A Roleplay By StormWolf:

I wonder what you felt inside
As they dragged you through foreign streets
The townsfolk spat venom at you
As churchmen took their seats
And did you think of your Motherland
As you stood there center stage
Or did you feel suppression, Dear Sir,
Like an animal in a cage?

I wonder what you felt inside
As they hung you by your throat
Through tear-welled eyes you looked out
As the crowd began to gloat.
And when they cut you down
So that your body slammed the ground
Did you pray to God for strength, Dear Sir,
To fight another round?

I wonder what you felt inside
When you burned with ropes pulled tight
Did you see the glee upon their faces
As they watched you lose the fight?
And when every inch of your body cried out
With the burning, searing pain,
Did it ever cross your mind, Dear Sir,
“Was it all in vain”?

I wonder what you felt inside
When you met the butcher’s blade
Did you see their blank expressions
As they watched your life-force fade?
Or did your soul break free from the pain and the hurt
To a pine covered glen
And will you ever know, Dear Sir,
What a hero you became?

Aye, will you ever know, Dear Sir,
What a hero you became?

Don’t fear them any more!
Charge with me!
We fight for what we love!
We fight for our country!
Scotsmen!
Charge, For Scotland!

Hope is lost to the people of Scotland. Their Guardian, William Wallace, has just been brutally killed at the hands of the English. His body cut to pieces and spread out throughout the Isle as a means to deter any further rebellion. Aye, It worked for some, it worked for most... for a while.
The Guardian of Scotland, the infamous Sir William Wallace, killed like a common criminal. The people having seen the man they thought would lead them from freedom, tortured and mutilated by the English, lost heart and the Armies of Wallace disbanded. Rightly so, they were all wanted men, they could all very easily end the same way as their great leader.

There was a wayward few, whether they be not of sound mind is up to historian speculation, but that is beside the point. What matters is that they, unlike the rest of their countrymen and women, refused to back down, refused to cow to the tyranny of England once more, it would surely be worse than ever, now. These men and women, the last of Wallace's Braves, were willing to do whatever was necessary.

The successor to King Edward the Longshanks, his vengeful son, took the crown after the king's death in a sickbed and made things, indeed, worse than ever before. The new King, King Henry, had some sick sense of righteousness in blaming all of Scotland for the troubles Wallace and his Braves caused his father, eventually killing him. The Prima Nocta, or the First Night, was re-instated, allowing the new Lords in the regions of Scotland to take any Scottish bride to his bed on her wedding night. The restrictions on the English soldiers all but vanished, making the counts of theft, rape, assault, arson, and murder against the Scottish people rise to a number God would vomit thinking of.

This is the story of Wallace's legacy after his death, this is the story of his Braves, continuing his work and fighting for their freedom.

Don't fear them any more!
Charge with me!
We fight for what we love!
We fight for out country!
Scotsmen! Charge, For Scotland!

Character Creation: alright, for this, it may seem daunting because I will ask you to choose an actual clan (don't worry, there are tons of them) and become a member of it. You can be one of Wallace's Braves or you can be one of the men/women that would take no more of King Henry's new tyranny.

Remember: The year is 1267

Username:

Character Name: it goes [Name] and then [clan name]
or [Name and last name] of the [clan name] clan, if they were adopted into the clan.

Gender: male of female. I am deranging history for kicks and giggles and also because a sausage fest with kilts is a might horrific.

Nationality: Scottish, Irish, English, Welsh, or Norwegian (yes, the nords are going to be in this. They had a lot to do with this time in Britain.)

Appearance: pic or description or both. Include height and weight, because you will likely be carried off the field at one point, alive or dead.

Plaid(if applicable): Every Clan had their own plaid designs, usually Common, Hunter, and Noble. This website (http://www.scotclans.com/whats_my_clan/) will help immensely, even giving a brief history.

Clan History(if applicable): The history of your Clan. You can alter it a bit, I am no history teacher, so I won't be a stickler. But keep it reasonable. Clans usually only feuded with one clan, unless you are my family/clan :awesome:
However, clans will be still somewhat united and in a state of mourning over Wallace's death.

Personal History: Refrain from clichés, please. Tell us what makes your character a special little snowflake.

Weapons: What your character uses as weapons. I allow and encourage diversity. If I see every character with a Scottish Claymore, I will make them change it before accepting. Sorry guys and gals, but those weapons were a privilege to use.

Anything else you wish to add goes down here:

Another thing: People die in this crappy medieval wars, it happens. Don't fret, however! You can always make another, you have to just ask.

This RP is rated R for graphic, brutal medieval war violence, inevitable nudity and adult situations, sexual content, and all that other fun stuff

Character Name: Chief Alexander Maxwell

Age: 27

Gender: MALE

Nationality: Scottish

Appearance: Face and body (http://clefchan.deviantart.com/art/Barbarian-100347268)
Non-Combat Clothing (http://kara-kedi.deviantart.com/art/Highland-Warrior-94942646)

Over that he wears the Scottish Brigand Armor (the image without shoulder pads, but with belts) (http://www.fantasy-armor.com/images/armors/AE1410.jpg) and a bracer on his left arm. He also wears his Wallowing Mask, more commonly known as Celtic Face-paint.
Hair: blonde
Height: 6'8"
Weight: 256 lbs in muscle

Plaid: http://www.scotchcorner.com/mill/tartans/M/maxwell-ancient.jpg

Clan History: The Maxwell Clan of Southern Scotland is one of the most, if not the most powerful Clans in their region. They are famous for their great fighters, most of all their infantry. Their infantry were a major bedrock for Wallace's campaign. Lord James Maxwell was actually hanged for supporting and supplying Wallace's army with weapons and the infamous Maxwell Militia. When the English or a rival Clan see that orange and blue plaid marching towards them, they will think twice about making the charge. The Maxwell Clan is one of the few Clans that has a double-feud, a feud between two other Clans.
Maxwell infantry usually brandishes heavy weapons, like axes, mauls, hammers, claymores, pikes, halberds, and the infamous Zweihander. They also have a very sneaky corps of archers who can hunt and track with great skill. Their Chief now is Alexander Maxwell, freed from prison as an exchange for his father. He now holds a bloody revenge towards the English, for Wallace and for his father. Let the games begin!

Clan Motto: Reviresco - meaning: I Grow Strong Again

Personal History: Alexander Maxwell was one of William Wallace's mighty Braves, using his axe or Zweihander to cut a bloody swathe out of the English and do his Clan proud. He was taken prisoner shortly after Wallace, trying to free the Guardian of Scotland. He was days away from the same fate as his leader and teacher, but his father, Lord James Maxwell traded himself. Alex was forced to watch before he was released. Before the Butcher's blade took James' life, he said to his son, "Maccuswell Reviresco" Maxwell will grow strong again. Now Alex is keeping the dream of BraveHeart alive by watering it with English blood. He has his Clan behind him, for they too want revenge and an excuse to fight. Alex is highly stressed and on edge to do his mentor and surrogate father, William Wallace, as well as his birth father, proud.

Weapons: Zweihander: The Zweihander is a Scottish adaptation of the FLamberge by replacing the waving blade with the heavy straight edge of a Scottish claymore. The sword has a handle on the blade, allowing it to double as a spear. The Zweihander has been called the Claymores Big Bastard Brother:

Clan Motto: Dread God

Appearance: At 25 years old, Nessia stands 5' 5 ' and weighs a lithe 120 pounds. Her auburn hair hangs to her waist and is often worn braided to keep it out of her emerald green eyes.

http://h1.ripway.com/Mysteria/nessia%20three.jpg

Personal History: Nessia's father Collin Munro was one of Wallaces Braves and a direct descendant of Donald Munro who is said to have built the Tower Of Foulis. Collin Munro gave up his own life to help one of the Maxwell clansmen when he was under attack. Nessia was but a young girl at the time. Having had no other family, the Maxwell clan adopted Nessia and she became one of their own.

It seemed destined that some day Alexander and Nessia would meet but Nessia has always kept her distance, admiring him from afar. At times it was almost impossible for Nessia to hide her attraction towards him. She thought highly of him and admired his bravery. When he returned from war Nessia felt an even stronger bond towards him although she would never admit it.

Weapons: Nessias skills lie within the use of dirks and daggers although she can wield a sword if need be.

The monks of St Mary at Kelso were given their land by Richard, Baron of Gordon in 1150 and 1160, the earliest recording of the name in use.
Sir Adam of Gordon was a supporter of Robert the Bruce and travelled to Rome to ask the Pope to reverse Bruce’s excommunication, served after Bruce killed Comyn in a church.
The king gave the Earl of Atholl’s confiscated lands of Strathbogie to Gordon. The castle there became known as Huntly, a reminder of the Gordons’ Berwickshire lands. Sir Alexander Gordon was created Earl of Huntly in 1449.

Personal History: Rhoswen was born a young child to an old family. Her parents married older then what was a custom in that age and had their first born son, James, almost instantly after the marriage. Life was fair and the family was coming along as it should be. But after the arrival of James, every attempt to create a child failed. It was seventeen years before another child came into the family, and that was the birth of the daughter Rhoswen. She was but four years old when her parents were killed in a barn fire and was left to her older brother James. Poor James had a dream of being a free ranger amongst the land, lending himself to whereever the king needd him. Yet, with the responsibility of his sister, he was left to farm at home, and merely trained his sister. When she was old enough she could be on her own, and as much as James loved his sister, he could not stay from his dream life long. Years had gone by, and James had set out on his own. Now, Rhoswen was left on her own, to try her lot at life, hoping that one day she would run into her brother, and possibly fight along side of him. 5"5, 126 pounds

Plaid: N/A

Clan History: N/A

Personal History: Sinead's mother, Inna, was the daughter of a Scottish laird, but she was banished after she became pregnant with a bastard child. She was cast out with no money or food with winter fast approaching, but she managed to make it to a small fishing village before she froze to death. Inna was taken in by a kind elderly woman who also let an irish fisherman, Dennis, live with her when it was too dangerous to sail back and forth.

Over the next few months as Inna and Dennis became closer, he convinced her to marry him and come back with him to Ireland. Inna agreed and they were quickly married by the local priest before leaving for Dennis' home. Inna never returned to Scotland and her daughter, Sinnead, was raised as Dennis' child never knowing her mother's origins.

Years later, after Inna had died from an illness, Dennis told Sinead the truth, although he could not tell her who her grandfather was as Inna had never spoken of it. Soon afterwards, Dennis died as well from the same illness and his family took all their belongings and land, saying that since Sinead was adopted, she didn't have any claim to it.

Sinead descided then "to hell with it", took all the valuables in the house, sold them in the village for money, and hopped on the next boat headed for Scotland before they could get to her.

She isn't sure what she'll do in Scotland, but she has thought about going to look for her mother's people, although the only clue she has is a battered signet ring her mother stole before she left. At the moment, Sinead is content to wander about the highlands playing her lute and singing for money.

Weapons: A dagger and some throwing knives that Dennis taught her how to use, although she is still no warrior.

Extra: Sinead doesn't exactly trust the Scottish as the ones that she met in her old village were loud and not very polite, but she positivly loaths the English for their superior attitudes and cruel treatment of others. She's not above slipping some poison into their drinks or slitting their throats should they get in her way.

It's a little altered from before, but basically the same thing. Hope that's okay.

Plaid(if applicable): http://homepage.powerup.com.au/~walelia/hometartan.gif

Clan History(if applicable):
The name Home comes from a powerful allegiance of the two clans Home and Hume. Descended from the Saxon Princes of Northumberland was Cospatrick, Earl of Dunbar, and his second son, Patrick, is believed to be the originator of the family. His descendant Aldan was the first recorded as having taken on the name of Home, to become Aldan de Home around 1250.

Personal History:
Aldan was the first son of Cospatrick Home, and being such heir to the family fortune was assuredly his. That did not ensure an easy life for Aldan, nor did Aldan want one. Always looking for a fight Aldan was noted in his youth to have a passion for two things, battles and women. For Aldan everything is a conquest, and a setback to him is merely another wall for him to climb.
Once Aldan took the name of Home as his own he set out to establish it as a truly powerful clan, one of his first actions was joining with a nearby clan by the name of the Hume. With their powers combined and Aldan as their leader word spread quickly of their powerful deeds.
Aldan may be nobility, but that doesn’t mean he is weak, or proper. Aldan loves to drink, fight, and of course be merry. Though he seeks a wife he struggles with the idea of such a ‘permanent relationship’. In the end however Aldan is a good man, and he has the good of his clan and Scotland in his heart. However his goodness ends at the border of Scotland, for it is no secret that Aldan despises the English, and will not allow them to continue their tyrannical rule.

There are many possible reasons why Aldan has decided to continue fighting, to attain greater glory for the Home clan, or even find and win the heart of some fair maiden. But perhaps the most likely reason however is that he is a drunken, angry, Scotsman with an English bone to pick. Oh, and Aldan also loves to sing, and though he has a beautiful voice he loves to do so loud and obnoxiously. He often marches into battle shouting irreverent choruses with choice words about the enemies collective mothers and the illicit behavior that they engaged in last night.

6 feet five inches tall, 240 pounds. Muscle, of course.

Plaid: N/A

Clan History: N/A

Personal History: Agmund's father was the powerful Norse warlord, Kjell the Shield Crusher, who gained his wealth through raiding and conquests of other lands. This put some high expectations on his two sons, Carr and Agmund. They were both taught to be fearsome warriors with no mercy at a young age. However, Agmund was not as violent as his older brother, though he had inherited his father's ability to turn Beserker in battle. Because he was prone to causing great amounts of damage and injuries when he was in this state, Agmund tried to avoid situations where his temper might be aroused, or fighting in general. Carr and Kjell saw this as cowardice and constatnly went out of their way to plague him about it. Eventually Agmund's patience reached it's limit and he challanged his brother to a fight to the death, though he regreted it afterwards.

It was a great battle, though somewhat one-sided as Agmund didn't want to fight. Eventually Carr was able to provoke him enough to make him go Beserk and Agmund split his brother's head into two with one mighty blow.

It should have won him honor and glory, but instead it won him his faither's hate. Because it had been a fair fight and Agmund had won through skill with his sword Kjell could not have him killed, but because he had murdered his brother, his favorite son, he has Agmund banished from his lands rejecting him as his son.

Agmund has no desire to wander the continent, and he had heard of great battles being fought in the Isles. Tales of fierce warriors in the mountain-lands of the north reached his ears and he decided to travel there to see if there was a place for him somewhere. His only companion now is his huge war-horse Helgi.

Weapons: One longsword, simple but of fine craftsmanship, and a battle ax that was given to him by his grandfather, Fenris. It is decorated with an engraved image of a sea serpant and his great grandfather who supposedly killed one while he was marauding.

Extra: Agmund is a pacifist by nature, but he lives as a warrior as he was taught to. He fights when he must and hides his dislike of it as it would label him as weak. This causes some inner turmoil, and he constantly searches for those who deserve death so that he might kill them and thus have to avoid fighting those with honor.

Clan Hunting Tartan:
http://www.kiltmakers.com/images/tartans_thumbs/roh_a.jpg

Clan History: Clan Ross is a Highland Scottish clan first named as such by King Malcolm IV of Scotland in 1160. The first of the chiefs was Fearchar, Earl of Ross from the O'Beolain family, also known as 'Fearchar Mac-an-t-sagairt' (meaning "son of the priest") of Applecross.

Ferquhard Ross helped King Alexander II of Scotland (1214 - 1249) crush a rebellion in Moray and Ross-shire. When King Alexander II ascended to the throne, a rebellion broke out in Moray and western Ross-shire, whose Celtic population were opposed to the laws and customs of the south. The King marched northwards with his army but was unable to crush the insurgents from Ross and Moray. However, Fearchar, Earl of Ross, with a large body of men from his own clan and his allies, appeared on the scene and soon wiped out all opposition to the King's authority. Fearchar brought the King the heads of the rebel leaders and was knighted on 15 June 1215. He was created Earl of Ross in about 1234.
The Clan Ross by tradition fought at the Battle of Largs in 1263 in support of Alexander III of Scotland against King Haakon IV of Norway. The Norwegian forces were defeated by the victorious Scots.

During the Wars of Scottish Independence the Clan Ross fought against the English at the Battle of Dunbar (1296) where their chief, the Earl of Ross was captured. This meant that for a short time Uilleam II, Earl of Ross sided with the English but he later supported Robert the Bruce of Scotland.

Personal History: Ian grew up in the hills of Northern Scotland, the son of David Ross and Mary Sutherland, the owners of a large farm. Many families lived near and worked for his father, he was rich compaired to most of the young scotsman at the time. When he was not working with his father and the rest of the men, Ian would be taking up learning the bagpipes. He bought a set from one of his father's employees named Thomas who happened to craft them, lending him his services and repairs whenever they were needed.

Music came fairly naturally to Ian, and found himself learning how to make his own set of bagpipes and decorated them with expensive ivory from the south. He was particularly good at carving and tuning reeds, which made him useful for Thomas for his shop was in constant need of newly carved reeds, and Ian's reeds were by far one of the best.

When war came, Thomas and Ian left the farm to take their business south. Each battlefield that contained scottish armies needed scottish pipers, and each needed repairs and new reeds with each new battle. Ian was old enough to partake in the battle himself and lead the charge in the battle of Dunbar with the sounds of the pipes flowing through the land, sending each scotsman into a firey frenzy. The english however saw the effects of the pipes, and decided to rain arrows upon them all. Ian was caught in the leg and two arrows pirced his bagpipes, however Thomas was not so lucky when three arrows pierced his body and head. Many other pipers shared the same fate.

The battle ended with little bloodshed, though the english had taken hundreds of prisoners. Most of the men from his clan abandoned the battlefield afterwards due north to their homes to lick their wounds. Ian became disgusted with this attitude and left his people to the lands further south where William Wallace planned of further rebellion. He wanted the songs of his clan to be of bravery, victory, and success. Proudly wearing his grandfather's kilt, he fought and bled with Wallace and his army, and will do the same with Robert the Bruce.

The bagpipes were considered to be a weapon of war. The effect of the pipes threw any scottish army into a charging frenzy and demoralized the opposing army, even making them withdraw without any blood spilt.

Ian also carries with him a set of small pipes, a less threatening version of the bagpipes that can carry a more musical tone. They can be played in celebration or in mourning.
