A somewhat recycled character from years ago, that I never got to use. I made quite a few changes, but at her core she's still a bit of a bratty thing.
I've done what I could for bonds (it's almost 4am now LOL). Feel free to make suggestions, or request changes if you have some ideas.
Name: Iana Coris Ghaende Dynarda XXVII (the 27
th). So-named after several family ancestors.
Nicknames: Nina or Nugget (or whatever comes up in RPs)
Race: Laifel (Lie-ee-fell).
Age: 142
Archetype: Bombsmith? Engineer, chemist, blacksmith, maker of clever traps and weapons.
Noteworthy equipment:
- Large wrench, can be used as a crude weapon when needed.
- Engineers goggles, usually has them over her eyes, or hanging around her neck. Useful for engineering, as well as protection against light/blinding spells.
- Backpack full of compact gadgets. Bombs, fire starters, distractions, etc..
Deity: None that requires worship, or that the current kingdom recognizes.
Motive: Always looking for an excuse to come up with something new, and the trouble this group often finds itself in gives her ample opportunities to test her creations.
Personality: Talks very quickly, and often in highly technical terms. Might repeat herself in ‘lamens terms’ to anyone who looks at her blankly when she’s explaining how her newest doo-dad works.
It’s possible that only Iona the Honeytongue truly understands her explanations.
She has an eye for details, can understand how something works just by observing it for a time. Her memory is especially good, and she can quote conversations word for word (I’ll try my best to hold true to that IC… But bear with me if something isn’t exact LOL). Generally a bubbly, hyperactive person. Although she will buckle down when a situation calls for serious action.
She spends most of her days searching for new ways to get things done, and can often be found in the middle of a stack of books or buried under a pile of parts.
Flaws: She isn’t the best at judging character, being much better with machines. She also doesn’t always pick up on subtle emotions, so often rambles on regardless of the interest of those around her.
Since she speaks very quickly and doesn’t fully pay attention to the reactions around her, she is prone to accidentally divulging information she perhaps shouldn’t have, or not realizing that there is emotional strife or tension around her (a bad breakup, a fight, etc..).
Appearance:
At 142 years of age, Iana surpasses many of her interracial acquaintances by several years – However, she remains ever childlike and energetic, a testament to the spiritual immortality of her kind. Her large, bright blue eyes and matching pigtailed hair reinforce her childlike appearance, and make it hard for anyone not of her kind to take her ingenious ideas seriously. However, once she has proven herself, she can become an indispensible part of a community.
She generally wears leather or thick cotton clothing, to protect against sparks and other hazards of her craft, and typically carries her smaller tools in her back pockets or even tucked behind her ears.
She’s 3’1” tall. Don’t tell her that, though.
Typical of Laifel women, she has fairly bushy eyebrows, and long sideburns. She also sports a few specks and lines of odd skin pigmentation; They’re scars from random burns as is usual in her line of work.
She is absolute shite with magic, but that didn't stop her from trying to dabble in it... which resulted in an explosion that permanently turned every hair on her body... BLUE.
Bio:
Born during a time of war in her homeland, Iana was whisked away to a safer haven along with her mother and brother. There, her mother, Icariana, named her Iana Coris Ghaende Dynarda XXYII before returning to their homeland to aid in the war as a healer. Iana was raised by her brother in a small refugee village for most of her childhood.
After the war, her mother returned with Coris XXVI, Iana’s father. Coris had returned alive, but his mind was broken; The war had taken a terrible toll on his sanity, and he spent most of his days in taverns, drinking away his memories.
Iana, under her brother’s tutelage, became an excellent engineer. She was approached by several local merchants as the refugee village grew, and soon became well known in the area.
Over time, her father passed away, and her mother grew ailing. Rumors of war in faraway lands hinted at troubling times ahead, and the village emptied. Her brother, ever practical, vouched to move along as well, to find a quiet place for he and their mother. Icariana eventually passed on as well, leaving her son to move on with his life in new lands.
At her centennial celebration, Iana announced that she was leaving in the name of discovery, and that one day her name would travel the land as the discoverer of all things great and wonderful.
The young Laifel journeyed onward, from kingdom to kingdom, until she reached Groun, a small, rough city with constant new arrivals, and new things to see and explore. She has made her home there, amidst many others in search of their own dream’s end.
The last few years have been particularly interesting as the city experienced a boom of newcomers and action. Iana, having settled in with a tiny workshop, spent much of her time coming up with unique (and sometimes a bit over-the-top) defenses for the town when it was clear that raiders and cut-throats were more than a little interested in attacking the village. In her earlier days in Groun, she found herself working with a band that would later be known as the ‘Champions of Groun’. Although she wasn’t of much direct use in any battles fought, her homemade contraptions often got the group out of some rough predicaments, and she has since solidified her place as the group’s unique blacksmith and engineer.
