Player Name: Max
Character Name: Warren Feilt
Alias(es): Vagrant/Exile/Sell-sword
Faction: Southern Kingdom (mercenary)
Age: 76
Appearance: He has light skin with soft features and shoulder length dark red hair he keeps shaved on the sides and braided. He is 6'5" with feint scars covering large sections of his body, most of which are on his back with one still fresh running the length of his face from forehead to chin over his right eye.
Equipment: Warren carries a long sword on his hip and a shield on his back as his main weapons, both are worn from use but in usable condition, the shield is of Destruin make. Along with these he also has a long sword seemingly made of chain, the links locked in place and sharpened, this sword is seldom used and referred to by Warren as 'Riku' (See details under 'Powers' section.)
His armor consists of plate metal with a leather lining, the plate metal is thicker on his legs and right arm and standard on his left arm and chest, He no longer has the helmet. He wears a long hooded cloak loosely attached to his chest piece; the cloak appears to be a patchwork of flags and banners from within the Destruin lands.
Hidden on his person is a small pendant cross with a red gem in its center, 8 metal plates under his armor on his left arm and chest and a length of cloth he uses as a scarf. these 10 are used to create his alchemic blade with the use of a spell. (See spells)
He carries 8 small runes, 4 carved with healing symbols, the other 4 with elemental symbols (fire, lightning, water and light) in 2 sealed pockets on the inside of his gauntlets.
Civil Attire: Only has the clothes on his back
Mount(s): None
Mana: 20
Abilities - (4 spells, 2 passives, 3 powers, 1 magical weapon)
Spells -
Healing touch: By making physical contact with a person he can spend mana to heal that person as long as he maintains contact. The strength and mana drain of this ability increases with the number of runes he uses.
(Simple cuts and bruises don't require a rune. Broken bones require 2 runes. Life threatening wounds require 4 runes)
((Cost: 2 mana per rune used. Total of 8 mana at full strength))
Arcane impact: The user pools mana into their next unarmed strike or attack/block using a shield. Upon striking the mana is released as a kinetic blast to throw back opponents.
(The use of elemental runes adds additional effects. Fire runes dramatically increase the temperature of items hit, items like wood and cloth have a chance to catch fire. Lightning runes add an electrical charge to the strike. Water runes turn the kinetic blast into a jet of water, this can only target 1 thing/person at a time but has longer range than other runes. Light runes momentarily blind those in front of the ability.)
((Cost: 2 mana))
Alchemic blade: Using Arcane magic Warren converts 8 metal plates into a short sword, using a pendant as a core to form the sword around and a length of fabric to form the grip.
(There is nothing special about the sword itself other than its construction and hidden nature. It is 2 foot long and can be made from any material Warren can get enough of. The strength and sharpness of the blade is determined by what it is made of.)
((Cost: 0 mana))
Ghost walker: By manipulating wind magic the user creates a 1 meter radius of silence around them, no-one outside the radius can hear anything that happens inside the spell.
(The spell is anchored to the caster, moving with them, it only lasts 5 minutes)
((Cost: 2 mana))
Passives -
Inspire/Fear: while the power Combat trance is active all allied units who clearly see Warren gain moral and will fight harder.
All enemies who clearly see Warren will be lose moral, increasing their desire to flee the longer they remain in the AoE.
(Inspire/Fear has a range of 15m and stacks over time, making the effects stronger the longer the unit stays in range and can clearly see Warren.)
Doubt/Foolhardy: Warren radiates a 15m aura that causes everyone around him to underestimate him, despite any previous feats of ability.
In combat enemies will see Warren as an easy fight, prompting them to not take the fight seriously.
(This passive does not affect people that know about its effects or that are strong minded)
Powers -
Combat trance: When in combat Warren can heighten his reflexes, senses and special awareness. This makes him react faster, able to pick out opponents weaknesses and react to attacks from unseen enemies within a 10m radius at the cost of tiring him faster.
(While Combat trance is active he gains the passive Inspire/Fear. While it is inactive he gains the passive Doubt/Foolhardy.)
Brazen charge: When able to get enough momentum Warren is able to deliver a powerful shoulder charge/shield bash capable of breaking through simple wooden structures and knocking down all but the strongest of opponents.
(If he hits something too strong for him to go through it damages him instead)
Chilling stare: Warren is able to stare down anyone not affected by the 'Doubt/Foolhardy' passive. As long as they maintain eye contact with him the target will begin to be effected by the enemy effect of the 'Inspire/Fear' passive.
(This ability can only affect 1 target at a time and stacks very slowly, requiring prolonged eye contact. Both Warren and the target must be able to clearly see each other's eyes, breaking line of sight starts to quickly undo the effects.
Riku: A sword seemingly forged out of links of black chain ‘Riku’ possesses a very basic consciousness. Spending almost its entire existence in a dormant state it only wakes up in the presence of powerful or high concentrations of magic, the state of the weapon being determined by an eye located in the center of the cross-guard, when awake the eye will stare unblinking at the largest source of magic in the area. Although every link of chain from the pommel to the tip of the blade is sharpened the blade is only able to cut items/beings with mana, becoming blunt to anything that doesn’t contain mana, and will siphon mana off anything that it cuts so long as the blade is still in contact with the person/item. The wielder does not receive any of the taken mana, and the wielder’s hands will be cut by the grip if they grab use this blade while they have mana. The sword also has a small chance to temporarily steal enchantments off items struck, causing this item to lose the enchantment and granting it to the sword for the duration.
(The effects of this weapon are inactive and the blade is rendered dull as long as it is in a dormant state, it takes 11+ mana being used within a 20m radius of the blade within 2 posts to wake the eye. The mana stealing effect is slow, no more than 2 a turn from opponents cut by the blade, 5 a turn if you are using the blade and have any mana left at all. To non-magical armor worn by people with mana the sword acts as a standard sharpened blade to avoid it being unable to pierce things like a piece of paper placed on a person’s arm simply because there is a non-magic item in the way. The enchantment stealing ability works off a 20 sided dice, the first time the sword hits an item with an enchantment in its awakened form if it rolls a 20 it gains that enchantment, if it rolls a 1 it is sent back into its dormant state, any other number and nothing happens. The dice roll can be done by whoever Tolvo chooses.)
Backstory: Warren grew up under a different name he no longer uses in the Iledrith empire alongside his close friend Durako and his uncle, a mage who made and sold runes. He doesn’t like to talk about those days anymore after his uncle left the empire, the two boys following him out into the world and eventually to the outskirts of the Southern Kingdoms. It was in a small town that Warren met a knight who quickly took a liking to him, giving him the nickname Warren after many failed attempts to pronounce his true name correctly over the years of teaching the young high elf how to fight as a knight.
Learning quickly Warren was gifted armor, a real sword and shield by his mentor before being given the day off to celebrate with his childhood friend. Before the week was through the first Destruin invasion swept over the small town, engulfing it in a sudden war that lasted only hours at most before the fighting was reduced to survivors being killed or captured and dragged off. Warren was fortunate enough to escape these two fates while his uncle and mentor were both killed, one during the battle, the other in the aftermath, and Durako was dragged off unconscious and bloodied.
It was at least a day of tracking the creature that had taken his friend before he encountered a dead being that appeared to be one of the demons of the Destruin with a strange blade buried through its chest with a staring eye that watched him, glaring through him and daring him to take it for himself. Having lost his sword and shield in the battle and with his alchemic blade near breaking he grit his teeth and took the chainlink blade, baring the pain of the sharpened links cutting into his hands and draining him of the last of his mana before the eye turned away from him, string towards the trees. Another hour passed before he came across the ritual site the demon had chosen, the spell already being cast as he drove the chainlink blade through the back of the distracted spellcaster, he looked on in horror seeing that he was too late to save Durako from the effects of the spell.
Traveling together again the pair made for the border of Destruin land, hoping to reach whatever was left of the Southern Kingdoms while acquiring new weapons from the dead and those they killed, determined to destroy the demon army for what they had cost the pair.
