I am a huge fan of Hans Zimmer, because he makes a lot of amazing music.
That said, I have gone to see his show multiple times, and every time I have a blast.
Sound quality is dope.
Anywho, I wanted to write about a few of his songs, as explained by Hans Zimmer, himself.
The Dark Knight
He loves to write about rebellion and darkness.
He enjoyed writing the Joker’s music more than Batman’s, because it was more challenging.
He experimented with unnerving sounds to make the Joker’s music.
WHY SO SERIOUS?

He studied sound, and how a constant rise of sound made people uncomfortable.
People always want resolution, so the constant rise without a fall is upsetting.
That said, he used the same sound at the beginning (for the Joker and Batman both), but created two very different endings for each in the songs.
He made Batman’s sound rise into a crescendo that ultimately fell into a symphony.

He made Joker’s sound rise into a crescendo that was inexplicable and untraceable, that eventually became cacophony.
For the joker, he used sound that constantly rose, without falling, without a resolution.
For him, it just ended harshly.

The Lion King
He also loves to write about love.
In his case, it was the love for his father. He told the story of how he came up with this song, Remember, from the Lion King. It is the song where Simba remembers his father, Mufasa.
He said writing the song was a very emotional experience for him, as he wrote it for his deceased father at the time. He deeply loved his father, looked up to him, and attributes much of who he is today to him. So he wrote this song about his own love and loss.

His name is Lebo Morake.
He was founded by Hans Zimmer in Los Angeles at a car wash.
(Lebo was at all the concerts I went to, and Hans always tells his story.)
Basically, in the 90s, Lebo went to the US from South Africa as a political refugee. While he was working a car wash, he was singing away as he washed a car... that happened to be Hans Zimmer’s. The man who happened to be working on the music for the the Lion King film.
So the Circle of Life guy became life long friends with Hans Zimmer, and is now touring the world with him, singing with his daughter.
