Well, time to make some characters... I'll be adding them here as time passes.
Name: Soulless/Saneless
Age: Undetermined, at least 20. Appears no older than twelve, and no younger than ten.
Gender: Should be male.
Race: Thought of as a human, although holds inhuman qualities.
Build: Soulless/Saneless share one body. One half-starved, pale with lack of nutrients, short, ungainly body. Their body is obviously weak- his eyes are sunken in and one can see every rib and spinal bone in his body. However, the body moves and reacts as if he was perfectly healthy, and if provided enough food he would look fairly healthy. Surprisingly enough he does not seem to mind his thinness, albeit if provided food he would look far less thin but not less pale. His skin is white, although soft to the touch and not waxy, it is as white as paper and if one took a first glance he could appear to be something akin to the walking dead.
Hair: Soulless/Saneless's hair is dark and dirty with a long time without washing. Without the dirt and grime and dried blood, he would appear to have somewhat thin, jet black hair. Instead, it is thick with tangles, and goes down to his ears in length.
Eyes: Soulless's eyes (or rather, eye) are gentle and silver in color, expressing innocence and a happy, complacent expression at all times. Saneless's eyes (or rather, eye) are cold and hardened, and although still silver they are noticeably a shade darker than his light counterpart, and he holds a suspicious, malicious gaze at all time.
Distinctive features:
Soulless/Saneless's appearance appears to vary depending on who is in control at the time. When Saneless seems to control the body, he appears to be much older, at least fourteen to sixteen years of age, while in sharp contrast Soulless appears twelve to ten. Their height changes as well, Soulless being 5' and Saneless being 5'3", albeit this change is largely unexplained, upon questioning they say something along the lines of 'you're only as old as you feel'.
Clothes:
Soulless/Saneless claimed to have worn their outfit since forever, and it shows. It is dirty and worn, but clearly he wears a modified straitjacket, added with pockets and belts to hold whatever he needs to. His pants barely fit and are loose at his hips, but are accepted to be one-size-fits-all medical pants. Finally, he has worn down shoes, their soles flopping. The only thing that seems to matter most to them is their eyepatch, switching from one eye to the other to indicate what personality is around.
Weapon(s):
Soulless/Saneless have only one weapon. It is a dagger, that is surprisingly hollow, albeit one could not tell by looking alone. The dagger is old, looks somewhat dull, but is clearly still sharp. It is used to fill with their blood and, with their blood abilities, provide a nasty surprise.
Abilities:
Soulless/Saneless have two abilities, depending on who is in control of the body. They are unable to use both at the same time at this moment. One personality cannot use another personality's ability either, albeit their abilities can and often do work together quite well.
Soulless's ability is nonoffensive, but extremely effective. He as the ability to regenerate just about anything lost to him, especially any bodily fluids, mainly blood. In other words, when Soulless takes over it becomes quite the difficult task to kill him, as he regenerates whatever he has lost. Of course, this means he can heal injuries but rarely does so until after a battle, or in any other non-combat situation. He cannot survive immediately fatal injuries (shot to the head) and has extreme trouble with usually fatal injuries (damage to the heart/lungs, disembowlment, slit throat) but can regenerate from a normally fatal injury given time. He is able to regenerate a large gash complerely in three (3) posts, but can produce and replace his blood at such a rate that he rarely bleeds to death, only when a large artery/vein such as the jugular is cut.
As a setback to Soulless's extreme regeneration ability, he can only regenerate injuries when he is conscious enough to recognize his wounds. Also, he has a much harder time with burns and blunt trauma than simple cuts. If he is somehow knocked out via blow to the head or otherwise he cannot use any sort of regeneration. His body is very weak, and despite his extensive regeneration, he cannot fight.
Saneless's abilities are purely offensive. His ability is to manipulate his own blood, en masse. This allows him to use his blood to do anything he damn well pleases, so long as he doesn't die from blood loss. Paired with Soulless's regeneration, it basically has crazy ammo to assault with. This also means that he can forcibly bleed or manipulate his body to survive a large amount of injuries. If his heart is crushed he shall force his blood to beat on his own will, if he is disembowled he'll force the veins of his blood to hold his belly together, if he suffers a brain hemorrhage he'll force blood away. However, such extensive injuries basically means that when the battle is over he shall die, so he generally avoids injuries.
As a consequence, Saneless, despite his power with his blood, shall die if he runs out of blood. How much ammo he has depends on how much he can lose before his body cannot sustain itself. He wholly depends on Soulless to bleed for him before he can come into his full horrorific abilities. As a second note, his blood is rendered unusable in a variety of circumstances, including but not limited to:
-temperatures that would freeze his blood
-temperatures that would boil his blood
-a coagulant in some manner or form
-an acid in some manner or form
Other abilities/attributes:*
The main 'other' ability and one of the only two the two share at the moment is that neither one seems to be able to feel physical pain. Although they are aware of an injury if they are injured, neither seems to react in a normal manner to pain, or rather, they are not affected by whatever pain they may or may not experience. This rejection of pain seems to have developed over many years of honing their self-injury combat to an art. However, their combat is affected if they are given some kind of pain they can feel, whether because it is delivered in a way they've never experienced before or their mentality has somehow shifted to something less stable- leaving them open to have their only defense against pain shifted from them. Having lived so long without pain, they react extremely strongly to it, each personality having their own reaction.
If someone can call this an 'ability', then it is one they share: Their eyepatch is the gateway to who controls the body. Switching eyepatches means switching personalities. Each personality controls one 'eye', allowing them to control the body in turns. Therefore, the eyepatch must move from one eye to the other for a successful personality switch. If the eyepatch is removed, the two personalities will switch sporadically, as if fighting for control. If one of his eyes are destroyed, they regenerate very quickly, no matter who is in control. However, destroying one of their eyes is in effect cutting out one of the personalities, and this causes a huge imbalance in the mind, cutting off the personalities' connections with each other for months to come.
As an added note, personality switches take one(1) post, with opponent opportunity to interrupt.
Personality:
Soulless/Saneless differ greatly in their personalities, even though they depend on each other for survival.
Soulless is a very childish personality, seemingly incapable of being sad. He is largely mute, preferring to make animal noises instead of speaking, although he is fully capable of conversation. Like any child, he loves to play and does what he can to avoid duties and responsibilities, allowing himself to have all the fun he could in this eternal wonderland. He seems to carry a very lighthearted, optimistic view of the world and allows no one and nothing to bring him down from his happiness.
However, this takes a very dark turn when he is taken out of an element of safety and contentment. Soulless is unable to cope with loss properly, nor is he able to take bumps in the road of life with any kind of normalcy as a typical person would. Instead, he tends to accept things without any sorrow, no matter how close the person was to him. This can be considered soulless of him, hence his name, but in reality he has seen and experienced the loss of so much that he no longer goes through the grieving process, he skips from shock to acceptance almost immediately.
He wholly depends on his other personality for support, love, and protection. Because he claims to have outlived many people, he strongly depends on his other personality because he is frightened that other people shall die when he depended on them. However, being a child, he constantly looks for other adults to play his parental figures, as Saneless is no real substitute for a real parent.
Saneless depicts many attributes of a child forced to grow up too fast and too harshly. He is angry at the world, frustrated at everything, enraged at even the smallest of inconveniences. He is hardheaded and corrosive to those around him, even people he considers tolerable he is intolerant towards. He is a difficult personality to read, for with every kind thing he says he says fifty threats for cruelty, none of them empty.
It is hard to tell if you are friend or foe to him, but a few things are certain. He is very antisocial, so much so that despite being the 'stronger' personality, he allows Soulless to do as he pleases without limits... most of the time. He is also extremely loyal to Soulless, doing everything in his existence to protect the only thing important to him. Without Soulless by his side, no one knows what would happen to the fiercely burning spirit that is Saneless. As per his name, many consider him to be completely insane, going from calm to berserk in moments, unable to stay still, unable to trust, constantly paranoid and irrational towards just about any situation, trying to understand how he sees the world would only be possible if one first recognized that their norms have no basis in Saneless's mind.
Saneless depends on Soulless for personal care. Soulless is the one that holds him back from killing just about anyone he sees. Soulless is the one that calms him down from his anger, and allows him to achieve a level of inner peace he's never felt before. Soulless allows him, for once, to relax and unwind and to simply go with the flow. Because of that, he takes the boy in extremely high regard and there is no limit of what he is willing to do for the sake of his other personality. Killing women and children? Not a problem. Torturing innocents? Alright. The wonton slaughter of hundreds? He'd do it without the slightest amount of guilt.
Background:
Soulless/Saneless didn't come here by their will. They came from another place, a place far from here. There, they were practically a legend, a walking legend. They were that child that never died, that child who survived when no one else did. The child that survived when his kings and rulers died before him, the one that never aged. He wasn't particularly loved, he wasn't particularly hated. Soulless was more known, Saneless hid in the shadows and did all the work without any of the reputation, which suited him just fine.
But that land where they came from, things fell apart for them there. Soulless began to lose the people he looked up to, people that were described as gods. Those gods pit each other in wars and fights, destroying each other and themselves. And Soulless, somehow, always got involved in the affairs of them, and he grew close to each one... and they all died before him, and he outlived them all.
Things began to fall apart further, so much so that dimensions began to rupture and spill. The lands were dying, and they both knew this after staying here so long. So, they sought out the dimensional ruptures, to save the land where they lived, because there was no one left who still remembered the past as vividly as he. However, on a particular rift, Soulless tripped and fell into a chasm, and was taken to a land he was not at all familiar with.
A completely new land.
So the two personalities discussed, and decided to eek out a living in this strange place.
