas instead channels it into his ice power, allowing him to create ghastly structures. Jonas's ice-shaping powers are dramatically increased in speed and power, allowing him to form even monstrously large constructs on the same turn as he absorbs the Nightmare Realm's energy. He cannot attack on this turn, but he can control the ice as he would any other ice immediately following. The icy construct he forms is different that his other ice-it has greater physical resistance to attacks, and it takes much more heat to melt the same amount of ice as his normal ice. In addition, Jonas can augment this ice with his shadow, giving it additional armor. The drawbacks to these powers: The shadow armor can still be destroyed with great force, causing the same explosion as it normally would. In addition, if the ice itself is destroyed, the chaotic energy inside it ruptures, causing a devastating explosion that is stronger than even his shadows' explosions.

Drawback: Jonas can only access the Nightmare Realm's power once per fight, as he does not have complete mastery over it. If he does try to access it again, the portal will grow uncontrollably, causing random, but extremely dangerous, effects for anyone nearby, including both Jonas and his enemy.

Weapons: http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs31/i/2008/200/f/d/Frost_edge_Katana_by_Escrimator.jpg
If Frozen Death contacts anything when Jonas swings, it will freeze the point of contact and an area around it. In addition, Jonas can channel his frozen power into the blade, and every swing will freeze the air into frozen blades that Jonas can use to attack. Beyond this, he can use any weapons he forms out of ice or shadows, so his arsenal can vary depending on his preferences. Frozen Death will ALWAYS accompany him into the fight and nothing else, but he may form other weapons during.

Natural strengths: Jonas is immune to the cold and being frozen by anything other than his own ice. Jonas also gains a speed boost if he is on any frozen surface. Jonas has night vision, which allows him to see clear as day. Even without boosts, Jonas is naturally quick and intelligent, so he is able to duck in and out of attacks. In addition, many of his quicker attacks and defenses have no startup lag, so he can quickly strike or defend without serious penalty.

Weaknesses: Jonas hates heat and bright light. Without defensive boosts, he has a somewhat low pain tolerance and his stamina to hits leaves something to be desired. He has problems adapting to changes mid-fight sometimes as well. In addition, when he's in his insane mode, he becomes MUCH more careless when dodging attacks. His pain tolerance increases, though-in fact, if the attack was not graceful or appealing to him, he will verbally insult the opponent more often than not. Many of his stronger attacks require setup.

Personality: Jonas is an insecure person, one that craves the acceptance of his peers. He is incredibly impressionable-if he sees something he would call 'cool', or someone popular, he will, in some way, try to mimic them to benefit himself. Most notably is when he is alone or not around anyone he considers cool-he reverts to his main fallback, trying to act at least somewhat like his crass, vulgar brother, Cruor. This often means Jonas can come across as overconfident, which can come back to bite him in the butt. Despite his bravado in these situations, Jonas is a cool, calculating person in a fight, contemplating moves sometimes two or three moves ahead. He tends to fight defensively as opposed to offensively, staying at a distance and calculating the perfect chance to strike.

However, Jonas has a curse. The being within the Nightmare Realm has gotten her hooks into unwitting Jonas, and can control his mind at a distance, changing his personality at a whim. Jonas, though he is unaware of the being, can resist this, but during the intense pressure of battle, sometimes his resolve breaks, and a new Jonas will surface. This personality is extremely happy-go-lucky, uncaring of most others, and can be incredibly obnoxious. This Jonas is usually a very direct fighter, choosing to just end the foe as quickly as possible so he can go get himself a hot meal. This is not to say he is obvious and easily read-it merely means Jonas will not stall if he does not have to most of the time. Getting this personality angry is both a great feat and a death sentence-if you piss him off, he will do everything in his power to end you.

Background: Jonas was a member of the Pain faction for one reason and one reason only: He wouldn't have to care about anything and could pursue his own ideals at his own pace. Power had never been one of his goals per se, but it came with the rest of his fancies, which came and went with the years. Jonas was a rather unassuming god, never making any waves, never really standing out. He was just happy to live in peace, achieving his many and ever-changing goals, and occasionally spreading a tiny bit of chaos, a little bit of justice, and a lot of everything else. In his heyday he had nearly perfected his deadly ice and shadowy arts, and was more than an ugly threat even against some of the bigger name gods. He even had his own realm of nightmares that he could control completely, and drag others into it to experience his purest insanity. Not many kept their mentality intact from that.

With the King's death, even this did not jolt Jonas too hard. Everyone dies, after all. Even the most powerful have to go sometime. But being cast down was an entirely different story. Being on Earth, his powers severely weakened, hampered his ability to accomplish everything he wanted to. The loss of access to the nightmare realm was the most vexing of all-his world would completely fall apart without him! Thus, he now seeks a way home, back to his former seat of power....he doesn't care if it requires help, he just wants it done. Pronto.
