Magic is living, but just barely. The connection we have to it now seems archaic than what it used to be. We are like babes learning to hold our heads up for the first time. Our timeline feels completely backwards. It's gotten to the point that only a select handful are even permitted to use it- oh how far we have fallen. The only reason we could ever interact with it is because of the 'Oracles Tear.' An artifact so ancient no one knows where it came from. It was once regarded as a powerful conduit in times past, but in more recent times we cling to it like a life line- simply regarded as a connection.

That was 50 years ago. No one has seen it work since and we've all but lost the feeling of what magic is like. We'd almost lost hope until an ancient text was found that gave us hope to reverse the problem and hopefully keep the connection strong, but when looking for the believed dead artifact it was gone.


Now this damn thing has a bounty on it?! Are riches too much to ask for? Now I gotta hire help to keep anyone and everyone away from this troublesome little artifact.

The tale of how a little firecracker of a thief merchant came across a simple little trinket and decided to sell it. Follow the story to see what kind of misadventures our merchant and their guides get into.

Lore:

• Oracles Tear - An ancient artifact that was used as a conduit for magic users to hold a connection to magic, as natural connections could no longer be held. It stopped working 50 years ago. Those who forged a connection through it can no longer use magic. Those who have formed a natural connection (said to be EXTREMELY RARE) can still use magic but just barely. It is shaped like a sphere and made of precious ore.

• Magic - It still exists but the channels it flows from are hardly accessible.

Personality: Nim likes to keep to herself. In her line of work, she found it useful, especially after a tumultuous business relationship that seemed to go up in flames. Just because she keeps information secret doesn’t mean she is not afraid to speak up. She is known to be rather calculated and forthright when she finds something that is displeasing. That doesn’t mean that she is any less compassionate or fair. Nim also tends to observe rather than engage right away (a habit she picked up from her job), so she doesn’t always approach first.

Background: Nim started her early life as the daughter of apothecaries, so she was always outside, in a greenhouse, or in a library. All manner of flowers, herbs, and roots were the only things on her mind much of the time. She moved onto learning anatomy and poisons as she grew older. Her parents had her on track to take over the family business, but she never wanted that for herself. Despite being raised as an apothecary her true passion was botany and drawing. Botany was like second nature to her with all her knowledge of making medicines and her anatomy studies helped her improve her artistry. She left home at the age of 22 to start her own nursery and by the time she was 24 she was able to run a relatively successful business.

But by the time she was 25 she found herself on the run. Unbeknownst to her, her parents had gotten themselves into debt and were dealing with shady individuals and said individuals came to collect when her parents were nowhere to be found. Nim took up several odd jobs on the run to save money and find protection. She was able to do both but with her parents off the grid she had no idea whether she would be on the hook again, so she remained a rogue, to keep herself safe.

Extra: As Nim is a private person, she is almost always wearing a face covering. She also has a weakness for fruit.

I've been working on the intro post, I'm hoping to get it up tomorrow. Unsure when exactly the site is changing over to jcink, so it may depend on that.

I decided to use the same character creator to make an image. Mostly just the face matters. I'll finish the remainder of the bio soon, just want to get the IC up.
