"Good... I just don't want you getting in trouble. Or causing trouble. I know how desperately you want a real case. I don't want you making up a case that isn't really there."
"I get it," he growled.
She caught his tone and shut up. After a few moments, she sighed. "What do you want for dinner?"
He let his head hang low. "...I'll figure something out for us."
She nodded. "Okay." She simply listened to his breathing, staying silent.
Julian rubbed his face. "I'll see you tonight," he said softly and hung up.
"See you." She heard that he hung up first and set her phone down. She sighed and leaned back into her chair. "Fuck this..." She muttered.
Julian took a deep breath and pocketed his phone. He hated this. He had to find a way to lock Calvin up all over again. He had hoped he'd been rid of him for the rest of his life. But now... hardly anyone even believed Calvin was a bad guy.
Alicia returned home and searched the fridge for leftovers. She found some and started reheating some for herself. She couldn't see how Calvin could not have changed. Julian attacked him within Calvin doing anything. She looked at her food. She wasn't hungry but she forced herself to eat anyways.
Julian came home a little while later with a bag of groceries. He had been on edge all day, afraid to run into Calvin again. He looked up at Alicia when he saw her at the kitchen table and paused. "...Hey, I brought dinner..."
