My worry with passeording them is that it makes them even more like c/g. I'd rather not blur the lines too much, and the password sections make c/g kinda special.

I don't think balance will be an issue as long as players staytrue to their characters. If the player truly wants to "be spiderman", they can't change too much, otherwise you might as well be an OC with spidey's costume and powers.

True, players will be allowed to customize certain parts of their character, but they need to keep in mind how the character ticks and which faction that would place them in.

Okay, so we have the factions and their HQ's along with their mission statements. do we want an IC and OOC for each faction so characters can rp within their own faction? Or do we want to have IC'a for different cities or places of importance? I need some assistance from the admins 'cause I never partook in GZ's previous massive rp's, so I'm not sure how they were set up. If we have archives for them, then I'll read up and try and dicceern a proper course of action.

If there is a link to the archive, could someone drop it to me in a PM? I can't be sitting still for long today. Post-holiday's are the worst.

Ok, after some digging, I found a world rp that Gabe and I were just getting started right before the move. We dropped it and never went back to it.

I was working on posting all the planning threads we did, but it's irrelevant. So I will paraphrase and try to make it work for POWERS.

OOC Threads:

The Rules: Yeah, pretty obvious. Things to post about besides the usual include posting orders (if any), rules about switching teams during play, etc.

The Characters: People post their character profiles here. No other chat goes on here.

General OOC chatter: This is where we discuss plot, talk about what's up, tell peeps they are approved, whatevs.

Maps/Location descriptions: Probably a good idea.

Plot and teams: This should probably be a locked thread where we post about the different sides and the plot of the rp.

Staff claimed characters: NPC's we'll use as antagonists or higher ups. All powerful characters would be good here, so no one picks some unstoppable hero and kills us all in one swipe of his mighty fist.

IC Threads:

Still unsure here. In old world rp's, we did them in chapters. We'd all post once or twice or until we get to a stopping point of the gm's discretion and then put the rp on a quick pause. That's where we would get new players and talk about where to go next.

I concidered having different IC's for each side's headquarters (ie SHIELD, etc), but I think in actuality that gets very c/g-ish.

Or, we could just have one giant IC for the whole game. What do you guys think?

Only problem when the 1 big IC thread is that it may get very confusing, especially if any of the players are power posters or two characters are conversing and don't use co-ops.

Since all these organizations aren't in the same city, we could have an individual IC for each city, or maybe several smaller ICs to represent districts in those cities?

I think city based ICs would be good, and after all, does anyone ever pay attention to the subsections of gotham or metropolis? No. Superheroes go everywhere.

So we have IC New York, IC Gotham, IC Arkhan City (which is technically a district of Gotham, but it is where the Brotherhood is based). I think this is a good start. Should we have a "main event" IC where major plot driving events call everyone in to one place, like an epilogue to a chapter before there is that little r&r period?

Just a recomendation, but you may want to add Dr. Nathaniel Essex/Mr. Sinister to that list. He would be my first choice as a character but due to his abilities he would be way too overpowered like several of the other characters on that list. Just my opinion though.

Just so you're aware, I took out the confirmed registrants for each team so as to railroad anyone in a specific direction and added in our characters in the appropriate group. It should be noted that, as of yet, we do not have a staff character in the Fantastic Force.

I have a question.

I'd like to start up a SHIELD recrutiment thread, maybe in Downtown. I am hoping to generate more interest, but I'll be writing it as Black Widow, trying to get people to join SHIELD, if that makes sense.

I don't want to weigh my side too heavily (assumnig I'm successful in recruiting), and I'm hoping other teams will do the same and try to get more people to join their sides.

Would this be a problem with anyone if I went ahead and did it though? Would Downtown be an okay place or should I do it in the Powers OOC?

I think Downtown would be a great spot for it. Would make ti a lot more fun than your regular recruitment thread. But hold off for the time being. At the moment we only have one member in the FF so I would like to give people a chance to pick their groups first, then we can badger them

I think it is fine. The powers are the same and the back-story is similar too. Basically the only things that is different is the "R" on the end of the word "He".

He asked me about using that character and I told him I wasn't sure for that main reason. Also because I don't know how an unkillable character would do in this sort of world. Not like he can be registered, right? I told him to put up a sheet with what he had in mind after expressing my concerns, and here we are.

His main reason, he says, for choosing this character is because he thinks it will be interesting to play a guy based on wrath and vengence. Maybe if Spectre doesn't work out, we can help him find another?

Does it matter that different factions can read other factions pages? I understand the factions can begin by planning things for themselves but would it be best if the others didn't know or does that not matter?

Could passwords be needed for the factions when the rp starts or when enough characters have joined just to keep things secret?

Just wondering is all cause I like keeping things secret from those lesser than SHIELD. =)

If I may input my opinion. You could always add skills and abilities to her. Take my character Zatanna for instance. While her powers are listed on Wikepedia, I added her skills and abilities as well as added a power.

So, adding a skill(s) to her won't kill anyone, it will only add to the dynamics of your character.
I thought we weren't supposed to change the powers. :(

Okay, so Naz and I have chatted about this and we want to see what you think.

We think a little bonus objective in the first chapter will be finding Nitro, the villain that caused the explosion in Stanford that killed around 800 people, including children. Finding Nitro would give a special bonus to the team that deals with him in their own way.

Fantastic Force/S.H.I.E.L.D.: they get public favor and trust again, so they are treated as heroes once more. They become the stuff of children's infatuation and the face of American Justice.

Secret Defenders: The Secret Defenders earn the trust of the people, and so the public will not report them to the authorities if the Defenders are spotted by public eyes.

The Brotherhood: They take Nitro in. Who wouldn't want a walking WMD on their side? They can now use Nitro in rough situations.

The way we will decide who finds Nitro is through a D30 dice roll. Each team rolls a D30. The highest number wins. There will be tie-breakers, of course.

Maybe the heads should tell their groups IC and then you could add it to the opening post? That would help us all establish our roles as authority figures, especially in the more unruley groups.

This just clicked in now. The Brotherhood does not have enough active members to have one for each of the gangs. We have 6 active members, including me. And there are 9? gangs total. If you want to keep it that way, I think, in fairness, The Brotherhood should get Nitro.

I had assumed the answer to this was no, but, what is the ruling on those characters that have henchmen/gangs of their own actually using hose henchmen in battles or to apprehend the Gang Leaders?

I had assumed the answer was no due to how this would lopside things, but really need to know what all of you think. While I agree that this can be done and we can level the playing field in our own ways, I just think it will only serve to make things more complicated.

I think a flat out no would be best, but am curious what Storm thinks.

I am all for henchmen, but they would be like minion level creatures in D&D, meaning that they can be dispatched easily. That is one reason why we have Gang Wars as the first chapter, because it allows the players to stretch their legs with their characters and feel special by kicking some gangster ass. This will allow us to see how players act regarding their characters in PvE and PvP.

You know, putting it that way, I do tend to agree with it for at least the first issue. It would also take the onus off of use to control qa whole bunch of minor NPCs, which was my bigger worry.

I'm gonna ask for a volunteer in the BH and FF to roll the die. All I really have left to do in both sections is give info on who the gangs are. Hopefully the peeps get to posting in the BH so I can do this.

And I do think we should do the matchups for the first issue. That way we can make sure everyhting is evenly kiltered for right now.

Yeah, that way we don't have battles heavily favouring anyone, or multiple characters against one character. Not only that it will make it so the characters in the FF that are already out and about, I can just tell them where to go.

The charcters already out of base are, Rorshach, Red Hood. Zantanna(or however you spell it) and Mask.

And, as You are bad(Red Hood) wanted to use his henchmen to get some info on the gnags, I have PMed him that he will recieve the follwoing info;

Two-Face and his Crime Syndicate are on/in the Upper West Side
Jigsaw's “Beauts” are in Harlem
Pyro and his “Arsonists” are in Morningside Heights

So if we could get any of those characters going to those locales, it would be extremely helpful

I know there'll be conflict, and it will be encouraged. What I'm worried about is us getting overwhelmed in the first issue. Think of it as starting small and working our way up type thing. But it's up to you.
