Magic is fading from our world. Spell casting is still possible but it's extremely difficult to do, to the point that any major work of magics are done by a team of casters to avoid death by exhaustion.
The age of warriors wielding the powers of the abyss and cosmos are gone, the world has lost much of it's splendor after the Magic wars that ravaged it. leaving the world a scarred battlefield with less and less beauty.
However in the absence of practical magic a new power has been discovered. To make up for the gap created technology has evolved. Steam tech has served the world well int he absence of magics bounty. Trains, lights and even primitive personal technology has been developed.
But what is most impressive is the creating of the Casters. mechanical devices that allow their wielder to fire special shells that the remaining mages have imbued with their magical powers. These devices can house one spell and can be recharged by mages for a small fee.
this has revolutionized warfare as now commanders lead their soldiers wielding this mighty weapons. Though as is the nature of such things, Many casters can now be found on the black market as well as the shells both scavenged or stolen from the battle fields.

The Yastan Kingdom

The Yastan kingdom
This kingdom was once a center of trade and diplomacy, however the magic wars that ravaged the plains turned it for the most part barren. Many oasis dot its now barren plains that the low folk migrate to and from on a seasonal scale so as not to tax what little workable land they have.
The capital though once built for trade and culture has become a military fortress housing only those of the royal family and those who can help the Yastan war effort. Four times a year military recruitment is held but only 10% of the applicants make it through selection and only capable mercenaries make it further than the first strata once inside the palatial city.
The Holy Imperium

After the loss of magic, the Imperium rose up from a massive influx of political influence in their local church. These zealots do not scorn the loss of magic and instead see it as a divine decree to cease their reliance on the practice. The Imperium is no friend to any mage who practices unholy magic and they seek to spread their influence through military might.
The Zimian Empire

In contrast to her sister nations Zima is an empire run by a council of mages. As magic faded and those who could wield what power was left became a political power the Zimans elected their most powerful mages to the council. Now the Empire has become a beacon to mages everywhere who cannot find their place in the other kingdoms.

Rafe is a young man low born from one of the many nomadic tribes that belong to the Yastan Kingdom. His aspiration is to become a soldier for the Royal army and make a name for himself but so far all he's become is a bronze level mercenary.
His brave and prone to rash action but eager to prove himself and overcome the challenges placed in front of him.
After obtaining his MaSword from a black marcket dealer and spending the rest of his savings on a few Castershells Rafe believes he can finally make the cut at the next military proving being held at the fortress castle.

Anastasia is the young fiancée of the prince of The Yastan kingdom, who discovered that she knows magic well without any problems, and wants to use it to become a most powerful empire.
Anastasia herself thinks that you should not misuse magic, purely because she thinks that magic has something unique and that she should treat it with respect and help people, and that she should not have any evil intentions for it. She wants to bring all the magic back into the world and restore it, so people can help to rebuild the beauty of magic

Appearance: He dresses in normal townspeople clothes, albeit a bit darker than normal, and a black leather cloak. He wears black leather oots with two small belts on both of them, black gloves, and a pair of metal steampunk-y style goggles. He has long brown hair, a beard, and green eyes. He carries two revolvers on his belt.
Personality: Inventive, clever, resourceful. He hates the mages who rule the upper-class, and all magic in general. He knows technology will overcome it, but he wants that to be today.

Keirran was raised and tutored by the most brilliant mages the kingdom had it's disposal, even though he hasn't traveled far outside his home he has had explorers and scholars summoned to him to learn what they have to teach him.
As the kingdoms continued to war with each-other a thought occurred to the young prince, That if the three kingdoms could be brought together under one purpose then it was possible to return magic to the world. As if by providence the same year he came up with this theory a young girl was betrothed to him, a girl who could cast spells as easy as breathing. The prince poured himself into this thoughts seeking a way to make his vision a reality, However as the wars continued the Kierran's vision shifted from one of unity to Domination. The other nations had to be brought to heel especially the Imperium who posed the most threat, not just because they wanted to destroy all magic users but also because they would abolish the monarchy so that the church could rule.
