Are you stalking me D'na? Cause you keep showing up on threads where I have posted...lol. I'm going to have to get a cyber watchdog to keep track of your whereabouts. *evil laugh*

As to your question (not asked publicly), yes, that is the Countess Bathory to which I was referring. :D

Some pretty solid lists.

Moon, you don’t like history?! I absolutely love history. Such fascinating stories <3

I mean, don’t get me wrong... I hated school, but I love studying the subject in my own time. I also get a kick out of trying to find famous locations where significant historic events took place.

I have never been a big fan of history, not in school or now. Geography also sucks...lol. There are time periods which interest me a bit, but not enough to read about them. I would rather go see a movie that takes place in that period and learn that way. All and all, I am a science girl. I love to learn about nature and how things work.

Ah, nice. Science is also awesome :)

I like most subjects, to be honest. I just enjoy learning, so I also love geography, lmaoooo. But yer... historical sites have given me goosebumps when I’ve gone to certain places, though... Like in Anne Frank’s bedroom, Julius Caesar’s palace ruins, Ephesus ruins, the Cu Chi tunnels, etc etc. It’s just the shit!!!

I’m actually going to Luxembourg in May to go explore the old the WW2 underground tunnels. The flight was only 45€ so I couldn’t resist :o

It's actually really hard for me to narrow it down to just 10 but maybe though something like this...

1. Winston Churchill
2. FD Roosevelt
3. Charles de Gaulle
4. Henning Von Tresckow
5. Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim
6. Athelstan I
7. Elizabeth I
8. Homer
9. Thomas Paine
10. William Marshal

There's a couple of obscure ones in there I guess. Henning Von Tresckow was a german resistance leader in WW2, Mannerheim was commander of the army of Finland and later president of the country, Athelstan I was an Anglo-saxon king and William Marshal was an english knight - possibly the greatest knight in human history. There's a whole load of mexican and native american personalities I like as well.

Very nice!

In defense of my rather obscure and random list, I would just like to mention that the people I named are historical figures of interest, not ones that I necessarily look up to...because that would just be wrong. XD

Nope

Must these historical persons be deceased? There are many people who have made history whom are still shlumping.
Asking for my own list context.

Strictly speaking I'd say yes. To be historical persons they must first be dead or at least presumed dead.

-Queen Cleopatra
-Josip Broz Tito
-Niccolo Machiavelli
-Catherine the Great
-Princess Ileana of Romania

There's many more, but these are the ones I can think of atm.

Queen Liliuokalani
Empress Dowager Tz'u-Hsi
Mata Hari
Hatshepsut
Alexander the Great
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Abd al Rahman
Donnchadh O Hamsaigh
Gertrude Bell

Both Thomas Paine & Nikola Tesla have already been mentioned, but they were both in the running for my list, so I am just lazily mentioning them both for tenth. Unusual to see another Paine mention, so that was fun! It was hard to whittle away, though...
