Default favorite video game growing up

OK so this is my first time ever creating a thread, but because I'm bored, and because I've lived a long time playing video games, like since the N64 era was when i started, not to discredit any only consoles such as atari or NES, but anyways while I was sitting around thinking about nothing I thought popped in my head. "video games really lack something that older games did pretty well." After pondering about it for a while I came to a conclusion, the reason why I love older games so much was because a lot of them had really good stories or just fun /interesting game play to them. For example a game I still love today is Pokemon snap. It was such an odd concept to take pictures of pokemon rather then beat them up and catch them, then either force them into slavery or live a pointless life in a computer LOL. Anyways I love that game because it was so different and well fun to play with friends either back then or even today. Hell even the graphics look amazing considering how old they are. Then again it uses a lots of brighter tones and not so many dark tones which help keeps it more lively.

Anyways I'm getting off topic. for those of you that have a special place in your heart for a old game back from your childhood that you wanna talk about go ahead. only rules are nothing in current gen consoles so xbox one, PS4 or wii U,. I am also banning discussions for military FPS like battle field, COD, metal of honor etc.

My favorite video game of all time with forever be final fantasy VI. So much so, I pretty much owned all the iterations besides the NES one. Had it for PS1, Gameboy, and online PSN.

I loved all the characters in that one. I think I can still recite all of them, even though it's been years since I've last played it.
Be wary of paramilitaries. When the men with guns who have always claimed to be against the system start wearing uniforms and marching around with torches and pictures of a Leader, the end is nigh. When the pro-leader paramilitary and the official police and military intermingle, the end has come.

honestly I never played too many FF games, only 10, 12, 13 (which killed me a little bit inside) and 8. I wanted to play 7 but I know the plot so I kinda doubt I'd really get into anymore, plus well it is pretty dated, maybe if Square enix gave us a remastered version of it like they teased all those year ago I'd play it but damn them for their lies.

    Also love the ME!ME!ME! Gif.

Sonic 2, hours upon hours playing that with my brother. I mostly just played Tails, probably where I picked up my reckless run-in tactics for video games because I didn't care otherwise. Was fun basically defeating the bosses too

oh I love all of your responses, I remember playing those games myself at friends houses and damn I just want to go back to the,. I really wish games were well just more simple minded base. instead of "stop a terrorist group from spread a airborne strain of Ebola-Aids or what the fuck ever." it should just be like, "have fun jumping on things to death collect items, and beat up asshole bosses, and maybe rescue a princess that will basically friend zone your ass after spending hours of doing crazy shit." LOL
