Name:Marcus Carrow
Age:59
Appearance:Once a imposing, handsome man with an air of authority, now Marc just looks tired and older than his years, thin and haggard. His wild mane of hair's gone prematurely stark white, in fact, it's been that way for a long time, and his ice-blue eyes have a far-off look about them that belie past tragedy.
Bio: Carrow used to be a spook, the real kind. A CIA agent doing Uncle Sam's dirty work the world over, and it was a job he was very, very good at. Well connected, charismatic, and wickedly intelligent, there was talk of him being on the fast track making director....

But everything changed one fateful night when he was sent with a team to investigate what may have been a national security concern in a small town not far from a nuclear control facility. People were seeing and hearing strange lights and sounds in the woods, and several had disappeared, including a county sheriff sent to investigate. Terrorism or foreign actors were suspected to be involved, be it in espionage of sabotage.

Whatever, precisely it was he saw that night is anyone's guess, but by morning, he was the only one left alive, stumbling out of the woods unarmed, naked, covered in blood and muttering to himself. A swift investigation was concluded and then immediately classified, and Marcus himself was put on psychiatric leave. Nobody, much less the government, was interested in what he had to say, and it was only his connections that kept him out of a padded cell.

He became obsessed with finding out the truth of what happened to him, and not long after finally being deemed fit for service, he was caught trying to access further classified information and stripped of his security clearance, given a menial desk job. His career was over, and his marriage fell apart not long after, which only furthered his obsession. He joined several paranormal support groups, began contacting the media, and was becoming both an embarrassment and a liability to the agency. It wasn't going to be long before he either got rid of himself or they did it for him.

His salvation came in the form of a phone call from a blocked number, the person on the other end of the line using a voice scrambler. Apparently, someone had heard of his particular 'situation', someone very important, with very deep pockets. No name was ever given, but something else was offered instead. Marcus would have to stop talking to the media, quit his job, and live under the radar. In exchange, he was given protection, and expense account, and most importantly, validation.

There were things out there that defied all explanation. The government knew and cared more about keeping it from the public than dealing with it. His mysterious benefactor or benefactors, meanwhile, took a more active approach, fighting the shadows from the shadows themselves, and they wanted him to join them, on a trial basis. The gave him a few lead to follow, and he's made a good account of himself so far, saved who he could, and more importantly, made it through safe and sane. Now it's time for him to take a step up the ladder, which means no more solo work. Luckily, the agency already had their eyes on a few hopeful recruits, and tasked Carrow to round them up. And so now he's headed upstate with a damaged marine riding shotgun and a girl far too smart for her own good in the back seat, with little more instruction that the address of a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere where they're supposed to meet 'like minded individuals'.

Appearance: A lanky, well-built man with deep olive skin, almond eyes and long black hair tied back in three braids, two shorter ones framing his face and a third going back nearly to his waist, sometimes wrapped up under a turban when he's in a good enough mood to deal with overt stares and subtle racism. He wears a Kara bracelet looped around his right wrist, and a hooked Kirpan dagger at his waist, both of iron.

Appearance:A petite, some wound say 'mousy' young woman, with dirty blonde hair and gentle, blue-grey eyes peeking out from behind half- frame glasses. She dresses with a unique style unto herself that pretty much screams hipster, only fitting for the proudest nerd to ever live.

Presence : Broad shouldered and busty in the best way, Eerie is just as much a treat for the eyes as she is a threat for one’s well-being. No one should have the sort of confidence this little lady exudes when they barely hit 5’3. With her unnatural appeal, Eerie has been blessed with hips that lie like a corrupt priest and lips that make grown men cry. Those eyes though, there’s something strange in them, a ring of a violet color around deep brown. Half lidded and long lashed, they seem to change based on situation. (much like her voice.) Short, hacked off black hair and her lack of femininity counter that, making the sense of a vague threat. Spending most of her life in motels or on the back of her bike, There’s very little you’ll catch the woman in. Black boatneck, button up shirts left wide open and high top jeans are the usual. Partnered with a thick, vintage belt with a silver buckle of course. Heavy boots jangle as she walks past. If she’s feeling fancy, perhaps the skin tight black dress she keeps in her saddlebag. A tight black choker, a gift from Leddy when they first started travelling is the only jewellery the woman wears.

Personality: There isn’t a man alive that has a ‘big dick energy’ like this sly little bitch. A volatile mix of sass, alcohol and self destructive tendencies, Eerie is cocky like any cowboy dreams to be. Perhaps there’s reason for that. A ‘witch’ is what she calls herself, but is that the truth? No one really knows, not even the organization. While overly touchy and affectionate with just about everyone, it takes a while to break past the thick walls she’s put up. Not many know what’s on the other side, and those that do, don’t share it all too often. Loyal to those who she deems worth her damn efforts, Eerie is willing to be torn limb from limb to protect her little clan, and to turn those who threaten them into ashes. Cross her, and you’ll be sure to have a bad time. Innocent lives being toyed with is something that rubs her the wrong way, seems to strike a particular cord in that black heart of hers.

No one is quite sure how old, or... what Eerie really is. Demon in human skin, a chaotic demigod of olden times, or... something else? A self proclaimed ‘monster’ for the people, this witch lives up to her namesake. While she appears in her mid 20’s, she’s not aged in forever, at least since her long time partner was 11 years old. Somewhere between a liability and a threat, the witch’s been weaponized by those that pull the strings. Not that she minds. After all, there are those that must work to keep the balance, and keep people safe. As best you can when you’re a small team.

Past: In the mid 90s, Eerie was travelling with a pair of gents who called themselves the Marcus brothers. What had she been up to before then? What caused her to team up with them? Were they actually brothers? Well, there’s speculation. Regardless, they worked well once they’d gotten the woman to trust them. An unstoppable team on a hunt for every undead, unearthly or unknown motherfucker they could find and deal with. While Eerie wasn’t in control of their destinations, their group rose through the ranks with the ‘gatekeepers’. Or, that was what the brothers had called them. Becoming a well recognized force, and finally getting a bit of cash to make survival that much easier.

On one particular observation mission, they’d come across a terrible scene, An entire family harassed by an ‘unseen’ force, then suddenly taken. All except one. A young boy who’d been hiding in the attic. It wasn’t anything crazy, but the lady had formed a sort of attachment to the poor boy, Demanding they stay to make sure he had next of kin or something at least. She would check in with a few of the kids from various missions, but the way this kid clung to her after the whole ordeal pulled at heartstrings she didn’t know she had.

She continued on, working whatever was tossed their way for years. That was, until one job went particularly sideways. Both brothers were never found, and she barely made it out in on piece. IT took a year to rope things back together and repair herself. New fangled tech she’d never had to work with was learned, and things were sorted out via the organization. It was a contract to contract basis, for better or for worse.

During a lapse in contracts, She’d taken the time to check in with a few of the kids she’d kept an eye on, one in particular seeming to cause trouble. A young man affectionately called ‘Leddy’. It didn’t help that while on her visit there, a contract came up for a particularly nasty sort of man eater, and it lurked in the woods near where the angry brat of a boy and his teenage brat buddies partied. That night, Escorting the young man to said ‘party’ was the right move.

Finding the local teens torn apart was one thing, revealing her inhuman nature was another. After killing the monsters and barely pulling the tree branch out of her chest, Leddy seemed to take a keen interest in her work. Something very much distasteful in her eyes. Fights broke out while she was recovering in hospital, but eventually, it was promised that she’d give him a chance if he got through school at the top of his class. And if he made it through basic training without dying. Only if he proved himself would she give him the contacts he needed in order to get into the business.

Three years later, She was on the road with baggage. Again. The dynamic was strange, but it worked well enough. Companionship and mentor-ship lead to friendship and then something more. It was like it was with the brothers those years ago, yet different. Better even. For the first time in a long while, the path ahead wasn’t so lonely. The two had each other’s back and their distinct tactics made them top class once again. Unstoppable, indestructible, inseparable.

Then it happened again.

Some other monster had the jump on them while they were travelling, the accident nearly killed her ‘kid’. It had forced her hand, and to reveal the furthest extents of just what sort of creature was laying beneath that smooth, pale skin. After rushing him to the nearest hospital, Eerie took comfort in the creature’s destruction and whatever else she could get her hands on. The thought of loosing her closest friend was one she couldn’t bear. Protective instincts won out over the man’s assurance that he was fine and things happen. For the betterment of the both of them, things were broken off on mostly mutual terms. Before Leddy managed to get out of hospital, more bad news reached them. His only surviving family member had passed. Along with his substantial inheritance, he’d received the farmhouse from all those years back.

With many battles under his belt, her partner decided to work from the shadows from then on, especially after a few concerning incidents. It’s been that way for years now. The farmhouse acts as a home base. Still very close with the strange farm boy, the witch can be found there when she isn’t on a job. Mostly in cold, winter months. From equal to superior, Eerie now works under the ginger bastard. Jobs get done when they need getting done, albeit with far more mess than he would like. With an abnormal increase in... activity, The organization has decided to send more ‘manpower’ their way. Fresh meat, as far as she’s concerned.

Fun Fact: Eerie’s hair is short because of being used against her too many times. She use to have long, elegant hair and care far more about her appearance. (not to mention she was far less of a loose canon)

Name: Landry “Leddy” Benoit
Age: 32

Presence : If it weren’t for his less than sturdy build, Leddy would be far more intimidating. Not that he isn’t with that scowl and piercing glare. If there was a bit more meat on his lanky ass frame, however, he’d be a force to be reckoned with. Pasty skin littered with scars and deep set eyes with dark circles are all too telling of the man’s addiction to caffeine and lack of regular rest. Messy ginger hair cut into what seems to be the messiest of mullets, it screams redneck just about as much as the accent that slips out when he’s pissed off. Underweight and sickly looking, Leddy seems misleadingly weak. Lanky, thin limbs and a long neck only add to the illusion that he could blow away in too strong of a breeze. It couldn’t be farther from the truth.

Scruffy and unkempt, Leddy is often found in overly baggy shirts and tight jeans, spots of car grease and whatever else he’s been working with often staining the cheap material and his hands. A massive tattoo decorates his back, a ward of sorts. Something he found in his hundreds of hours of research. It’s kept him safe after his accident. His holster never leaves his belt, and his belt is never out of reach. If he’s forced to leave his home due to ‘work’ He’s got heat packed under a loose, khaki bomber jacket. That and a thick scarf to keep warm.

Personality: Once a sly, smart mouthed young man, Leddy is now a burnt out, Jaded and worn down old soldier trapped in the body of a 32 year old. Stoic at first, the aggression lies just under the surface. He’s as quick to fire as he is quick to draw his weapon. Irritated, stressed beyond human comprehension and often stuck cleaning up the messes of hunters all over the world, there isn’t much in the world that actually shakes the man. (or so it seems) Despite the terrifying number of traps, weapons and home ‘security’ devices around his property, He often seems bored with what he’s dealing with. That or irritated.

In all reality, Leddy is a paranoid shut in that keeps his brains about him with caffeine and nicotine after years of dealing with whatever was thrown his way. Once you get past the wall of aggression and irritation, you find a young man burdened with far too much, Coping with the aid research, work and far too much coffee. For such a sloppy appearance, He can be quite anal about how things are in the house, more out of caution than actual irritation. He’s dealt with things that barely reveal themselves, the slightest change in things can send him into soldier mode. Mind over matter, and all that wonderful jazz

While he’s hard on those under his wing, he does care, and shows it with commiseration and a safe haven that is meticulously maintained. Patient with the youngest of newbies, and more than happy to show off when in comfortable company, There’s still a little spark in him. It just takes a bit to get him fired up in the right way.

Past:
Life was normal until one snowy night in 1999. While it was strange that he and his siblings weren’t allowed out like they normally were, but that didn’t mean fun couldn’t be had. Playing Hide and seek after dinner with his twin brother, Leddy hid in the attic, like always. That was when it happened. The hum that rattled in his chest, the bright light, the screams and the shriek of metal that echoed in his head. Memories are hazy, but the only thing that still sticks in his memory is a warm pair of arms wrapping around him and hauling him out from behind the old chest. It wasn’t his mother or father’s arm. Nor his siblings. It was a strange, violet eyed woman with black hair.

Things changed that night. Suddenly, his family was gone. Taken away. He’d been practically dropped on his grandmother’s doorstep, and while she did what she could, the trauma lead to a bad attitude and other issues. The fact that the police, the news and even his grandmother lied and said his family members had been killed only made things that much worse. While he forced himself to believe their lies, deep down, he knew better.

While he was seen as a delinquent punk in school, He did well in sports. Head boy on the basketball team and making use of his school ‘fame’ to act out and be the testosterone ridden asshole that he wanted to be. Fights were a regular occurrence, until that final growth spurt. Once he hit full height, not one person fucked with him. At 17, he had all the infamy his teenage mind needed to feel strong, important, untouchable. That was, until a familiar face showed up once again.

That strange woman with the violet eyes and black hair. His grandmother had kept in contact. For years he could have sworn he’d seen her out of the corner of his eyes before, this just confirmed the spying on him. Her presence pissed him off to his core, bringing out memories he didn’t want to face, nor would he. After a rather nasty fight with his grandmother in regards to a party he’d intended on going to, the agreement was reached that as long as this creepy looking broad chaperoned, he’d be allowed to go. Even this stranger was being pushy about driving him out.

It was only when they arrived that he realized why she’d been so fucking insistent on being the one to drive him out.

The mangled remains of his team and the nightmarish creatures that stood around the fire, it was something out of the deepest recess of his mind. Something he’d never thought he’d see. Something he never SHOULD have seen. The car was totalled pretty quickly, and if it wasn’t for eerie, the strange broad, he’d have ended up just as dead as his team mates. Instead he got to see what happened when someone was impaled through the chest on a branch, and then pull themselves off. And that these things could be killed, like any other thing.

The result of that night? What should have broken his mind only seemed to pull every conspiracy theory and dark creature from his mind and seed the need to hunt them down in him. He’d pulled through on saving her ass, Bringing her to the hospital when she’d dropped after the ‘fight’. From punk problem to pestering kid in one night. He wanted in. He wanted to do what she was doing, and he wasn’t taking no for an answer. This was a way he could help the world, to make sure no kid went through what he’d gone through so long ago.

After weeks of pestering and refusing to leave the woman’s side, an agreement was reached. Finish school, Enroll in military basic training and she’d make things happen. The promise seemed to be what he needed. Top of his class, he finished basic training and found himself without an assigned base. Instead, he was sent to a seedy motel by a strange phone call, only to find a now familiar face.

Those years spent hunting with eerie were anything but peaceful, but they gave him purpose. Balancing the chaos that was this job, trying to master the new resources that’d been given to him by the shadowy organization he was now linked with and training under the wildcard that was eerie gave him nerves of steel in the very least. That and a wicked shot. He had a ‘knack for guns’ as the witch so eloquently pointed out. . After time together, he ended up pursuing more than simple companionship with the woman. It was the first time in years he came to appreciate the little things. A job well done. A warm bed. The feeling of success that came with avoiding some sort of legal charge without too much aid of their ‘keepers’.

That was, until trouble found them while they were on their way to a big job. A monster hadn’t taken him down in a fight, no no. The crash had done that before he’d gotten a chance to let off a shot. One moment he was on the road, the next, he was fighting for his life in a hospital bed. Miles away from where they wanted to be and an exhausted woman at his side. Recovery was rough. It’d taken forever and a day. He’d tried to assure his lover that he’d recover, but something in her changed and he didn’t know why. Not until he’d heard from a higher up about the clean up in progress on whatever mess she’d made while he was out. Fight after fight lead to the mutual dissolution of their relationship.

If his near death and the breaking off of his relations with the witch weren’t enough, the loss of his last remaining family was the straw that broke the camels back. Adding insult to injury his endurance never returned, and while he wanted to, he couldn’t fight like he needed to keep up with Eerie anymore. There wasn’t an option to work on his own either. There was really only one choice. Along with a sizable investment fund, The two story house he’d grown up in was now his. In negotiations with his ‘employers’, an agreement was reached. With his skills in research and technology, He resigned as a hunter, and worked instead as one of their official members. There wasn’t much of a choice. If he hadn’t taken their offer, he’d have to deal with... consequences. Ones he didn’t want to consider.

Discovering an interest in technology and the other side of their job, Leddy did what he could from his safe haven. Lodgings, lawsuits, solutions for tough hunts and In particular messing with the government and manipulating things to make every hunter’s life that much easier became his every waking moment. He did it all. Not only that, His home became a fortress of his own making. A place he could keep the evil forces of the outside world from touching.

Years of this have given him a sort of tenure with the organization. He’s got funding, he’s got an untouchable status, but he’s on a leash of sorts. While he’s privy to certain inner workings, things are starting to seem less like his calling, and more like a prison. Refusing to put eerie or himself in harms way, he works day in and day out. In his unintentional climb up, he’s been slammed with a bigger and bigger workload. Now he’s being told of ‘certain individuals’ that will be coming to work with them. It has yet to be seen if their intentions are to help, or to be yet another way for the organization to keep their eyes on him and his ‘pet.’


Fun Fact: Leddy’s nick name came from his little sister’s mispronunciation of his name. His family found it endearing, and it seemed to stick.

I love them, can't wait to see how they get along with my misfits. Carrow is paranoid when it comes to things he doesn't understand, so there's sure to be tension when he finds out Eerie's true nature. Leddy might be onto something when it comes to the organization trying to use him to keep an eye on their liability, because collateral damage isn't something he's likely to tolerate

Kasimir is far more laid back, to him, there are only two kinds of people in the world, the ones you follow, and the ones you have to protect. Carrow saved him, so there's loyalty there, but his code is a lot more flexible. Given the choice between doing the right thing or the legal thing, he'll do the right thing every time.

Brooksie...well, she'll just be overwhelmed. By far the youngest and most vulnerable person in the group, the only one she'll have anything at all in common with will be Leddy, since they're both tech-heads. Eerie will probably become a role-model for her, weather that's a good thing or not. Her unrequited schoolgirl crush on Kas could cause some tension.

I'm planning on posting from each characters point-of-view in turn, maybe splitting up a post into multiple perspectives if there's a lot going on. Never trust their perceptions of each other to be the whole truth, each one has their biases. Brooksie's is gonna be hilarious because she such the definition of a millennial(or, gen X-er, or whatever), comparing everything and everyone to pop culture and assorted nerdery.

Fantastic~! I'm glad you're as pumped for them as I am pumped for your three. I think that once she shows she's not a threat, Carrow will come to trust the little fireball. Def not a good role model for nerd girl though, I can see Leddy trying to sneak in there and be all ."Nono. plz do not. look that way and ignore the dumpster fire" she's going to confused the hell out of him at first, Never mind the old maid.

It will be a fantastic little rag tag group, Especially if they get the bitch-hermit outta his house. I'm very excited to get this little bit moving and grooving. A quick question. Would they have been given some sort of code or something to get in? Otherwise it's very possible that they'd get shot. Lets discuss here, perhaps get a line of dialogue or action from Carrow and the group so that I can get them in the house?

They got nothing, I was actually thinking Leddy shoving a gun in their faces would be a fantastic introductory experience, but that's all the way up to you, I was hoping to see a little interaction between your two while mine are wandering up the driveway.

Instead of planning everything out, better to just write around each other and go with the flow when it comes to social interaction. Planning ahead will be for the monsters they encounter, I've got some pretty neat folklore stuff to introduce.

It was fantastinc, everyone's really beginning to come into their personalities, even this early. Carrow is such a 'dad'....a scary-ass black-ops-trained dad, but still such a dad. Even though he knows Eerie's older than him, she doesn't look it, and if she gets past his rough exterior and natural mistrust, they could actually have a sorta father-daughter dynamic going. Whatever it takes to cope, since he missed most of his own kids growing up.

Kas is....well, he's just Kas. A sorta-oblivious badass who doesn't even try that hard to BE badass, just follows his instincts. He's almost shy around the opposite sex now, since he's so committed to his 'path', which I feel will prove a disappointment and a challenge for both of our leading ladies.

And Brooksie? Yeah, she's getting really autobiographical. The fact that I had to change very, very little in order to turn my younger self into a girl probably says something about me...or about traditional gender stereotypes. Maybe both. If it's not uber obvious, she a virgin a capital V-I-R-G-I-N, way self-conscious, with some really odd media-and-internet influenced views of how relationships work. I'm also going to have wayyyy too much fun with this love triangle.

Oh gods I love it all. Highlight of my day I swear on the gods. Itll be interesting, because in ways we haven't seen yet, eerie and Leddy have a W E E E I R D dynamic. Think mother, sister and closest friend all in one? Since he lost them so early and she was there. He doesnt get the mom thing but OH BOI does she momma bear him. Uber protective.

Leddy and Kas are going to have an interesting dynamic. Leddy isnt always such a spaz. Thank god. Hes usually quite stoic and bad ass, despite being such a scrawny rail of a man. Eerie is going to take that challenge at full throttle. It'll be amusing to say the least.

Yes, the capital V was very obvious. And adorable. You best bet that once she realizes eerie is not as much of competition as she is a force to be feared and respected, i can see some mentoring there. ( much to my little hick's lament) the group is fantastic. As for Carrow. I think Eerie eill be more of an equal? Shes not as much of a child as she's been so far. But we'll see. Shes had it rougher than Leddy

You won't believe how happy it makes me to heart that, I do aim to please after all. Looking forward to reading what you've written me is definitely something that makes each day of work just a bit easier.

As for all the interpersonal connections, better to show than tell that sort of thing and let the characters decide. No amount of planning is going to take the place of what the author's instinct feels they should do in that situation. So we'll see how they feel about all that, shall we?

Awww~ I'm glad we're in the same boat. It's especially helpful recently with all the stress that goes along with my little bro's brain surgery coming up here soon. THe diagnostic surgery has almost finished their work. I should be able to get more to you than usual tomorrow, as I finally have the day off. But I'll be heading in earlier too. Should have something to you here in the next hour or so! Probably less since I have a fair bit of outline already done.

That's a fair enough point. Im thinking eerie will drag the lot downstairs and leddy will give them some ground rules and such for (their) safety. Perhaps move a bit more in that direction. Tell me, did you have an idea for the first hunt? I have a few options.

You've got my prayers in that, and I'm not even religious...the way I see it, it's a challenge. If whatever god with the power to make it go well actually delivers, and then makes it clear to me which one of them it is, bam, soul devoted. Lack of proof is literally the only thing keeping me on the agnostic side.

Like, seriously....as always, other people's problems make mine seem miniscule by comparison. I've got a loving family, a god-kid on the way(which lets me off the hook for fulfilling my procreational duty), cash coming in by the fistful. Like, I'm blessed, and yet there's nothing I can do about shitty parents or childhood trauma or major surgery. I can just throw money at the problem until I feel less bad about myself, or offer worthless hopes and prayers.

I mean, that's fair. I've always been a witch, I have a soft spot for the traditions of old and that's a big part of that. I send out what I can, offerings and all, and that's all I can do really do. That and be there emotionally to help. Being the soft, sucky bean that I am and all.

Yep, my best friend Rainy finally found a man worth a damn to pull the trigger with, and in six months or so I'll have a brand-new godson or goddaughter to start doting on. My head's still in a loop, but I'm ecstatic for it. I'm real close with her family, so the second I found out I had to start calling around to her mom and aunts and my sister and my folks and my cousins to squeal about it.

Me, I've got already my nephew, Howland, three years old, but my sister and stepbrother live in a different city, a couple hours away, so I only get to see him on special occasions and when my parents wrestle him away from them. Meanwhile, this one, she'll be local and I'll have her from birth of (most hopefully my) death. I'm hoping it's a girl. We've had a name picked out for a long time...Clover. Clover Sun. The dad's last is Gibson, so it'll be Clover Sun Gibson. She can go by Clover, or Clove, or Sun, or Sunny....or whatever the fuck she decides suits her. Point is, she'll be the coolest fuckin kid.

If it's a boy, Crimson Davent(my middle name). I dunno how the hell I'm supposed to raise a guy in the sort of world we've found ourselves in. A lot of the unbreakable male instincts are just....unacceptable in the society we've ended up with, so I'll have to tech him to be careful and try to explain why things are the way the are. I'm actually more scared of trying to teach a man how to be a good man than teaching a girl how to keep herself safe.

After that, either dive Right in, or timeskip to their first real 'road job' I was thinking Brooke stay at the compound with Leddy while Carrow, Kas, and Eerie put work in, being their eyes in the sky and voices in their ears.

Im thinking send them out on a job fast, since I doubt there would be much of an interlude for anything. Brook stays behind with Leddy and sees what he does behind the scenes. I think Brook will learn guns from the sharp shooter as well? A good plan? Since he's got the safest place to learn, and he's been shot enough times that if something goes awry he can fix it. Within reason. And she'll get to see some of him that Eerie doesn't even really get to see :oi: , since she's out on the road almost all the god damn time.

Yeah, I think it would be fun to play some 'Odd Couple' games with those two.. Landry does computers, but he's old-school, while Brooksie's from a generation that was basically raised by a monitor, so she'll probably be able to streamline a lot of his work and make things happen that, yeah, he might have the know-how to do, but never the time. While 'out there' she's an awkward wannabe manic pixie dream girl, set her down in front of a keyboard and she becomes far more analytical and capable.

I'm also wondering how having Kasimir around is going to affect your two. He's got the remarkable ability to make other people feel not just physically, but morally inadequate. Having a true believer on the scene might cause some friction in a household with so many vices under it's roof. How long will 'we respect your beliefs' last when he keeps making everyone feel guilty?

As for Kas, there will be accomodations made, but if he gets preachy they will tell him to stuff it. Eerie more so. Only because of what she is, And that's all im going to give for her spoilers. Leddy is good at tuning people out when he wants. She can get anti preachy. And in a rather aggressive way.

He doesn't get too preachy, and he's given up on debate. Sikhism is non-proselitization, they're a special club that doesn't want anyone not willing to live and breathe it, unless your born in or marry into it.

That came from being stick in India, wedged between both Hindu and Muslim kingdoms that looked unfavourably on having their believers poached. It helps that unlike 90% of the world's religions, they don't seem to consider theirs the only route to salvation, just one of them. It's like Buddhism with an actual god and a few more rules.

Whatever Eerie really is, I doubt his scriptures have anything to say about it specifically, and his rules are written by humans, for humans and so she's got a loophole. Her... excentricities won't be immorality. Just following a different nature.

As for Leddy, he might get annoyed after a whole by Kasimir being so goddamn perfect all the time. But that, and the desire to impress a certain geeky girl, might be the kick in the pants he needs to get back in shape. No more chain smoking and sitting around the house, because Brooke's gonna get b-o-r-e-d and drag him out to have this thing called 'fun'.

It may not seem it, but he isn't in the worst shape. He just... needs to learn that there's the need for more than one meal a day and and an endless supply of coffee or whiskey. It may get him to calm down on the smokes though... not cut it out entirely, but get better. Sleep a bit.

I see it being more a relief to have a bloody human around instead of Eerie. THat and someone that isn't the cowboy up sort might help him deal with all the trauma that comes with this sort of job. At least to be more functioning than 'just work yourself to death'. That and make him leave the house. Fun is a good thing. I don't know the last time he had fun that wasn't the simple satisfaction of a job well done.

Kas also has his demons to contend with, and if something or someone pushes him to break from faith, watch out. He's either all-on, or all-off, with no middle ground to speak of. Without that moderating influence, out comes the foul-mouthed, death-seeking, addiction-addicted, utterly broken person that he tries to hold at bay. Carrow knows this, and so he'll go out of his way to try to keep him feeling useful and too tired risk a relapse.

It's one of the like two things that we have in common, that and rush, so I cherish the time. Good game, too, Murray-SEMO, we won in overtime in what had to be the foul-callingest game of the season. Walks, bumps, lane violations, if they could blow a whistle for it refs were ON IT. Turned it into a free-throw contest that we won.

Working on my reply now, dropping some information, creating some friction right off the bat. Which, honestly, you should have seen coming. I mean, I come from a family that taught me a healthy respect for the almighty boozahol by getting me familiar with it pretty early, but Brooksie isn't just based on me, but also a few of the people I grew up with, one of whom succeeded in staying mostly-innocent to the ways of the grown-up world until I gave her a rude awakening that she mighta taken a little too far trying to be 'cool'. So this scene, and likely some to come, will be based pretty heavily off of her.

But it's an understandable mistake, people who don't get out much fall into habits, and start to consider their habits the world's normal until someone disabuses them of that notion.

I debated for a many as to weather or not I would actual post this one the way it is, or just go with the flow and try to avoid any more drama for now, but the scene was just too perfect to pass up. Brooksie's got more than a smidge of 'SJW' in her.....it's a generational thing we've got, at least here in the states, and it proliferates and reinforces itself on forums and in comment sections, so she's well exposed. Plus being raised in a household where both parents work and split bills gives her that as a baseline for 'normalcy'.

So much fun though, and I was getting tired of her letting herself get pushed around for so long. She's got my argumentative streak, so if there's a problem, she's gonna tell you about it.

Ooh, a fun bit of friction, I'm sure. Being the 'quiet one' in a big family got her used to being her own person early, since there wasn't enough parental attention to keep track of them all. She's also never had to grow out of that 'mine' phase, dividing things between 'hers' and 'not-hers', territorial over the one and covetous of the other. That'll probably have to change if she wants to get along here.

Reply is up...started it last night and got to it the second I got home from work. Really proud of this one...goddamn do I love these people. Kas showed a bit of his scary there for a second...that'll come out more once they get into the field where he's got 'deserving' outlets for his aggression.

And yes, the Eerie thing is going to be a very long internal debate for him, and she'd best watch just how much damage she does to their surroundings out in the field. The 'it would have killed others' excuse will mollify him, for a while, but there's always a point of no return. Hopefully, not wanting to get bitched out by Carrow will keep her from crossing too many lines unless she absolutely has to.

PS:I'm probably going to have to change both of their bio's to 'just read the thread', because neither Kasimir nor Brooklyn are turning out quite as I first envisioned them. He's turning out to be a much darker character in general, while she's a lot more awkward and shy than the 'queen geek' I labeled her as first starting out.

From the look of her and such I can see him being all. I should say, most of her damage is monetary and environmental. Yes, she'll shoot through a person to kill something if it's a last choice. Her records make her seem far worse than she is in that respect. Mostly due to some pretty nasty cases. Before being around Leddy or the brothers, she was definitely more of a wild card. but. Alas. She will be fun at least.

All good, that tends to be how these things go. It'll be fun to see how they continue to grow.

That would be funny, now that's something for them to bond over. While me, and, I'm sure, Eerie are going to have a lot of fun with Brooke's infatuation with Kasimir, Leddy's got a solid shot, there's a respect there...she'll just have to get over expecting the love of her life to be 'perfect'. And he'll have to get over the idea of her being a straight-up child, incapable of being found attractive because he doesn't want to be a creep,presuming he cares about that kind of thing).

Kas should go a ways towards that,showing his imperfections as time goes on. There's a mean streak that she'll be smart to be afraid of, and piety has it's downsides....Brooke wants to fuck. If there's anything her brain and body are in agreement on, it's that OH BOY does she want to fuck.

I think it'll be interesting for Brook to see that not so pious side of Kas, while also seeing that this angry bitch hermit (upon first meeting of course) Is far more upstanding than he seems, just different methods and other baggage that come along with this sort of work. I doubt he'll see much at first, he's still rather jaded and bitchy about things, but, I'm sure if she keeps up on the brain end of things, there will be little sparks. Sparks that he won't know what the f u c k to do with.

To be fair, Eerie uses the things she hunts for her entertainment. if they're human at least. A little vindictive and nasty that way. She just found it worked better than trying to be all hunter all the time. Sometimes things take a woman's touch. I'll be interested to see just how long he can keep the holier than thou shit up. Especially if he does end up taking a stab at the witch. She'll rip that thing outta her chest and stab his hand in retaliation. Mutter off something about it belonging in his hand, not her tits, and walk it off.

Once we get to the point that we know W h a t she is, that'll make more sense.

Those two are definitely going to have a fun saint-and-sinner dynamic between them, and Kas gets to suffer a double-dose of guilt over everything. One for letting her do whatever unsavory thing she dreams up, and another for, behind his mask, finding the sight and thought of her indulging that 'baser instinct' he wrestles with extraordinarily hot.

One day, he's gonna snap over something, and I'm going to go well out of my way to keep it as unpredictable as possible...and when he does, those two are going to have some fun. Pair your bloody siren with a blood knight that gets off on violence. It might end up being up to the other three to reign them in.

Sorry the post is taking a bit. Leddy has had to whip up a lecture of sorts for the fucking babies instead of just hashing it out. I had to narrow down the terrible things he could show them and find the best examples. And by lecture I mean he's pulling out the videos they send him for reference on a case. He's not babying them, lets just say that.

I'm quite interested to see how all their dynamics work out, especially when they start going after things. all sorts of things.

Free to choose! My trio(or duo, out there) are going to be running in blind. I do mean to actually write out the next day, so don't skip ahead too soon now! Waking up, showers, which Brooksie is just a singe moral lapse from planting cameras in, since she'll be pissed he wakes up at the literal crack of dawn so she'll miss her chance to be the little perv she's turning into.

Then Kasimir will go for his morning jog, one of your two might have to accompany him depending on just how booby-trapped the property is. Does Eerie sleep any? It will be interesting to find out, but if she doesn't, probably her. The other two will wake up considerably later...Carrow's old and Brooksie's a college student without any classes to get up for. After that, breakfast and a rousing game of 'this is a gun, point it at the scary thing and pull the trigger' for Brooklyn's benefit. Then another dinner and maybe some briefing. It gives them the maximum opportunity to start getting to know each other before we throw them into the field.

Eerie sleeps during the day usually, since most things are active at night. Not enough coffee on the planet to have her up and attem. But! If he's up that early he'll catch her before bed. A good plan. Give the two of them time to chat without anyone getting in the way. A solid plan.

As for point a gun. Im sure Leddy is the best candidate for teacher. If not for his own mental assurance that she isnt going to shoot someone in the face by accident or play with it. As a question, because I might have a little idea. Can I assume she will have zero idea on how to handle recoil? Just something that might knock my boy down juuust a bit.

That would be neat. His life is structured around the Sikh prayer schedule, which includes ritual cleansing at daybreak, midday, and sunset. A bath is best, but just pouring some water over ones brow will suffice.

I love that idea, a good way for the 'light' and 'dark' to meet. I think what'll be interesting is how they are so similar, yet opposite. Eerie is a monster, but deep down there is a battered human heart that is rough and tumble to try and test others. Where as Kas portrays this Pious man, yet deep down there are issues and darkness that need to be addressed. A good balance me thinks.

I'm liking the 'yin-yang, but not' imagery that evokes, that more of a deconstruction of the usual usage. Things are never black and white. We can try to make them that way, but it's all actually just shades of grey. Kas isn't that good and Eerie isn't that bad, and vice versa.

He's a very complex character, made out of a little bit of this, and a little bit of that rather than any one template. His exact backstory is still coming together in my head, independent of whatever garbage is on his sheet....it'll be interesting, for sure. When/if he opens up about it.

I like that interpretation of it. Somewhere in between them will be a balance of light and dark, now it's just a matter of time to find out how much it'll take to pull that out. The dichotomy of each of them inside, and then the two of them side by side is fascinating. I love it.

These two just feel like...lived in characters, kind of like my Werewolf Twins, Khlia and Lucent, who pop up in entirely separate works but keep as much of their backstory and dynamic as possible until they start getting influenced. Eerie and Landry just play off of each other well, their shared histories setting the stage for what happens now.

They're very lived in. I've been developing them since college I think? They were part of my master project. They've changed so much too. and there's more than just these two. In their storyline, emotions finally get the better of them in a final battle of sorts, and they both end up dead, barely taking the evil with them. It takes another Eerie nearly 3 centuries down the line to actually finish their business. partnered with one of Leddy's descendants. (who is a complete psycho, might I add, and not in a Leddy way.) I just wanted a chance to refine them more, see how they actually play out when they're not locked into their weird ass love situation.

Posted...sorry it took an extra day, but I really didn't like what I first came up with and scrapped it in a fit of perfectionism, super stupid since I don't particularly like this one, but the first version just went deeper into Kas's past than I'd like to get at the moment. Instead, I'll wait for someone to ask so he can say it in his own words. An added bonus is the leaving you blind makes it more likely for one of your pair to unintentionally strike a nerve.

I was gonna wake up Brooke, but I decided to wait until I knew what sort of situation Leddy was in first, since she'll probably be the last to wake up, and may take some yelling at to get her ass in gear. Maybe less of a dad, more of a boss/mentor...if he shows he's got the skills to back up his ego, she'll be more than happy to soak up every lesson she can get, a few riveting stories might catch her attention. When you've got a head like hers, you can't help but be an information junkie, and this is a whole bunch of stuff she knows she was never supposed to learn, which just makes it that much better.

It might take a while for her to see him as a romantic prospect instead of some bitchy old dude, with Kas right there being her future husband, but it's all about burning that slow fuse...at least with those two. For Kas and Eerie, it's less of a slow burn and more of a 'running around with a jar of nitroglycerin, waiting for it to go boom'.

I'm almost done with the reply, but I'm becoming very concerning that I'm about to commit the mortal sin of men-writing-women by having them focus too much on their bodies/appearance. That's totally fair. I found the way around that is instead of focusing on the look of it. Focus on the why. Why does she like that top. What does she like that hair clip. I kinda like the vibe of this being a house where literally everyone is ready to pull a gun on everyone else in a split second if the wrong things are done,or learned. Kas is still gonna kinda want to off Eerie for a while on the grounds that she's an abomination against nature that also just-so-happens to tempt him, so win/win as far as his goal of salvation is concerned. Leddy will probably notice, but is he going to say anything, or just be wary, not wanting to look like he's overprotective? Carrow doesn't trust the any of them and is still looking for the bigger picture in all this, and if he doesn't like what he sees, there could be harsh words and rash action.

And in the middle of it all, Brooklyn, being just the smartest clueless person on earth, missing all the cues and vastly underestimating how play-for-keeps the other four are. I left room for Eerie to run into her before she sleeps, since that'll be the last we see of her until the story reaches night again. I won't spoil too much, but there's a whole mess of projection going on there. His childhood was...not good, not good at all, and he sees reflections of his own emotional scarring jumping out at his from every corner, even today. To him, there are strong people, and there and weak people, and the strong ones abuse the weak ones. It's just how the world works....and in this household, Eerie is the strong 'person'...so what does that make Landry?

Almost done with Brooksie, sorry this one took so long, but I really do enjoy her headspace, and the girl has a lot to think about. In less than three days, she's dropped out of school, moved halfway across the country, been all but told to fuck off by her boy-crush, and now her girl-crush went and blew her overly-optimistic little dream of being supernatural BFF's to smithereens, at least from her naive perspective.

So fun, I'm really wondering how they'll change her, and how she'll change them, a 'team kid' that'll hopefully be imprinted with the best of each of them, without so much of the bad, and in turn, maybe teach them all a little optimism. You've gotta admit, we've got a lot of defeatist sons-of-bitches in this house.

I don't mind the wait, It's always worth it. I don't think eerie will be offended at being a big sister sort with her, not after a little while that is. she's still head bitch, and knows that. But she also doesnt really consider herself part of the group so much as a watcher, observer and guard dog of sorts. (insert picture of an angry little pomeranian instead of anything intimidating. Then turn it into an eldritch horror. That's an accurate summary.)

I know that her positivity/optimism will def rub off on Leddy. Being stuck with Eerie for so long, the sheer workload, which they're about to bear witness to when the chaos of the day kicks off, and well.. his own personal traumas and demons. He's kind of let them eat at his soul. Not much of a glimmer there right now except making sure he takes every evil thing he can down on his way to his grave. In whatever capacity he can. Deep down he misses going out on hunts, And he's not there in the house so much by his own choice. I'll go into that later too.

Now that I think about it, while quite different, I think he has more in common with Kas than I thought previously. IT'll be interesting and a great way to have them butt heads later, but perhaps move past this.... dick contest of sorts.

Yeah, they might end up getting along surprisingly well, but Kasimir plans to keep him at arms length for a while. After all, the eventual murder of his demon 'girlfriend' is still very much the plan, and so any friendship they form is just going to become a regret whenever that goes down.

And...there's Brooke. You can thank my onetime fiend-with-benefits Dae for coining the term 'succubitch', I couldn't help but use it here. The 'shower thoughts' line started as a pervy joke in my head that took life and jumped onto the page, and still doesn't break character at all, because I'm still leaning pretty heavy on the me-at-nineteen characterization, making her the same repressed deviant that I was/still am. I just lost the repression.

Also, she still doesn't believe in magic, just high-order physics she can't adequately explain. I wonder what it'll take to make her reconsider.

Well, there's really nothing more to be said between Kas and Leddy, Carrow's just waiting for a distraction that actually matters, and Brooke is a leaf in the wind, easily dragged along by the currents her surroundings. You can gloss over breakfast and get them outside, no problem, I'd just to know where Leddy's head is at before they get there.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, I definitely held my breath before I finally hit the button, wondering if it was 'too much', but honestly, it's one of the most intrinsically human scenes I've ever written. Of course, it's about a really weird human, but what fun are the normal ones. She's like a 21st century Einstein, complete with all that stuff he got up to with secretaries and grad students that usually don't make it into the biographies.

Ahaha, He's had to for so long. My poor bean. So tough. He'll eventually let up and just not give a shit, but he's use to working with people 2-3 times his size and strength. Not putting up with any shit. He's got enough of that from Eerie. Any meddling by Brooklyn will be more than interesting. Just... leave his family incident out of it. He gets pissy about that. Especially his little sister. Hits a ton of nerves that she probably doesn't want to step on right away. Not while he's armed at least.

Hmn, some info though. He ended up moving out of area, so that'll be interesting. Used his mother's surname (Reed) for a while too, since it's his grandmother's name and there was a significant bit of drama revolving around said family incident. His grades suffered, but test scores were fantastic when he needed them to be. Basketball team, his was often disqualified for bad behavior, but whenever they didn't fuck that up, they placed top with phenomenal numbers. Leddy was a strong one, but only played when they needed him, a last resort of sorts. Probably because at that point teamwork was not his strong suit. (It still isn't, but he's trying at least. XD) Regardless. Find his high school and she'll have some fodder for sure. Especially since he was the only one to survive a particularly nasty attack on his group. Again.

She could probably find his second oldest brother who'd died before the whole family disappearance by searching through town records. Find out what they use to grow in particular and the animals they use to sell. Hell, Just even looking around the house they'd probably stumble upon a picture or two of them all.

There was his Father, Camilien (Cam) Benoit, Where he gets his build. Tall and lean. But by no means skinny like him. He was darker haired. Auburn ish. So red undertones. It's also where Leddy gets his eyes. He won't be in too many, but a family shot maybe. Stored amongst the books and such. Or online in an article about their disappearance.

Mother was Mary-Rose Reed. A rather beautiful young lady compared to her husband. Blonde with grey eyes if I'm not mistaken. Fiery as all hell. Dig through the cupboard of recipe cards and you'll find her writing quite a bit. In pictures too. Lots of times more than Mr. Benoit.

The siblings were evenly spaced for the most part. A pretty big family. 4 boys and a girl. Eli died early due to an accident as I said early, 'Falling out of a tree'. It was about a year before the big incident. Speaking about the big incident, from what the papers would have said, they simply disappeared under horrific circumstances. Blood everywhere and a traumatized little boy. No bodies found, just little Landry. Or that's what the police say. When they were all taken, The ages would have listed like this.

She's not quite that socially inept, but it'll definitely be in the back of her head. They have coming from large families in common, but difference is, hers is still alive. Working on Carrow's perspective first...he's already taken a shine to Eerie, but not for the reasons she might have intended. She's the only person in the house he doesn't think still belongs in diapers. They'll have to sit down for some real-talk about how this going to work out, keynotes will be Brooklyn's safety or lack thereof in this business, how to keep the muzzle on Kas so things don't get messy, and how to get Landry to play ball with the rest of them, since right now he's treating it like pulling teeth. Food for thought.

I've got a few of eerie's outfits planned out, it made me laugh when Brooke picked shorts, because when she's out on a hunt, she usually wears thigh high socks and shorts. I'm hoping to do something with the families later on. Carrow's ex is a magnificent piece of work in all the best and worst ways, and then there's his three kids. His eldest daughter could actually be a character in her own right. And Brooke's got siblings galore. I'm thinking seven is a good number, not too unbelievable if you factor in the twins.

Ahhh I love these assumptions~! Their slowly going from dick competition to toleration will be good. (If they get that far) I think what'll be interesting is when he reveals he didn't grow up rich. His grandmother played the insurance game well and had the deed to the farm and 2 other properties. Outside of assets, they weren't doing that well. Just kinda scraping by. Right up until her death the boy and the witch were running credit card scams like there was no tomorrow, then he had the cash to invest in things and he found he's quite good with the money he has. XD As for them being dead, don't tell him that, You'll get an earful of conspiracy and it's not entirely unfounded.

Looking forward to seeing all these families brought out. Even my two dingbats'. Though, Brooklyn's seem very normal and so there I can see such interest. Especially if she does get to go and visit. Carrow's Family too, It'll be interesting to bring them in to mess with things once relationships and roles are established.

Unless you don't read(and I know you do), it's pretty clear where I stand with Nat. She made my life bearable when I was in a spot where it very much wouldn't have been otherwise, so she has my undying gratitude there. We got up to fun times back in the day.

And Eerie might mean it as teasing....but will Brooklyn take it that way? She reads wayyy too much into everything, in case you haven't noticed...and she has a tendency towards pushing boundaries whenever they're presented. As for messing with the rest of them, there are a lot of buttons in both of my guys that could end up pressed doing that. Kasimir generally thinks in one of two ways, either totally black and white, or shades of red. Eerie bad, Brooklyn good. Carrow'll just be overprotective...and just a bit old-fashioned.

Someone who gives a shit! I've been waiting for that for way too long. Our most prolific work was an urban-fantasy in the same vein as ours...that for some reason, I decided to name after Dio lyrics. Don't Write in Starlight (https://role-player.net/forum/showthread.php?t=38772). There's also a sequel where the protagonists deal with marital problems, called Time Stand Still. You can to read that if you can make it through the jumbled mess that was the first one. We also had a more...let's say intimate, game that went down through PM, but if you want a look at that you'll have to ask her for it yourself, she made a word document out of it that I've long since lost from computer to computer, and am still too embarrassed to ask for another copy of. Think fifty shades of grey, only with a mob-affiliated sadomasochist instead of just a whiny douchebag who wouldn't know what 'dom' meant to save his life.

Working on a reply now...Brooke might surprise Landry. She remembers everything and plays a lot of video games, so she knows her way around a firearm in the abstract.. It's just that now she gets some hands-on experience.

That everyone would just nod along and be cool with the admission of intentionally torturing a living being in order to find out how to kill it cheaper?

Carrow doesn't give a shit, same old, same old, U.S. government has been doing it since forever. Trinity Tests, MKUltra, Guantanamo. Somebody has to suffer so the job can get done better. But Kasimir has himself a self-righteous streak when it comes to purely one-sided abuse, and Brooke is...well, she's a straight up good person, in most respects. I do love the tension though.

That is probably my fault for making it seem far more weak and feeble because I'm shit at describing monsters. The thing is basically a Rake. It's very much alive and kicking. He figured it was his best option besides well.. The witch upstairs. She plays just as nicely as he does, she's just sweeter about it.

Though, to be fair he's killed enough of them that to him they're no longer a humanoid thing as much as they are a gigantic pain in the ass. It's not an animal, it's a mess to be taken care of. Not to mention he's got a terrible case of 'An eye for an eye'. This thing left people half alive as it ate them? It can take a few bullet holes and burns with holy water. Besides, in his opinion, It's more in distress from the sun than his tests. Can't forget he's been doing this since he was around 17 18 ish. So well over a decade. He's had to do far... far worse.

Oh yeah, it all makes sense...through a lens with a wider angle. But I've resolved to write these three in the more narrow view, defined only by their experiences rather than whatever I might think or know. I do enjoy being a challenge, though. I'm sure Leddy had some redeeming qualities, it's just that he's so set in his ways that it's difficult for him to show them.

And trust me, it wouldn't have mattered how you had described the skinwalker....they would have all still reacted in roughly the same way. If it was barreling down on them with murder in it's eyes, anything they did to to make it go away would be self-defense. But this was just a harmless thing in a cage, starving and suffering. There's nothing it could do now that would be any less than revenge for how it had been treated.

That and it's been all of... less than 24 hours around the poor bastard. Who's admittedly as lost in teaching them as they are being there. Those redeeming qualities will come out later. You have to deal with the wall of ass for a bit. It's there for a reason. But, They'll get there. As you said before. With Leddy, things are always a very, very slow burn.

She's very...malleable, at the moment, so pretty much anything should be tolerable as long as it's relevant to the task at hand...and do remember, she's very susceptible to physical sensation. Kasimir and Carrow might have some of their own opinions to share. Kas is still waiting for a gun of his own...I wonder how hard it'll be for Leddy to hand him one, knowing there's about a 50/50 chance he'll get shot in the gut for his trouble.

I'm loving the Kasimir dynamic...a devil and an angel on his shoulders, and the only thing they have in common is wanting to ride him like a mechanical bull. Most men's fantasies, his nightmare, because either he succumbs to temptation and fucks a demoness, or he....succumbs to temptation and 'ruins' a sweet bastion of purity. I expect lots of kissing and touching and teasing and apologizing before Brooke ever gets to do the deed for real, poor girl.

Leddy's gonna have to be very careful with Brooke. She's fragile, and probably worth more to the Watchers than the rest of them combined. She might have delusions of grandeur sometimes, but that doesn't mean she isn't correct in her assessment, at least some of the time.

Maybe, I'm trying to avoid 'planning' as much as possible, outside of particular moments and scenes that I think would be cute that I'll have to wait for the right time and place for. But basically, it'll be a three part conflict. The conflict between the characters and one another, the conflict between them and the monsters, and the bigger game going on above their pay-grade.

There are a lot of factors going into that, but mostly the fact that upstairs is convinced that Landry is gonna work himself to death, and that his secrets and expertise will go with him. And if that wasn't bad enough, without him keeping her under control, Eerie will just do what comes natural, murder and mayhem. Avoiding those outcomes is what they're trying for...on top of figuring out what the hell keeps getting their agents killed left and right.

But all of that will come down in hints and clues and reveals down the line. Right now, they're a just a very dysfunctional little family trying to get along.

Another little bit could be they're tired of one of their better hunters being in charge of resources. He was absolutely fantastic in the field. Not a lot of mess unless Eerie caused it, and even then he'd wrap it up without much help. With a new face there, It could be time to send the 'old man' out to his death. For that reason exactly. He knows far too much, and he's not going to co-operate forever. Especially with a little bit of trouble I have planned down the line.

As much as I don't like planning. We do have to figure out what they'll fight and when. at least at a monster of the day level. I think something fairly simple that can cause a shit ton of damage, like a Wendigo will be a good first one? Reminiscent of Leddy's first hunt, and eerie would revel in it. It's a good starting point really. Not all that human, Easy enough to kill with fire. Also a great way to tear her apart and let her show just how nasty she can get. Fantastic to show the boy's what they're in for, and give Leddy and little Brooke about a week alone to get use to one another.

Considering the freaky ass things I've seen and heard in my area alone, its a valid interest. Lord forbid I hit sasquatch corner. Again. Just ship them up to Canada then. A long drive following eerie on her god damn bike. Washington state at least. Lots of rural fuckery to get up to there. I know that from experience.

Ghost sounds fantastic. Get the rock salt and holy water. Did I mention that the bastard has jugs of pope water sitting around like nothing? I mean, you get one little vial and it can last forever. Probably blackmailed someone to get that. I can't wait to see him fucked with in that regard, it'll be fun. Leddy is far more fun when it comes to ghosts. Perhaps that's a good one for those two to do later on. Mano e mano.

Ps. Don't think I've mentioned it, but the man does have a dog. A big ol hound dog. It's just off with a local guy on a hunt, since they are close ish... ish. And he knows that fuckery is going on at the moment. Once everyone leaves, it'll be eye opening to see how different he is depending on who's around. Not nearly as cold as he seems. Might be a weakness of mine xD.

Oh, my area has it's own little mythos...Kentucky is a strange and beautiful place...damn shame it's chock-full of Meth and Republicans in equal quantity, or it would be a whole lot better. Washington or Oregon would be good for a first outing...I'm guessing Landry's compound is located somewhere in the middle, like Kansas or something?

Oh, and since our temporal pace is going to be pretty fluid, should be start using a date system to keep track of when events take place? I started doing it with Nat and it really helped sort out later confusion when re-reading. I'm thinking it's early fall right now, August or September, so we'll have a while for them to all get comfortable together before we do the 'Halloween Special'...I'm guessing All Hallows Eve is a major working day for people in this business.

That'll round us into the Holiday Season, in which we can start rolling out the families. No way Brooke's missing the holidays, and Carrow will want to fulfill his obligation to 'be a dad' at least occasionally. And maybe rub having been right all along right in his exes face.

Leddy's closer to Wyoming I think? as a Canadian I know very little about state to state besides what google will teach me. Somewhere between mountains and farmland. The only bit I really know is north of Spokane (where my American family is from-ish) so that's kinda what I have pictured. But he'd be a bit further south I think and more off towards the east. So I figured that'd make sense. But wherever you feel is best could work.

A timeline sounds bloody fantastic~! Help keep my scattered ass in line XD. Late August works as well. Give her a few months before she has to put away her bike and sit backseat. Not a happy time for my little binch. She hates riding in a vehicle. For... fairly obvious reasons. But she'll tolerate it. Mostly. Leading into Halloween sounds great. We'll have to find a special monster for that. Something that'll pull the other two out into the field.

The holidays are a sore spot for both the witch and the boy, so it'll be interesting to get them roped into something, especially with Brooklyn being probably quite pushy on the matter.

I've a firm philosophy that you can really put characters through anything, as long as there are some moments of peace and connection that isn't terrible. I'm probably just used to being a, shall we say, 'literary class' or two above my partners and having to dumb it down a little, but in a purely technical sense, you've got me beat. I usually don't notice clunky grammar or poor word choice as much as I do when I'm writing with you, because I've got something really good to compare them to staring at me from above and below.

It's a good thing, helps me learn how to write less bad and keeps my ego in check.

I made me edit, but it's basically a whole new post tacked on. Now everyone finally has their motivations....how do you feel about Brooklyn's. Doomed to fail, or glimmer of hope?

Sounds like a plan. Want to just message Leddy's opener to me and do what we did the other night? You post, I reply, and then you translate whatever Carrow said or did into Leddy's perspective?

Also, little thing I've been doing that maybe you noticed. It's all in the name. How a character thinks about and adresses them can be a really good defining character cue. Right now, most of the time, Eerie isn't just 'Eerie' as in a person's name she's 'the Eerie', as in a creature, something different. And 'Carrow' is the actual guy...aging, burnt out, cracking jokes because what else is there to do but laugh? While 'The Agent' is the persona, and 'the Company Man' is the backstory that turned him into that guy.

And, of course, 'Kas', 'the Sikh' and 'the Khalsa' are all very different states of Kasimir's mind, representing the extremes between the blood knight and the holy paladin(sorry to DnD it up). 'The Sikh' is the middle ground, the ethno-cultural group he belongs to, weather he practices the faith or not.

Yeah! what I'll probably do is send you a portion of the starter, once they've gotten outside and such. I find with conversation, as long as you don't delve into the thought much, you don't have to change perspectives all that much. Keep it relegated to action, and it'll flow like conversation. Not quite like fighting where it needs to be in the other's perspective. At least that's what I've found :)

And Carrow's a pretty guarded guy, so he's not going to be throwing out any readable cues unless it's exactly what he wants Leddy to think he thinks. You can get the Agent out of the game, but you can't take the game out of the Agent. He's actually really fun to write, and him and Brooklyn play off each other so well with the 'surrogate dad' dynamic.

Yep....over the next couple days, I'm gonna have to go back a change some posts to mold the characters to fit the personas they've picked up, even in such a short time. Mostly the way Kas thinks about things, since his backstory found me instead of me finding it...but therein lies the problem.

I'm kinda at a loss as to how to go with him, because what he came to be was a coerced, of course, child prostitute forced to become whatever-the-hell-he-needed-to-be in order to escape that life, which meant dangerous, connected, and useful. Too useful to ever get pimped out again, and too strong to be made a victim of. I entirely understand why that's not a place that we want to go...but..any thoughts there?

To be honest, im not sure how you'll change him. I'd do some research, do some thinking while we're working on this massive post. Im sure it'll be massive at least. There's much to talk about. Go back to basics. Start with the key themes you want to tackle with him. I'd REALLY prefer we avoid the child abuse in a.. Certain manner. Its just not somewhere im comfortable going.

Hell. Sexual abuse can be a thing in his past, but perhaps from inside his military service. Im sure there could lots of issues that could be modified and such.

For now, I'll just keep him in the present, moment-to-moment, leave the whole sad story firmly in the province of vague allusions. It's not like he talks enough to open up about it in any detail.

I'm afraid I might've spoiled the character for you a bit, since no matter what is or isn't said, we'll both be thinking on how his trauma made him how he is.

There will be plenty of other elements to him....wonder how Eerie will handle his irrational jealousy and constant need for reassurance. It'll only be new and cute for so long...

Eh, Whole family is all sorts of stress. She desperately wants things to be like when we were kids... even though my brother and I are 26 and 23 respectively. So she had us over for dinner. I offered to cook, I offered to pick something up. I know she only cooks from a box and 99% of canned pasta sauces have peppers. At 25 I developed a sensitivity to the flesh of peppers. Dried skins are ok. Chili flakes are kind of okay. But actually peppers? Frick. I'll be sick for days. (as said by today)

Then why did you eat it? If she knows you have an issue, and ignores that, that's pretty much a free pass to say 'fuck you' and eat whatever else happens to be in the house. See, we haven't had dinner together in years. Mom's gone through a tough time, this was our last chance for a dinner together before my brother goes out to get a 2 inch by 2 inch by 5 inch section of his brain taken out. So... I don't shy much from blood, Given most of my characters aren't fully human and henceforth, can take a bit of damage. The drama that comes with it is delicious.

Yeah, those are extenuating circumstances, for sure. Like, what are you gonna do? Still, I wouldn't put up with it, family or no, the line is drawn where my physical health is concerned. But I do get it.

Jess is a class act, doesn't kiss and tell, didn't say much besides that she could see why we might have fun together. So far she's been right. That's a fancy blade....me, I stick to basics. Box Cutters...finest edge you can get cheap, very precise, which means less chance of making a very dangerous mistake. In a more literary sense, I try to mold my more...exhilarating writing around my partners comfort zone, so if you go further, I'll go further....and Kas and Eerie are just a match made in heaven for that game of chicken.

Leddy and Brooke will be a much more...nuanced dance. She's prototyped off of a younger me without medication in play, which means scatterbrained, overly curious, and bi-polar as all get out. Sure to be a treat for your boy Red to try to hands. Can't wait for the moment where he suddenly sees her as a woman instead of just a girl. She'll test boundaries...slowly.

See, and I'll take one for the team if it means keeping morale up. Which is very much what we need right now. I'm just thankful it was yesterday and not today. I mean. Damn, I'd be dead at work tomorrow had I not planned things so well. thankfully hubby is picking up the slack for me. cleaning house and doing laundry since i am.. incapacitated.

She's a fantastic partner. One of the first I met on here a few years back. She understands my need to take a break from time to time due to life. We've done one of my fave stories so far. A glorious medieval fantasy. I've probably mentioned it before XD. Box cutters are great an all, but I like a little more wear and tear out of my gear. Especially if it's an investment. Oh, and is my santoku ever an investment x.x'

I tend to be the same way, Only due to my partner's comfort level. It'll be a fun game of chicken for sure, especially with those two. Though, For me I might fight more enjoyment out of Brooke and Leddy in that matter. The slow burn, The confusion, the slow growth of feels and ACK. Goodness I could gush about it forever.

So, how's your life partner feel about this whole deal? I've gotten just about every reaction imaginable from romantic partners, from utter disinterest to casual teasing, legitimate interest in the writing, to irrational jealousy. It's an...unusual hobby, that's for sure, but I'm not giving it up for anyone.

We've got so very much crazy going on, I don't know where to start. Mostly it's just a matter of what effect each character has on the others...how will Leddy feel about Kas taking his place as Eerie's latest pet project, given the tension between them already. And Brooke, oh...poor Brooke. Her libido is all over the place, and she'd going to have tension, close calls, and false starts with just about everyone besides Carrow. Poor old bastard's gonna have to try to help her navigate through it, but mostly it'll be a matter of who'd where when she's in the mood for what. But for all her body tells her it's time to get some action, she'd got the whole 'overstimulation' thing making anything past first base progressively more difficult. Which is exactly where I was at that age...bi, kinky, people catching my eye left and right, but prone to turning into a nervous wreck the second fantasy started becoming reality. It's a...unique time to be a person, for sure, so much fodder for drama there.

My hubby is super supportive. He knows my writing is important to me and encourages me. Hell, he's my editor 90% of the time. We've had some good laughs over it. The one thing he struggles with is reading the smut, but that's because he is like... Ah. The purest of beans. All flustered and pink. But he encourages it none the less! We've had many talks about it.

Oh, there will be tension like crazy. My goodness. Leddy is... the least of my concerns. When it comes to these sorts of things he'd rather just walk away from it to keep from making a scene. Frustrated for sure, but it ain't his choice because, as much as she teases, she's not his woman and he knows it. I'd be far more worried about little Brooke. (someone can be as possessive as a dude)

I'm sure there will be lots of those false starts and stops. Far too many. It's a bit of the opposite issue with Red. He doesn't deal so well with the getting to second base, but once you get him past that he's pretty gung ho. Doesn't deal all that well with teasing and affection. I blame the witch for her constant harassment. Leaves him 200% unsure of what the hell to do.

Eerie on the other hand. Man, Half the things she hunts that aren't like... obviously inhuman, she seduces into a back room them blows their brains out. Not exactly subtle, but it works. Kas is in for it. She'll tease him and tease him and tease him to prove the point that he isn't as pious as he makes himself out to be. That's not entirely her fault, but we can get to that issues later. way later. It'll turn heads. I'm excited to fuck with the other four hard core with that.

Reading....it's good, if you were writing a novel, but as an RP post it's frustrating as hell.Brooke literally just calmed down, and now you've thrown all that at her....there's no way of them having a moment. I also didn't want to see demon-cat-thing introduced with Leddy or anyone else there to color her perception, because I wanted her to try to make friends with it. Sorry I went to bed early last night, or id have center all this then and given us the chance to talk it out...but now I'm at work and have no idea where to start.

What I'm looking at now is gonna take like five paragraphs of reaction before I even hit the present moment, and what's the point of her saying anything to Leddy, try to fix his math, if he's already given up on that and moved onto something else?

Sorry, bit calmer now....I'll work with it if I have to, but I was sorta hoping that as the characters thinned out, with two out of commission and Carrow off to bed, there'd be room for some one-on-one time. Forgot there was a sixth kicking around.

Its totally alright! Really xD I'm not the type to get super irate if something doesn't work. There are times where I struggle to work through things, but things like this, where I pushed things a bit too far, are totes changeable. Some one on one downtime works well for sure. Working on my reply now, sorry it's taking so long but I'm on the edge of finishing it. But after it goes up you're going to have to read over and make sure nothing I'm assuming Brooke got a look at contradicts whatever you've already got set in your head.

I planned this 'peek' mostly because it means Leddy has to do at least 90% less explaining in the future. You can just define a situation in the out-of-character part of your posts and Brooke will already know that, without him having to spell it out in dialogue, leaving room for more character-relevant interaction instead of exposition. Kasimir's straightforward to write because he pointedly doesn't know shit and just takes things as they come. Carrow's fun to write because he's reacting to shit as it's revealed. Brooklyn will be better to write if it can be assumed that she already knows shit. If that makes sense...I dunno, these long days are kickin' my ass.
