Name: Jacob "The Machine" Tiez-hu-xiao
(His actual name is Ⓙ@¢ø☤øßḯη тїℯẕї@ṧℌ☺üϰї@◎ї◎, but since pretty much no one but native Galwanuuk can pronounce that...)
Age: 27
Height: 183,4cm
Appearance: Jacob is of mixed race, impressively so some may say. His father is 1/4 Galawanuuk, 1/8 Voltarian, 1/8 human, 3/16 Venei and 5/16 god knows what, his mother is 7/12 Voltarian, 2/31 Arkhian and 1/12 Galwanuuk, the rest of her lineage unknown to her. Making Jacob what one would call a right bastard (or galactic mutt, depending on local slang).*
Even so, he looks quite human, the things most easy to spot being his eyes, with their slightly oval shaped pupils, the multicoloured iris, which has a red center and a blue outer area, and the non existence scalera, as well as the slightly less oval eye socket. He also has sharper, more jagged teeth than normals. His left hand has slightly longer fingers than normal, and the middle and index fingers have an extra joint. His right hand, lost in a gun failure related accident, is replaced by a chrome red mechanical hand, which he made mostly himself, and whose colour matches his inner iris. His face also has some quite impressive scars, and he also has quite severe electrical burn scars radiating out form his left shoulder, reaching down to the elbow, left shoulder-blade, lower neck and most of the upper left rib-cage area.*
Other than these defining features, he is quite normal looking, with what some people call a kind and slightly unnerving smile. His hair is a natural deep purple with dyed in electric blue streaks, but otherwise he has a quite normal, mid length haircut. He also has a all-round quite handsome face, though most people misjudge him to be 18-20 years old. He is 183,4cm tall and weighs 74,5 kg, and in combat he uses a nondescript, standard combat suit, the only visible anomaly being the fact it connects with his robot hand instead of covering it.
Personality: Jacob loves a good joke, especially if it's made at the expense of his friends and fellow crew members. He loves to tinker with his robots and weapons, and his friends' people's robots and weapons... And his enemies' robots and weapons. Basically any robot or electronic weapons he gets his hands on. He mostly views himself as a scientist/weapon developer, but likes field-testing a bit more than most actual weapon developers. He is generally a happy and adventurous fellow, though a bit careless at times. Jacob also takes great pride in his own inventions, even when they fail explosively. He also thinks himself quite decent at poker, quianshuchi, raimadali and other such games, and seldom lets a good opportunity for gambling get away from him.
History: Jacob is a electrical tech maniac, with emphasis on manic, if the rest of the crew is to be believed. He loves to tinker with electronics and automated or electrical weapon systems. For some reason, the other crew members have started to refuse using his inventions and improvisations, and most don't even allow him to "upgrade" their weapons, despite his reassurances that it's perfectly safe... probably. Sue has however allowed him to participate in the maintenance of the ships electrical and automated systems, with the reminder that if he makes any "improvements" to his ship, Sue will personally toss him out the airlock.
Jacob is mostly self thought in the electronical arts, though he himself insists that his two years assistant to the Voltarian defector who ran the weapons-depot back on his home station thought him more than most people learn from a full university degree, and that he'd have his masters in Automated Targeting and Firing for Shipboard Systems and Handheld Firearms, if only the examiner hadn't messed up the demonstration... How was he supposed to know his examiner would be the ONE friendly Teludolmor in the galaxy?...
Due to his inventions' frequent failures, and the... financial problems caused by those failures, Jacob is working on a quite small budget to make his current weapons, which everyone but him is quite okay with, especially since the last time he got his hands on a large sum of money, he upgraded the ships main plasma turret, the subsequent misfiring of which left the crew drifting in space for almost two weeks, and had Jacob halfway out the airlock before the rest of the crew calmed Sue down.
Jacob was raised on Tomrik'fen, a large space station near the center of Galawanuuk territory. It was originally one of the bases of operation for the now bankrupt Treshkir'il mining company. After being abandoned by Treshkir'il, it was then appropriated by a group of Voltarian defectors who had gained the aid of the Galawanuuk central government. Over time, more refugees, both Voltarian and otherwise, and quite a number of Galawanuuk also moved to Tomrik'fen, leading to it being a massive melting pot. The space station is mostly self governed, the Galawanuuk central government still claims taxes, but no longer bothers keeping track of all the individuals due's, instead giving the stations local government a rough estimate for how much tax the station is to pay. Due to the stations majority being of Voltarian decent, almost the entire station speaks Voltarian fluently, most also speaks Gulwanuuk, due to the simple fact it's a Gulwanuuk space station. Surprisingly few speak intergalactic common though, and most of the ones that do does it less than fluently.
This upbringing has lead to Jacob being fluent in both Voltarian and Gulwanuuk, and while his time off station has forced him to learn intergalactic common, he still speaks with a clear accent, and still makes big mistakes now and then. He also speaks enough Venei and Roxamozian to get by, or at least he did when he was 19.
During his days of freelancing, Jacob gained quite a reputation, both for his insane inventions, and being a funny drunk. His adventurous and spirited drunk escapades has earned him the nickname "The Machine". No one in Sue's crew has been able to get the full story behind this nickname out of Jacob, but from what they gather, it includes a Gulwanuuk crime syndicate, Roxamozian mercenaries and a member of the Gulmoz'ven confederations unified police force with a love for Qcherisk liquor. Due to this, getting Jacob drunk has been the goal of several shore leaves, but it has proven a difficult and expensive undertaking, which is by far most likely due to his Gulwanuuk heritage, as few species able to get drunk have a higher alcohol resistance than the Gulwanuuk.
Weapons:
Name:Plasma dagger
Type:Melee dual wield;Left
Apperance:The plasma emmiter is fitted into jacobs combat suit, on top of his left hand, making it function similar to a mechanical claw weapon or a punching dagger.
Descrition:A re-purposed short range plasma cutter, originally designed for cutting through plates of metal in places where fitting bigger equipment would be difficult, like vents and other crawlspaces. The plasma dagger adds a lot of pircing power to Jacobs lefthand punches and unlike metal counterparts, much less punching power is required, as contact time replaces impact speed as the determening factor for the pircing capabilities.
Name: Prosetic hand
Type: Melee dual wield;Rigth
Apperance:The chrome red metal hand is clearly meant to showcase the fact it's a prostetic, rather than try to cover it with syntetic coverings and such things. The metal hand is also a replacement for most of the forearm, and accounts for about 2/3 of the forearms combined length.
Descrition:It's main design focus is functionality, and while it is capable of great presition and fine work, it's also quite sturdy and is perectly capable of beeing used as a bludgeon without taking noticable damage.
Name:Jacob's patented Plasma de-composer; v2.31.5
Type:Semi-automatic plasma rifle
Apperance:
The above photo, which was commisioned for Jacob's thrid attempt at getting an official lisence, also serves as a reminder not to make the replica you send to the photo company out of cardboard.
Descrition:A mid range rifle that has three firing modes: Non lethal immobilizer, Lethal disabling, and Decomposer. Decomposer mode drains the battery a lot quicker, is prone to overheating, the previous version blew up because of it, and it has lower range than the other two modes, but it DOES pack a larger punch. Like most plasma rifles, the de-composer uses a PCF (Plasma Containement Field) to allow the plasma to travel through air, vacum and other low density mediums without dispersing. The de-composer dosn't use the plasma as it's main feature however, instead it supercharges it's plasma with electrical energy, which, due to the plasma's high capasity for energy storage, is also contained in the PCF. Originaly Jacob intended it as a way to create a long range tazer with no mechanical parts, however, he soon found out that at high enough electricity densities, he could instead use the same method to tear the bonds between molekyls themself appart. The immobilizr functions much like a tazer, though with added plasma burns. The disabler setting functions a lot like an electrical chair, but with the added benefit of severly burning or melting the impact area. The decomposer mode uses a stronger PCF to contain the plasma even after impact, and thereby not allowing the electical energy to escape, this causes most materials to disperse violently. While there is a very clear limit to the amount of material each shot can disperse, as the electrical energy is spent in the prosess, the decomposer, in decomposing mode, at maximum charge, is capable of punching a bolwingball sized hole through most humanoids.
Name: Jacob's SALAD (Semi Automatic Longdistance Aplicator for Disloacation).
Type: Quantum paradoxial wormhole generator.
Apperance:
Descrition:This handheld weapon is a marvel of modern Pseudoscience. When opperated properly, it causes the targeted part of your opponent to be teleported through a miniwormhole to a nearby location. Due to the massive amount of calculation needed, the weapon takes about 1/2 a second to fire after the trigger has been pulled. Due to the unreliable curvature of space, it's hard to predict where the teleported matter is teleported to, though it is usually somewhere within a 100m radius, however exceptions do occur. Jacob had orignialy meant for this to be more of a utility than a weapon, but due to the small area of effect, uncontrollable teleportation target. The prototye also had the problem of teleporting stuff into other stuff, but this bug has been fixed, and replaced with a small change of failure to function. Jacob is also working on a relocator and other related devices, to maybe one day tap into the utility aspects of the techniqe. No luck so far, but the relocator looks like it migth have some military applications.
Unique Gear:
Name:Scorpio
Type:Pet robot
Apperance:
Descrition:Scorpio is a robot Jacob made a few years ago for helping with the maintenance of the ship. He's been continuously upgrading the AI, and has grow kinda fond of the little fellow. These days he brings him along on most missions, as he's just about as good at sabotage as he is at maintenance. Don't worry though, he has several backups of his AI. Scorpio also a manual control mode, that allows Jacob to control him directly, and if need be use him to interact with enemy systems (this is a bit cumbersome however, as Scorpio is not really designed to interact with computers beyond simple maintenance)
Name:Ar-hack-noids
Type:Hacking/sabotage robots
Apperance:
Descrition:These small spiders have four primary functions:
Moving through small spaces.
Hack a system with their automated software and do a predetermined task.
Unleash a virus unto a system.
Explode.
They are quite mobile, and have quite long battery life due to the unstable Dyrian batteries, which are known for two things: High energy storage capacity. Exploding. The very tiny primer charge Jacob has placed next to the battery of each spider is more than enough to trigger the battery's violent failure. It's not a massive explosion, but enough to "safely" destroy all info on them, as well as ruining delicate equipment like computers and the hand(and possibly arm) of anyone stupid enough to pick one up. The spiders are most times set to self-detonate if tempered with.
Class: Hacker
