The time is victorian era, vampires are in hiding, pretending to be certain noble families (among other occupations. The humans that do know vampires exist are a part of two different factions. One that is a holy order and and hunts vampires down, and another that lives in balance with the vampires and deals with one family in particular to get things done.

Roleplay will be rated Mature for all the various reasons.

History: Born into the wealthy and powerful Medici family, Ludovico enjoyed a lavish lifestyle. He did little but drink, whore, and spend his family’s money in Rome. He married but had no children by his wife, as he preferred whores. His only child, Vittoria -later Catherine- was born the year he died to a Courtesan in Rome. To the shock of his family he left this whore his entire fortune, and name in legal papers that could not be contested. In one stroke of a pen, he made a courtesan Countess and wealthy beyond words.

History: Born in a high-class brothel in Rome, Giovanna was raised from birth practically to be a courtesan, and to attract a wealthy patron…she did more than that and went beyond when she secured Ludovico when she was just fifteen. She secured fortune and power, and a bastard daughter, into the bargain.

She lived in wealth and luxury for the remainder of her life, entertaining a few select and wealthy clients, including several Cardinals. She died in her twenties, after falling from a balcony in her villa, leaving her child an orphan.







History: Caterina, who changed her name when she arrived in England to Catherine, was born in 1457, in Rome, in what was then the Papal States. Raised in a lavish house, where her mother entertained numerous gentlemen callers, Caterina learned early on that men were to be manipulated for one's own gain. She also developed a love of fine clothes, jewellery and lavish parties, that would remain with her always.

Orphaned at twelve when her mother died -in mysterious circumstances- Caterina, now Countess despite her age, lived at the villa with the household staff and her maids, as if nothing had happened. She held parties and balls, where everyone commented that she appeared far older than her years. It was turning this time she met the man who would change her life forever...


Caterina spent her girlhood and early twenties partying and honing her skills. She, like her mother before her, became a high-class courtesan; though not for the money. She learned a great deal about the goings on in Rome from the various influential men who visited her. She also received numerous marriage proposals but turned down each in favour of her independence...a rare thing for a woman in that time.


On the eve of her 33 birthday, everything changed, however. An old face from a long-ago visit and offered her the gift of eternal life...Caterina accepted without pause and was made Vampire. She and her Maker then travelled the world, experiencing cultures and worlds she could never have dreamed of.


Eventually, as most do, Caterina parted from her Maker and left to make her own way in the world. She had little interest in settling in what she always referred to, rather dismissively, as 'the New World' and prefered to stay in the old world of Europe. She claimed America, which she had visited several times, was ill-mannered and uncivilised with their showy styles and lust for money. It was unrefined.


In the 19th century, just as the old King, William, was dying and his niece Victoria looked set to succeed, Caterina settled in London, opening a grand and lavish brothel in the best neighbourhood in town. Such was her charisma that no one raised an objection...She painted it as a 'finishing school' with sardonic irony.

Personality: Rather vain and arrogant, stemming from her human life, and dismissive of what she does not like with a chilling coldness. Caterina is, however, a kind, motherly figure to 'her girls' as she affectionately calls the women who work in the brothel. She treats them, human or Vampire, as her own children and constantly seeks to make them happy and safe. She is not above slaughtering someone, again, human or Vampire, who hurts one of her girls.







The Red Opium is a high-class and very exclusive brothel, run by Caterina de Medici in London. To the outside world, it poses as a finishing school for young ladies, but those in the know are aware exactly what it is. Naturally, it accepts no true ladies seeking a school.

The building is very large, and is in short, a house within a house. The front facade presents a vision in Rococo elegance; with pale colours, marbles, dainty tables and priceless art, all wrapped up in rich, pale carpets, complete with household staff. This is where Countess Catherine can entertain genuine visitors, and those seeking to place their daughters in her school...

The real interior is hidden and is far more lavish than the front if that were possible. Hidden behind a secret door, the patrons are conducted into a wide, red hallway, decorated with marble statues of nude women, expensive tapestries, and gold curtains. Along the corridor are plants and decorations, that tell the patrons that no expense has been spared.

The main room, large and decorated in the same colours, with white columns. Screens, in the Chinese style, create a hidden world, behind which all manner of delights might be shown. Love seats and day beds decorate the room, in corners with lavish curtains partially hiding them. Tables stand waiting with fine wines, gin, whisky, and everything a patron could wish, including opium.

Overlooking this main room is an elegantly carved surrounding balcony, that allows patrons to watch what goes on below. Leading off this balcony are several bedrooms, all equally expensive decorated with silks, satin and gold lace.


One floor up is Caterina's private Boudoir, a richly decorated sitting room, leading to her bedroom.
