A quiz competition in which contestants are presented with general knowledge clues in the form of answers, and must phrase their responses in the form of questions.

Welcome one and all to the first round of RPA Jeopardy! Inspired by happenstance in the discord I will be doing my best to puzzle you all with trivia! There will be three rounds, Jeopardy, Double Jeopardy and Final Jeopardy.
*clap**clap**clap**clap**clap**clap**clap**clap**c lap**clap**clap**clap**clap**clap**clap**clap**cla p**clap*

The first two rounds are open to one and all!
Final Jeopardy will be the top three point earners battling it out for the Grand Prize! -triforce-

The rules are simple:

your answer must be in the form of a question and include a question mark! ?
the first posted reply with the correct answer will win the points for the question
each player may only post one reply for each question
the person who correctly answered the question chooses the next question from the board.
(They will have approximately 24hrs to post before the floor will re-open to all contestants to prevent long lags. I recommend to include your chosen question as a post script to your answer post to keep things moving.
Coming to an answer through means other than your memory is discouraged, though this is a game, I probably won't call the RPA police on you.

I will update the board here as we play for an easy central reference. Question categories for future games can be pm'd to me.

I did really know that. I spent almost every winter break during my childhood visiting my grandparents in Pembroke Pines :p.

This one I'm not sure of; I think it's the Danube and I think the Danube empties into the Black Sea, but I might be wrong on both counts. If I'm right, I'll take World Geography for 300; if not, someone else needs to start playing with us! :D

That's not a question! :P The Danube does drain into the Black sea, but is the second largest river!

What is the Caspian Sea? Is the correct answer. The Volga, the longest European river feeds into it.

I think people don't like Jepardy. :P

The difference between the frequency at which sound or light waves leave a source and that at which they reach an observer; was named after it's discoverer an Austrian Physicist in 1842.

Do you want the response for sound or the response for light?

Kach
01-16-2024, 12:08 AM
They should share a phenomenon name.

omgLYNX
01-16-2024, 03:04 AM
Well, with sound it's called the Doppler effect. For light, it's either redshift or blueshift.

Kach
01-16-2024, 06:56 PM
But which is named after the Austrian discoverer. :P

omgLYNX

Well, red shift refers to how light waves are expanded giving a red hue to objects, blue shift is the same, except light waves are compressed, giving a blue hue.
Now, using the process of elimination, the response you're looking for is Doppler, is it not?

Kach

That is correct!!
