I want some kind of feral ram/goat/faun humanoid...if that is on the table. Maybe some kind of exotic critter that lives in an arid mountainous area, rarely seen, tribal culture, shamanic religion. If that kind of thing is on the table I have a pretty fun character in mind.

Satyrs appear in Greco-Roman mythology, so it wouldn't be too unreasonable for a goat-like humanoid to live or to have lived in what essentially amounts to the Alps of Ruilira.

Alternatively, south of Kem and Ham, most of the land is pretty unexplored due to deserts. I could see a more animalistic possibly inhabiting that region, maybe the more mountainous, remote regions where humanity has little reason to explore.

Yep! You have the Hamites who have the whole ritualistic human sacrifice thing going on and I imagine in the Southern Continent (what basically amounts to Africa), there would be cannibalistic tribes. Maybe in the far north as well.

Awesome! I am picturing something less Greco-Roman. While the Ruilira may have had contact with them, maybe even capturing some or documenting(?), I imagine they might try to maintain their own culture...maybe with some influences from greater cultures? I guess it would depend on how much contact they would have. If they are mountainous, I could see them traveling up and down the mountain to trade etc. But I picture them being very mischievous, curious, and suspicious.

was the magic system discussed? I remember you wanted to involve some sort of mysticism based on the title but is it high or low magic?

I will probably have to talk with Lady Celeste about magic systems, but from the looks of it, it will probably be more low magic.

Hermetics - the laws of sacrifice. You must give up something of value to receive something of equal value. Raise the dead at the cost of another.

Sympathetics - the laws of sympathy, where like calls to like. Build a golem to do thy will. Use Voodoo dolls to take your revenge.

I was also thinking more along the lines of low magic, though the precise applications can still vary significantly. I can see both hermetics and sympathetics as you mentioned being possible, with different regions having their own variations in magic depending on cultural and environmental factors. The Viking-ish peoples, for instance, might be more inclined toward war-related magic and/or magic tailored to their relatively cold climates, to name just one example.

Low magic tends to be the law of sympathy, where like calls to like.

I could see hermetic-based magic being practiced by the Kemites and Hamites, especially with the latter having what basically amounts to child and livestock sacrifices.
