You feel the excitement welling up inside of you as the island comes into view. The lush green of the island and light greys of the buildings contrasted nicely with the reds of the evening light and blues of the ocean waves. It was a beautiful sight, and one you would be a part for an entire week. In your mailbox just a few mornings ago was a letter and a ticket, inviting you to spend an entire week on the resort island, all-expenses paid. There was no explanation, but it seemed to you like the letters were distributed at random, and you were just a lucky winner. Regardless, it was not an opportunity to pass up.

The boat docked at a long dock made of light wood, perfectly treated and well preserved. A young man or woman, dark and handsome and dressed all in whites, bows to you and offers to take your bags in a thick islander accent. He leads you off the dock and up a winding pathway to a large building overlooking the beach. Taking you to your room, marked with your name, he sets the bags down and bows once more before leaving. Despite the excitement, you seem rather tired from the long trip overseas. You lay your head down to rest and quickly fall into a deep sleep.

http://www.wolfsvisionphotography.com/Foggy_Morning_-_Island_Lake__ON_2010.jpg

You awaken to a thick fog creeping in through the window, and as you look around your room, even in dark morning light, you can tell this was not the same place you had fallen asleep. The bed you are laying in is dusty and in shambles, wooden splinters and raggedy cloth sticking out every which way. The room is filled with shattered and broken furniture, and the very walls and ceilings are falling apart. In every corner of the room, scavengers skitter about and large cobwebs claim the shadows.

As you leave your room, you realize the entire building looks like it has been abandoned for many years, and looking out the window you find the island to look much the same. There are no signs of life out there, only the fog gripping a crumbling and abandoned little resort. Through the fog you eye the docks, crumbled and half sunken, and not a boat in sight. As the panic begins to fill you, you hear the sounds of others awakening in other rooms, equally confused and just as afraid as you. You almost feel safer as you sigh in relief… until you hear the mist replying back.

Zuly sighed deeply, her eyes fluttering as they opened to the darkened room. Through blurred eyes, she sat up from her bed, groaning at the mild headache that started to throb in between her temples. Where the headache came from she wasn’t sure, normally the mild tranquilizer she took for traveling by boat didn’t have this effect. After a brief moment, her dark eyes registered her surroundings. Everything was faded, almost as if she’d slept for over fifty years in here, and nobody took care of the surrounding area. What seemed like new furniture when she came in now splintered wood with faded cushions. Her mind raced trying to figure out how she got here, making her mild headache burst into a brilliant fire of nerves.

Her boss told her to go on vacation to recoup after a particularly tough case, and she had found an invitation to an island resort. From there things got a bit spotty, most likely due to the tranquilizer she took more often than she should have. She distinctly remembered landing, or whatever sea folk called it, and she also remembered the cute blond girl whom escorted her to her room. Another groan left her lips as her fingers glided through her short tresses, frustration starting to take over.

First things first, she needed to check her luggage for her weapon, just in case something were to happen. With great effort Zuly pushed herself from the rickety queen sized bed, that she distinctly remembered looking brand new when she went to sleep. Even though her limps felt too heavy, she powered to her bag, tossing the flap open her eyes looking for something very specific. She knew it sounded paranoid, and in normal cases would have been improper, but she brought her Glock just in case something happened. Who could blame her, she worked murder cases in New York city, paranoia came with the job.

Seeing the deep black object nestled safely into her hip holster with her badge attached, Zuly breathed a breath of relief. There was a moment of pause, before she heard a movement coming from another room. Her fingers pulled the holster on, gun safety off and in position, before her mind could process what was going on. She spared a quick glance to her clothes, happy that she was too tired to change into her pajamas. With her gun drawn, she slowly made her way to her door, a breath stopping in her throat. She pushed forward, making sure to fully observe the halls as she followed the sounds to another person’s room. Though she didn’t feel good about giving her position away, she knocked on the door, waiting for someone to answer, gun still in hand, but lowered so not to scare anyone who answered.

A surreal dream about swarms of murderous bats gave way to a headache, and Camille drifted into painful wakefulness. She muttered something that was probably intended to be an expletive and pulled the covers back around herself. She'd been so sure she'd sleep well - oh, this place had seemed so charmingly rustic; she definitely didn't remember the sheets being so light or scratchy, or the mattress so thin. Camille shivered through her thick flannels. She flipped onto her side and curled up for warmth, but to little effect.

What time was it, anyway? After tossing around for several increasingly irritating minutes trying to get comfortable, Camille decided to find out. Her left hand snaked out from under the thin blankets and flipped her sleeping mask away from her eyes - red and black flannel matching her pajamas, a present from a college boyfriend who she still thought warmly of, and she let herself drift back into those memories as she let her eyes adjust. Ah, those years...

It was a few hours past midnight, Camille concluded. A sort of faint grey light struggled in through the window, and she could barely make out the moon in the far corner. Had she really left the curtain open?

Camille readjusted her sleeping mask and laid back down, hoping to get back to sleep, but her mind wouldn't leave the curtain. She'd definitely shut it. She remembered shutting it, and besides due wouldn't have changed in front of an uncovered window.

Was she being watched? No, of course not. She'd woken up from a bad dream in an unfamiliar room, that's all. She'd probably just pulled the curtain back to look at the stars. If someone was in her room, she'd have definitely heard it. Besides, rustic-ness aside, she really didn't feel like getting out of bed, and besides all that she'd locked the door. Camille turned over again, looking for a less lumpy section of mattress, fussed with the covers, and yawned.

She had locked the door, hadn't she?

Camille sighed. She sat up in bed, letting the scratchy covers fall away from her. She moved the sleep mask up onto her forehead - yes, the curtains were wide open. She sighed again as she tossed her flannel-clad legs over the side of the bed and sleepily stumbled over to the window.

It was foggy out. The stars were obscured and the moon was a vague smear off to the right. A vague sense of dread came over Camille. Between the fog, the hour, and not wearing her glasses, she couldn't make out much, but what she could see wasn't what she remembered.

A knocking at the door startled her out of her contemplation. The door! She still hadn't checked the lock!

The knock repeated itself, and Camille startled into action. On her desk was a thick hardcover book, a collection of the writings of Arthur C. Clarke, and if she had to defend herself it would be better than nothing. She also retrieved her glasses and tucked them behind her ears. She picked up her phone in her right hand and flipped it on, glad for some sort of light source. With a deep breath she crossed over to the door, and with another she opened it.

Camille swore. "Suis-je en...", she began, trailing off as she realized her error. "Am I under arrest?"

The travel was nauseating. Kelly kept asking himself, “How did I let them convince me to go?” The plane ride was bad enough, but he couldn't make it to the port fast enough if he took a train. He had managed to get on the plane, but from there the sleeping pills had to take over. He timed it just a little off. They were on the runway when he started to pass out. Just enough time to start freaking out and hit the service button once or twice to ask about how much longer till they took off. He was still groggy when he was stirred awake by the flight attendant he had bothered several times before takeoff. The pills lasted a bit longer than the flight, even with trying to adjust for it. Eventually, by the time he made it to the docks of the island, he was feeling more himself. He was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful woman that greeted him and led him to his room. He was hoping to see her again after he woke up. He was suddenly exhausted from his travels.

When he woke, he thought it was just a dream. He would have weird dreams sometimes after taking the sleeping pills. He looked around and was surprised by how vivid this dream was, the drapes were ragged, there were rats skittering across his floor, startled by him awaking. The bed was tattered, his blanket rough and untwining around the edges. As Kelly slid his hand over his mattress, he felt a pin prick on his middle finger that caused him to jerk his hand back. His finger was pierced by one of the springs that had penetrated the upper cushioning of the bed. As he looked at his hand, blood slowly beaded and dripped down his finger. His mind started to race a little. He looked around a little more hectically. He went to the sink, boards creaking and snapping back at him as though they would grab him and pull him through the floor. The fog that was slowly rolling into the room seemed to wrap tightly around him with each new step rather than part for him to pass. However, as he walked into the bathroom, hesitantly going through the busted door, he looked at the sink with some hesitation. Not exactly sanitary.

“This is really just a dream, right?” But it seemed as though something, or someone, was saying that no, this was no dream. He slowly walked to the sink. Peeking at himself in one of the few shards of glass left, he only saw one side of his face, perspiring with the stress of his situation. Can you even sweat in a dream? Kelly could not bring himself to answer that. He tried to turn the water on, but it just growled at him and nothing came out. Unfortunately, his finger had not congealed yet.

He heard some knocking outside, but not at his own door. After an endless moment, it was followed by someone speaking, but he wasn't able to make out the words. They may have been in another language. He slowly crept to his bags, barely able to keep his eyes off the door, and his heart screaming for quiet with every step. He glanced down to see them covered in dust and a hole chewed through one of the pockets where he had kept the bag of nuts he bought at the port. He opened the bag to grab a T-shirt to put pressure on his finger when a rat he could swear was the size of a football scuttled out of the hole in his bag!

“Yah-hhhaaagh!,” Kelly yelped as he pulled away from the monster, nearly losing his balance and stomping back a few steps.

He then remembered he was trying to be quiet and hoped to god this was all just a dream with the ruckus he just made.

The trip to the island was uneventful and relaxing for Tolbert. This was the first real vacation that he had ever taken and he was determined to enjoy every moment of it. When Tolbert got off the boat there was a man there ready to take his bags and show him to his room. He thought about asking the bellhop where he could get a stiff drink, but he was suddenly feeling exhausted. Ain’t no harm in some rest on vacation. After that I’ll get me something to drink, he thought. Tolbert continued following the man with his bags through the halls to his room.

Once they had arrived at his room and Tolbert was alone he put his gun on the nightstand with his knives. He didn’t bother to unpack anything and just proceeded to strip down to his boxers, leaving his expensive clothes strewn across the floor. He flopped over into bed and sleep seemed to take him as soon as he closed his eyes.

Tolbert started awake as he did every morning, chased by one demon or another from his past. This time was different though because it seemed he had awoken into a nightmare. This room, while bearing some resemblance, was not where he had fallen asleep. Instinctually he reached to the nightstand where he kept his Tokarev. The sudden movement crumbled the rotten legs of the bed on the left side of the bed, spilling him off the bed and into the nightstand. The nightstand, which was already in the process of falling apart, did not stand a chance against Tolbert’s weight and was crushed beneath him. Termites spilled from the rotten, half-eaten wood around him.

Tolbert blinked to try to clear the fog from his eyes before he realized that it was wafting in from the window. He breathed deeply in through his nose to calm his racing heart and the room smelled musty and rotten. He watched the insects scurry away from him, the spiders working their webs, the crumbling ceiling. Tolbert felt a pang of something resembling nostalgia. This was almost like the shithole that was his childhood home. At least the furniture weren’t rotted through back in the holler.

Tolbert had no idea what was happening. He half expected to wake up any second. But the pain of falling seemed real enough and he had a feeling things would get worse before they got better. So he decided he’d rather not get caught with his pants down, literally and figuratively. He retrieved his gun and knives from the pile of wood that used to be the night stand. He then made his way to his luggage and found some blue board shorts and a white polo to wear. The clothes were nice, but looked odd on his tattooed and scarred body with his shaved head. He put on his running shoes and then strapped on his knives and gun with his two extra clips. He picked up the partially empty box of 7.62 ammo from his bag and dumped it into his hand and then put the loose bullets in his pocket. He didn’t know what he’d find outside this room, but he sure as hell was going to be ready to kill it. He just hoped it was something he could kill.

As he was making his way to the door he thought he heard some knocking and maybe some people talking. And then a yell. Tolbert drew his gun and gently pushed on his door. It immediately fell off the hinges and hit the floor in the hallway with a thud. Tolbert sighed at his failed attempt at stealth and quickly peeked around the door frame into the hallway. Before he could get a good look in either direction down the hallway, he heard a sound like breathing coming from behind and quickly whipped his gun around to point at where he thought the source of the sound was. His gun was pointed out the window. He slowly moved to the window and looked outside. What he saw made no sense to him. The island looked like the same island he had arrived at the night before. Except that based on the condition of the island, the night before must have been years of complete neglect ago. Tolbert did not see anything that could have made the noise.

Tolbert had the self-awareness to know that he wasn’t the smartest and most learned person, not even close. But he knew that what he was seeing was impossible. He backed away from the window. He had heard the sounds of people and decided to go looking for them. Surely someone here would know what was going on. And people were a tangible threat that Tolbert could deal. He walked into the hall with his gun at his side.

“Jesus.” A panicked hand gripped the armrest of the plane seat as the plane jerked the passenger awake. The person sitting next to her chuckled and reassured her that everything was okay. At first the soft bumps of turbulence lulled her to sleep, but that last bump was so violent it scared her awake. Freckle covered hands ran through her dark locks as she tried to calm herself back down, she couldn’t shake the anxious feeling that seemed to rising. It’s just turbulence, that’s perfectly normal, just breathe. Once she realized this weird feeling was here to stay she decided to call for the flight attendant since the seat belt sign hadn’t come on yet.

“Can I help you?” A bubbly blonde asked as she reached her seat.

“How much longer until we land?” Worried eyes locked with the flight attendants.

“Not too much longer, the pilot will be coming on and speaking here shortly. Anything else?”

“Thank you, and no I don’t need anything else,” A forced smile dismissed the flight attendant from her row. She let out a sigh as she leaned back into her seat and prayed that the flight would end soon. Flying was never her favorite form of travel and probably never would be her first choice in travel. She would always chose driving over flying, but since you can’t exactly drive to an island she had no other choice. The pilots voice came over the speaker and gave the typical landing speech. Talked about the landing, when they would land, the weather, thanked everyone for choosing to fly with them and told them to look out their windows to see the beauty around them.

The dark haired woman reached over and pulled the window cover up so she could look out an get a look at the island. It was like laying eyes on the island washed away that weird feeling. Even though staring down at the large mass of water below made her stomach sink, she couldn’t help but smile when she laid eyes on the island. Coming here was more than a vacation for her, it was a time for celebration, and she couldn’t be more excited to get off this damn plane and do some celebrating!

Once the plane was on the ground she wasted no time in grabbing her carry on items and charging off the plane to catch the ferry. The second she was off the boat she was greeted by a cool island breeze and the smell of the ocean, she stopped and took a moment to soak in the feeling of relaxation setting in.

“Sofia!” A couple voices called out from behind her. Turning around she saw her group of friends she was traveling with.

“Hey! Aren’t you guys glad to be off the plane?” Sofia asked as she passed hugs all the way around.

“Yes! And we plan on hitting the bar to kick start the night!”

“Okay! I think I’m going to stop by my room and take a cat nap, traveling always takes it out of me. I’ll meet y’all there in…let’s say thirty minutes?” Sofia arched her brows in question. They all agreed and the group went off to find their rooms. Sofia stood behind and watched them leave, a feeling of pride and accomplishment washing over her. The group she was with were her trusted business partners and they were here to celebrate her fashion company’s success. Her little sentimental moment was interrupted by a very beautiful island woman who was asking to take her things and wanted to guide her to her room. She handed over her things, minus the camera bag, and followed behind her so she could snap pictures along the way. Sofia liked to take pictures of everything. It was one of the ways she got inspiration for her designs and she was also a shameless scrapbooker, so the more pictures the merrier! She snapped picture of the beautiful scenery, the beautiful island people, the goofy looking tourists and some of the birds flying over head. Before she knew it they were at her room and her things were being neatly set down by her bed. She thanked and tipped the woman and kind of shooed her away quickly, that big bed was calling her name. Throwing herself onto the cloud of a mattress she felt herself sink away into a deep sleep.

To get up and pee or go back to sleep, that is the question. Sofia thought to herself as she laid in bed with her eyes still closed. She had woken up a few minutes ago, the nagging feeling of needing to relieve herself woke her. The longer she lay awake the more aware of how sore and achey her body felt, she really didn’t even want to move because of how stiff she felt.

“The bar!” Sofia gasped and suddenly didn’t care about how horrible her body felt anymore. Yanking the covers off her she stumbled out of bed and ran to the bathroom to start getting ready. She flipped the switch but the light didn’t come on, groaning she raced to the front of the bedroom to turn that light on only to find that it was no longer working either. Her eyes finally adjusted to the dark and she jumped back against the wall. Where the hell was she? This was not the room that she first walked into. The floors looked rotted, the furniture was in shambles, the bed had dirty sheets on them and there was a thick layer of dust around the room. Just as she was about to leave her room she heard a knocking, followed by muffled voices and then a scream.

“Shit, shit, shit, shit!” Sofia whispered and dove for her bags. She had to find her cell phone and call someone! She was tossing clothes and art supplies as quietly as she could, but there was no phone to be found. Another string of curse words left her mouth as she tried to decide her next move. Should she hide? Try and sneak out? Or just go balls to the wall and take off running? She went with hide and yanked open the closet door to find a laundry basket inside. Without hesitating she grabbed it, flipped it over and shook out whatever could be inside and then crammed herself in it. I am going to hide here until I feel like it’s safe…then….then….I don’t know…I guess I try and find the others…

Zuly waited a moment, before knocking on the door once again, she could hear someone moving inside of the room. If she came across as impatient, that wasn’t her intent, but some odd things were happening. Her eyes danced across the splintering wooden floors, as she waited for the person on the other side of the door to come. The distinct memory of a newly placed wooden floor flashed in her mind’s eye, this hallway was the same she walked through earlier, just aged.

When the door opened, Zuly glanced at the young woman who opened the door. Her eyes danced across the woman’s features, taking in as much information as she could. Late twenties, dark hair, blue eyes, two maybe three more inches taller, not a threat. Zuly’s brow creased at the question, what did she mean under arrest? That is until the police officer glanced at the handgun laced into her fingers.

“Oh, sorry.” Zuly breathed, putting the weapon into it’s holster at her him. “My name is Zuly Adisa, I work for NYPD Homicide division.” She paused, glancing back down the hall, her fingers not leaving the butt of her gun. “What is it that you last remember?”

It wasn't until the gun went away and Camille exhaled that she realized she'd been holding her breath in the first place. The woman standing before her was of similar size and build, but she gave off an air of professional coolness that Camille found calming. That and the pistol at her hip - quite calming, that, now that it wasn't pointed in her direction.

"I'm called Camille," she said, in a voice that sounded calmer than she felt. "Camille Laurent." Her voice didn't have much of an accent, but she pronounced the name as a Frenchwoman would - Ca-mee Laur-on. "The last thing I remember is..."

The window, the curtains, the overwhelming sense of someone else present with her... Camille shuddered.

"The curtain was open," she said. A tremor of nervousness came to her voice, though she did her best to keep it steady. "I know I shut it last night. The curtain was open, and the door wasn't locked. Madame, I fear-"

Camille's phone display shut itself down, removing what little light she had. An involuntary shudder wracked her body, and a gasp escaped her mouth before she came to her senses. She shook her head, embarrassed, and fumbled for a pocket to put the phone into before remembering that she was wearing pajamas.

Camille sighed. Being awoken so unexpectedly always had this effect on her, and it never got any less embarrassing. She squeezed her eyes shut for a moment and tried to collect her thoughts, stifled a yawn, and stepped closer to the other woman to speak quietly to her.

"I fear someone was in my room," she said, almost whispering. "I would not have left the curtains open overnight, I would certainly not have left the door open, and something woke me up." She glanced down the hallway furtively.

"If you are looking for a murderer, madame" she said, "I am doubly afraid."

The young man was sprawled across what was a pretty old, dingy mattress, though, he didn't move around. He'd slept on much worse in his lifetime. Only problem was, that the air felt thick, and a little bit humid. Thick like smoke, but it didn't have the pain in his lungs that smoke actually gives. So what the fuck was going on? Groggily the eyes of the athletic young man opened. It was pretty hard to open them as they seemed glued together. He rubbed them. Damn. He knew he shouldn't have had so many of their little sandwiches. But they tasted so good though. Left him tired enough to just crash, not even take off his sneakers.

After becoming the victor of the battle with his tired eyes, he looked up at the ceiling. Or, as much of it he could see. It was hella foggy in here. He blinked a few times, just thinking that his eyes didn't warm up to the lighting just yet. Okay, so, it was foggy in here. First thought was a fire, but again, the air didn't smell of smoke, but more so, like a mildew-ish smell. He pushed himself up.

How the fuck was it foggy inside the building?

Though, examining the room further, it did not look like the room that he fell asleep in. At all. He didn't sleepwalk himself all the way to like an abandoned part of this resort or somethin....did he? Oh hell naw. This was the wrong spot to be in. This room looked like some old horror movie type of room. Michael wasn't with that shit. He got up out of the bed and whipped his head to the door as he heard more voices. Once the scream was heard, Michael decided he wasn't gonna stick around. He grabbed his phone from up off of a nightstand. No signal. Well, that just sealed it. Wasn't a way in hell that Mike was stayin here. He knew this all expenses paid paradise island resort stuff was sketchy.

Damnit Leonard....Alright. Exits. There was a window and a door that he assumed led to a foggy ass hallway. He knew that whoever set all this up was probably gonna want him to go through the hallway, he played too many scary games and avoided too many scary movies. So, he walked to the window instead. Nope, too foggy to see the ground. He sighed to himself, looking back at the door. The chick from the Grudge better not be on the other side of this door, he swore he'd go out swinging....

Twisting the knob, he pulled the door open real quick. When nothing was there, he half sighed in a small form of relief, but looked out. He noticed a lady standing out in the hallway with a gun. Was she five-oh or....well, whatever, anybody could get a gun these days, so the weapon was probably one of the least scary things he'd seen in his life. He debated on saying something in the event that she was a cop, because maybe then, she'd know what's going on.

Though, at the same time, it still didn't feel right. He decided that he was gonna try to get outta dodge, not stick around with them. Michael went to walk out of the door and start down the hallway to try and hurry past these folks. Another thought tugged at his mind. These were other folks from the resort trip too. So, did they know something he didn't? Would they tell him if they did?

Michael stopped walking and momentarily looked over his shoulder at the women. "Scuse me, but either of you know what's goin' on round here?"

Everyone
A deep and low groan echoed through the house as though it was aware of its own disrepair. While likely just the wind traveling through the rotting and broken structure, it certainly seemed quite spooky and ominous. From their vantage points in the hallways and rooms, most of those trapped in this nightmare together could see the fog get thicker as it blanketed the house. A sudden cacophony of laughter erupted from the fog as the skittering and scampering of large animals echoed from the roof of the building, above the second floor gaming hall. Both disappear within seconds of when they started, and the building is once again eerily quiet.

Sofia
Sofia could barely hear the noises of the creatures on the roof or the laughter from the fog as she hid in the laundry basket, but the sound was enough to distract her from the feeling that something thin and soft had been snaking its way up and around her right leg. As soon as she noticed, the thing tightened and tugged, pulling her right out of the basket and across the closet, and always half way up the wall. It stopped as soon as she could see what was around her. She was alone in the closet still, but several sweaters now hung from the dowel in the closet, a change from when she had covered herself with the basket.

Whatever just happened, well it was nothing compared to a rat climbing out of his bag. Kelly’s heart seemed to stop for what seemed like forever as the moment passed. He felt weak in the knees and almost dropped till he mentally caught himself. This was not where he should be. He had to get off of this island and back home. That’s going to mean leaving this room, for starters. Whoever was in the hallway talking, they couldn’t be the same tremulous creatures he just felt crawling over the roof of the building. With that chilling thought, he slowly stepped into the hallway and shut the door behind him.

There were already several people in the hallway, as he had guessed. Kelly wasn't sure he saw them when he got off the boat. He wasn't sure he saw anything outside of his room. Everything was grey now. The hall held the same fog that had crept into his room and suffocated the charm of the place. The island he came to was bright, beautiful, sunny and warm. Now he felt a chill down his spine. There was no medical reason he could think of for what he was feeling, so it had to be an emotional response to the surroundings. He was looking right at a dimly dark hall with what looked like a strikingly beautiful latina woman to his right that looked like she meant business and the gun at her side gave him the feeling she would take care of it if necessary. To his left a couple of intimidatingly large guys. One of them had his back to him mostly, and looked pretty athletic, probably played sports to make a guess. The one behind him looked tough though, the kind of tough he saw a lot on the table more often than he wished. He was holding a gun as well. Kelly was hoping he wasn’t planning on using it, but he had the feeling he knew exactly how to. He felt like he was stepping into the middle of something the way everyone was standing, but he still turned cautiously to look at the name that should be on his door that he saw on the way in, despite being ready to sleep. It looked like it had been there for decades. The plaque turning green with oxidation, his name was almost illegible now. But it was there, sure as the people standing in the hall with him were there.

Without quite turning back around, Kelly said, “You don't happen to, uhm, know how I got here, do you?” Kelly asked the others, slowly looking at the woman, then moving around to look to his left. It seemed they had a similar, what the hell is going on type of look about them. He wasn't sure what kind of response he would get, but there was no one else around to ask. The many bellhops that greeted them seemed nowhere in sight. Not entirely atypical for a tropical getaway that probably respects privacy, but this was obviously not a typical looking getaway anymore.

Zuly nodded listening intently as Camille recalled her last wake moments, before going to bed. Her fingers ran through her shoulder length tresses, before looking down the hallway, just as another person walked from their room. When a terror filled, scream echoed through the walls, the homicide detective returned the butt of her gun. So far, there wasn’t much use for it, but having her hands physically on it soothed her nerves.

“I’m not actually looking for a murderer.” Zuly chuckled, glancing back to Camille. “I’m supposed to be on a long-awaited vacation.” Her eyes rolled, at the irony. “We aren’t entirely sure what’s going on. I’m sure others are in the same boat.” She replied to the man who approached them. “I think I’d be best if we looked for other guests, and any supplies we can get our hands on. Though-“

Her thoughts were interrupted when the fog started making noise. Zuly’s head snapped up, as if watching the large animal pace across the ceiling, before she pulled her gun out of its holster once more. There was something strange going on, and she was stuck with a bunch of civilians and no chances of back up, sounds like the perfect relaxing vacation she needed.

“Ok let’s forget that thought. I am Zuly Adisa, I work for NYPD Homicide division.” She breathed, voice raising so everyone in the hall could hear her. “We’ll need to stick together, no one leaves alone until we figure out what’s going on here.” She sighed, gun still in hand. “As I said before, we need to see if there are any more guests, and find supplies. From there we’ll search for any reasons we are here.”

When Tolbert walked out of his room he heard a couple of women talking. He didn't catch everything that was said, but he did make out that the lady in the hall was a police officer. He waited a moment by his door, which was now laying in the hall, and another person exited their room: a young looking black kid. He looked like he was about to run and a part of Tolbert wanted to follow, but he knew that would be showing weakness. And when the man turned and walked towards the women, Tolbert decided he would respect him for not running. Then he saw another man, shorter and softer, walk out of his room looking scared. He musta been the one hollerin'.

Tolbert was about to say something to everyone when the sounds began to echo through the halls. The laughter was especially off-putting. Tolbert swung his gun up to aim at the threat that never appeared. What in the hell?

Impressively, the police woman spoke before Tolbert could recover fully. Tolbert wasn't sure if the pretty little officer had seen him and his gun yet, but he slowly holstered it and moved his hand casually away from it. He walked towards her with a big grin on his face, which was only missing a couple of teeth. "Now looky here, it's the law." He paused until he got closer. "I imagine, bein' that yer the law, you think yer in charge. But I reckon we is all out of yer jurisdiction. Ain't we?" He looked slowly at the others, meeting their eyes in turn. "Now I don't plan on sticking around long enough to need supplies because something clearly ain't right around here. Nor do I particularly desire to find e'ry lost soul on this god forsaken island. I reckon I'll find a way out of here and when I do plan on takin' it. I ain't waitin' on you lot neither. I would not mind the company if any of y'all want to go wit' me." Tolbert turned back to Zuly with a smile, "How does that sound, law-woman?"

As the muffled conversation outside of her hotel room continued on Sofia began to gather her thoughts and calm herself down. One thing she found most reassuring and helped bring her back to Earth when she would panic was stating facts.

My name is Sofia Marvin. I am 24 years old. I have brown hair. I am CEO of my own fashion company. I live in New York. I have a cat named Peaches. With each fact she took long slow breaths until her breathing was no longer rapid and shallow. Now that she was calm enough to put together cohesive thoughts she needed to start to plan her escape to safety. If she was transported here somehow there had to be a way back, she just had to find it. Sofia decided that the first step of action would be to search her room once the people outside the room left. She didn’t want to chance alerting the possible psychos that brought her here, she’d rather be safe than sorry.

Sofia was so focused on listening to the voices to make sure she would know when they left and the coast was clear that she didn’t even feel something crawling up her leg. Wait…are there more voices now? She furrowed her brow and leaned closer to the hamper wall to try and hear better, but it was hard to differentiate how exactly how many people were outside.

Wait. Is that a bug?! Her concentration was brokenly the sensation of something on her leg, but before she could look to see what it was she was being forcefully yanked from her hiding spot. Shrill screams escaped her lips as she felt her body climbing up the wall by only God knows what, her arms flailing trying to grasp onto anything to stop it from happening.

“Someone help!” She shouted out to those just outside her room. She would rather face the possible people that brought her here than be dragged up the closet wall. Once she stopped moving upward she craned her neck to see what had a hold on her, but she couldn’t believe her eyes.

“Is that…a sweater?” She gasped and squinted her eyes in hopes the sweater was attached to a very tall person, but there was no tall person. Screams once again left her mouth as she realized that a sweater came to life and was assaulting her, it as something straight out of a scary movie! It was as if by her laying eyes on it scared the…sweater and it released its snug grip on her ankle and let her fall to the floor. Her body hit the floor hard, knocking the wind out her, and her head slammed against the closet wall. With stars dancing around her head she lay on the closet floor gasping for air.

Camille's stomach churned as the slimy man spoke. Granted, Madame Adisa wasn't exactly unattractive, but was this really the time to play Cassanova? Her immediate dislike of the man gave her a sort of perverse confidence otherwise quite at odds with her situation, and she stepped forward out into the hallway proper.

"Enchante, monsieur," she began, half-consciously playing up her accent so as to appear nonthreatening. "I too would like to leave, but I fear that may be harder than it seems."

Camille looked up at the ceiling, whence the noise of wild beasts had came, with an involuntary shudder. As much as she disliked this man, there was safety to be found in numbers.

"Stay at least until the fog lifts," she suggested. "It will be easier to see where we're going then, or to make a sea voyage if it comes to that. Whatever is going on, surely it will be easier to confront in the light, non? Please, let us- merde!"

A scream from the next room over pierced the night and Camille's calm. She dove behind Zuly with an undignified shriek of her own.

"Mon dieu," Camille whispered. "There is a murderer after all."

Yeah, this was definitely felt like it could be a situation if it didn’t calm down. And Kelly was standing in the middle of two people with guns. Not something he is too fond of. He looked at the woman who had just stepped out of the doorway, her curls bounced as she walked forward

“I think we can all agree that this is not the vacation we thought we were gettin’, an’ gettin’ outta here is definitely a priority. If what we ‘eard on the roof is really out there though, I dunno if anyone can leave this place any time soon. I dunno exactly what they were, but they didn’t sound too friendly.” He was hoping that we could all at least agree on something. There was no use in splitting up or killing each other if there is something outside that could probably do that without much trouble. That’s how he felt during that brief moment anyway, that nothing was going to stop those beasts from tearing him to shreds.

“I think the ...uhm… French? lady may be right. This fog is gonna make it hard to ge’ much ‘nywhere on this island, ‘less you happen to know where you’re goin’?” He said turning back to the large, brutish, country guy, instantly wishing that he himself had a slightly less soft appearance. He was never really more than average as far as his build and appearance, but the bright orange hair at least made him stand out in most crowds. Attention can be your friend, sometimes.

A light chuckle left Zuly as Tolbert spoke. Confrontation wasn’t something she shied away from, in fact she thrived off of it. Doubt was something that helped people survive on the streets, and despite his nice clothes Tolbert reeked of the streets. She sighed a bit, when Camille came further into the hallway, the police officer’s fingers slipping her hand gun back into its holster. There was no real need for it right now, and she highly doubted that they would need it. The building they were in told her everything she needed to know, they were alone. Sure, there maybe a few indigenous animals around, but people? They left a long time ago.

“I am more than willing not to be in charge, but the others are right, the fog will disorientate anyone who goes out there. It’s best to stay here for at least that long, and since we don’t know how long that is, we should get supplies.” she murmured amused with the situation. “Let’s for a moment forget that there’s a fog, and that we are on an unfamiliar island with no one else on it. What’s plan B, when you go to the docks and there isn’t a boat?”

Her attention pulled towards a scream down the hall. It was an urgent sound, but now where near what a person being murdered sounded like. The short haired woman glanced at Camille, before patting her shoulder, her attempt to calming the woman down. Zuly sighed for what seemed the billionth time that morning and headed towards the sound, it was her job after all. Even though she doubted there was any real dangers, she placed her fingers onto the butt of her gun, still keeping it in the holster.

When she arrived to the door, she knocked on it with her free hand. Did she have probable cause to just burst in guns blazing? Yes, well not with guns blazing. Did that mean she wanted to just burst in? No, she didn’t know the situation on the other side. Say there was nothing there, just another person just waking up to this condition. She’d be putting herself at risk of getting shot, after all she didn’t know if the other person had a gun in there, and scared people do stupid things. Before a reply could be said, she opened the door.

Camille followed Madame Adisa, a safe distance behind but not so far as to lose the feeling of protection she gave her. Truth be told, the officer's calm demeaner was doing wonders for Camille's. She felt herself breathing easier, and turned her attention from hypothetical murders to the redhaired man who'd addressed her.

"Oui, je suis francaise," she said with a bit of a chuckle. "Yes, I'm French," she repeated in English, just in case. "I'm called Camille. And you, monsieur?"

Camille had relaxed sufficiently to smile a little. She knew there had to be a sensible explaination for this. Maybe they were the unwitting guests on a game show? It would explain the mysterious invitations and how the people behind them could afford them, for one, and really, what other explaination could there be for the sudden transformation of the building? Oui, that was it! This might even be fun - though Camille rather wished her first introduction to these people hadn't been in her pajamas. She only then realized that she still had a sleep mask pushed up onto her forehead, and she quickly tore it off with her free hand.

Ah, she'd just have to make a better impression from now on, wouldn't she?

Camille startled at the noise of Zuly knocking on a door up ahead. A faint gasp escaped her lips - so much for making a better impression! She was torn between curiosity and fear - part of her wanted to move closer to get a better view and part of her wanted to run away, and she found herself stepping behind Zuly again as a compromise, glancing between the door and the others in the corridor. Secret game show or not, Camille was nervous again.

Tolbert sighed at the frightened scream. What now? He drew his gun and watched as Zuly and Camille went to the door where the scream had come from. He decided that he may as well stick with these people for now. Maybe they could figure out what was going on here. Whatever it was he didn't like it one bit. He went to stand next to the doorway as the detective knocked.

How many times had he entered a room with gun drawn? Some scumbag on the other side of the door who was foolish enough to not pay his debts. This was very different. First, the people were different: an average looking guy, a college boy, a French woman, and a cop for God's sake. Second, while he never knew exactly what he'd find, this time he didn't even have an idea of what they'd find on the other side of that door. And third, this is completely fucked up. What kind of fog fills halls like this? What happened to the building and island? What were those sounds?

The detective opened the door and Tolbert spun around the door frame into the room gracefully for his size. He pointed his gun, looking for a threat.

Why was it so hard for her to catch her breath? It could very well be because she was scared shitless or that she was trying so hard to breathe again. Either way it was painful, with each gasp for air it felt like her chest tightened and throat closed in on her which only made her panic even more. As she laid there on the floor she noticed that the closet was filled with sweaters, had they always been there? She was quiet certain that the closet was empty when she first came in and that thought only made her freak out even more.

By the time Sofia caught her breath she could hear people entering her room. She thought about staying in the closet for a few minutes and trying asses if these people could trusted or not, but she really didn’t want to stay in the closet a minute longer. Sofia sat up and took a minute to adjust to the throbbing pain in the back of her head before standing up and taking a peak outside of the closet.

Her head was barley out of the closet when her eyes landed on the gun pointed in her general direction. She let out a gasp and quickly pulled her head back behind the doors, “don’t shoot!” She shouted as she cowered in her former sanctuary. Sofia liked to think her odds were better with a demon scarf than a loaded gun.

While he was waitin on the women to perhaps give an answer, he kept his eye on the end of the hall. The fog wasn't helping with seeing anything....Damnit, if he ever got out of this Leonard was gonna get it. When it seemed like neither one of them had an answer, he was about to walk further away to find a way to hightale it out of there.

But his motions were abruptly interrupted by what sounded like maniacal laughing coming from the ceiling. It caused him to jump, and when the sounds of steps were coming from above, he stumbled right back over to the chick with the gun. This would be to get out of the firing range should that thing come from wherever the hell it was at. He was right. It was some horror movie type of shit. Oh hell no....Not good. Not good at all. They needed to get the fuck out, and right now.

Michael just kinda stood around as these folks kept talking. The fuck was this chick, who apparently was a damn cop, talking about check the rooms for other survivors? Fuck THAT! She could do that shit when she had back up, not when she's the only person with a gun in a hotel of who knows what and who knows where. He was still stuck on the urge to stay here, as whatever the heck that was making that noise, would be running loose. He'd rather not encounter it defenseless.

He was still firm on the fact that this cop was crazy. This wasn't no crime investigation. He didn't like, either, how they were going on about greetings n pleasantries n shit while they were probably quite literally in a life or death situation. From the look of it, there were about five of them there all together. So maybe it'd be a little less to worry about. So long as he didn't see any Hocus-Pocus shit, he'd probably be alright, he guessed.

There was more screaming from another room. Make that six...unless she died right in there, quite frankly he didn't want to know. Okay, so other big dude had a gun too. Two are always better than one he guessed... When they went in, he stayed in the hallway. No thanks. They got it.

“Congratulation’s, you’ve scared an already terrified woman.” Zuly sighed, mildly amused at the situation they had been placed in. “I feel so much safer having you around.”

Her eyes rolled as she walked further into the room, much like her’s this room had an ancient look to it. As others filtered into the room, She leaned against the windowsill her eyes looking at the other who filtered in the room. It was her duty to keep these people safe, no matter what, even if they were a couple hundred miles away from her jurisdiction. The Police officer sighed, redirecting her gaze to the terrified woman, there’s so much they all needed to talk about, before they could make a plan.

“Pardon the intrusion.” Zuly muttered, standing up again. “We heard you scream and thought something was the matter, we didn’t mean to scare you.” She breathed taking a step closer to the new woman. “My name is Zuly Adisa, I work for NYPD, and we all seem to be stuck in the same situation. Can you tell me what you last remember, before you went to sleep?”

Kelly peeked around the edge of the door. There was another woman in there that appeared to be rather distressed and quite ready to break out into tears to beg for her life. Not much different than Kelly felt now, for that matter. He would much rather be home wallowing in self pity, but he took this trip to get away from all of that. Now he is here with a bunch of other people who are scared for their lives, no matter what face they are putting on. The new member of their band of wasn't wearing a mask.

Kelly slowly walked into the room, trying to be as unthreatening as possible. “I'm Kelly, Kelly O'Curran. An’ I bet I can guess what you last remember.” Kelly’s tone became a little somber as he recalled his own experience. “You received an invitation to an all expenses paid resort for the weekend. It seemed like a good idea. Everyone can find a little time to spend relaxing and gettin’ away from life when it's free.” Kelly’s voice was speeding up a little and he was beginning to wander and avoid eye contact, recalling his reasons for being there himself in his mind. “So yes, you go on the trip. What the hell, it's going to be great. Everyone is telling you so. You somehow manage to make it here and then you're greeted by beautiful people that take you to a room that is a delightful little retreat.” He pauses for a few seconds to let everyone picture their own experiences. Then, as though he were telling them all their fates, he stopped suddenly looked from face to and said, “An’ now, you're here. You don't know how. You don't know why. And you don't know what this is. But I think any one of us can tell you, this is not a good place. That there is danger here.” He stood as though they he wanted someone else speak for a brief moment. “An’ now, we are here together to try and get outta this. So with that, again, I'm Kelly. Maybe we should all try 'n formally introduce ourselves, again, so at least our new companion in this fucked up place can know who burst inna her room. Zuly has already shared, and myself. So, who else wants to share?”

Kelly wasn't quite sure what took over for him to try to lay everything out there. He usually keeps most thoughts to himself. It's why he works much better with dead people than living ones. They care a lot less about why you want to make an incision somewhere. But he did it. Maybe it was the pushy big headed people with guns that thought they were going to save the day. Maybe it was that he felt like he should be scared for his life right now. However, at the moment after his “speech” he felt petrified. Someone else needed to say something, and it was going to feel like forever till they did.

Sofia was eyeing the group of people funneling into her room through some of the cracks in the closet door, keeping a close eye on the gun wielding man. One of the women reprimanded the man with the gun and made her way towards the closet. Sofia cracked the closet open a bit more so she could look the woman in the face, but decided to stay put until she felt safe around everyone in her room.

“NYPD?” She suddenly felt safe and scared all at once. Safe, because she was with a police officer, but scared because if a cop was involved that meant something went wrong. If the cop is with all these people then they must be okay to be around. Sofia blushed and sheepishly stepped out of the closet, she was now embarrassed by her panic at the gun.

“I, uh,” She looked upwards as she tried to get her mind to clear so she could focus on the officer’s question. What was the last thing she remembered before she woke up? Honestly she was still focused on what happened a few minutes ago, the attack of the demon sweater. Before she could answer a man, who introduced himself as Kelly, spoke up and began to tell his version of the story. She couldn’t help but feel for him, he was obviously just as scared and confused as she was and all he wanted was a nice little vacation, but instead he woke up in hell. Sofia smiled when he mentioned everyone introducing themselves for her so she wouldn’t feel too weird about the situation.

“Thank you, Kelly, I’m Sofia. I guess my story is similar to yours. I came here for some time away, to drink way too much, get a killer tan and celebrate life with my friends…” She bit down on her lip when she mentioned her friends, she could only hope they weren’t stuck in this hell hole. She sighed and ran her hands nervously through her hair before turning her eyes back to Zuly.

“Last thing I remember doing was tipping the lady that helped me to my room and flung myself onto the bed to take a nap before meeting up with my friends. When I woke up…I woke up here,” she gestured around to the ruins that surrounded them, “and when I heard voices I got scared and hid in the closet, but then…” Sofia trailed off and looked back at the closet. She didn’t know if she should even mention the sweater attacking her, who the hell would even believe her anyway?

“Then that’s when you all came in.” She shrugged and looked around at everyone.

As the people in the ruined house spoke o one another, the sounds of the morning could be heard outside the house. Birds began to chirp, the rooms began to light up with the reds and oranges of the morning sun, and the fog began to loosen its grip on the house. If they had not woken up in a hell hole surrounded by dust and decay, it would have been the perfect morning. Regardless, the strange noises and laughter seemed a distant memory now with the beauty of this morning.

Zuly nodded slightly watching as Kelly talked about everything from the beginning to this moments. She took note of the eerily similar situation, and the fact that just like her most people here didn’t remember any movement. It was impossible for this many people to be moved and not a single person to not seeing anything, but it was more impossible for them to have slept until the home decayed into this. Something just didn’t add up, and it was important for them to figure something out. A thoughtful mask formed, as she pulled out her small police book, and jotted down a few thoughts and facts.

Hearing Sofia speak, Zuly turned her attention back to the woman who was now inching from the closet. The police officer back away, give the woman some space, as well as to keep an eye on those in the room. Mild worry and relief both echoed on the Sofia’s face, drawing a half smile from Zuly, though the hesitation in the freckled woman, caused Zuly to eye her suspiciously. Fear was a natural response to situations like this, but there was something the young woman wasn’t sharing with the group, which slightly concerned the officer.

“Don’t worry too much about my presence.” Zuly breathed, sending Sofia a smile. “I was here to relax too, and woke up here. I’m just trying to help in whichever way I can.”

The room brightened up a bit, drawing Zuly’s attention to the windows. It was nice hearing the joyous chirp of birds in the background, it reminded her of the two Parakeet’s she left at home. I hope they are doing well, she thought momentarily. Despite the bleak surroundings and being kidnapped, she had to admit the sunrise was beautiful.

“The fog has gone down, but who here remembers their journey here?” She paused, glancing around the room. “I’m not here to boss you all around, that would be counterproductive, but I do believe it would be best if we prepared for all outcomes. It would be best to get any supplies we can, and maybe find a map or two of the island to lower risk of getting lost. Radios, batteries, food, water, medications, and bandages are always handing to have. I also still suggest we don’t go anywhere alone.”

Sergei had always been a rather heavy sleeper when it came to noises, but he always immediately woke up when sunlight touched his face. He woke up and groggily looked around. Everything seemed... Different from when he'd arrived last night. Or did it? He couldn't quite remember actually going to his room last night. He looked down at his mattress and jumped up in surprise, it was filthy. "Oh gross! Nngh... Probably covered in germs... And... Ugh, I need a shower." He looked around the room more, now that he was fully awake. The light revealed that everything in the room was disgustingly decayed. "Oh no... No, no, no, no, no!" He mumbled, while backing away toward the door. The door, he noticed, was already open partly, so he simply nudged it open with his foot.

He backed into the hallway and looked around again. Since there wasn't really any furniture in the hallway, it appeared cleaner than in his room. Nearby, another person was standing in the hall, looking around fearfully. "Hello? Do you know where the resort staff are? I need to file a complaint about my room, it's... Disgusting..." He said, crossing his arms and shivering.

Tolbert holstered his gun again soon after realizing it was only the girl. He frowned and gritted his teeth. His face revealed a little disappointment. "Girl's lucky she din't get her head blowed off," he said under his breath through his clenched teeth. He walked and stood to the side of the window so that he wasn't in full view but could still see fairly well outside. He thought about the present situation as he listened to the others. Was the fog beginning to lift? The sun began peeking through and it was beautiful over the ocean. At least until he turned back to look at the shithole they were standing in.

After Zuly finished talking, Tolbert decided to chime back in. "If we plan on stayin' here, getting fitted with that would be all well and good. But suppose'n we ain't the only ones here. And they's now makin' their way to a boat or plane to get the fuck outta here. I for sure don't want to be the fool that walked about lookin' for a radio and then get left behind. What we need to do is to first get off the island. If we ain't find a way quickly, then we can focus on being ready to stay here. And then we can find whatever y'all want."

He turned to look outside and get oriented to where he thought he remembered the docks being. Tolbert pointed in the general direction, "I come in on a boat. The docks weren't that far from here. I don't know about any runway, but it surely ain't too far to that. I aim to check thems places. If that don't pan out, then I'll resign myself to stayin' here a bit and focus on makin' sure we live 'til someone comes fer us." He turned back to the sunrise, "'Sides, the fog is gone, we'll be able ta make our way quick-like."

A large crash echoed from one of the rooms down the hallway, and the door swung open ever so slightly. A low groan came from just inside the doorway. The name plaque on the door spelled Antony. He was not any of the gathered members so far. In fact, some could swear that the door did not have a name moments ago. The low groan turned into silence.

The docks could be seen from most of the front windows, especially from the living area next to the kitchen. There was not a single boat in sight, and the docks were rotting and partially collapsed, many of it underwater already.

“Okay let’ suppose we make it to a boat in the race to get there. There isn’t going to be food on the boat and most likely no water, those are things you get when you PLAN on going on a trip. Mind you, it took me at least a week to sail here, what are we going to eat?” Zuly sighed glancing at Tolbert, “With all of us trapped, why would our captors leave us on an island with a boat that functioned correctly? Thinking things through and clearly is the only way we get through this.” She said more firmly. “I see every day what happens when a person panics, and acts on urges, in situations like this.”

Hearing clatter in the distance Zuly pressed her fingers to her temples. She was getting tired of rushing this way and that to make sure the situation was safe, only to find another survivor. Survivors were a good thing though, there was a strength in numbers, and judging from where she stood, this wasn’t a normal abduction situation.

“Take someone with you if you insist on going.” She breathed, as she stood. “I’m going to search for supplies, we all will need them whether or not there is a ship.”

Her dark eyes rested on Tolbert a long moment before she walked to the door, her hand resting on the butt of her gun. She glanced at the others, almost hesitating to leave them in a room on their own. Seeing Anthony, Zuly opened the door more with her foot glancing around the room for any danger. Once she felt okay about the situation, she looked down at the man.

“How you feeling?” she half smiled, looking for any wounds.

"Yes, we need to think things through, but what good is that gonna do us if we cann' even decide on a main course of action?" Kelly was getting frustrated. Tolbert probably wasn't going to take orders from a woman and Zuly isn't going to be willing to let us be lead by some big bruiser. "It's not gonna get us anywhere to go runnin' off with our own agendas!"

Looking down at the docks, Kelly felt a feeling of loss. Loss of hope and an option of how to get off the island. Not only was there not a boat, there was barely a dock. It may as well be hurricane season. "We aren't going on a boat," Kelly said, gesturing to the pieces of wood that mildly resembled the dock that was once there. Then he heard the echo of another noise down the hall. There are still more people, if we are lucky, in the building.

"We should see what we have here, either to protect ourselves or get us through the next couple days till someone comes to get us." Zuly had already left the room, so he felt like he may as well be talking to a wall and a bunch of bunch of scared sheep. His own actions were probably only a result of his training to think under pressure. Though he did choose a different path, pressure usually caused him to break before things were though.

"Zu-" he suddenly felt self conscious of the way his voice sounded. Kelly cleared his throat and tried again with a more pronounced tone. "Zuly, where are you going?" And he hesitated and looked at Tolbert and Sofia before leaving the room after her, excusing himself past Camille as he walked.

It was comforting knowing that they at least had a police officer on their side, she was trained to handle sketchy situations and maybe that gun of hers would keep them safe. Sofia planned on sticking as close to Zuly as possible without invading her personal space, the woman seemed calm and in control of the situation which in turn kept Sofia calm.

“Oh, yeah, everything leading up until I went to sleep is crystal clear.” That made her uncomfortable for some reason. Why is it the second she went sleep she couldn’t recall a damn thing? The man that had pointed the gun at her earlier seemed displeased as he put his gun away and she couldn't quite hear what he said through his grumpy mumbling. Note to self; avoid the cranky gun guy. She eyed him suspiciously for a few seconds before turning her attention back to Zuly who was mentioning gathering supplies. Sofia didn’t even know if they would find anything of value considering the state of their surroundings.

Looking for a way out of here first seemed like a good idea, especially if there was a chance that their only ride out of here had a time limit on it. She bit down on her lip as she tried to think of what they should do, she did agree that they all needed to stick together and not split up, but with everyone voicing their own ideas it might be hard to get everyone to come together.

“I think looking for the boat or another way out is a good idea. If we find a way out we can lock that in place and then gather supplies we will need for our trip back home. If we don’t find a way out then we still gather supplies and think of another plan of action,” Her voice was more suggestive than commanding like Zuly’s and Tolbert’s, she wasn’t really the type of person to take charge in these kind of situations. Before anyone could reply to her a crash from outside her room pulled away their attention. Sofia flinched slightly at the sudden noise and stepped away from the closet just in case it was time for round two with that sweater. Sofia craned her neck to see out the window and noticed that the fog had lifted and the sun was beginning to rise, but she also noticed the destroyed dock. Her heart sunk, they were going to have to stay awhile.

Zuly wasted no time in going to check out what caused that noise and Kelly was right behind her. Sofia stood there awkwardly for a moment before deciding she would rather follow Zuly than stay behind.

“Excuse me,” She said as she let the room and quickly took off after Zuly and Kelly.

Camille, for her part, found herself hanging further and further at the periphery of the room as more people entered it. She was comfortable in wide open farmland or dark libraries full of the musty smell of books - a small hotel room full of strangers was far outside her comfort zone. And how strange these strangers were!! She didn't like the cranky man with the gun, that was for sure; oh, why hadn't she encouraged him to wander off on his own, anyway? The woman whose room this had been seemed normal enough, but what had she been doing in the closet? Everything was so off, and even if - though - it was a sick joke, Camille was on edge. And she was still in her pajamas.

And so, when a smaller group detached themselves to leave the room - a group including the friendly police officer, at that - Camille was considerably relieved. Anything to get away from the rude man! She turned her gaze to the rest of the group and stepped forward with a polite nod.

"Excusez-moi," she said, and followed them out.

The hallway hadn't changed any further since she'd last been out here, and while Camille knew it was irrational to worry, it was still reassuring. The other three weren't far off, and hardly had to hurry to catch up.

"Ah, madame Zuly!!", she called out as she approached. "Would you mind if I accompany you?"

The young man rubbed the back of his head as he sat up. ”My name is Antony, in case you couldn’t tell by the name on the door.” He motioned towards the name plaque on the door. ”What the hell happened here? One moment I am sleeping soundly in my nice room, and the next I wake up and my nightmares are only just starting.” He sighed, taking hold of his doorknob to stand up. About halfway up, the rusted knob snapped in half, sending Antony tumbling to the floor again. ”God damn, blaster door!” He kicked it, leaving a sizable hole. With a sigh he pushed himself first to his knees, and then to his feet. Dusting himself off, he looked up at the others gathered before him. ”I haven’t seen any of you before. You all new arrivals here?” He looked around. ”Well, the here before… this.”

“I’m going to investigate that noise.” She half chuckled, answering Kelly’s question.

A light smile touched her lips, as she nodded at Camilla’s question of joining her. In situations like these, it wasn’t wise for someone to go off on their own. Zuly held out her hand, as she watched Antony sit up, after all, if they all were going to be stuck together, they might as well play nice. It wasn’t that she couldn’t play nice, it was just difficult after only dealing with dead bodies day in and day out. Sometimes she didn’t show the sympathy she needed to, that’s why her partner dealt with the families of the deceased.

“Whelp, it’s nice meeting you Antony,” Zuly breathed, glancing over to Camilla. “My name’s Zuly, this is Camilla. There’s a handful of others, who also woke up confused about what happened.” She sighed, moving her hand away from him, before returning it there. “Yes, we arrived yesterday evening, do you work here? Or are you also a visitor?”

There didn't seem to be much reason to stay in the room they were in, at the very least. They should probably try to find somewhere they could gather and see what they have to get them through the next few days. Kelly had a hunch no one brought much in the way of food, being that it's an all inclusive resort. I must be a genius Kelly thought as he pointed out the obvious in his head. So, he followed the others out of the room, though stopped before exiting and turned to Tolbert, "there doesn' seem to be anyone else stayin'n here, maybe lets go find a better place to convene. Least we can maybe figure out a game plan."

He finished his exit and turned to see the women near a new survivor just standing up and a slightly beaten up door. He heard him speak as he neared the group. Through the crowded hall, Kelly responded as well, after Zuly introduced herself and Camilla. "Hello, I'm Kelly. I got here yesterday as well. This place... Well I guess this isn't what I thought I was gettin' with a free, all inclusive vacation." Kelly smirked a little. Smirked! Was he even aware of where he was now? A hell hole where he may never end up leaving!

Again, Kelly despaired at his current surroundings. His facial expression changed to one that was more somber. He opened his mouth for a second, then closed it again. It was hard to make suggestions toward a solution that he felt was going to end in disaster. There is something about this place that sends a chill up the spine so cold he may as well be on a table having someone go through his organs to figure out just how much of a wuss he was before he abruptly died. "We should find somewhere larger to gather and figure out what we're gonna do about our situation. Or..." he again was lost for words, but tried to push on, "uh, just try and make it off the island now." it wasn't his preference, but it was still an option.

Sofia decided to wait outside in the hallway so she wouldn’t crowd whoever was in that room. She wasn’t too fond of having a herd of people staring at her awkwardly when she first made her terrified introduction, so she gave the guy a little space. She craned her head forward when she began to hear him speak, but quickly rolled her eyes and went back to minding her own business outside of his room.

“Why is every guy here a major ass hat?” Sofia muttered to herself and kicked at some broken chunks of wood on the floor. She shifted her thoughts back to her friends and her stomach twisted nervously. She hoped that they weren't trapped in this creepy nightmare, but apart of her thought it would be nice to see a friendly, familiar face. Maybe she could get someone to pair up with her to help search the area for her friends, she certainly did not want to be alone after her tango with the sweater.

"And we should also start gathering supplies as a back up just in case we are stuck here another night. I'll go with you," She said to Kelly after he mentioned finding a way out of here.

"Uh, well" Kelly wasnt quite sure how to respond to Sofia's request, or rather determination, that they go look for supplies. "I think we need supplies, but I'm not sure we should split up till we have somewhere to meet back up again. I don't know where anything is here." Kelly looked first to Sofia, addressing her, before glancing over the rest of them. "Does anyone disagree with that?"

"I actually lived in the boiler room downstairs in the basement. I have no idea how I got up here or why my name is on that placard." He sighed, scratching the back of his head. "What else has changed since I fell asleep? I know most of the island. I did work here for a month."

Adam had his doubt about this trip from the very beginning. He had a bunch of work to do with his research as well as a dig to prepare for in 6 months, but his friends had practically shoved him on the plane and told him a week in "paradise" would do him good. At least they had remebered to pack one of his books!

The island was beautiful, and the guy at the check in counter was definitely the kind of eye candy he expected at a tropical resort. Of course Afam was to shy to flirt, he never had the guts to do that. The room was large and comfy and drew Adam into its embrace, bringing with it sleep.

A hideous laughter woke Adam up. He rolled out of the dingy mattress and fell to the creaky floor with a loud thud; with the thud rose a cloud of dusy that caused him to start coughing uncontrollably. A loud scream startled him out of the coughing and made him scramble to get up and see what was going on. When he got to the door, he noticed the state of the room and logged it away for later, he also heard other voices in the hall outside. Opening the door with a creak he stepped out and saw a group of people standing by another door looking at a name plate. Apparently it had the name of the person who woke up in it.

"Thank God there are other people here! Whatvthe hell was that laugh?! And who the hell screamed?!" His voice cracked a little more then he meant. The scream shook him up more then he expected.

Zuly sighed, pinching the bride of her nose. Dead people were so much easier to deal with when it came to times like this. She missed her partner more than anything, he would know what to say that would calm the situation. Her fingers tightened into a fist before relaxing once again, a way she often calmed her thoughts.

“I agree, first we need to set a base for all of us to meet at.” Zuly smiled rather warmly. “From there we should go in groups of two, and search each level, for any supplies. That would be our best bet, a radio or anything to contact the outside world would be good.” Her fingers brushed the back of her neck momentarily, before returning to her side. “You know this place a bit better than we do, where would be the best place for our home base?”

"Wait," Kelly caught something that Antony had said, "did you say you know most of the island?" Kelly paused slightly, but realized he couldn't wait for the inevitable answer and began in a new line of questions and ideas. He pushed his way up to Antony and stopped just inside of arms length.

"If you know the island, then you would know how we could get off of it. How big it is. If there is a hospital, an airport, docks. You could get us off this island!" Kelly's face was half crazed. His eyes were locked on Antony. He could get off this island. It's possible. Someone here knows something about this place! "Well, Antony, can you help us? Will you help us?" He stressed that last bit, though he wasn't trying to. He was still having trouble believing that with the state of things after waking up, he could leave. There is something not right about this place, and the best solution is to get off this island as soon as possible.

"I'm fine with that, I just don't want to stand around and chit chat anymore. I want to start being productive, wether it's getting supplies or getting a better feel for our area." Sofia debated on wether or not she should tell the group about her friends possibly being here as well, but decided to not say anything until she had to. She heard Antony speak up about knowing his way around the place and she perked up a bit. If he was familiar with the island he would know how to possibly get them off!

"The only changes-" Just as she was about to answer Antony's question she heard another voice calling out to them. Her stomach dropped slightly in fear that whoever it was, was not going to be friendly. He seemed to be like everyone else that kept popping up around here; lost and confused.

"We're still trying to figure that out ourselves, and...the scream was me," Sofia admitted sheepishly. She still hadn't told everyone what caused her scream and she really didn't want to try and explain that to them, so hopefully the new guy wouldn't question her on it. "We're still trying to get our bearings on the whole situation." She stepped over slightly so the new comer could join in on their small group and peer into the room if he wanted to.

"Anyways, as I was saying the only changes besides the super aged resort would have to be the atmosphere. It has a very weird vibe now, unlike before, and there have been some creepy situations pop up since we all have woken up. Thankfully you know your way around here so hopefully we won't have to be here too long." Sofia was eager to have Antony start showing them around and potentially getting them off this island, but she certainly wasn't as eager as Kelly was. It was like a switch went off inside him making him go from calm and collected to frantic and desperate. He was spewing questions at Antony like a crazy person and he seemed to be extremely tense. Her eyes widened at his behavior and she gave a side glance to Zuly to gage her reaction.

Sofia hated that she didn't know everyone here, that she couldn't tell what was considered normal behavior for each person. Seeing Kelly's behavior change so quickly made her uneasy and she didn't like that, she wanted to feel comfortable and safe with the people she was surrounded by right now. Antony was the one person that could truly help them, there was no need to basically assault him with questions like that. Someone needed to say something to bring Kelly back to his calm state and since no one had said anything yet she nervously cleared her throat and stepped forward into the doorway.

"Kelly, I'm sure he'll help us...just take a breath and calm down."

Antony shook his head for a moment, but seemed to be thinking about something. After a moment he spoke up. ”Docks are the only way in and out, I believe. I do see some planes heading over the island, so maybe the owner up in his mansion has a private one? As for supplies, there is a small grove of trees not far from here that produce a lot of varied fruits. I think it was some sort of planting exercise from years past that grew wild and they decided to just keep it as it was to produce fruit for the island. Not many people go there now. It might still be up and kicking out fruit.”

Zuly sighed, watching as the others questioned the young man. It was easy to forget that each person here was in the same situation of waking up in a different world almost. Her fingers wiped away whatever dust that got onto her black denim pants, and dark shirt. This was what she got for listening to her boss, “Get away from everything, and have some me time,” he said. The thought of it all made her snort, this sure was great me time. Her eyes rolled, before she took the conversation in once again. It was important to know where they were, perhaps a map of some sort, though the human memory wasn’t a sure thing…... a real paper map would be the best idea, but Anthony was the best they had so far.

“Docks often have flares,” Zuly murmured aloud, bringing her knuckle to her lips. “And if there are planes around, we could use that to call for attention to ourselves.”

Her brow creased at the mention of the owner of the resort. It could be completely possible that he had a boat, but what were the chances that he would just leave it there, when no one else seemed to be on the island. Logically that made no sense, but what in the situation did?

“Anthony, are there any wild animals here? Anything that could possibly hurt those who are stranded?” She questioned, glancing at him. “It would be a good idea to have a group look for a boat, while another one searched for food and other supplies. With that said though, if there’s any chance that we could be injured by an animal, we’ll need to set extra precautions.”

Kelly was morbidly excited to hear what Zuly said about needing help if someone gets injured. However, as he started to say something, he realized that no one will have any sort of confidence in a doctor that appears spooked and delirious, despite the circumstances around the situation. It gave him pause. He steadied himself, took a deep breath, and said to the others, in as even a tone as he could manage, "I am a medical examiner at a hospital in Chicago. I'm sure I could help with any injuries that occur, with the appropriate tools. Antony, is there a medical facility on the island, or at least a first aid area for the resort?" He didn't think that anything he could do would help were they to be attacked by whatever what outside last night, but having a purpose made him useful to the group. And right now, he felt like that was important to getting off the island.

Zuly showed clear leadership. She was confident, people seemed comforted by her position as a police officer, and she seemed to be showing no signs of fear of the situation they found themselves in. Meanwhile, Kelly couldn't understand how they could have ended up in such a decrepit resort when he had arrived at a glamorous and beautiful island. There was no way to make sense of how they ended up here. If Kelly could be a second, he would have the best chance of making it off this island. More of the choices they made would have his opinion weighed heavily on them. He would do what he could to appear a steady, supportive second. Even if it meant going against his instincts to flee, he was going to fight for his survival.
