Decided to give a place to speak up your mind, tell people your opinions on their writings and general discussion on this event.

m139 is the first to reach the final badge and is right now the leader of the board! Congratulation! :D

Are we getting prompts this month? I ask because of RPApril?

Kris
04-02-2016, 06:11 PM
Yup, Nara will put them up today :)

Omac
04-02-2016, 09:44 PM
Oh, okay! I'm excited! I get to work on my Crystal Cavern story. I know at some point I'll get a pet Dragon and a gun sort of weapon that shoots water and fire AT THE SAME TIME. Plus, I'm curious as to who the first boss will be. My story takes place in a video game and the person who trapped my character in it is also someone from either my real life OR RPA. Someone I know who has motive to trap me in a game... I'm excited to find out who it'll be!

I was going to use an old prompt, but I couldn't choose which one to use, so I'm excited to be getting a new prompt today.

Just a reminder that only the 3 active threads of the same month bring you closed in the badge ranks. Any further addition will be counted on the second chart.

Also, to get the badge, each submitted entry must be 1000 words!

I've pinned those 3 to prevent confusion.

m139
04-24-2016, 04:42 PM
thank you

Kris
08-28-2016, 12:31 AM
So I've been thinking... Do we want to try and reduce the words count to enable badges (Something lower than 1000)? Yea? Nay?

Anyone has suggestions to make this monthly friendly writing event more eye catching?

m139
08-29-2016, 05:31 AM
That might work... or maybe you might consider adding another badge all together. Get them started, and see what happens. Or perhaps feature one of the works in the Tribune or something? Or maybe make best writing prompt entry a thing for awards not this year but next?

I don't really know. For research I can tell you that I simply do this section because I like seeing my name on a leader board and I see this as a good way to practice writing and try new techniques. Perhaps we could have a monthly challenge checklist with a bunch of random things to incorporate into the themed writing? I really don't know.

Kris
08-29-2016, 11:27 AM
Can you give me more examples? ideas? I really like your direction on it!

Kris
08-30-2016, 10:25 AM
Idea I had in mind, thanks to Dnafein, is to create a special challenge for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) with a special reward to it.

What do you think m139?

m139
09-01-2016, 05:18 AM
Oohh... That could be fun.

Did you have any particular ideas?

Kris
09-01-2016, 08:42 AM
Well... reaching word count of 50,000 by the end of the month, me think... somehow... dunno what more.

m139
09-03-2016, 02:42 AM
Hmm...

It's hard enough to get people to 1,000 words- 50,000 words is even more- unless, perhaps, everyone's words together must tally up to 50,000

Kris
09-03-2016, 09:55 AM
Maybe "continue the story" type of dea? few people need to work together to reach 50,000?

m139
09-03-2016, 05:35 PM
Perhaps.

Thing with continue the story is you have to wait for a previous part and all that, if you are using the same characters. And people might be working on the same thing.

Perhaps, to make it better, have it a sort of open world with different events going on at the same time? Sort of like the great disaster strikes a land and how everyone deals with it. Someone could be in charge of writing a conclusion at the very end that links everything together.

Or maybe create a profile for one man, and just make it a collection of short stories that relate to his or her many adventures.

OMG !!! I LOVE THIS IDEA!! YES!!!

I think we will go for this!

Just saying, the prompts entries I posted for last month were still posted on September 30th my time, even if they were not counted for the upper leaderboard.

But that really is not the point...

What I am trying to ask is, if you would be so kind, that you add in the rules what exact time these prompts need to get in to count. It would make it easier if I end up doing it last minute again (and I do tend to do this). Thanks, if for nothing else, than for the consideration!

Kris

I guess I should give an extra day next time. I keep forgetting I'm ahead on timezone :(

Griff

May I recommend that everyone who submits write 1000 words? It would help us meet the 50000 word goal

Kris
11-01-2016, 12:56 AM
Sure, I just know some may want to do smaller stuff, so no pressure, but if people can submit more than one story I think we can nail it :D

I am so hyped to be a part of this that I wanted to start us off so badly that I was going to forgo the fact that I actually need to get some sleep tonight and just write a few *cough*3000*cough* words of our dude's first travel. :) I will be making time for this. My busy schedule can be manipulated. Hopefully. XD

Kris

11-09-2016, 07:22 AM
Got around 400 words typed up so far- hopefully I can get it done by this weekend...

(and the first word just happens to be "the" XD )

ArtisticVicu
11-09-2016, 05:21 PM
I've been drowning in a massive illustration project for my school's production so I haven't even touched my rps, let alone write anything decent this month. 0-0 I am so glad the project is almost over.

Good luck to all of ya participating in NaNoWriMo! Hope you reach your goals!

Edit: Instead of doing the project due in under 12 hours that I haven't even really worked on, I write 2,000 words for this. XD

Kris
11-10-2016, 11:54 AM
I hope to get something in the weekend too.

ArtisticVicu
12-01-2016, 05:07 AM
Will the NaNoWriMo thread be open for a while? I mean, I know the deadline passed and none of us were able to contribute enough to get to the goal, but I still want to contribute to it. I've just had midterms and finals taking up my time and muse, leaving me with little to no motivation for anything. 0-0 Even with ideas to write.

m139
12-01-2016, 05:52 AM
If it remains open I hope to add a little bit more as time goes on- I mean, badge time may be over, but there is no reason, I think, why we should not work on a giant open story...

Kris
12-01-2016, 09:36 AM
I'm giving the option of writing today as well.

Kris
01-03-2017, 10:04 AM
So like, if anyone wants to suggests topics and Prompts feel free to post here or PM me.

Jan prompts will still be counted until the end of the 1st of fed (you have one more day to finish them)

Ah! You're quite alright! There's a lot going on right now. I'm just glad that there are prompts. ^_^

Kris
10-24-2017, 07:56 AM
So Omac asked, and I'm asking you all, are you up to try what we didn't finish last year? (For Nanowrimo)

ArtisticVicu
10-24-2017, 11:57 PM
Yes!!! If permitted, I'm posting multiple parts so that we can make 50k, yes? ^_^

Kris
10-25-2017, 06:19 AM
Indeed!

Shall we use the same hero we had from last year?

Omac
10-25-2017, 01:43 PM
I'm just wondering here. I'm still undecided exactly what I'm doing for the next three months.

I forget, what was the hero from last year?

Omac
10-25-2017, 02:31 PM
Okay, I looked through this section and I found the character that was chosen.

Name: Arthur Sandford, Planer Traveler
Age: 89
Gender: M
Setting: really, anything

This is the stories of a guy, now advanced in years, who has jumped planes (timelines) all his life. Stories can thereby be in any sort of setting, and at almost any time in his younger life, including the story of how he managed to get his profession. Basically, this work could be described as "The Many Adventures of Arthur Sandford, Planer Traveler"

Edit: Okay, I think what I'll do is do Crystal Cavern as normal and then have a part of it where he crosses-over. Is that okay?

Kris
10-25-2017, 06:07 PM
*Confused*

Omac
10-25-2017, 08:07 PM
It's okay. I'm confusing myself too. Basically I plan on starting a story this month and during the month of NaNo I'll bring Arthur over to it for a while. He'll show up in Crystal Cavern in which he'll not be the main character, but then my main character will travel with him. It's a crossover. Like, a trade. I put him in part of Crystal Cavern and then I will also have him go on another journey that is for this with my Crystal Cavern characters by his side. Think of it like is those shows that bring a character from theirs over to another for a special. Bones and Sleepy Hollow did this. Simpsons and Family Guy did this.

You'll still get at least 1,000 words of Arthur's journey that is strictly part of this, and there will also be a Crystal Cavern (which goes up on my Wattpad) which has Arthur guest staring. My Crystal Cavern characters will guest star in an Arthur story, and Arthur will guest star for them. Two different parts. It would be a crossover and I wanted to see if it was allowed.

*rubs back of neck* I feel like a nuisance. Will we be getting November prompts? I completely understand you all are very busy and it's fine if they don't come out till later, if at all. I like doing them every month and look forward to the new prompts. I know that with NaNoWriMo I might not even get the chance to write for this month's prompt till December but I haven't missed a month yet since I started these last year. ^_^ A year exactly back in October, in fact! 0-0 Can't believe I've been doing these for a year, holy cow. *waves about* That's beside the point. Just let me know if we are doing prompts or not this month. I don't mind waiting for them till December if that is what needs to happen. ^_^

Oh! Are we utilizing last year's NaNoWriMo thread for this year's? Or are we starting a new one?

Kris
11-04-2017, 11:34 AM
as for the NaNoWriMo, Do we want to continue the one from last year?

ArtisticVicu
11-08-2017, 03:12 PM
So....November prompts? My initial question - actually neither question - got an answer.

In answer to Kris: I don't mind either way but I think this stuff has died over here. ^_^

Sorry asharasahara;, I will get up November prompts and get your number on the prompts updated today!
0-0 Thank you! I wasn't overly concerned about my prompt number seeing as I can count myself if I ever needed or wanted to. I was more interested in the prompts simply because I look forward to them each month. Thank you for posting them. ^_^ I do hope the month is treating you well and the rest of it treats you even better.

Is there prompts for April and May? I'm gonna finish off the two March prompts I haven't done yet before the end of May and was wondering if this section was just gonna up and die seeing as I'm kinda the only one posting any more or if this was still gonna get prompts. As much as this is my favorite section, I don't want to be a bother when there aren't more people enjoying this with me. 0-0 It's kinda quiet in this section now and it's kinda sad.

Hey guys, NaNoWriMo is right around the corner, do you feel like we should try doing what we did previously?

Like choosing a figure to write about, where all of us join together to fill in tales about "his/her" life to cover all the words?

Here is a small reminder to what we did long ago:

I did indeed. ^_^

First reaction to the rules was amused annoyance. XD First person and present tense are not my strong suits. I have figured out what to write for it, though, and am hoping to be able to get something posted by next Wednesday if I can't today.
