The year is 1909. The world's economy is booming as fresh access to raw resources from colonies drives innovation. The powers of Europe have formed alliances to protect their colonial interests in new territories. Uneasy peace exists between them; The Entente of Ebon and The Central Federation. Conflicting claims in Africa and Oceania have come to a head, and nations rally for volunteers to bolster their armies should war break out. Recruits with technical skills and education are in high demand to pilot huge war machines known as Stompers

*The approximate layout of the vehicles is as follows:

The main body consists of a roughly prolate spheroid (football shape) with a case mate (mounted in the hull) gun offset to it's left side. The armour is ~7" of steel sloped at 45 degrees.

The driver sits at the football's point with a personnel hatch and number of periscopes to offer a good field of view forward and poor views of each side and to the rear. The driver controls the engine speed; direction, speed of travel; vehicle clearance.
The main gunner sits slightly behind, to the driver's right. They have a number of periscopes and an aiming sight for the main gun, but poor viability of the vehicle's left. They have an emergency hatch to their right. They have a medium machine gun mounted at their station facing to the vehicle's right/forward arc. Their gunnery controls adjust the vehicle's bearing.
The commander sits behind the gunner near the top of the footballs's center, to the gun's right.
The commander has a cupola with 360 periscopes and a hatch. Behind the commander's seat is the radio for communication outside the vehicle. Mounted behind the commander's cupola on the hull is a heavy machine gun for ground and air targets.

The body is held up by six large legs with round, puck like solid rubber feet.
Each leg has three points of articulation, a shoulder where it mounts to the hull, an elbow and a wrist that mounts the rubber puck. The vehicle can move across all terrain and has a clearance of 8'. The vehicle can be lowered all the way down so it's hull rests on the ground.
When operating on roads the vehicle can rotate it's rubber feet and use them as wheels for faster travel. The vehicle is able to operate with two legs non-functional.

You have completed months of classroom training leading up to this, the final test known as 'Walking through Hell', a gruelling week long live fire exercise where each unit's effectiveness is tested in combat before they are deployed to battle grounds. Your training class was loaded into transport truck and taken to the fields where your walkers rested.
The crews were divided into two teams. One group tasked with holding a line, and your group tasked with breaking through. Each crew was sent to their vehicle while the Commanders rallied for a briefing.

Personal History: Born in England, Georgine was a quick study in school, graduating with top marks through grade school and high school. Her family wasn't well off enough to afford to send her to collage so she joined the Royal military academy. Fresh out of the academy she was assigned to command a squad of new recruits.

Personality traits: Very intelligent, she likes to keep things short and to the point. Formalities and protocol can grate on her if she needs things done.

Born in Kansas, USA, Terrica was always fascinated with machines.
Not one to tolerate bullies or rude behavior, she was always looking out for the little guy, from the 2nd grade through college. Graduated with a major in mechanics and engineering.
Worked for Ford manufacturing before, during and after college, and enlisted into the army reserves before the war. Basic combat and weapons training, and mechanical training.
Served as maintenance crew at the start of the war.
Criminal record: none
Kind and gentle, but firm at the same time.
Does not like foul language of any sort, especially around any sort of machinery.
Will not take any sort of abuse or bullying.
Will get annoyed, or even frustrated, when the machines under her watch and care break down or need serious repair.

Piercing icy blue eyes. Raven black hair. Possessing a decidedly British skin color the sun is clearly a stranger to him. James is slender but well built and his face almost always bears a smirk or a grin as though the world itself amuses him. He has a scar that extends from just over his defined jawline down his neck and down the front disappearing into his shirt. Around his neck he wears a his dog tags along with several other amulets.


Personal History:
Born in England. Possesses wealth beyond what he could have possibly acquired himself indicating family wealth. He keeps information about who he was before he joined the armed forces hidden. James joined precisely to escape from all of that.


Personality traits:
Prone to humming and on the rare occasion singing, James almost always looks amused by something. In the face of the darkness he has suffered in his life he had decided to laugh, a attitude that had not garnered him much sympathy and had caused him to commit multiple social faux pas in the past. His inability to fit into normal society is one of the things that drove him to seek out a life in the armed forced. He is a dedicated and loyal soldier and is very efficient at achieving the various objectives and tasks set before him. Jame has high hopes about his future in the military possessing a keen military mind.

Personal History: Was born in the United States in the state of Vermont and was always loving the giant mountains. He isn't a very strong person, quite frail actually, but he was always really fast. He was always interested in cars and he was a test driver for quite a while. He was always fascinated by really fast cars. He decided to join the army as a driver because he was a really great driver.

Personality traits: He is a really nice man but he can be easily scared at times. He's great to work with and to just
hang out with. He seems very determined almost all the time and tries his best to never give up.

Personal History: A rebel rouser from Northern Ireland. Fond of singing and shooting. Parents were murdered by an English aristocrat who got off scot-free. Known to have served in the French Foreign Legion before deserting and changing his name and burning the repository where his records were kept. His brother was killed in a bar fight, and his betrothed was taken by TB. Brags to be a ‘perpetrator of all crimes, singer of all songs, and hater of all English’. A drinker, smoker, and gambler. Carries two unmarked books, one of which is sewn shut by a piece of cloth. He signed on with the army as a means to escape the FFL, counting service to England only a slightly better option than imprisonment. He is jaded, but secretly a gentleman.
Description: Broad, square frame. Constant expression of thinly masked rage. Brown unkept hair. Sunburned skin. A white shirt that hides hundreds of scars all over his body. He is proud, however, to have suffered no marks on his face. Twenty-one tallies are tattooed on his right wrist. He has an aversion to wearing jackets as his brother was strangled to death by his own jacket in a bar fight. He wears his brother’s blue workman’s hat, his betrothed’s bloodstained scarf, and boots with trousers and suspenders from the FFL. Pockets are full of pistols, knives, whiskey, tobacco, and a card deck.
Personality traits: Brazen, yet cold. Uses bluster as a wall to hide his deep, dark thoughts. Secretly still believes there is good in the world, but also believes he will never find it. He gains much joy in seeing his own pain in the hearts of others.

Personal History: Born in St. Petersburg Russia, Dasha isn't a natural born American. She has lived most of her life in Russia and only moved to United States a few years ago. Dasha is the great granddaughter of Tsar Nicholas I and a distant cousin of the current Tsar Nicholas II. Her mother was a minor royal and her father a noble. Growing up she lived in the countryside outside of St. Petersburg enjoying life in the country, at least until her father died in a riding accident when she was eleven. Her mother then moved back to the city where she met Francis Stewart the American ambassador to Russia. After a few years the two were married. At the onset of the 1905 revolution Francis moved the family from Russia to up state New York, fearing for his wife and step daughter as public opinion of the royal family way low.

Dasha wasn't happy to be leaving her home country but understood the risks they took if they stayed. It was helpful that moved back to the countryside. She was able to resume riding and hunting. Both activities were something she did with her father so it was nice to have that reminder. With tensions growing in Europe Dasha joined the Army as a Gunner.

Personality traits: Despite being a royal and a noble Dasha is a very down to earth person. She isn't one for formalities. If you didn't know her background you would never expect that she has the social standing that she does. She is a carefree person and enjoys have a good time. Dasha tends to be very flirty with just about everyone she meets whether she is attracted to them or not. That is just how she is.
