((Here's the IC thread for "Genesis". The OOC thread is one click away, if you're still interested in joining.))

Camelot was alive and well, as usual. If one looked carefully beyond the skyline, they could almost see mountains, and most neophytes to the world of "Genesis" would've assumed that it was part of the Badlands. Anyone who had ever gotten bored enough to find out knew that those mountains were only part of the scenery. The city itself was bright, and well-lit, comparatively. It was almost funny how much the geography of Camelot belied it's name. When one usually heard "Camelot", they thought of a Medieval city, as was typical of most MMORPGs. This city, however, seemed to have one foot in the dark ages, and one foot in the future. Gleaming skyscrapers were easily spotted all over the place, and every building looked modern, if not futuristic. here were no houses, but the apartments looked like something out of The Jetsons and Camelot itself seemed to constantly expand to accommodate the ever-growing number of people joining Genesis on a daily basis. Besides the people standing on street corners, desperately searching for people to trade with them (As was to be expected for any game with the excess of players Genesis had), it seemed like everyone on the bustling streets had somewhere to go, someone to meet, and something to find. Thoro was not, at that moment, one of those people.

He just sat around, looking for something interesting to see or do. In the real world, he would've quite prominently stuck out in a crowd of people, with his straw-colored hair, piercing blue eyes, and his tall, almost scarecrow-like build. However, just at a glance, he was probably one of the more normal-looking people in the immediate vicinity. He considered looking for a fight, but people in the general level range of 88 and above were few and far between, in this city. The only reason he was even here was because, no matter how one cut it, a part of him LOVED crowded places. Even in Genesis, his favorite hobby was people-watching. Never really taking part in the action (unless, of course, there was a fight breaking out), but always happy to observe. He wasn't any kind of philosopher, though. It was more because he liked to hear the little snippets of conversation that sounded so stupid to someone passing by, and get a cheap laugh or two out of it. In truth, he liked his spot because it enabled him to do all this without being interrupted. "Lionus' Hock Shop" was a player-owned location rented by some guy who was a level 60-something and spent all his time either stockpiling money, or finding rare items to sell for inflated prices. He doubted he had ever actually been inside the store, but he had just so happened to notice that it was one of the smallest buildings in the city, and that one of the game designers had stuck a dumpster behind it, for artistic purposes. On a whim, he had figured out that he could actually jump onto the dumpster, and then use it as a platform to jump onto the roof of the store. He had considered the fact that other people probably did the same thing, because it was almost impossible that out of hundreds of thousands of people, he was the only one smart enough to find this little bug. Simply put, he wasn't that bright. He just called it his spot because he was the only person he knew of who liked to sit up there.

He wouldn't even have been people-watching if he hadn't basically exhausted every single-player quest he had ever heard of. Of course, logically speaking, every quest COULD'VE been accomplished with only one player, but the ones he hadn't felt like trying literally DEMANDED that he joined up with at least three other people before trying out. First off, finding two other people that he didn't hate, and who wouldn't just slow him down was too much work for his tastes. Second, he just hated having to coordinate. Given the choice, he would've preferred to rip through everything by himself without an ounce of strategy (Which he had done even before he was strong enough for that to be a viable option). The only other thing he could really do was level-grind, and he just wasn't in the mood. He was waiting on Asgard to finish being built before he started level-grinding again.

With a bored sigh, he finally flopped onto his back, staring up at the sky. Sometimes, it amazed him how realistic it actually looked...

Sitting next to a full grown oak tree, Lighte relaxed, her blonde hair flowing in the wind but couldn't feel the breeze. Looking up at the bright digital sky, she got up and adjusted her revealing outfit and started to explore once more into the city. She was bored at her level but she never liked to kill alone as she was a vulnerable Priest.

A private message appeared at the bottom message of the screen reading, <Texasbrute> whispered: Hi, where are you?

Lighte stopped and typed back in the chatbox, clicking the purple W, <You> whispered: Outside of Camelot; meet at Town Square?

<Texasbrute> whispered: Alright, let me get out of this area.

Lighte replied with a simple okay and looked through her bags to produce a horse mount and climbed up on it to ride towards the major city. She liked how the graphics were so realistic and exquisite for such a game, wanting to be sucked in there forever with Texasbrute. Ironically, she was supposed to laugh at such a game since she was high class in reality but she wanted to escape from the real world.

Riding up to Camelot, the print below said the city and she wandered into the Town Square.

When Texasbrute logged in, he forgot that he last signed out in a pvp area. He could hear fighting in the distance and set his beserker stance on. His dwarf character was stout, but built to kill. He started to run, his armor clanking together ah his Dwarf hobbled along. He remembered his girlfriend had texted him after school, telling him to whisper her. Just as he was about to, he was stunned by an Assassin. Here we go.. he thought. When the stun was over, he pulled his battle axe out, he liked to call: The Retriever (As in retrieving souls..).

He took a few more steps and a backstab was delivered to his character. Wrong target, buddy.. he thought. His Dwarf made a battle cry as he swung his axe. The axe struck the Assassin with his knock back effect, pixelated blood spewed from his body as it did so. His Dwarf spun in a circle with his axe out, knocking a nice chunk of HP out of the Assassin. The Assassin started to run circles around him, trying to delay the inevitable. Texasbrute smiled behind the screen. A normal tactic for Assassins, such as his opponent. He used killing strike, his Dwarf letting out another earth shaking battle cry, using an upright strike. The Assassin's character screamed and fell to the ground dead.

Texasbrute leaned in his chair and smiled at his Dwarf. His character sheathed The Retriever and stood there a moment, a usual victory. Ah yes, forgot to PM Lighte.. He thought to himself. He clicked on her name and sent her a PM. They were to meet in the Town square. He searched his bag and found his mount, an armored goat, black of course. He rode along the snow capped mountains to the little village with the transportation to Camelot. He sent her another PM.

<You> Whispered:Omw there, babe.

Lighte and Texas had a relationship in real life. They had met on this game about a few months ago and been unserperable since. When she replied back, he was already on the Air Ship to Camelot.

Artemis was walking through the crowded streets of Camelot. She had just been weapon shopping, and hadn't found anything she liked. All the good weapons were too expensive, and the cheaper ones were useless. She already had a prefectly deadly axe, but she still wanted another spare one. Artemis knew that if she saved most of her money, instead of spending it on outfits, she would be able to easily buy an expensive knife or gun. She was a shopaholic.

None of her friends were on, and they rarely were anymore. They told her that she was wasting her life away, and that she needed to get out into the real world. She secretly agreed with them, but instead she told them that they needed to relax. Artemis hated school, and hated being behind a desk. She loved fighting, gaining levels, finishing quests, and most importantly, she loved the people. The people in this game understood her. They loved what she loved, an adventure. Making friends excited her, and made her happy. People in general made her happy. She was a social butterfly, which was the term she loved to use to describe herself. She liked to hear the stories of peoples lives, where they were from, and what their goals were. That's why Artemis decided that if her friends weren't going to be on, she was just going to have to make more friends in the game. Thinking of it gave Artemis a bounce in her step, a straighter posture, and a confident smile. Then, she tripped over a rock, and landed on her face. Way to go.

Night was walking around Camelot, looking bored, with his hands laced behind his head. The digital world was quite the interesting place and was pretty detailed. There were people everywhere, mostly new players, but there were still people everywhere.

The demon assassin noticed someone sitting on top of a roof, which he realized must be a glitch in the game. He looked up at the player and stared for a moment before circling the building to find out how he could get up. He quickly found a garbage bin at the back which lead up to the roof and climbed up.

"Hmm... interesting glitch." Night mumbled once he was on the roof, looking down at the people below him. He walked over to the other player and sat down beside them. "So, your a level 90? That's pretty rare to find around here." He said, looking at the player's available stats. "Then again, a level 10 is rare around here."

The wind blew Texas' beard when they took off. The CPU's ran around the ship, doing whatever they were programed to do. He walked to the side of the ship, armor clanking together as he did, and leaned on the rail to look at the scenery. They were flying over a jungle right now, misty and mysterious. Birds flew from the trees, animals called through the trees, and a waterfall could be heard in the distance. Texas smiled behind the screen. Such a beautiful world would be worth fighting for in reality.

<You> Whispered to Light: How was your day at school?

He decided to talk to Lighte since they haven't talked all day. 4 years since they've met and 2 years since they have been together. Killing together for 4 years brings a special bond. Texas chuckled a bit at this thought. A horn blew, notifying him that they were flying over a new territory, a dark forest known to be filled with spirit mobs. He remembered grinding there with Lighte awhile back. Such fond memories in the game, so many to let go of. Texas looked at his character, a big muscular Dwarf, a long flowing beard and a stare that tells you that he has had a bad day. He remembered when his character was nothing more than another Dwarf, a newbie. Now, Lighte and him strike fear through free roam PvP, just how he liked it.

Thoro looked over, mildly disappointed that his thinking had been interrupted, but mostly surprised that someone chose to go join him up there. "I know what you mean," he replied "but then again, people in our general level range only started getting looked at funny for hanging out here after PKing started to get popular, and people began assuming high-level characters were just looking for easy kills instead of going to the arena, or Badlands.... Not that the low-level players aren't making it easy. For example, that girl down there just tripped over a rock..."

He looked at her available stats, and realized, to his mild embarrassment, that she was fairly high-level, herself. "....Nevermind, bad example" Thoro continued "but the point is, usually you can spot a newbie a mile away, if you're looking. Then again, if you're not a newbie, you can spot a PKer just as easily. It's just like a pedophile in a playground."

The fact that he knew all of this offhand didn't even phase him anymore. He was more in touch with the world of Genesis then he was with the real world. Then again, he preferred it that way. He actually kind of liked the fact that in Genesis, the mark you left on the community was as large, or as small as you decided it should be. For example, while most of the REALLY veteran players (meaning those who had been playing three years, or longer) knew of him, by name, yet he could probably quit the game at any time and fade from the memory of most other players after a couple of months. He had been playing for the previous five years, ever since his brother had brought home a copy of Genesis after having camped out in front of the local Circuit City in order to ensure that he got the game the very day it came out. His brother, however, had quit playing long ago, as had everyone they had once regularly played with, to Thoro's knowledge. Not that it mattered to him; He had washed his hands of all of them, by choice.

Finally, he looked back at Night and asked, mostly joking, "You're not a PKer, are you?"

<Texasbrute> whispered: How was your day at school?

Lighte typed a /sigh, making her character physically sigh and put her hands on her hips, typing back, <You> whispered: Same as always, yours?

She was quite bored today, walking around the city of Camelot, doing nothing but hoping for a festival or some group quests so she could heal the other players easily to get some experience. She then typed to Texasbrute once more: Want to do a group quest?

<Texasbrute> whispered: Yeah sure, what is it?

<You> whispered: Uhm.. ^^'', I don't know. Do you know of any?

<Texasbrute> whispered: Maybe some PvP group quests?

Lighte never liked player versus player battlegrounds as she was a player versus enviroment person. But responded: Okay. She then right clicked on his username to request a group; he clicked yes and saw his icon on the top left of the screen and smiled. She handed him leader since she was not familiar with PvP as he was and kept walking.

She saw two people on a roof and raised an eyebrow. How did they get up there? But saw some boxes and lifts to get up. Jumping swiftly up onto them, her skirts raised, showing more of her upper thigh and up to the building, typing a simple: Nice glitch you found here.

Artemis pushed herself off the ground, brushed herself off, and fixed her purple hair. She glanced around in embarassment, hoping no one saw her fall. Unfortunatly, all the people around her had stopped to stare. She hated negative attention. Then she spotted three people on a roof. There was two males, and one female with a revealing outfit. Artemis wondered how they got onto the roof. She looked around the building and only found a dumpster. She felt even more confused.

"How did you get up there?" She called to the three people on the roof. They seemed interesting, and Artemis had an instant urge to become friends with them. She smiled brightly and waved, when she caught their attention.

"That is quite true." Night agreed. Finding a newbie or a PKer was quite easy if you knew what you were looking for. Though, every once in a while there was the odd person that you couldn't tell was a PKer or a newbie. It depends on the person. He watched as Thoro pointed out a player that had tripped, but smirked when Thoro realized that the player was actually a fairly high level. He laughed a bit when he was asked if he was a PKer. "Heh... not at all. PKers are... without better description, mean."

Another player climbed up onto the roof and typed in 'Nice glitch you found here'. Night turned to see a woman player wearing a rather skimpy outfit. He made his character raise an eyebrow. "To be honest, it was Thoro." He said, pointing. "I really had no idea you could get up here 'till I saw him."

Yet another person walked up to the building and yelled up at them, asking how to get up. Night looked down at the person and saw that it was the player that had tripped earlier. He told them how to climb up and made his player lay back. "Well... it took like... two minutes to have another two people up here. Apparently 'seldom do people look up' is false. Then again this is a game." He said, smirking.

Off in the jungle zone PvP area, Karr awoke from from the Sleep Spell to find himself connected to a Bind Spell, low health, out of magic, a rock, and a sword at his neck. The sword was connected to a punisher and 6 of his little buddies. All of them Battlemages. The memory of their incounter started rolling slowly back. Also he remembered which spell the little pretenders had casted first. He let loose a smile.

"Goodie looks who's awake boys. The Big Bad Karr. You have a big PvP bounty on you ya know, and the Bobo gang is going to take it, after a little practice."

"yah boss, you said it."

"you said it."

"you said it."

"you said it."

"So 'Boss Booboo' are we going to get on with it, or am I going to have to respawn and comeback at a later time?"

Karr recieved a hard smack to the face from the now shaking and blubbering Bobo. He had to be cafeful while stalling for time. Otherwise he would have to respawn and give them his bounty reward, and he'd hate to do that. It was pure dumb luck the Sleep Spell hit him before the Bind Spell did. If it had been the otherway around, he'd be a dead puppet on a string. If he remembered correctly, Bind Spells did not allow any actions or movement of any kind, but moving stuff to and from the inventory was O.K. in the rule book. So he switched his glaive and took a two potions in each hand: two fire bombs, a barrier potion, and an expensive target reflect potion, and waited for the spell to wear off.

"Oh look boys, he put away his little stick and took out his bottles. What you gonna do? Milk us to death?"

The comment got the response he wanted and gave back his courage.

"Do as I say and we'll get along fine. As soon as my boy's undispellable Bind Spell goes away. I want all of your money inventory, and armor dropped at my feet, and you start walking away."

Karr shook his head like a teacher to a student he even tsked like an arrogant moron.

"You moron. don't you know what a TRP and a Barrier potion look like. Oh from that look on your face you do. I have enough fire bombs in my inventory after I drop my TRP and Barrier I could slaughter you and leave you pixelated blood everywhere before the spells lose their power. Here is my offer start running now. I have other business to attend. If you leave before the spell ends, I wont chase you. It's my last offer."

He shook the bottles for a little theatrics. The 6 lackeys bolted, and left a sweaty leader behind.

"The spell ends in 15 seconds. Start running like your little puppies did. Say you survived and captured me, if you wanted to save face. Just be gone befoe the spell ends. Your pig sweat is getting all over my clothes."

It was all the provocation Bobo needed. The poor punisher ripped holes in the pixelated dirt as he ran as fast as his bulky body could.

Karr sighed with relief. He told the biggest bluff of his life a few seconds ago. It was true that he had other business. It was to get more potions because he ran out. What he had in his hands were the last and weakest of his potions because he waited so long to start making potions of his own. Just because he was at the edge of the PvP area, Karr relaxed and met Dumb and co., a noob mistake he pledged would not happen again. Karr waited the rest of the actual 30 seconds before summoning his red hoverboard and zoomed straight for the first gate to Camelot.

Thoro weighed his options, before finally deciding that there were already a bunch of other people up there, so one more person couldn't really do any harm. "If you go to the back of the store, there's a dumpster. Jump onto it, and then jump from there onto the roof" he explained "I don't really think it's much of a glitch. If we weren't meant to be up here, we wouldn't be" he explained, matter-of-factly. He had honestly never seen so many high-level players in Camelot at one time in quite a while. The last time he had seen that was right near the time he had quit Aesir. There had been certain members of the Guild that had taken up the practice of wandering around Camelot, waiting for a monster to attack so that they could kill it by themselves, and horde the majority of the experience for themselves. Thoro just thought that was embarrassing, and pathetic.

In a way though, today was odd. Usually, he could sit by himself for hours and never get interrupted. Today, though, it seemed like he was a magnet for every player over level 80 that happened to be in the same city as him. He didn't quite know how he felt about that.

Artemis climbed onto the dumpster, and then onto the roof. She looked around at the three players, then she grinned, "I'm Artemis, and you all are?" She felt the happy excitement of intreducing herself for the first time. They were all level eighty and over, which made her feel even luckier to meet such high level people. In her eyes, they all seemed nice, and she wanted to get to know them.

"Thoro" Thoro finally replied "and you would be... Artemis, correct?"

He didn't need to be telepathic to know that. If he targeted her, it showed her name directly over her head. The same could be stated for every character in most MMORPGs. If he had been in a belligerent mood, he'd have pointed it out, but he didn't really feel like offending anyone at the moment. If there was anything he hated only slightly less then newbie-slayers, it was people who were just disrespectful for no apparent reason besides getting some kind of kick out of it.

Karr hustled himself out of the Camelot Gate. A mutual friend tagged him about some low priced pots a few hours ago, and a scruge like him was going to take full advantage of it. He hated himself for being such an idiot. It pissed him off a little more because he couldn't used his hoverboard in cities until a patch is finished.

"Glitch to much. Ba humbug."

Karr sprinted amongst the low-lifes. He wasn't an elegant man so he shoved and bumped people out of his way. Karr cam to a comical stop when he saw a lvl 90 with a group of 80 somethings on a rooftop. He cupped his hands too make sure his voice reached.

"Hey, what ya'll doing up there? Any ya'll strong enough for a PvP fight?"
