The Martian Review

So, as a favor to a good friend of mine after he'd done a wee bit of begging and offered popcorn, I went to see The Martian today. I can't lie, I had no interest in seeing this movie at all. The previews did nothing for me. However, it didn't take long for the story to get me hooked, pull me in and keep me interested the whole time. It was very good. I'm glad I was coaxed into going.

There will be no spoilers from me. You'll just have to see it for yourself.

I got the feeling that I'd effectively seen the entire film after watching the trailer (other than the predictable conclusion that he gets home safe). There's a mission to Mars, he gets left behind, he has to get water and grow food, he has to fix his radio and let everyone know he's alive, he succeeds, they come and get him. Is it still worth seeing?

The book was amazing and the movie was pretty good too. There were a couple of small deviations and a couple of things I found questionable, but on the whole it was a great film. Definitely worth watching if you enjoyed Gravity or Interstellar.
