The world can be a dangerous place, but that is why Dragons and their riders partner up.

Welcome to Sunridge school of riding. Unlike any other school out there, this school was made to make sure you and your partner not only meet each other, but also work well together in various other situations.

You have finally reached the part of your training, where you and the dragons in your class can start talking about teaming up for exercises or missions with other recruits.

in this world; dangers, assignments, tasks, and missions are ranked from H to X. X being, only those with those with the most experienced should do.

Every Dragon and rider will have matching badges to show their rank. Pairs with Ranks D or less will be required to attend flight, strategy, tracking, or similar classes depending on what the pair are wanting to accomplish.

The world is a big one, but Sunridge School of riders is set into the crown of a mountain range and is just a days' flight from a large metropolitan city. Giving the school both the privacy it needs to teach and its' students to learn, while letting those that would like to a chance to fly into the city to to tasks or relax.

The city, looks modern, but it is a mix of magic and technology. The indoor lights and any special add-ons that dragons can request for their room are all magic, but buildings look magic, electricity is a thing. As are cars, but they don't seem to run on normal gas. As they sometimes release bits of static or storm clouds if they backfire.

H - the first and lowest rank a pair can get. Not much is expected from this rank
G - When a pair gets a little bit of experience, they gain this rank. While much still isn't expected but sometimes they can find a task away from the school
F - at this rank, partners are starting to be shown to work together, but still lacking in a lot other ways. simple tasks outside of school are most commonly this rank or the next rank up
D - While the pairs are still figuring things out at this rank, they are starting to earn the trust of those around them
C - At this rank, this is where dragons and riders start truly being put to the test and have more challenging requests to refill
B - At this rank is where partners or a group of them out on an expeditions that could last for months. Or even to face actually dangerous creatures.
A - This is a common rank among teachers at the school and other schools like it. Pairs that have decided the best that they can do are no longer out in the world, but teaching those younger than them how to survive and how to work together with those they choose to trust.
SS - Considered protectors of their perspective areas. They are viewed as leaders, celebrities, and heroes to the general population
X - Reserved for the oldest most experienced Dragons and riders, that can handle just about anything that you can throw at them

Name: Red
Age: 26
Type of breathe: Flame

Spoiler: Appearance 

Human form looks to be about ten years old.


Personality: Curious, slow to trust, very wary around new people. Likes cats, sometimes stares at them like she's having a mental conversation with them.
Bio: Her egg was stolen from her mother's nest and she was born in captivity. Her captor fed her fish, and she grew well. However, he was too impatient to ride her, so tried to mount her when she was barely the size of a pony.


For whatever reason, he tried to use spurs on her to get her flying, but they just glanced off her scales, so he tried striking her flanks with a horse whip. She bit off the whip hand and a good half of his forearm.


Quick thinking grooms cauterized the stump, and he ordered her cage to be covered by a large tent. She spent a decade in darkness, her only companions were feral cats. Finally, someone opened the door to her cage and before they knew what was happening, she'd dove through the opening and took to the skies.


She was spotted by a rider team and after several failed attempts, they manage to entice her to the school.

Name: Rocco Swiftens
Age: 13
Gender: male
Appearance: A thin boy with sandy blonde fluffy hair that makes him look like a que-tip from a far. He usually dresses in baggy brown shorts and big, tall boots which he occasionally trips over. He carries a jewel tied to a leather rope around his neck.
Personality: A cautious but eager learner, he's very excited for the days that he get to ride a dragon. He's an avid studier, so he's often found in the library, observing the dragons from afar, or asking experienced students a million questions.
Bio: Being able to go to this school was his dream since he was...well, younger. His dad is familiar with riding dragons, but he doesn't have a partner and isn't as into it as Rocco is. His parents visit occasionally, but he sometimes has a hard time being away from them.
Best skill: Endless energy to study or practice!
Preferred job: He'd love to work with the dragons as a job, possibly in grooming or cleaning the stalls or feeding them.
Partner: none yet!

Name: Lavender Pearls
Age: 92 dragon years, about late 40's or 50's in human years
Type of breathe: watery acid (like a lizard)
Appearance:
Personality: Soft, sweet, gentle, and kind. She likes to listen to young'uns and take care of others lovingly.
Bio: Since her owner died, she was donated to the education system. She makes a great teacher for young dragon riders, since she's got such great patience.
Best skill: Patience and carefulness.
Preferred job: a dragon to help train the human beginners how to ride and care for other dragons.

Name: Nixie

Personality: She is smart but cautious or at least has taught herself to be cautious. When shes' not, her curiousity can get the better of her and sometimes put her in potentially dangerous situations.
Bio: Nixie grew up in a clan of dragons that lived on the edge of the territories. Where few humans roamed, some of the dragons in the clans had never even seen a human. She came across them when she was young, she had fallen prey to a human trap. She at wondered out of the nest and just a little too far from her family and the safety of the clan. When the trap wrapped her up, even managing to tangle her mouth so she couldn't call out to her family for help. When the trappers came for her, she was panicking having seen such creatures and they terrified her. There was nothing she could do though, as she struggled against her binds. Unable to move the way she wanted too. They dragged her back to camp and when they got tired of her wiggliness and pulled out a knife. Finding the spot under her wings, where her scales were soft and knicked it with the knife.

The pain made her stop hold still, petrified as to what these strange beasts might do to her if she did anything else. Leaving it so all she could do was watch as the strangers came and went, telling how many days went by, by the changing length of shadows and after a few days. She heard a roar that made the trees rustle, a squeak of surprise stuck in her throat. As the beasts that had held her captive all this time, were clearly surprised and a bit scared.

After a few moments a massive black dragon landed, making her heart soar with hope. As the beasts scattered, her heart sank when she noticed a similar beast getting off the dragons' back. Watching it give chase to the others of it's kind and was even more surprised when the dragon turned into one of the beasts. Nixie started to freak out, but the older dragon growled at her to calm down and when she stopped moving. He explained everything as he untangled her. When he was done, his rider came back with two of the trappers who had caught her. They tied the bad humans up and the black dragon changed back to his dragon form. Escorting her back home and answering her million questions on the way back.

He nearly got attacked by her clan when they arrived, but nudged her forward and warned her to be more careful. Which she promised and thanked him for saving her. Her family berated her, but it wasn't the last time she went out. Far from it, from that day on. Whenever, she noticed a hatchling wasn't there. She would go looking for them and over the years got better at not only spotting traps, but seeing trappers before they saw her. She remembered the black dragons words, "We work together, because that way we can save more." She strived to help her protect hatchlings in the clan and taught hatchlings to see the traps as well.

So by the time she left to see if having a human partner was as helpful as the black dragon had made it sound, most of the dragons younger than here knew to be wary of the trappers, how to find the traps and trappers should someone disappear, and how to call her. Should her clan ever need her.

because unlike most of her classmates, she isn't used to being in her human form. The Academy has allowed her to stay in one of the dragon caves instead of a normal student room, at least until she gets more comfortable

Personality: Determined and stubborn, she likes to go her own way and this can get her into trouble
Bio: Her uncle was part of a dragon rider duo and every time she saw him growing up. He always seemed to have the best of stories and at some point that she'd started thinking of dragon riders like treasure hunters or adventurers. Even though her uncle tried to tell her many times that, that isn't what it was about at all and that those things were only part of the job. She didn't listen though and still looks forward to being able to go out with her rider and find all the secret and hidden treasures of the world.

Name: Lyon
Age: 17

Personality: Comes off as confident and sure of himself, but that is to hide his inner fears. Will take on any challenge given to him, to prove he belongs.
Bio: He was born to a family that wasn't rich, but wasn't exactly poor either. He grew up learning how to mend saddles and stitching together leather armor, but when he had a chance he would have his gaze up at the sky. Always in wonder of the way they moved and what secrets they must hold.
One day he fixed up the leather strap for a dragon rider, when he over heard his father telling about his latest adventure. As well as how it felt like they could touch the stars when him and his dragon flew together. The very idea of it was simply amazing and he wondered if it was true. When the dragon spotted him and took the sword. So the two of them were soon on their way.

It was probably only a few months after that, that the fire claimed his familys' home and his family too. Lyon had never felt so weak before, so made the choice then and there that he'd force himself to forget about the stars. He wouldn't be weak, he had to be strong. Strong enough to keep everyone safe, strong enough to not be able to do anything when someone needed help. He needed to be stronger.

So the following years doing just that, practicing swordsmanship until he'd drop. Fixing his own equipment, so he wouldn't have to spend money to do that. Doing any heavy lifting people would pay him for, creating a new personality to help him get stronger. A personality that he thought would leave no one thinking he was weak.

Despite his convictions, he sometimes still found himself secretly looking at the sky.

When he got accepted to the Academy, the people around him like it was obvious that he had gotten in. He too acted like that, but it is something he is still fighting to believe to this day. However, he is determined to touch the stars become stronger than anyone else.

Other: has scars from the fire, but just like his emotional scars. He too hides these and is content in letting you think he is perfect

Personality: kind of aloaf, he tries things, but he is sometimes quick to give up when things don't seem to go his way. He does care for people though and that seems to be when his true strength shows itself
Bio: He was born to a family of dragon riders, both is his parents, at least one of his grandparents and a couple of his siblings are or were all dragon riders. He isn't certain if it is some thing that he wants to do, but he was expected to go into the Academy. So he is following his familys' wishes, just kind of going along with it
Best skill: Archery and mathematics

Other: he loves hoodies, they are his comfort zone. It is not uncommon for him to have snacks hidden in his hoody pockets
