ingredients
a few fresh strawberries (not wild if possible)
a cup of butter (soften)
a cup - 2 cups of powdered sugar
Tip 1: The reason I said a few strawberries. Is due to the fact that the size of the strawberries, can change the number
Tip 2: feel free to use as much powdered sugar that you need. The strawberry juice can make the icing thin. Especially, if too much strawberry is used. Look on the bright side though! All that means, is that you will get more icing!
Tip 3: If the icing comes out a little thin, then stick it in the fridge for a few hours. that should help it hard and thicken up. If too thin, this won't help
1. The first thing you are going to want to do, is put all the ingredients out for an hour or so before. So that the butter can soften. Before you leave the ingredients alone though, grab 2-3 strawberries and cut them as finely as you can. If you aren't putting them through a piping bag, they are allowed to be a little thicker. Then put the sliced strawberries into a small bowl and leave do something; possibly make what you want to put icing on. This lets both the butter soften and strawberries time for the juice to come out.
2. mix a cup in a half of powdered sugar and butter in together. You can use a mixer if you want, I tend to mix by hand. It takes a little longer, but allows me a little more control over it. If you mix in a mixer, start at slow; so that the powdered sugar doesn't fly everywhere. Then work your way, into a higher speed. Until the two are mixed together.
3. (optional) The strawberries, should have a little juice in them. It may not look like a lot, but it typically turns out to be more than you think. I also smash the sliced berries with a fork, it gets a little more juice out and easier to go through a piping back. You don't have to do this though.
4. Add the strawberries, again you can use a mixer. I do by hand, because it is not only one of my thinner icings. It is also allows me to fold the icing, to makes sure that every little bit is soaked with delicious strawberry taste!
5. (optional, but typically recommended) Like I just mentioned, this icing can be thin. I have found that putting it in the fridge for a few hours. Helps to thicken it up
6. Apply or eat: Apply it on what you wanted to put it on or just eat it.
