Arapegol is at the age of 26 years at the time of this account. He is human, mantype mostly, a quarter elf by descent, a male. He is tall and slim, reaching a little more than six feet in height, with muscular arms and agile legs with strong feet that would never need footwear if they are not available, no facial hair with his tan and yet smooth skin while the head hair is strait, dark blond, with its length coming short of the shoulders. His shirt and trousers under his leathery coat show his preference for green and blue that he would wear. His feet are covered in leathery covering that resemble moccasins. He perceives things in dim light twice as well as the usual mantype humans, hides much more easily than the other human people, with great agility at climbing beyond normal ability, and highly dexterous.

Arapegol is highly proficient at archery, and charming easily with skillful songs, and having knowledge to thrive traveling on water, with devices or vehicles or needing to swim. He is shy at first but bonding with others after exposure to those who are trustworthy. He dislikes any food not from plants, including fungi like mushrooms, offensive people, and aggressive wild carnivores among the wildlife. He likes any sweet fruits, nuts of various kinds, salads, vegetable soups, good social times, or solitary time, good music, and also gentle animals which he likes to befriend.

Arapegol is useful for recognizing edibles which grow around the land. He can sing well, skillfully charming others. He can commune with spirits, and know things about places, and things about the past, and have limited ability to know some things yet to come.

In the faraway land of Tenoba, a number of young men were hired a couple of years ago by a high wizard, Diragusher, who meant to have the control of that city Erpedoben continue, in the wake of divisive challengers causing instability to it. Those young men had passed tests, that limited their membership to the most agile and athletic in the community. When that was found to not be enough, that wizard selected those most trusted to his cause to carry small powerful artifacts, orbs, or rods, each with defining ability for those using them. And they were trained for supernatural activity. But lately there was more trouble heard of abroad. Some would have to be sent off from that community, for dealing with these things, including Arapegol with his friend Eyriconer.

Arapegol carried a medallion of exotic metal on him which identifies his order, that appointed gang. He carried a rod, with a glowing tip, freshly acquired and useful for alteration, and an orb, freshly acquired and useful for teleportation. He had his bag of coins on his belt, and carried the bag with the orb, the rod, a few food items, and a blanket adequate for comfort wherever he might stop.

Arapegol left that city of Erpedoben mostly under control with the supervision of that wizard, commissioned by him and accompanied by Eyriconer of the appointed gang, a slightly younger though large and wider man, in their travel out to where the main road went by the primal forest of deep dark spaces where no people had ever gone. Here there had been disappearances lately, and they were actually the second two sent out from the wizard this way. They would both need the devices they were trusted with, to deal with whatever danger they found in that area.

A monster surprised them on the road where it went along the edge of the forest, shooting a tentacle out and withdrawing Eyriconer before either could react, but Arapegol shot at the monster presumably killing it. But Eyriconer did not respond to his calls and came out no more from there.

After a journey some way beyond the Primal Forest, Arapegol came to another city. He saw an inn, and came to it. Arapegol came in, looked around, and walked to the bar, letting out his grief. He came to some sense, he inquired and received directions to where he could by maps, to help him get his bearing. At this time there a was an attempted robbery on a carriage as it was pulling out. As Arapegol heard noises from that as he was coming to the door of the place where he had bought maps, he saw one of the gang there about to attack a female elf riding her mount from behind, he used the teleportation to cast that attacker far away. He ran to where the robbers were surrounding the carriage, and he cast more far away with teleportation. But just then as one who was leading the robbers held up some crystal gem claiming it was a powerful artifact he would threaten those there with, there was another there with a strange weapon that shot right at that artifact, and it shattered, and that other shot that robber until the robber fell. Other robbers had fallen too. But at the shattering of the artifact a supernatural event happened right then, and the minds of a number of people in that area were swept into others bodies whose minds had also moved to others. The mind of Arapegol went to the body of the woman within the carriage where the robbery was attempted. Others there were affected, some of them the player characters in that unfinished roleplaying scenario, who with their minds in new bodies had to find their original bodies. And so the party of player characters, after the deputies of the law came and there was an account of the events and a reward for dealing with the leading robber, needed to find a safe place for where they would spend the night. They were going to choose a place for themselves. Arapegol though had used the rod of alteration to make a duplicate of his own body on the woman's body his mind was in, went quickly on though to hurry back on the road to his home city Erpedoben, after the rod of alteration was stolen away from him. Along the way he found his friend Eyriconer who had been knocked unconscious but had recently crawled out from that Primal Forest, where he lay along that road, and he helped him up and along the way where he returned to their city, where he was brought to his home. Arapegol went to see the high wizard Diragusher who had appointed them to go.

The wizard Diragusher told him he had information on the artifact that could reverse the exchange of minds, which could be found, and gave instruction to Arapegol for going with more power he would hold. He would have to go back north past the Primal Forest, on his way to seek and acquire that artifact for the reversal, and where he would likely find those characters who had also been altered.

Arapegol, now with more ability to shoot supernatural missiles, was sent to go north from Diodun, the location of which was pointed out to him, further on beyond Quadick where Arapegol and others nearby had been supernaturally changed, but as he did not want to go alone another young man, Iperanton, who was apprentice to Diragusher the high wizard in Erpedoben, was appointed to go and assist Arapegol. He first went to see his friend Eyriconer, to see how he was doing after having his head hit hard and being unconscious for a while, just the other day. He found Eyriconer resting with good hope for recovery. Arapegol then told him that he was being sent with this other young man from those under the high wizard Diragusher, to find where the amulet that could reverse the effect on Arapegol and others that were in Quadick, which had been stolen from the wizard Jearius when he was killed, would now be. So, he explained, could not come and check on Eyriconer again for a long time, though he hoped for his betterment.

After this he left Eyriconer, and with Iperanton who now went with him Arapegol again carrying his bag with his items and a sharp blade on him that he knew how to use, and Iperanton similarly equipped, they left the city of Erpedoben on the road that went past the dangerous Primal Forest.

Arapegol warned Iperanton, who had heard this before, that one monster, which lashed out at one passing by with a long tentacle, was defeated, but there certainly could be another, or more, in that Primal Forest where people did not dare to enter. They were very guarded as they came nearer to it.

Jaydeen, formerly a tall half-elf now in the body of an elven woman by the name of Nasa, wondered through the primal forest with they musket at the ready. He - She had been with the rest of the changed party when they were dragged into the forest by an unseen monster.
Struggling, they were separated in the ensuing chaos, and Jaydeen was left on their own. Already they had to deal with a few smaller monsters that were easily taken care of, though the loud gunshots were sure to attract the attention of more beasts.

Do to being attacked and dragged about, they were scrapped, cut and bruised if not disheveled.
Their small frame breathed heavily as she hefted her gun looking for what might be the way out of this forest.

Arapegol remembered the long tentacle that had suddenly lashed out from the Primal Forest and had snatched Eyriconer back in within a moment. They walked along the road which went near it. When Iperanton asked Arapegol why they might not go further from the forest off this road on the other side, Arapegol pointed out that thorny vegetation grew thickly on that side and a great way out from it. A few bare spots showed holes and Arapegol was sure it was a habitat of many snakes. So as they went near the thickly growing forest, Arapegol watched for any movement, ready to shoot immediately whenever he saw any movement at the edge of the forest. He would not willingly leave anything to chance, one previous monster brought down would surely leave others of that kind in the same forest.

Arapegol and Iperanton did not talk the whole while that they walked that near to the edge of the Primal Forest along this lately unused road from Erpedoben as quietly as they could. It went a long while for their walk there, as they watched the trees growing close together at the edge for any movement from among them, to respond quickly, and nearly an hour later they went along the road where it was leaving the Primal Forest behind. Ahead was a wide open countryside, the side of the road where the Primal Forest was here had a few scattered groves of trees clustered in places, further from the road. And between very distant hills by the horizon buildings of a distant community were just seen.

Arapegol said, "Quadick is ahead, the city I had been at where I had this effect fall on me. There are others there who were affected, I think we should go there and see if we find any of them."

Iperanton agreed to this, as Arapegol was a man who was oriented to be helpful, and his seeking out those who he knew would need help was to be expected. They continued then along the road, both of them glad to be leaving the Primal Forest behind them, without any attack having been made against them. There would still be the long walk going on, and turning to where the way led to Quadick. No other travelers were seen along this way.

Jaydeen took another blind shot at the thing chasing him - her. She was with the others when they were ambushed by tentacles protruding from the forest, dragging the party in. She was able to keep her wits and cut her way free with her shortsword, but her now short elvish body wasn't doing so well being dragged through the dense forest and her forehead was bleeding.

After taking her shot, she ran back the way she thought she came, pulling out her pistols as she did. She started to breath heavy from the exertion as what sounded like a hulking mass followed somewhere behind her in the shadowed forest.

It was not such a great idea for all that party to go so directly toward Erpedoben without more preparation. Even Arapegol had spoken of the monster within Primal Forest which had been encountered. Now they were separated, and Jaydeen in the body of the female elvish witch did not then learn that the others escaped, but out the other way from that Primal Forest, where they were still lost.

Jaydeen saw the light between trees at the edge of the forest, finally, where the edge was a little to the north of where the road went closest to it. Jaydeen then turned daringly to what monster or monsters were behind the elvish body Jaydeen was in. Jaydeen saw the horror then, several mounds of the rotmonsters, with ropey tentacles reaching out from them. These that some called ropers were the strangler rotmonsters, distant members of the same group that offal rotmonsters were in. Jaydeen quickly ran out from the edge of the Primal Forest there.

Turning quickly while still heading away from the forest as fast as their short legs could carry them, they shot two more times with their pistols at the ropers.
Blood continued to trickle from their forehead as they tried to outpace the monsters.

They tripped and tried to catch themselves, their half loaded gun falling just in front of them. The road was not far off.
"Help!" They shouted as they scrambled for their gun, the long tentacles of the ropers getting closer as the scrambled to finish reloading and put another shot into the beast.

She continued running, starting to feel the pain throughout their body from being dragged into the forest in the first place.
"Somebody help me!" She screamed.

The Primal Forest was a little behind where Arapegol and Iperanton now came to and were just starting to feel safe then from a possible attack. Arapegol said, "That was a cry for help, wasn't it? Did you not hear that?"

Iperanton said, "I was not sure. But we can't go in to the Primal Forest. How is anyone in there? We were already in danger, and we would lose our lives rather than save anyone in there, where they shouldn't have gone."

"I am sure I heard it coming from right there at that corner, just within the edge of the forest. I can't let someone die in there because I did nothing. You stay here to cover me. I will rush right in among those outer trees right there. I will help whoever is right there to bring them out, and shoot at any monster there if I have to. I will try coming out right away then, hopefully with whoever is there that I could help, and you here being ready to shoot any monster or a tentacle from one coming after us." Arapegol did not wait to explain any more, he hurried right away, with his blade already ready in his left hand, and the orb in his right hand, while the bag he had brought was left near to where Iperanton still stood.

Arapegol still with great worry passed between outer trees at that corner of the forest from which place was as far as the forest reached toward the road. His eyes adjusted quickly, and he saw the female elvish witch, which he saw right away was someone familiar, stumbling toward him, as one tentacled rotmonster yet that near behind her was reaching out with one long ropy tentacle. "This way!" Arapegol shouted at her. He moved aside to let her continue past him, and he slashed at the tentacle coming rapidly right behind with his blade. Knowing it would take too long to use teleportation to cast the rotmonster far into the interior, he sprung back as the rotmonster waved the slashed tentacle wildly about. Arapegol hurried out after that female elvish witch he had seen before, toward Iperanton waiting there.

Jaydeen hobbled past him as fast as she could, "Thank goodness you're here," she breathed in a bit of pain as she did her best to continue, "I thought I was dead."
They continued to stumble onto the clear rode to the other man before falling to their knees in exhaustion.

She blinked for a moment. "Oh, the others. Klara, Nasa, Gasha," she said, "No." she began to shed tears and cry into her hand for losing the others with her.

Arapegol hurried out from between the outer close-growing trees, the dark interior vividly still on his mind, with the dark branches reaching out, where he saw dark squirrels and dark birds watching what was happening within. The strangler rotmonsters were horrible mounds, each like a pile, the long ropey tentacles reaching out from them. It was a place no humans should go.

"Klara, Nasa, and Gasha were there?!" He remembered them from briefly meeting them the other day, meeting the same disaster to them that day that he had found to himself. He had come to have Klara's body, and only was in this body again with duplicating his that Klara was in, with use of the rod of alteration he had then, before it was snatched away from him. And had they now all perished. In that forest with the horrible creatures they must have. "Did you see them perish?" Arapegol almost yelled, to the female elvish witch in which the mind of Jaydeen now resided.

"No, I don't know what happened." She said still a little dazed, "We got separated."

She tried to rack her brain for what happened and shivered at the tentacles snatching everyone and dragging everyone into the darkness.
Her forehead was still bleeding as she sat there for a minute.

Arapegol took an unused cloth napkin from a pocket, and came to this one appearing elvish but with that Jaydeen's mind within, and said, "We need to have that injury on your head covered, let me put this over it. We cannot just stay here. The high wizard Diragusher who appointed me, and Iperanton here also, had us sent to find Diodun, in a location beyond Quadick. I hope those others were not killed off, I hope they got away, but we must move on and not remain here in this area by the Primal Forest. There was a wizard from whom that artifact that changed us was stolen, and there was another artifact like it, and that can change us all back, this must be found. If those others survived, the bodies for them and for us can be restored, if they did not, I am not as sure, but that was a very powerful artifact that changed us with that great effect, and there were others in that town of Quadick that were effected as well besides those of us who first met, you know. All people who were changed should be changed back if the way for that can be found. Let us go on now."

Jaydeen took a second before nodding and shakily standing up.
"I fear I may need some help," she said weakly, "This body isn't made for taking hits."
She gestured to lean on someone. Once she had some support, travel was a little slow, as her injuries made it difficult to move all that quickly.

Arapegol answered, when he had gathered up his things and they started going, "Of course. I don't mind assisting you much of that way, and Iperanton can do so whenever I might tire of it. We can see where the city of Quadick is, over there where some bit of it is seen between those hills. I could get there from here in little over two hours myself, but I can walk very fast. I do slow for going with others, as I have for Iperanton, and we will go at a pace that is gradual enough for you. It would take us most of this day to get there, this way. We would then need someplace to stay for the night, then. But you know the places in Quadick, you can help us with finding where we could stop, there. Right? And if you recover well enough, you might want to go on with us to help find that other artifact that had belonged to that wizard from whom that other one that affected us was violently taken."

They walked on at a gradual pace that Jaydeen in this elfin body could manage, still with Arapegol helping to bear it.

Arapegol grew more curious after walking in silence quite a while with helping Jaydeen in the female elf body, and he asked, "Were you and those with you on the way to Erpedoben? Or what were doing coming close to the Primal Forest? You are well away from Quadick where I last saw you, and those others you told me had come all this way with you."

07-31-2021, 07:36 PM
Jaydeen nodded, "Yeah, we knew there was a wizard there that might be able to help us." she said, "but it looks like you were ahead of us on that."

She continued to lean on Arapegol for support as they continued to walk, clutching her side as they did as the bruise left there from slamming into trees ached. "I hope we can find them again."

GodlyD&D
08-01-2021, 01:31 AM
Arapegol answered, "I really hope we find those who came with you escaped without harm to them, and even any others there who were changed as we were, without understanding why. Any could be assured we will do all we can for all who were changed this way to be restored. I was changed as you all were, but only have the duplicate now of my original body, through the rod of alteration I had carried until that little hellfiend there with that carriage stole it right from where I carried it and disappeared with it. I would give back Klara's original body if it is possible, while alteration is needed for it, when I would get my original body back. The wizard having the artifacts with that power was killed, and that man you fought had stolen that one. The location of the other is not known, but the wizard had been a little further on from Diodun, beyond Quadick north from here. We have to track down where that other one that can be used to restore us went."

As they continued on, certainly slower than Arapegol could have gone on his own, along that road with thickly growing prickly vegetation along the side of it, they did not go to the pass between those hills where a bit of Quadick was glimpsed further on, but the road as they went on rounded several other low hills, with low grass and widely separated small shrubs on them, until once again Quadick was seen, further on, more in plain view here.

"I hope so," Jaydeen said in response to the hope if the others having been able to survive, "and let's hope we not wait too long to find out."

Going on in their slow pace, Jaydeen's spirits lifted, if only a little at the sight of Quadick.
"Not much farther then, only a few miles." She said half joking.

GodlyD&D
08-04-2021, 01:03 AM
Arapegol responded, "Well, yes, it would be maybe four miles, or so, still. It won't take much longer, if you could speed up. But I am not convinced that you can, and we will not try to make you do so. It could be midafternoon, or later, when we get there going still at this pace. So it was for this that I said, as you know what is available in Quadick, you can guide us to where we can stay overnight. If you do that for each of us, I will worry about getting meals for all of us. But then I hope you like plenty of vegetables."

There were no people they saw as they kept on along this road, approaching the turnoff to the way into Quadick. Arapegol commented, "For the last couple of years, this road really did not keep being used. That Primal Forest it goes by must have become infested with such monsters only in recent times, it seems."

After they walked on in silence for a while, Iperanton said, "I knew there was a city way out here where you had been changed, Arapegol, but I don't think there was ever traffic from there, that I know about. Most traffic between Erpedoben and other places is in the other directions from it. It seems that northward it is very sparse country."

They were a little closer to Quadick, and they saw the turnoff to the way into Quadick, and more forested area across in the other way. Arapegol responded, "I remember noting other cities to the north, that are shown on the map I kept and bring along now. Diodun is one of the closer ones of those still."

"I suppose the primal forest is an effective barrier." Jaydeen commented as they continued to walk.
They began to limp a bit more as their side went sore, and it was more painful to move. They hissed in pain.

"We should probably rest when we reach town." she said, "I'm not in any real condition for long travel."

Arapegol said, "Remember we are counting on you, who are familiar with the places in Quadick, to lead us where we can stay tonight, as it will be late in the day when we are there. Especially if we go on with you, at this rate. But, if you are alright with this idea I have, and would be comfortable with it being done, I have the orb of teleportation with me now, and I might have you teleported to the gate of the city, that I can reach with this, that you would not then walk all the rest of this way there. You would then wait there for us to come, and with us just going ourselves, we would get there much sooner. And then lead us to where we can stay, together, and dinner for us will be on me. Going there that way would be easier on you."

"That'll be nice." Jaydeen said and let out a pain breath. "It's not hard to find a place to sleep. Just look for the nearest inn. Just don't teleport me into a wall." She tried to joke.

The sun was starting to set, and the cacophonies of bugs could be heard in nearly any direction. A small breeze picked up to help cool the small party.

Jaydeen in the female elf's body suddenly and rather unexpectedly found the body Jaydeen was in a few feet away from the city wall around Quadick on the outside, on a low mound of grass, several more feet away from the city gate that remained open through the day. Jaydeen considered going toward the gate to go in, but then again, why push that discomfort instead of just waiting for those two others who would still be of assistance? After waiting only a few minutes Jaydeen could spot them, as they moved, now more rapidly on their own, toward where there was the turnoff to the way into this city, hundreds of feet away still, but that was small distance compared to all the way there was to there. In a few minutes more they both came swiftly up. For Arapegol it was certainly no great effort, he looked like he could go yet faster.

Arapegol said, "So, we are here already. Seems like we can go in now and find where we might stay for this night."

"Sounds agreeable," she said and made to stand, yet was unable. Finding herself unable to stand on her own, she raised a hand for assistance.

Her muscles ached as she moved. She must have taken a much bigger beating being slammed against those trees. Her ribs burned more as she breathed. Her feet felt numb.
"Ah, frick." she muttered in pain, "I need to see a healer. And don't you dare try healing me yourself. You may know magic, but not healing."

Arapegol looked at Iperanton, and then back at Jaydeen in the elfin body, saying, "I wish I could do that. It would be helpful many times over. As you need a healer, we will need to find one, even before I spot anyone I can remember being at that same location near here when we were all affected. Then afterward we can find where to stay, where hopefully there would still be room for us." Arapegol gestured to the open gate. "We should go in now to look for where we need to go. We will hold you still to assist you all along this way."

A few men at the gate watched as the three entered into the city together.

"Thanks." Jaydeen said as they accepted further assistance.

The guards seemed uncomfortable in their armor, like they might not be used to it. It almost looked like one of them may have been a woman.

"That way," she said, pointing in the general direction of the Healers shop. Or what should be the healers shop.
They took another pained breath as they continued to walk.

Arapegol said, "Great! We will go there. But hold on a minute. We should speak with these ones guarding at the gate."

Arapegol did not hesitate but went right up to them in a few strides, while Jaydeen in the female elf body still waited with being supported by Iperanton. Arapegol said, "Excuse me. I and that other one you see over there were here in this city Quadick yesterday, when an amulet with power was destroyed in the area where we were, and we and other people there then were changed, when we found ourselves in other bodies. We are on a quest, our mission is to find another similar amulet that can restore all of us who were changed. Do you know about any of this or any of the individuals who were changed at that time, yesterday?"

"Yes! Absolutely!" said one of those there to guard at the gate.

After a moment of silence, Arapegol said, "Great. If you could point out to us any of those individuals, or any of the places where any of them are staying now, it would be immensely helpful. I and those joined with me in the effort will do all we can for finding what is needed and bring the restoration, which must be sorely wanted."

Iperanton came nearer leading the elfin witch with the mind of Jaydeen within. He spoke up, "We can certainly have some help with any others, who would want to, going along with us further from here where we would find what is needed."

"Hmpf, good luck," The other guard said, "Not many here are up for adventures. And others seem to have... adjusted."

The first guard gave him a light smack to the chest and a sharp look, "My... wife and I were changed, as well as many in town. I might not be able to point out all of them, but you may notice that they may not be acting... normally."

"well, that figures," Jaydeen muttered.

Arapegol responded, "You see, I, and this one here, were here at this place seeing what happened when that did happen. We know what we are to find, and where to go to find it. It is still late this day, and we will need to find a place where we stay tonight. But I know that there would be confusion and probable despair here from that happening, so we want this message that we are on our way for reaching the way to fix it all spread to those others in this city dealing with the change, for providing hope to them. And as this other one suffered injuries we hope to find that healer here."

"we'll make sure to spread the word that someone knows what they're about." The man said and the woman nodded in agreement.
"It might do some people some good to know that someone's working on getting things... back to normal." She said.

Jaydeen gave a small cough that turned into drawn out hacking, "We should get to a healer," She said weakly, "now."

Arapegol said, "Thank you!" to both those ones guarding at the gate. "We had better get to that healer, who better be there!" He went to join Iperanton help the injured elf witch with the mind of Jaydeen within.

They went on toward the shop indicated, not far from that entrance through the gate. This area of the city was familiar now to Arapegol too, as he had come in this way, after losing Eyriconer at the Primal Forest, and finding a place in the city where he could sort things out, and then a little later that day returning out that way after having been changed as others here had been, and when the one who had taken his body looked as though that one would die with his body, instead of responding, he made the duplicate of his body that the other had, which he continued with now. Though where they now were heading was one of the buildings he had seen then he took no notice then if it was a healer's place of business.

They came to it, a building with slightly gothic look with dark colored crossbeams standing out from the very light walls, and the gable with slanted sides of the roof reaching up to a point. The entrance door in front held a window with varied colored portions meeting together, which did not show what was within the darker interior. A sign above the doorway did display the indication of healer there. Arapegol reached to open the door, and when it opened he and Iperanton led the injured party in, where they saw one older lady with a shawl sitting across a table there from them.

She said, "How is it this one is injured?"

Arapegol said, "We went along the road going by the Primal Forest on the way here, for a very important matter. We found this one calling for help from within the edge of the corner of that forest, who we helped out from there. She might explain it to you best what was happening in there."

"Got a bit too banged up," Jaydeen said as she moved to sit down, hissing in pain.

"Yes, yes, sit down," The older woman said and began to move with a speed not matching her age before letting out a curse and hissing in pain herself, muttering something along the lines of "I forget this one's age."
She took another second to regain herself before proceeding. "Lay down, and allow me to take a good look at you."

The healer woman looked carefully over the elfin body, and looked at the face, which had a few small scratches, that had already faded as they healed, and felt the head carefully. She looked at the exposed arms. She said to Arapegol and Iperanton, "Would you mind waiting just a few moments outside while I check her? I will summon you right back in after that."

Arapegol and Iperanton understood there might be some need for privacy as the body Jaydeen occupied was being checked, and they willingly exited, closing the door behind them as they went to wait in the early evening air just outside.

"Now. Could you remove the blouse and covering, that I can check more thoroughly?"

With taking the top clothing off, Jaydeen had a good view now without a previous circumstance for that of the appearance of the bare elfin body Jaydeen occupied.

"Yes, there is severe stress this arm experienced with a contusion formed from that. I can give you something for that. But this elfen body deals with it better than any among mantypes would." She checked further. "You are otherwise alright. Are you hurting anywhere below too?"

"Honestly, I heart everywhere," Jaydeen said, chancing a glance at their exposed bosom, "I think I've cracked a few ribs, I'm bruised all over besides. I feel week and finding it just a little hard to keep my eyes open."

She took a breath and coughed a little before continuing. "As much as everything hurts, I would not be surprised to find that I've got a broken leg."

The healer had looked closely, and said to Jaydeen in the female elf body, "You have abrasions there, but no further discoloration or swelling that would show any broken rib. There are a few bruises in places, these heal, but I can hasten that. I can give you this mixture I make including penneywort with some of a kind of aloe, that will do wonders for the surface wounds it is applied to. The arm will need more treatment, which I will give, but the armband really helped it from being any worse. I have a concoction I can give to you to drink that would wake you up more. I will check lower, too. Can you lift your kilt up now?"

As Arapegol and Iperanton waited outside of that healer's place not far at all from the door, they noticed people walking by. A few had strange gaits, suggesting they were not comfortable with what they had to walk with or what they were wearing while doing that.

Arapegol said, "I am thinking there are quite a lot of people in this city who need the help we should really get with finding the amulet to do that."

With a small bit of nervous hesitation, Jaydeen lifted up their kilt, and moved it out of the way for better observation.

She had never bothered to look at herself undressed just yet. It was little wonder she felt some discomfort, and worked to avert her gaze.

"How does it look, doc." She asked

The healer looked carefully, and then said, "There is great swelling in your left leg, and it is impressive that you walked here from the Primal Forest. It would have been too serious for you if it had been broken, but I see damage enough that the upper leg has a partial fracture. Don't move! I will be right back in a few moments." She then hurried off, with a little complaint about her own stiffness, but cutting that short.

After several minutes she returned, carrying a tray. She approached and set it down on a low table close by, and then moved the stool in a good position before the possesed elf witch with the other mind of Jaydeen. She handed a flask from the tray to this one in her care, saying, "Drink this down, now, straight down." It was not unpleasant but had tastes of such things that are not for refreshment. The healer placed her hand on that swollen area of the leg, and mumbled strange words that could not be repeated. She took a jar, from that placing ointment on the wounded portion of the leg. She then wrapped it in a gauze.

The healer moved and put another mixture onto the portion of the upper arm that was hurt, and wrapped gauze around it. She gave the one in her care a small cup with another mixture, and said, "Drink this too."

She got up, and went to a cabinet, and brought out something. "This must go around your injured leg, for support as it heals, which will be much faster now."

"Yes, ma'am." She said as she continued to lay still after taking her drinks. "I'll try not to do too much more damage to it in the mean time."

She let out a puff of air as whatever wrap was applied to her leg.
It hurt, just being gingerly touched. Her leg was fractured, partially or not.

"Do you have an estimate for how long I'll take to recovery?" She asked.

The healer answered after a brace for support was fixed in place, "Had it been any other with this injury, just having the leg injured the same way and having it braced for support this same way, with not having active use of the leg, it would recover in a few weeks. But you are not one of the mantypes here but an elf, and I notice you have familiarity with use of supernatural power, and with what healing work I put on you and you resting inbetween, I think you would be better as soon as tomorrow."

The healer got up, and then said, "Put your things back on as you had them, and when you are ready, I can bring those who came with you back in. I have given you great help here, may you all see it right to leave some donation here with me for my work with you." The healer then waited for the possessed witch elf to get fixed up again.

Jaydeen put everything back in place, her clothes as she found them, and her bags on her shoulders as she liked. She winced a bit with a small hiss of pain as she stood on her leg and walked.
She dug out a few gold coins and passed them to the woman.
"Thanks," she said and started out the door, her leg a little stiff with the brace.

"The healer said I could be as well as tomorrow?" Jaydeen said, "but it wouldn't hurt to be careful for a few days."

The two waiting outside turned to the elf female in reality Jaydeen in mind. Arapegol said, "There is an inn a little way that way, I say we go there and see if we can still get a suite, or maybe a couple of rooms. If we get a place there I will then get a meal for us there. You both might be as hungry as I am. Iperanton and I both came a very long way this day from our home city Erpedoben, though I went from there and returned back there not very long before. And still I anticipate going far still by foot, in our search when we can go, for people here whose lives are disrupted are waiting for relief from that which we can obtain." Arapegol looked at that one with Jaydeen's mind, remembering his first brief encounter with that actual elf that Jaydeen seemed to be now, and said, "We will not go too fast. When we have a place, I hope you let us check where you had been hurt, that we can monitor how it is healing after the healer took care of you. Well, let us go. I can help you along the way still if you think you still need that."

It had darkened considerably, and as they made their way to the inn a couple of buildings further on, Arapegol thought then of the others he had met here previously, who Jaydeen had said were also pulled in by the strangler rotmonsters, who he could only hope had escaped when Jaydeen had managed to escape. The lights from the inn ahead of them still beckoned welcomingly.

"Thanks, but don't slow down too much for me," She said as she followed the others into the inn.

It was a little odd. A mix of a few trying have a good time while others still seemed shocked as they talked in hushed tones. It seems not everyone found a different body so disconcerting.

Arapegol and Iperanton went with the female elf who was Jaydeen in person to the counter to speak with the attendant, a modest looking man in his mid thirties. Arapegol said, "We are traveling and need a place to stop and rest before continuing on. Do you still have rooms available?"

That attendant said, "We have filled up all the rooms today, except for the wedding suite. If you would take that together, we can bring in an extra small bed, while the bed there might be shared. It would be nine megamite coins for the dinner and the suite for all of you."

Arapegol looked at the others, and said, "That we can do." He pulled out coins from his coin bag, for making the payment.

The attendant waved to a young woman working there, who came over. The attendant said, "This is Gabrielle, she will show you to your table, and bring the menus for ordering, and serve you then. You will be shown to the suite afterward. You did not have any animals to still have taken to the stables, do you?"

"No," Arapegol said, "Not at all. This will do."

The three were brought to one table near the wall on one side, away from most of the lighting in there, where they were yet nearby to another occupied table, where three others there had them in view, and glanced at them at times.

Arapegol looked over the menu brought to him, as Iperanton and Jaydeen looked at the ones brought to them, and he said, "The noodle soup looks good, I think I will get it."

"I'll take the same," Jaydeen said hesitantly and waited for their food to come.

She shrank a bit, still not fully used to their borrowed body.

Arapegol said, "I think that is a good choice. It looks healthy and delicious. Iperanton, you can choose what you want, but this entree looks really good." He turned to Jaydeen, in the body of Nasa as an elf, and said, "You were not moving like you were in as much pain when we came in here. It might be the brace is helping, but I think that healing is working. You know, it might be good if you let one of us see how the area where you were wounded is, I mean, after we eat here. We will have that suite. Two of us will get the large bed to share in there, and there will be the small bed they bring in the extra small bed. We can discuss the arrangements for where we sleep, too." Arapegol glanced over past Iperanton and Jaydeen, at the nearby table. He returned a stare, and then looked back at them. He said in a low voice, "Those three at that other table keep glancing this way. What we say should not be their business, so it is probably better for us to speak quietly with each other."

Gabrielle their server came to their table, and asked, "Are you ready to order yet?"

Arapegol said, "I am, and Jaydeen, this elf here, is. I want this noodle soup. Jaydeen was interested in having it too, right, Jaydeen?"

Iperanton said, "I will have that too."

Gabrielle asked, "What might you like to drink with that? We have wine, and apple juice, and tea or coffee from the from the far isles, prepared as you might like it."

Arapegol said, "I think I would like the apple juice."

Iperanton said, "I would want a white wine, please."
