Name: Spinks Cobblebeam Liabold
Age: 57
Gender: Male
House: Former Hufflepuff
Year: N/A
Physical Description: Mr Liabold is an old, haggard yet friendly man who spends most of his time with his nose and attention buried in some old tome he’s come by. He is shaped rather much like a pear, with a thin, wrinkled, bald head that curves downwards into a rather fat beer-belly. His face is always well shaven aside from his sideburns, which slowly shift down his jawbone until sprinkling out into a hap-hazard smattering of small white hair across his sagging, wrinkled cheeks and his three chins. He often wears plaid or flowery shirts and dusty tartan waistcoats that look like they should have far more moth-holes within them than they already do. Beneath Mr Liabold’s fat stomach is a pair of spindly legs, seeming strangely thin for a man of his size. Covering these stick-thin legs are a pair of brown suit trousers that are slightly scuffed at their hem, being too long for the rather short man – as mr Liabold only stands at around 5’5.
Personality: Mr Liabold is a very nice, if not simple man. He spends his time with his books and is always enthusiastic to see others enjoying his tomes as much as he does. When his customers ask him for help he is always happy to provide it. He also has what the muggles call a ‘photographic memory’ and is therefore able to remember the location of all the books within his store.
Brief History: Mr Spinks Cobblebeam Liabold was a past student at Hogwarts. Being a halfblood, Mr Liabold aimed to try to impress his wizarding mother, but his magical affinity was often called into question due to the fact that his spellcasting has only retained a level just above that of a squibs – that is, whilst he can cast incredibly basic spells he is essentially a squib with some level of spellcasting. However, one thing that Mr Liabold always had over the rest of the students in his generation at Hogwarts was his love for reading and his photographic memory. Despite not being able to pass classes related to wand based magic, Mr Liabold succeeded at classes that involved a less wand-related touch, learning recipes and techniques off by heart after only a few scans of related books within the library.
After leaving Hogwarts, Mr Liabold decided that – after having a brief tenure with the Ministry of Magic – he would open his own book shop on Diagon Alley, named ‘Liabold’s Library’. Since its opening, it’s been a popular area for Witches and Wizards to find books on academia, magic, fiction and non-fiction. The Library gains particular interest due to it’s carefully regulated dark magic section and its section on Muggle studies, including multiple old newspapers on Muggle events such as ‘World War II’ and the ‘Moon Landing’.
