Lily grinned as her daddy seemed a lot better this morning. She giggled. "I know daddy. But since you're here, you promised waffled last night!"
"Pancakes!" he corrected with a grin, and tightened his robe before going over to the counter. "You're very right. I'll get right to them." He covertly reached into the drawer to grab aspirin. He took one and then handed another one to Alicia along with a glass of water.
Alicia smiled at the kids and covertly took the aspirin when Julian handed it to her. She tightened her robe around her body. She pulled up the chair to the counter for the kids to stand on. She smiled at Julian and she looked relaxed and happy for once. She wasn't hiding anything now. She and Julian made love again. It was a good day.
Julian smiled back. Maybe it was foolish, but he felt hopeful.
She took his hand and squeezed his hand happily before letting go to get the flour for the pancakes. She smiled at the kids as he let them pour the ingredients into the bowl to mix.
Julian helped them get the right amounts in, and then the kids stirred together as Julian put a pan on the stove. He looked at Alicia and pulled her closer. "...Could you make sure the living room is safe?" he murmured in her ear while the kids were busy.
She smiled as they made the mix. As Julian pulled her close, she smiled and kissed his ear. "Will do...." She pulled away and walked into the living room. She picked up the empty bottle as well as her glass before placing the booze they didn't touch into a bag. She then looked at the broken glass. Memories of last night came to her and she sighed softly. Not a good time when he threw this. She picked up the glass and got out the vacuum to suck up the little pieces.
When the batter was done, Julian poured a little into the pan and evened it out. As it sizzled, he looked at the kids. "Did you go back to sleep last night like we asked you to?" Tommy looked at his sister insecurely, but nodded still.
Lily nodded as well as she hugged Tommy as he looked insecure. "We did daddy.... I told Tommy a story before bed again."
Julian smiled a little. "That's very nice of you Lily. Mommy and I are really sorry we woke you up."
