We all need friends.
The facts about it are pretty clear.
Friends, family. Significant others.
This is what we need, right?
As we grow into this world,
we are taught specific truths that
make absolutely no sense to us then
and there.
But as we grow, and as we observe,
the more the world influences us.
Commercials. Tv.
Imagery projected at us to "educate."
Help us understand the ways of this world,
blindly follow a dim promise of happiness
if more people accept you, when really,
the only person that needs to accept you...
Is you.
In a world so bitter and cold, we choose
to crawl up together and warm ourselves
in each others life-hearth.
Never stopping to think of that loneliness
might just be another word for self-
hatred.
We are told to be ourselves constantly,
but somehow we keep forgetting who that
"self" is.
Merrily and obliviously stumbling away
with someone we need to care for and
look after more than we look after our-
selves, when, in reality, we are fading away
in the process.
And one day, when you're lying in bed,
facing the ceiling and wondering what is
missing, you need only walk over to the
closest mirror and realize:
"Wow... Haven't seen this one in a while."
Care more for yourselves.
Because for most, it is already too late.
