London, England - Midday.

"Katrin! You have a visitor! He says he's your uncle!"
Professor Grimm smiled, smoothing the dark, wiry hair of his beard between forefinger and thumb as he waited. He appeared calm, relaxed even, about meeting his 'niece' for the first time. Katrin Edlund was not, in fact, Caelin Grimm's niece at all - but the truth was far more difficult to believe, and these Muggles, like many, did not seem to want to reach for unbelievable truths. They preferred, largely, to hold onto the comfort of something simple, and reasonable to them.

When Katrin appeared, Caelin's smile widened, and he held out a hand for her to shake.

"Hello, Katrin. It's so good to meet you at last. There's so much for us to discuss, I..."

Grimm paused, looking up at the Katrin's foster parents. They had seemed relieved at the story he'd given them - that he was Katrin's uncle, that he'd discovered her existence and now wished to adopt her into the family, sending her to a prestigious private school. The truth was much more... Magical. Caelin smirked, amused at his own thoughts.

"Would you give us a moment? I'd like to speak to Katrin privately."

When they were alone, he turned back to face her, his smile warm.

"Hello, Katrin," he said again, "I'm Professor Caelin Grimm, of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I must confess, I was not entirely honest to the Muggles... I mean, to your foster parents. I am not your uncle.

I am here for a different reason. You're special, Katrin. I'm sure you've seen the signs - strange things happening, when you were angry or upset, or scared? The truth is, Katrin... you're a Witch. You're capable of incredible things... and I'm here to help you learn to achieve them."

He paused, waiting for her response. Maybe I should have paced it a little more. Was that too much, all at once? he thought.

"Katrin! You have a visitor! He says he's your uncle!"

The annoyingly high pitched shrill voice of her foster mom could be heard from the girl's room. It was a rather clean room. Surprising for a young girl of Eleven. Eleven today! The room was painted bright pink. As were the sheets and blankets on the hospital bed in the corner. They'd even managed to convince the company that the railing on said bed needed to be pink as well. Not an easy feat. There was a desk to another corner. Nothing else on it, except an older laptop. Quite outdated, but then, as her foster parents had told her many times over, "We've paid a lot of money for all your equipment. cuts had to be made somewhere!"

She had no illusions that this would be the last family she saw. Oh no. The young girl was well aware she was too much for most to deal with. After all, she'd been told the same enough times. Still, it wasn't a bad home. This one. It was rather quite pleasant. That is, when she wasn't getting in trouble. Or being too loud. . . . Or any number of other offenses.

She pushes her way out of the small room. Just barely avoiding the almost-too-narrow doorway. She takes just a moment to glance down, seeing the black scuffing along the bottom of the door and walls. Something she'd gotten yelled at quite a lot for. She stops for a second, avoiding a running child, then continues on her way down the hall.

She stops in front of the strange man. Hands on her wheels to keep it from moving on her. She wore a black t-shirt with a blue police call box on the front. Blue jeans, and pink fuzzy socks. She didn't wear shoes. Absolutely refused to wear them. They were lucky enough to have her in matching socks at the moment. She had long blond hair. For the moment, it was braided behind her. The edge of the braid down past the back of her wheelchair (https://www.mobilitychoices.com/img/cache/product-main/invacare_ultra_light_active__large_.jpg). She wasn't very tall. But then, that could be simply because she was sitting. The top of her head coming up to about Professor Grimm's waist.

Her piercing blue eyes look up at him curiously. They were the kind of blue that seemed to almost pierce into a person's very soul. And, with the way she studied him, she seemed to be doing just that. She reaches out, taking his offered hand, and shaking it. Just as he asks for privacy, another laughing, shrieking, youngster runs past them. Katrin sighs. "We can go to my room. . ." And with that, quiet, hushed, statement, she was off again. Leading the way back to her room.

This time, as she runs back to her room, she doesn't pay attention to the door. A loud crash is heard as her right caster comes into contact with the door frame. A great amount of cursing, her name mixed in, is heard from the living room. She simply shrugs it off, not at all bothered. Hands on her wheels, she pushes up and back, righting herself once more, squarely on the seat. Then continues through the door. Once in, she turns back to face him, listening as he talks about obscure things.

Things that seemed like a dream. Seemed to be from any number of her favorite TV shows. No, the old ones She would always correct anyone who asked. They always assumed she kept up with the modern obsessions. But, those just couldn't seem to captivate her. That is, until one nurse, during one of many hospital visits, introduced her to something more . . . magical.

She blinks up at him a few times, then shakes her head sadly. She doesn't say anything right away. Simply turns away from him. Goes to her desk and turns back on the computer. "Ya know, I though to myself, maybe just maybe I'd get a cake for my birthday. Of course, it would be half eaten and smooshed. What with Jane and Tommy running around like crazed animals. But, never in my wildest dreams, did I think. . . ." Here she spins around, anger flashing in her eyes, and the movement, "That someone would play such an obviously cruel joke on me. I've had my share of them. "Oh, Katrin, that police box out there. . . Some man in a funny hat just stuck his head out." Her voice shrieking, mocking, as she retold countless things she had heard. -"Oh Katrin, Why's that old car out there? With two really hot guys leaning against it? She shakes her head, glaring. "Why, in all the universes, would I believe that someone's come to take me away from this hellhole?!" She shrieks.

As her anger mounts, as if to prove the Professor's very point, her door slams closed with an unknown force. She jumps in her chair, surprised and off guard. She brushes a few stray strands of hair behind her ear. "I-I didn't do that." Her eyes were big as she looks between him and the door. Her mind seeming to race a thousand a minute.

She gestures weakly toward one lonely rocking chair in the room. "M-maybe you should sit down. . .A-and start over. . ." Her voice almost resigned. As if she had decided to play along with the all too cruel prank. There wasn't joy in her eyes. No, there was pain, sadness. As if she expected he had set the whole thing up. From the long speech, to the slamming door. It wouldn't surprise her. She'd seen worse.

Professor Grimm looked taken aback as Katrin's voice rose in anger, his mouth a small 'o' of surprise. It had been clear from the moment he saw the overcrowded house that things were not perfect here - he hadn't realised it was this bad, though. For her to be so mistrustful... the man frowned, running a hand through his scruffy locks.

"I'm sorry, Katrin," he said, his voice carefully casual, the smile back on his face - though a little more cautious, and not as wide, it was still very kind and genuine, "Of course, I should have wished you a happy birthday first of all! How thoughtless of me." He didn't comment on her other statements - the frequency of cruel jokes being played on her, the disbelief that something positive could be true... but he didn't forget them. He wouldn't; beneath the jovial mans' friendly, casual exterior, his blood boiled.

She should never have had to grow up like this! he thought angrily, though outwardly he showed no sign of it. But she's too young, yet, to know the truth.

Reaching into the pocket of his jeans, Caelin Grimm drew out a single pink carnation, its petals a little crumpled from his pocket. Crossing to the desk, he laid it down on the bare wood, then reached into his sleeve, drawing out his wand. He gave the wood a flourish, its end drawing a circle in the air above the flower; and before Katrin's eyes, it transformed.

Petals started to peel back, curling outward and over themselves, growing. The carnation spun slowly in place, continuing to swell until it was the size of Katrin's fist - then twice as big again, and again. Petals thickened and softened, surrounding the dome of the growing flower, concealing its' center as the flower whirled faster and faster...

Then the spinning slowed, and where the flower had been sat an elegant birthday cake, its' pink frosting layered from its' center in sweeping petal shapes. Eleven slender, dark green candles rose from its' surface, and with another flick of Professor Grimm's wand their tips burst into tiny flames.

"Happy Birthday, Katrin," Grimm's grin was back now; obviously pleased with his handiwork.

The girl shrugs as he apologizes. It didn't matter. No one here remembered anyway, why should she have expected him to? It wasn't the first missed birthday. It would not be the last.

She smiles weakly as he wishes her a happy birthday. Her hands rested on her lap, fidgeting. She watches as he pulls out a small flower, confused.

But then, the situation only got stranger. He pulled out a strange wooden stick. And began waving it around. Like he was some kind of Jedi or something. Stranger still, to her surprise, the flower began spinning. Her eyes grew wide, wider still, as she watched.

She didn't take her eyes off the flower. Not even blinking as she watches. Soon it stopped, disappearing as a cake remained in its place. She jumps, the movement causing her chair to move backwards a few inches. Surprised, as the candles lit on fire. She looks up at him, then back to the cake. Once more back to him, her eyes impossibly wide. She pushes her chair up to the desk, then reaches out cautiously. She reaches a finger out to one of the flames. Jerking back as she felt the heat. This doesn't cure her curiosity, however. As he says "Happy Birthday" she reaches for the cake again, this time poking at the frosting on the side.

She pulls her hand away again, staring at her finger, the frosting now on it. Then back to him as she cautiously tries it. "I-I've never had my own birthday cake before...." Certainly not one so big, either. Not as tasty.

She grins at him, her good humor returning. For the moment, deciding to trust him. Not completely. No, she'd learned that lesson a long time ago. "You said you were a professor? Where?" Deciding to hear him out. Hear his story.

She shakes her head at the absurdity of all of this. It was insane. It was. . . As if her Doctor really had come to take her away. Or, given his powers, maybe a Jedi Knight. Maybe, just maybe, she'd finally find someone who wanted her.

She turns her attention back to the cake curiously. "I don't have anything to eat it with... Ms Laura wouldn't let us in the kitchen for utensils either... " No, the kitchen was locked up tight. They were strict about that. Couldn't have the kids eating them out of house and home, after all! Still, this announcement didn't stop the girl from scooping up just a bit more of the frosting. Though, she was careful. Taking it from the very bottom, the edge. So it's absence wouldn't be noticed. Almost as if she were used to sneaking tastes of food. She grins again at the taste of the sweet pink frosting.

"No problem, I've got something here, I'm sure..." Opening the rather battered, soft-leather briefcase he'd set down to magic Katrin's cake, Grimm dipped his arm inside it; to the shoulder. He was an odd picture, rummaging around deep in the bottom of a bag that didn't look large enough to fit more than his hand.

"Ahh, here we go." He smiled, withdrawing a sheaf of pink napkins and a long, thin kitchen knife. The latter he offered hilt first to Katrin, the napkins he placed beside the cake, on the desk.

"Eat up! Yes, thanks, I'll have a piece too. We'll need our energy - lots to do today!"

At her querulous look, he chuckled. "I'm getting ahead of myself again, sorry, sorry! Right, yes, I'm a Professor.

Professor Caelin Grimm. I teach Charms; it's a delightful branch of Magic! Like your cake, that was a charm. Well, with a bit of Transfiguration thrown in, of course. But I'm rambling, you'll learn all about that at Hogwarts.

Hogwarts!" He beamed at the girl, settling into the rocking chair and lifting his arms into the air to emphasize the word. "Hogwarts is a school of Magic. The best school of Magic there is, if I do say so myself. And you..." he paused, leaning over to reach into his bag again. This time he withdrew a letter, the envelope made of a yellow-tinged parchment, sealed at the front with a red wax crest. He reached out, offering it to Katrin.

"You have been invited to attend. Over the next seven years, Hogwarts will teach you everything you could ever wish to know about your abilities, and the Wizarding World."

Professor Grimm paused again, his smile slipping into a serious expression.

"I can see... that you are not sure of your place in this world, Katrin. If I overstep my bounds by saying so, I apologise, but I think you have always felt that you do not belong - that you don't fit, perhaps. That's because you don't. You don't belong in the Muggle world... no more than I did, when I was a child, and still unaware that I was a Wizard. You belong at Hogwarts! You are a Witch, Katrin," his smile was back now as he repeated his initial message to her, and he leapt out of the seat, his jovial nature returning to the surface.

"So! We better get a move on, lots to do! We've got to get your schoolbooks, your cauldron, your wand..."

Katrin raises an eyebrow, watching him curiously as he reaches into the bag. "It's bigger on the inside?" She asks with a grin. Yes. He was definitely her Doctor. Come to steal her away. She smiles slightly at the thought.

She takes the offered knife gingerly. One hand held onto the desk, as if holding her up as she cut the cake. She grins when he said he'd like a piece, before she could even offer one. She cuts him a nice sized piece, then places it gently on the napkin. As he sits down in the chair, she places the napkin and cake slice on her lap, wheeling her way to him, and handing it over.

She listens quietly as he explains Hogwarts. Not completely understanding, but definitely interested. Curious. She returns to the desk, and cuts another, smaller, piece. Much smaller. As if portioning the cake out. It was a habit, more than intentional. She'd learned to make food last. You didn't always get meals. Even so, she scarfed down the small slice of cake. Clearly hungry. She looks back at the cake, as if debating another slice, or to save it.

Her attention then returns to Grimm as he held out the letter. She once more wheels over to him, taking the letter. She opens it up gently, carefully. Reading it. Once she had, she carefully folds it back up.

She turns slightly in her chair, one hand on a wheel, the other on the back cushion, using her arms to shift. She leans over the backing, to unzip a pocket in the backpack there. She gently puts the letter in there for safe keeping. She zips up the pocket, then sits up. Though doesn't yet right herself.

She looks up at him as he begins to talk again. Her eyes once more wide as she fights back tears. "I don't belong anywhere. I'm too much trouble. A burden." She says it softly. Still, there was no doubt to her words. She shakes her head. "You don't want me at your school. It's more trouble than it's worth." She looks down at her hands resting on her lap. One elbow casually propped against the back of her chair, holding her up.

She looks up as he says they had a lot to do, a lot to buy. "I-i don't have any money. . . " It was something she was reminded of daily. Her parents had left her with nothing.

"You don't want me at your school. It's more trouble than it's worth."

Professor Grimm had paused his energetic babble to eat the piece of cake Katrin had given him, but at these words he stopped, swallowing his mouthful. He looked serious again, though this was marred slightly by the dab of pink frosting clinging to the corner of his mouth.

"Now, I won't have that sort of talk! And don't worry about money, that's all taken care of. What, you think we leave magical children without funds just to fumble through on their own?! Preposterous. No, no, we've got budget for that at Hogwarts, you won't have to worry about a thing. And Katrin..."

He paused again. For all his compassion, the Professor didn't seem entirely confident when it came to more serious conversation; perhaps he preferred the comfortability of a grin or a joke. "I meant it when I said that you're capable of extraordinary things," he said finally, looking her in the eye. "Things these Muggles could never dream of accomplishing will be as easy as the flick of a wand for you. A burden! Ha.." Grim chuckled, but there was a tinge of sadness in it. "You won't be a burden. You won't want for anything! You'll be a force to be reckoned with!"

He smiled again, ending the impromptu speech. "But I can't expect you to take this all in in a few moments. You can discover it all for yourself. For now, I think we should worry about getting your things! It is your birthday, after all - you can think of them as presents."

A third time, he reached into the bag. This time, he withdrew a shabby black left sneaker, mercifully moving the cake out of the way before placing it, too, atop the desk.

"Portus," he said clearly, twirling his wand in a small figure-eight above the shoe.

"This will take us to Diagon Alley - we'll be able to get everything you need there," he said. "Just lay your hand on it - a finger is enough. And hold onto your chair, it will come with us too."

Perhaps sensing her hesitation, he paused in his instructions. "How about this - you don't have to decide yet. Just come along, at least take a peek at your new world, before you decide it isn't for you. Alright? At the very least, you get an interesting day out for your birthday."

Katrin's rumbling stomach had finally convinced her she should eat more of the cake. And so, after she finished telling him she was too much trouble, she had cut herself another slice. This one slightly bigger, though still small. She ate it slowly as he spoke, not quite looking up at him. Not sure she believed him.

She gives a small, sad smile, as he talks. She could tell he was much more comfortable with jokes than seriousness. But then he would be, her Doctor.

She wipes away at her tears. Watching curiously as he took an old shoe out of the bag. "Just like that? You can just... Whisk me away? Show different worlds?" She smiles again. Still small, but genuine.

She places her hands on her wheels, pushing up and shifting, she rights herself once more. Then nods. "I-I have to get a few things first..."

While her backpack always held a small amount of medical supplies, it wasn't quite enough. Not for a trip away. She'd been caught without them before, and those memories were burned into her mind. And so, she goes over to the dresser, opening up one of the drawers. She pulls her backpack off her chair, and begins filling it with all manners of supplies. The uses for these, unclear. Though, with a bit of thought, some of them would be able to be discerned. Once satisfied, she closes the drawer.

She makes her way back to the desk, and opens another drawer. This one was filled with different bottles of prescription medicine. Some liquid, some pills. These she scoops up and dumps in the bag as well. She glanced at a clock on a wall. Then, grabbing one of the bottles, she opens it and takes one of the pills inside. Then replaces it in the bag. She puts the medicine in her mouth, then swings the bag back onto her chair. This whole thing taking no more than five minutes. "Ok. . . I'm ready, Doctor." She smirked at this comment.

She places her hand on the shoe, gripping it tightly. Her other hand gripping the wheel of her chair just as tightly. Her eyes closed, she nods once.

"Very good," Caelin's smile was firmly back in place now that Katrin seemed to be happier. "Away we go, then!"

Tucking his wand back into his sleeve, Professor Grimm picked up his bag in one hand, reaching out with the other to touch the battered sneaker.

The feeling was instantaneous - a tugging sensation at each of their navels, pulling forward as if they were being sucked, bellybutton first, through a straw. The world spun wildly into a blur of flashing colours; mostly pink, at first, as the decor of Katrins' room whirled around them; then replaced with greys, browns, and greens as the spinning slowed. The wheels of Katrins' chair reconnected with the ground with a thump, and the world righted itself around them, tall buldings' bordering the clear blue sky above, and a buzzing babble in their ears turning into the chatter and laughter of the many shoppers' who traversed the street around them. Katrin had probably never seen so many odd-looking people in one place; while some people looked comfortable in their muggle attire, just as many wore long, billowing robes, pointed hats, capes and tassles, oiled cloaks. Owls swooped through the air above, in broad daylight, and if Katrin looked closely, she would notice that they clutched various items in their talons; letters, newspapers and packages. The gaudy signs that decorated the shopfronts were no less strange than those perusing them - "Angeliques' Antiques and Oddities,' said one, a rather delapidated building with huge, glass windows through which Katrin could see a number of peculiar items displayed. "The Magical Menagerie," another said; the front of the shop crowded with hatstands, from which hung cages housing an array of birds - from owls to toucans to a regal Phoenix which, as Katrin watched, burst into glorious flame. It burned down until there was nothing but a pile of ash in the bottom of the cage, from which the peeping head of a chick burst forth, calling out hungrily.

"Welcome," Caelin grinned, holding his arms out to gesture at the sights before her, "to Diagon Alley! Now, we've lots to get - but I think we should start with a wand, don't you? Ollivanders," he gestured to a large, plain shopfront, it's windows hung with thick curtains either side of it's wooden double-doors.

"That's the place to go for wands! Ollivander jr. runs it now, but his father was the best wandmaker there ever was, and he taught him everything he knows."

Katrin barely had a moment to gasp in surprise, and suddenly, they were somewhere else. Her chair landed with a resounding thump, throwing her almost halfway out of it. Thankful she had already been holding onto one wheel, she pulls herself back. She blinks a few times, looking around in wonder. She grins, seeing those in Robes and Cloaks. "I was wrong!" She says with a grin, looking up at him. "Not TimeLord at all! YOU'RE A JEDI!" She laughs, knowing she made absolutely no sense to the Professor.

She continues to look around as he points towards the wand shop. Her eyes once more wide, she looks up at him. "Y-you mean, I get one too?!" Her already excitable voice even more excited. Before he could stop her, she was practically running down the cobbled road. Not even minding in the least the way it caused her to bounce uncomfortably in the chair. Nor the fact she was once more only half way on the seat when she finally stopped.

She looks up at the sign on the door curiously. The old building strange, but enchanting to the young girl's imagination. She rights herself once more, then reaches out, pushing on the door. One hand holding the door, her other pushing her chair forward, she slowly, cautiously, makes her way inside.

What met her inside, made her eyes wide even more as she looked around. Walls and walls of thing long boxes. All of which she could only imagine were wands. And she was here to get one. She'd never gotten anything brand new before. Let alone something so unique, something so special! This really was turning into a very good birthday indeed.

Still, something was bothering the girl. She looks up as Grimm comes in, worry in her young eyes. "T-this place looks expensive. .. . Professor." She said in a hushed voice. It had not left her mind, that they would be using money from the school. "M-maybe we should go to another shop. . ." He had said this was the best, not that this was the only. Surely there were cheaper wands. She wasn't one to need the best of everything. Going from family to family had cured her of that. She'd learned to count every penny. And not to ask for more.

G
02-22-2017, 01:27 AM
"Time Lord? No man is Lord over time, Katrin!" Professor Grimm admonished, but the girl was already off, lost in the excitement of seeing her new world for the first time. Grimm smiled, watching her rush to the shop. He remembered that feeling, the thrill of seeing all of this through virgin eyes.

"Oh, don't worry about that!" he said, "think of it as an investment. Your wand will be your companion for the rest of your life, after all. And it's not as though you can just choose a cheap one, after all..."

"That's right." A voice sounded from the shadows, and its' speaker stepped forwards. Those who'd known his father would know that Ollivander jr. was his spitting image - albeit a younger one. "The wand chooses the Wizard... or Witch, in this case." Ollivander smiled at the child, his thin lips stretched wide across his pale face. "So, which wand will choose this Witch? Hmmm."

He approached Katrin, peering at her in a way that suggested he was seeing more than just her physical body. "Hmmm. You might be a tricky one to match. But there is a wand in here for you, yes... but which one?"

He crossed to one of the shelves, his fingers flickering between boxes until they settled on one.

"Let's try this. Oak and Minotaur Heartstring." Opening the box, he offered it to her, inviting her to pick up the slender, dark length of wood inside.

She only barely heard him protest about her calling him a Time Lord. She just shakes her head, already too far to answer him.

She continues to watch him, as he explained it would be ok. That the wand would be with her for a long time. And then, the newcomer echoed his thoughts. She looks up at this newest person. "You mean, like a TARDIS?!" She asks him with wide eyes, and a grin. "the TARDIS chose the Doctor too! She stole him. She stole her own Time Lord." She watches him, as he looks her over. Her eyes seeming to look into the Wandmaker's very soul. "I'm Katrin Edlund!" She said, puffing out her chest with pride. The name didn't mean anything. Not to her. There was nothing special to it. Still, if you spoke a name with authority, it would get people's attention. They would think you were some important person. They would treat you different. Better. It had worked quite a few times, on quite a few case workers. Little did she know, the Wandmaker would know her name. Know more about her than she did.

She watches him curiously, as he went to retrieve a wand. As he brought it back. She looks up at him, then to Professor Grimm, then back to the wand. She did this a second time, before finally, cautiously, reaching for the wand. She picks it up, staring at it. Then looking at Olivander, as if unsure what to do. She remembers how Professor Grimm used his. And so, her curiosity getting the best of her as usual, she gives it a small flick.

. . . . .And that, that exact moment, was when several lights broke. Burst in a shower of light, sparks, and glass. Her eyes go wide, and she puts the wand back. "I-I'm sorry. . . I didn't mean. . . . " Her voice quivering. Scared. She had broken the lights in this very very expensive shop. This was not good at all. She was about to be in a lot of trouble.

G

"Ah, no, no. Not that one, then," Ollivander said as he reached out to hurriedly snatch the wand from Katrin's grasp. "That's quite alright, not to worry! We'll find it."

Returning the box to the shelf, he crossed to the other side of the room and started rifling through boxes there, seemingly unconcerned with the shattered glass that littered the floor. Indeed, as he searched, the tiny shards were already skittering toward each other on the floor, reattaching when they found the piece they belonged beside.

"Don't worry, Katrin." Grimm said, looking amused at her horrified reaction, "it's quite normal. I started a fire, when I was looking for mine."

Ollivander was returning, holding another slender box. He brushed away the dust that layered it's surface, opening it and offering it to Katrin.

"Walnut and Phoenix Feather. Rather bendy, this one."

HaelKatrin

She watches Ollivander take back the wand and to to look for another. Not at all concerned. She looks up at Grimm, as if for reassurance, as he says it was all right. "A fire?" She asks curiously, surprised.

She looks at the latest wand. The top of the box dusty. She looks up at Ollivander for a moment. Not at all wanting to try another one. Still, she picks it up. And gives it a flick.

. . . This time, it was as if a small explosion took place. Boxes and boxes of wands being thrown off the shelves. Pieces of the shelving flying around the room. She sucks one particular piece, dropping the wand back in its box. "I-I don't think this is working...." She said, still nervous.

G
02-23-2017, 02:59 AM
"Oh my!" Ollivander jumped at the crashing boxes, looking a tad less unconcerned than before. "It's alright child, it will all right itself... eventually." She could see it was true - the glass from the broken lights was starting to form larger, unblemished pieces on the floor, though the process seemed to take some time. Grimm was laughing now.

"Yep!" he said, confirming the fire with a rather proud note in his voice. "I went through thirteen wands, before I found mine." He looked at his own wand fondly, "but I found it! Or, it found me. You'll find the one that's right for you, too. Why don't you pick then next one out, go on," he said encouragingly, smiling.

HaelKatrin
02-23-2017, 03:30 AM
She looks at Ollivander, and then to the reforming glass. Feeling slightly better about the whole thing. Though, still worried.

She laughs at Professor Grimm's pride. "Thirteen wands?!" She exclaims in disbelief. "I-i don't think there will be a shop left... If we did that..."

Her eyes grow wide as he suggests she pick one next. She shakes her head adamantly. "I don't think that's a good idea. . . ." Still, at their prodding, she sighs. She rights herself in her chair once more and looks around. She slowly wheels her way towards the back, her eyes wide as she looks around. Clearly not watching exactly where she was going.

CRASH

She had run head first into another set of shelves. Shelves, boxes, and one very confused little girl, go flying. Her chair shoots backwards and flips over.

Lying on her stomach from the fall, she quickly pushes up with her arms. Sitting sideways among the fallen shelves and wands. She looks up sheepishly at Grimm. The whole scene rather comical. ". . Oops?"

Still, they had said to find a wand. What better way than on the floor with a pile of them? And so, she doesn't even think of asking for help back up. Instead, she looks around her.

And that, is precisely, when she saw it.

A bright pink box.

Laying untouched right in front of her. As if someone had carefully placed it there. It was beat up, dusty. Old. As if it had scene a great many years, and little hands. Lonely, forgotten and put out of sight.

Just like me. She thought to herself, looking at it.

She leans forward, and carefully picks up the box. She opens it slowly. As if it were a great thing. Inside, was an equally bright pink wand. Though this was more metallic than the box. Not a childish color. But, one any grown woman would be proud to use. She grins and picks it up.

She gives it a gentle flick. Watching it carefully.

Several things happened all at once. Mysterious and enchanting. Confusing to those who did not quite understand. But she did. Oh, did she.

First, there was a sound. A wheezing, groaning sound. And the sound of wings rustling. Great big wings.

Light, bright light, shown all around her. It pulsed, as if with its own life.

And, suddenly, she was floating through the air. Her eyes never leaving the wand in her hand. She came to a gentle stop, right back in her chair.

She looks up, wide eyed, at the two adults. Her voice barely a whisper as she looks at Grimm. "my Doctor, come to take me away?" Yes. This was her wand. The sound of Angels, and The TARDIS.

"Thirteen wands?" Katrin said, and Ollivander nodded confirmation, giving Professor Grimm a wry look.

"He certainly did. I remember that day, believe me. The singe marks ruined my best cloak." His voice was admonishing, but not unfriendly; like a mother scolding a child for running their pencil off the paper and marking the floor. His eyes followed Katrin's path across the room as she excitedly made her way across to the shelves. To his credit, he scarcely reacted when she made a further mess of the room, dodging a box that was flung in his direction with the ease of someone who had done so many times before.

"Katrin!" Grimm wasn't quite so unaffected, stepping quickly toward the girl as she tumbled from her chair, his arm outstretched as though attempting to catch her, though he was obviously too far away. "Be careful! Merlins' beard, girl, you..." he stopped, his concerned look quickly giving way to a wide grin as she was lifted back to her chair, the warm glow in the air confirming what the unintentional magic did - she had found it.

"Ha!" he clapped his hands, striding over to see the wand that had chosen his charge, "what did I tell you?! What's this one, Ollivander?"

"Ahh, let me see; what do we have here?" Ollivander was coming over too, and before Katrin could protest he had plucked the wand from her fingers, twirling it between his own as he held it up to the light, his eyes squinting as he studied it. "Interesting, very interesting. I was beginning to wonder if this one would ever find it's Witch. You don't mind the colour?" he asked Katrin, though it seemed the question was rhetorical - he didn't wait for an answer before continuing. "Willow and Phoenix feather - I remember the bird well. I gather all the ingredients for my wands myself, you know," this was directed at the girl, a note of pride in the wandmakers' voice.

"Yes, it was a strange creature. Certainly didn't want to give up it's feathers, though few of them do," he chuckled. "But this one followed me all the way back here. I didn't realise it, of course; Phoenix's are wily creatures, as much as they are beautiful. As I was carving the willow, it came flapping straight through my window! Scared me half to death, and knocked the wand right from my hand - right into my store of powdered pixie dust! It wouldn't have mattered, if I hadn't been halfway through the spell to bind the properties of the feather and the wood. So, it absorbed some of the properties of the dust as well, of course; and the container it was stored in. It's quite safe!" he reassured the Professor, who was looking rather skeptically at the wand, "it didn't affect the wands' magic - just it's colour, see."

He held it up to the light, so that Caelin could see the metallic, pink sheen of the wands' surface.

"You don't mind, do you, child?" Ollivander asked, though it seemed he knew the answer. He was already holding out the wand for the girl to reclaim.

"Well, if they're right for each other, they're right," Grimm acquiesced, reaching into his unnaturally deep briefcase and retrieving a small brown sack whose contents clinked as he rifled through it. "Here you are," he passed the wandmaker some golden coins, unfamiliar to Katrin. When he saw her looking, he smiled again.

"Ah, of course. You haven't seen Wizard money - I'd almost forgotten that silly paper stuff that Muggles use. Come on, I'll teach you how it works on our way to get your books."

And with that, he was striding toward the door, seemingly content to leave Ollivander amongst the half demolished shop.

She breaks into a grin as Grimm began to not only only look concerned, but also scold her. "I'm fine!" She exclaims as she rights herself in the chair.

She doesn't protest when Ollivander took the wand from her, but she didn't look happy about it either. An almost sad expression. She shakes her head rapidly as he asks if she liked the color. "It's perfect! A pixie? What's a pixie?!" She asks curiously. She snatches the wand back excitedly as Ollivander hands it back.

She looks at the strange bag curiously, and the sounds it made. Then, Professor Grimm handed the wand maker a few gold pieces and Katrin's eyes widened. "I-I've never seen that much gold before... Is it real gold?!"

She gives the shop one more curious look, before following after Grimm. The wand's box, she had put in her backpack. As for the wand itself, the very tip of it stuck out from where she'd placed it under her left leg.

Grimm chuckled at Katrin's obvious excitement.

"A pixie is.. well, you'll learn all about that when you get to Hogwarts. Pesky little blighters, though, I'll tell you that much! And yes, it's real gold," he confirmed, walking at an easy pace beside her chair as they left the shop, continuing along the busy street. "Forged by Goblins! They run the Wizards' bank; Gringotts. You can see it, up there, look." He pointed up the laneway, where between the haphazard array of shops a large, white building could be seen at the end.

"This," he withdrew a large round gold coin from the sack, handing it to Katrin for inspection, "is a Galleon. This..." he rummaged through the sack a little, pulling out two coins; he handed her the first, a silver disc, slightly smaller than the gold. "Is a Sickle, and this one," he handed her the last piece, a small, bronze coin with five corners. "Is a Knut. Twenty-nine Knuts make a Sickle, and seventeen Sickle's make a Galleon. Keep them," he said, waving away the girls hand when she tried to give back the coins. "You can memorise the currency - we don't use Muggle money in the Wizarding world."

The Professor turned abruptly, pointing to a shop with a large sign that pronounced it 'Flourish and Blotts.'

"Here we are - we can get all your schoolbooks here."

She grins when he says she'd learn about them at Hogwarts. There was so many interesting things to learn about. She couldn't wait. "Do I get to keep them?!" She asked about the school books. She had every intention of practically memorizing them. Something she'd learned to do at a young age. After all, books could be taken away, ripped up. But, if you remembered them, you'd always have the stories.

She takes the offered coins, stopping and looking at them curiously. "I've never had real gold before. . ." She said, her eyes wide in amazement at them. Growing even bigger when he said she could keep them. These, too, joined the wand box and letter in her backpack, before continuing on their way to the book store. "What are goblins?" She asks curiously.

She grins when they get to the newest shop, though this time deciding to let him open the door for her. These doors were quite heavy, compared to the muggle doors. But then, considering how old the buildings were, she wasn't surprised.

Grimm shouldered a path through the parents and children streaming in and out of the bookshop, holding the door wide so that Katrin could make her way past.

"Alright," he said as they entered the shop; a small building in which every wall was lined with shelves stuffed with books. Stands stood in the center of the floor, too; displaying the latest bestsellers and titles from upcoming authors. Portraits of Authors and photographs on the covers followed their movements; some waving merrily, some sullen and brooding, depending on the book - all of them were animated; alive. "Let me see that letter, have you got it? I know what you need for Charms, of course!" he grinned. "Let's get these out of the way quick; we've still got your cauldron to buy, then we have to get you fitted for robes." The Professor's stomach growled loudly - the piece of cake he'd eaten was hardly lunch, and Caelin Grimm was not one to miss a meal. "And I'm starving! We'll have to stop for some lunch before we go."

When Katrin produced the list, he proved his eagerness to get to mealtime with his quick movements, fingers sliding over the spines of the works on the shelves until he found the right ones, pulling them from the shelves until he held quite a stack of titles. "Perfect!" he said; "Let's get this paid for, then we can get your robes." Again, the sack came out; again, he passed over gold and silver to the shopkeeper; the books he tucked under his arm, not wanting to overload Katrin with things to hold.

Katrin laughs as his stumach growled, though honestly, she was in the same boat. Rather hungry. However, for the moment, her attention was captured by the moving pictures. To the point she would reach out, poking one of them curiously. It wasn't long before they had finished getting all the books needed. Once more, she felt a bit guilty, knowing they couldn't have been cheap. But, this time, she doesn't say anything.

She follows him out of the book store, curious as to the next stop. "Robes? You mean, I get new clothes?!" She asked excited. She'd never gotten brand new clothes before. Let alone fitted for them! This would be a real treat for her. Her eyes lit with excitement.

G

Caelin chuckled as her eyes lit up, shaking his head a little. "I can't wait to see your reaction when you start learning actual magic; if robes are this exciting!" he laughed; though of course, he knew the feeling. To live out your childhood in the mundane Muggle world (though admittedly, with the advances of the last few decades it was becoming less and less so) only to discover you really belonged in the Magical one; where anything and everything was possible. A nostalgic smile crossed his face as he remembered his own first trip to Diagon Alley, eagerly tugging the hands of his bewildered parents, all of them experiencing this new and wondrous world together... Grimm's smile faded slightly, a tinge of sadness marring the happy memory. Katrin didn't have her parents here; never had. She might have had a very different childhood, otherwise... he shook his head almost imperceptibly, shaking off the thought. It wasn't the time... and she had him, after all.

She will, from now on. I left her alone for far too long. One day, I'll tell her... But not now. Not yet.

"Here it is! This one," he announced, his bright voice betraying none of his inner dialogue as he pushed open the door of yet another peculiar building. "Madam Malkins," this one read, though Grimm wasn't sure who ran it now. A bubbly shop assistant was quick to greet them as they entered, rushing forwards to fix them with a beaming smile.

"Hello! Welcome to Madam Malkins, your one-stop shop for the latest Wizard-wear! I'm Rosetta! Ooh, hello, pet! Wanting some school robes, I bet?" Grimm nodded confirmation, and the woman beamed at Katrin, pulling a length of tape-measure from where it was tucked between her ear and her masses of bright pink curls . "Wonderful! Now, I'll need to take some measurements. Do you mind if I pop you out of your chair for a moment, my love?"

"Well, I-Ive never had new clothes before...." She repeated her thought aloud in reply. "Certainly not ones made just for me!" She didn't seem too bothered or upset by this statement. Simply just a fact. "And after, lunch? Right?!" She asks with a grin.

She follows him into the store, looking around wide eyed. She then looks at the newest witch with curiosity. "Y-you're gonna what??" She looks baffled, looking up at Grimm, then back to the woman. "I suppose Professor Grimm would be strong enough... " Immediately coming to the conclusion the strange woman intended to physically lift her out of the chair. Even with the suggestion of Grimm doing so, it had her nervous. She was told often how heavy she was. How much it hurt to pick her up. "I-i wouldn't want anyone to get hurt...."

She fidgets a bit, looking between the two of them then shrugs, nodding. "Alright." She says with a half smile. Of course, the woman would have a hard time measuring her sitting down, after all. And, she did need the robes. If the school had a uniform.

G

"Wonderful!" the woman beamed, pulling her wand from where it had been tucked inside her sleeve. Before Katrin had time to react or protest, she was waving it airily in front of her. "Wingardium Leviosa!" she chanted clearly, and the young blonde found herself lifting from her seat, floating, as though weightless, into the air. Grimm looked bemused, raising his hand as though wondering if he should protest; but Katrin had given her assent. He hesitated, then lowered his arm.

Katrin, meanwhile, floated gently forwards, coming to a halt a foot in front of her pink seat, her toes a few inches above the floor. Rosetta tucked the wand behind her ear; where the tape had been, then held up the small length of measure; it was only a few centimetres long, and yet, as she held it up to measure the width of Katrins' shoulders, it was suddenly long enough to reach between them. Letting go of the tape, which stayed suspended in front of Katrin as though it was still being held, Rosetta produced a feather quill and scroll of parchment; again, from amongst her mass of curls. Grimm threw Katrin an amused look, wiggling his eyebrows as if silently saying What else has she got stashed in there? The Witch made a note on the paper, and the tape measure flew through the air, methodically moving around Katrin's body as it measured her waist, the length of her arms, hip to knee, knee to ankle, neck, and for some reason, the bridge of her nose. Rosetta hummed as she worked, jotting down notes as the measure moved.

"Wonderful!" she clapped her hands when the tape measure seemed to be done, holding out her hand. It flung itself over to rest in her palm, back to its original size, and it, along with the quill, disappeared back into her pink locks. Retrieving her wand, she swished it again, and Katrin was returned gently to her seat.

"Now, where would you like them delivered?"

Grimm interjected before Katrin could say anything, "114 Nerbott Avenue, London. Thanks." As if preempting that Katrin might be disappointed she couldn't take them now, he turned to the child, saying, "they'll make them specially; they won't take long to arrive."

Katrin yelps in protest as she suddenly finds herself hovering in the air. Her eyes wide, she glances over at Professor Grimm. Gauging his reaction. Seeing that he seemed calm, she took a breath as well. Relaxing and letting the woman do her work. She smirks as things started coming out of her hair. Outright laughing at Grimm's own reaction.

The most comical part about it, was the girl's chair. Now that she was no longer seated, one could see the objects she had squirreled away. Her wand lay on the front left hand corner. Under it, was the folded up letter. On the right side, were the strange coins Professor Grimm had given her. Each had been placed under her leg. To keep it safe, and not have to worry about it falling.

Katrin resituates herself once returned to her seat. Her face falls at the mention of where to deliver it. A reminder that this trip wasn't permanent. She'd be returned to that home as soon as it was over. And, the day was ending quickly. "Um. . . " She began to tell her address, when Grimm interrupted with his own. She looks up at him. "I suppose you could bring them for me. . . " This, too, saddened her. She didn't want to give up any of the treasures they were getting today. Not even for a few months until school started. Things she let other people watch over, tended to disappear, or be returned ruined. Besides, she wanted to keep them with her. A reminder that this was not a dream.

"I suppose you could bring them for me. . .

Grimm just smiled at the child, not willing to divulge his final surprise yet. He thanked the shopkeeper again, holding the door for Katrin as they made their way back out into the street. "Now, one more stop!" he said, "and then lunch!" The mention of food, as usual, filled him with enthusiasm; his pace was lively as they continued along the street, back the way they had come. He gave no indication of what they would be picking up next, just kept going back past shopfronts, until finally they came to one of the first sights Katrin had seen. It was the pet shop, hung with its' array of cages. The Phoenix that had erupted into flame at their arrival was perched back on it's swing now, preening its' soft, downy feathers; across from it, two barn-owls chattered at each other in their adjacent cages. A purely ash-grey cat, huge and extremely fluffy, wound its' way around Grimms' legs, crossing to rub against the wheel of Katrin's chair.

"I said I had a surprise for you, didn't I? We can't have you sent off to school without a pet! Owls are incredibly useful; they'll deliver your mail, though of course the school has it's own owls. And cats make wonderful, loving pets. Wait till you meet Charles, my kitten. You'll love him, he's a cheeky little blighter. Let's have a look, see who you get along with."

The promise of food also cheered the girl up immensely. She grins and follows him. "What are we getting next?!" She asks curiously, half not expecting a reply. Still, she follows him. Excited to see.

They end up headed back the way they came. Katrin keeps quiet, following until they stopped at a pet store. Her eyes wide when she sees the Phoenix. "B-but... I saw it explode!" She says with her usual excitement. She then follows in to the store, looking around. "you mean, I get my own pet?!"

G

"Phoenix's are wonderful animals," Caelin said, smiling at Katrin's wide-eyed expression. "When they die, they are engulfed in flame, burned to ash. Then they're reborn from the ashes. They're really quite beautiful, when they're not at the end of their cycle. Very magical, as well. Phoenix tears have healing powers, though they'll only cry over those who are pure of heart. Now, what kind of pet do you fancy? What about this little guy?" he said, picking up a small mewling kitten, jet-black with wide, startlingly blue eyes. It yowled at Grimm, digging it's claws into his hand and he put it down hurriedly. "Hmmm, maybe someone a bit friendlier. Let's see..."

As he spoke, a small, wet nose nudged Katrin's hand. At her feet, a tiny puppy was attempting to clamber right up onto her chair, his back legs slipping on the floor as he reached up to place his front paws on the seat, beside her leg. His tail wagged excitedly as he sniffed her hand, and out popped his tongue to give her an enthusiastic lick on the finger. Grimm hadn't noticed, scanning the room for potential pets.

Katrin holds her arms out for the offered kitten, but doesn't get a chance as it begins clawing poor Professor Grimm. She laughs at the scene.

She watches him look around, deciding it best if she stayed where she was. She didn't notice as the small pup began nudging at her foot. Perhaps sensing this, or simply impatient, the small animal began trying to climb up. Her front paws sitting on the edge of the cushion.

Katrin giggles at this, holding out a hand for her to sniff. "And who are you?" She asked the curious pup. The dog simply licks her offered hand, then manages to jump the rest of the way into her lap.

Once standing on Katrin's lap, the puppy Gabe her a few excited licks, then curled up on her lap and went to sleep.

Katrin laughs again, and looks around for Professor Grimm, to show him. Though, she knew she wouldn't be able to keep the animal. After all, the letter said owl, cat or toad. A dog was neither.

G

"Well, hello! Whose this then?" Grimm had turned to point out a tiny owl the size of his fist; fluttering in excited circles in its' cage, and spotted the pup. He returned to Katrins' side, reaching down to scratch the sleeping dog between it's furry ears. "Looks like someone has picked you, Katrin." He frowned down at the dog for a moment, thinking.

"You know, it's only a small thing. Perhaps I could convince them to let you have a dog - it's not as though the cat, owl or toad thing is set in stone, it would hardly be the first pet outside of those boundaries...

But are you sure you wouldn't prefer an owl, or a cat? That's what most other kids will have."

HaelKatrin
03-14-2017, 04:09 AM
Katrin grins "I dunno. But, she seems to be comfy!" She replies when he asks who it was. She laughs again when he said the dog picked her, nodding in agreement.

She pets the pup's back. She wakes up, yawning and sleepily looking up at Grimm. As if almost daring him to move her. Then, licks his hand. Katrin laughs at this. "I'm sure!" She says with a grin. "I've never liked cats...." She admits.

She looks down at the little puppy, then back up at Grimm. "Are you sure it'll be ok?" Her eyes big with worry once more.

G
03-15-2017, 01:47 AM
Grimm looked rather taken aback at Katrins' statement about disliking cats, but didn't mention it. The man frowned, considering; a finger stroking the coarse hair of his short beard.

"Well, I don't think the school will be a problem; but a dog is a lot of responsibility, Katrin," he sounded for all the world like a stern parent; the tone seemed a bit out of place on him, but to his credit, he was giving it a good go all the same. "You will have to feed it, train it. Clean up after it, if it makes a mess! And she will! Dogs are messy."

The dog flicked a wet tongue affectionately over Grimms' hand, and he visibly softened. "But they're smart too - with a bit of training, she'd be a very helpful pet. And she is very sweet, isn't she? Oh, well.. if you're sure you can handle all of that, then alright. You can have her."

HaelKatrin
03-16-2017, 02:17 AM
She can't help the small laugh that escapes when he once more attempts to be stern. Though, she'd have to admit, he did a much better job of it this time.

She quickly sobers as he tells her the pup would be her responsibility. She looks down at her, thinking. The puppy took this moment to jump up and lick Katrin's nose. She giggles, petting her. Then looks up at Grimm.

"I've never had to take care of something before..." She said thoughtfully. "But, I'd like to give it a try." She finished with a smile.

G
03-29-2017, 05:09 AM
The puppy, seeming to have made her own decision regardless of what the humans' might think, walked a couple of quick circles in Katrin's lap before curling up there, giving her hand a gentle lick and promptly falling asleep.

"I'd like to give it a try." Katrin said, and Grimm, watching the dog, grinned.

"Well, that's lucky, because it doesn't look like she's going anywhere." He paid for the pup, and the three of them left the shop. A little way down the street, they found a bright, bustling cafe, and offered a menu to Katrin, telling her to order whatever she liked from the smiling girl that came to take their order. For the pup, he asked for a bowl of bite-sized pieces of juicy steak. He himself ordered a burger piled so high with fillings it seemed impossible he'd even be able to take a bite, with a pile of fries to go with it. Demolishing the mound of food in a surprisingly small period of time, he pulled a handkerchief from his bottomless bag, wiping the crumbs from his beard.

"Ahh," he sighed contentedly, leaning back in his chair; his hands on his belly. "That's better. Now; I suppose we better get you home. It's been quite a long day, after all."

Katrin follows Grimm as they leave the shop. This time, rather quiet.

Once they sat at a table in the Cafe, she looked at the menu carefully. She knew he said order whatever, but that didn't stop her from checking prices first. Finally, she settled on one of the cheaper items. A grilled cheese half, and soup.

She laughs as Grimm takes a bite of the giant hamburger. The puppy was oblivious to the two as she munched happily on her own snack. Katrin ate slowly. Savoring each bite.

She finished rather quickly. Her grin fading the moment the professor commented about taking taking her home. "You'll have to take the puppy.... They won't let me have my own pet." She said, offering a clearly fake smile. Trying to hide the disappointment at the day having ended already. "Thank you. For everything" offering him another, more genuine smile. Even if she had to go back, she really was grateful.

"You'll have to take the puppy... they won't let me have my own pet."

Far from looking upset at the crestfallen look in Katrin's eyes, Grimm answered it with a wide smile.

"Oh, child. I suppose I should have made things clearer this morning. I am your Uncle, remember?" His hands swept up to make inverterted commas in the air, emphasizing the word 'uncle.' "They can do whatever they like - your puppy is very welcome in my home. Or should I say, our home." His grin stretched even wider as he reached into his bag, withdrawing the portkey once more. He gestured, clearly expecting her to remember how it worked; and when they placed their fingers on it, once more the tugging sensation began at each of their navels, whizzing them into a world of blurred sound and colour, until they were deposited in a quiet suburban street in the outskirts of London. Cozy looking cottages lined the road, which was almost free of traffic, and the lone Muggle, watering her garden a few doors down, seemed blissfully unaware that two people and a dog had simply appeared out of nowhere. Striding forward toward a border of green hedges, Caelin pushed open a gate painted a cheerful shade of bright blue. Beyond, a small, rather ramshackle brick house; wide windows taking up most of the wallspace either side of the front door. The grass was clipped neatly in front; the back (though Katrin could not see it) was a wild assortment of strange plants, some of which didn't look entirely fitting in the Muggle world. Inside, she would find a room waiting for her; as though it had been made ready for her arrival - she didn't catch Grimm's quick charm-work, transforming the colour scheme to one he surmised Katrin would like; predominantly pink.

"I'm afraid Muggle technology doesn't work so well in the house - too much Magic in the air. The neighbours are probably terribly offended by their television reception," he laughed, "but you should find most everything you need - if I've forgotten anything, let me know. As I said, the dog is your responsibility - I don't want to step in any droppings, first thing in the morning! Now..." with a subtle flick of his wand, the front door swung wide, a ramp leading up to the entrance in a gentle slope.

"Welcome to your new home, Katrin."

"Oh, child, I suppose I should have made things clearer this morning. I am your Uncle, remember? They can do whatever they like - your puppy is very welcome in my home. Or, should I say, our home."

She listens to him in absolute confusion. She didn't understand what he meant. After all, even if he was her uncle, he couldn't make her foster parents let her keep the puppy. Her face fell even more as he pulled out the portkey. Her eyes glistening with tears unshed. It was time to return home.

She obediently places her hand on the shoe, being sure to have a hold of both the wheelchair and the puppy. The whole trip much like the first time, except this time it did not leave her quite so disoriented. In fact, it was rather fun. Like a rollercoaster. The puppy shakes it's head a few times, not at all impressed. This causes Katrin to laugh, though the smile didn't quite reach her eyes.

That is, until she actually looked around them.

She grins, grinning wider as she follows him to the home. Understanding finally. He wasn't taking her back. She wouldn't have to ever go back again.

She didn't seem to quite hear him as he explained about the technology. As soon as the ramp appeared, she wasted no time at all going up it, and into the home. As soon as he joined her, she wrapped her arms around him, giving him quite the hug. Tears spilled from her eyes, but this time, her face held a grin.
