I’m sure you’ve heard by now that April is writing month on RPA! We have some fabulous writers on the forum who never cease to amaze and impress… But are you ready for the ultimate test of endurance and creativity?
RPA proudly presents…
The premise is simple. Every day in April, we will post a new topic for you to write about. You will then have 48 hours to submit a writing of any kind to the contest (see rules below for guidelines and restrictions). Complete the marathon by giving us a piece of writing for each day’s topic and win an award!
~Your work may be any format that you like or prefer. Fiction. Poetry. Non fiction. Song. Personal account. Commercial. And it can take any form you like! It can be paragraphs, stanzas, rhyming or free style. Whatever! And you can switch it up from day to day.
~Submissions will be posted in this thread! So let’s keep the extra chatter to a minimum, yes?
~Submissions must be at least 250 words in length. That’s easy! You can totally do that! And they have to be your own work that you did just now. Copy/pasting from another website, or from an rp or short story you’ve written before is naughty and you shouldn’t do it.
~Even though you have 48 hours to submit the writing for a particular topic, there will be a new theme each day. That’s okay! You can keep writing your submission for April 1st and submit it on April 2nd, even though there is a new topic, and then still participate in the topic for the 2nd! Make sense?
~There can and might be multiple winners! If no one completes the entire month, we’ll award first place to the people who completed the most topics. We’ll give some extra rep to the second and third placers, too, so if you miss a day or two, don’t give up! Plus we've got an extra prize or two for those who participate in certain predetermined days!

Welcome to the third year of our Writer's Marathon!
What is the Marathon? Every day in April we'll post up an new topic for you to write about, and for each topic you get 48 hours to submit your work. Your written work can be done in any style you wish! Also this year we plan to shake things up a little!
Here's the rules and details!
~ Submit your work each day into this thread - Please keep chatter to a minimum!
~ Your work can really be anything! Short story, essay, poem - anything you want to do! Choose which ever form you want - and feel free to mix up styles, a song one day, a non fiction report the next.
~ Submissions must be at least 250 words. This must be work you've done now for this contest, not something pre-written from an RP or short story.
~ Even though you have 48 hours to submit the writing for a particular topic, there will be a new theme each day. That’s okay! ~ This year we will be adding in something new to break things up: Sprint Days. With these you'll be given 3 topics to write about, although you will be required to write less for each of these. Just 100 words a topic. These topics cannot be combined into one lengthy piece - unless it is clearly shown where they separate.

Welcome to the fourth annual RPA Writer's Marathon!
"What is the Marathon?"
Every day of April, you'll be given a writing prompt. Then, you'll have 48 hours (ish) to submit your work, based on the given prompt. Your work can come in any style you wish, and you can join in at any time, even if you miss some days. It's all about having fun!
"So what are the rules?"
- Submit your work each day into this thread - Please keep chatter to a minimum!
- Your work can really be anything! Short story, essay, poem - anything you want to do! Choose which ever form you want - and feel free to mix up styles. You can submit a poem one day, a story the next, an essay... Anything you want!
- Submissions must be at least 250 words. This must be work you've done now for this contest, not something pre-written from an RP or short story.
- Entries may be mature, but they must be labeled as such [M] and spoilered!
- Even though you have 48 hours to submit the writing for a particular topic, there will be a new theme each day. That’s okay! You can keep writing your submission for April 1st and submit it on April 2nd, even though there is a new topic, and then still participate in the topic for the 2nd! Make sense?
- We can have more then one winner! Those who participate for the most days, whether that is for the full month or not will receive an award!

Every year for the RPApril Site Event, the writer's marathon is hosted. This event forces writers out of their comfort zone and into the challenge presented. Every day a new prompt will be available for writers to look at and take upon the challenge of. The writer is given 48 hours to complete the prompt and post it here in its respected thread. At the end of the thirty days, those who complete the marathon will earn a badge. Those who complete the most days (but not the entire 30) will be given a second place badge. There might even be other badge surprises that await.
