Took the right entrance - Trap
P.K. Ventured forth through the right Entrance. There could only be so much waiting for her through these catacombs right? Most would be expected for anyone who had watched adventure movies, where they ventured into ancient tombs and such.
She paused at the end of the short tunnel, having taking her time in choosing her steps. There had been no traps in that short trek but as she looked into the next room She had to take a step back.
There was a massive hole in the floor, a pit so far down she couldn’t see the bottom. She picked up a bit of rubble and dropped it down but no sound greeted her back. “Well, that’s Disheartening.” She murmured as she glanced through the room. There was a way across, but she wasn’t sure she trusted any of the numerous ropes hanging down from the darkened ceiling… Some seemed to have rotted away and there were gaps in the otherwise organized rows she could see.
At the end of each rope hung a small letter, no bigger than her palm, dangling perilously over the endless casem that was that hole. “There’s a puzzle here.” She mused chewing on her lip in thought as she looked over the walls, looking for a key or a clue. She spotted the notched on the wall to her right and brushed away the years worth of dust and dirt revealing small letters that read.
‘Your home away from home, or your home in your home
Where'er you may dwell, a place you are endlessly welcome
Filled with friends, with family and with Adventure
Brimming with Madness and Sanity
A boiling pot of just twowords.”
P.K. frowned softly as her fingers ran over the markings. A home away from Home? Or a home with in her home? A place of welcome, a place filled with family and friends and a place filled with Madness and Sanity?
She stepped back, turning to look at the ropes. She crouched so she was looking directly at the letters at level.
“A boiling pot of just two words.” She mused rubbing her head. “Couldn’t be America, that’s one words.” And it’s not always so welcoming… She regretfully admitted. “Pretty sure it's not the Dream world…” She said before her eyes narrowed on the ‘R’ But there was another place stuck between the Real world and the dream world that was the best of both words.
“Brimming with madness and Sanity, Friends and Family gather in and endlessly welcomed adventure.” P.K. smiled before she stepped forward, pushing off the ledge and latching onto the ‘R’ rope as tightly as she could. Her breath caught in her throat as she looked down, but the Rope help steady. She was positive she had the right ideas but she held her breath as she located the next letter. ‘O’ Swinging the rope back and forth as she leaped for the next rope latching onto it with baited breath.
If Roleplay Adventures was indeed right, she had a long way to go yet and no time to waist… She needed to Locate ‘L’. She swung back and forth before leaping, She caught hold of the ‘L’ Rope but her other hand desperately snatched onto another rope to balance out the wild swinging only for it to tear violently away nearly dragging her down with it as it plummeted into the darkness just below her feet.
She clung desperately to the rope for a long moment to catch her breath before pulling herself higher to locate the ‘E’ Rope and she could make out the ‘P’ Rope just behind it. If she didn’t hurry she’d run out of stamina. ‘L’ and then ‘A’ already her fingers were beginning to cramp and she still had all of Adventures to spell out.
She calmed herself before swinging again and taking that leap to the next letter, and then the next. She’d completed Roleplay when she started to slip. She almost wished that she had the skills of those strange dancers that used long ropes and cloths to do dances in the air.
She groaned as she forced herself to swing before forcing a grim smile. She’d make it! She wasn’t going to die here! She grabbed a hold of the ‘A’ Rope and used the swinging there to latch onto the ‘D’ and then the ‘V’. She was losing height again so she forced herself to climb once again. ‘E’ and then and then ‘N’ She was so close now. If she didn't hurry her body would give out. ‘T’ and then ‘U’ and finely ‘R’.
She was breathing heavily now but she could see the other side. If she could just get to the last ‘E’ She bet she could skip ‘S’ Altogether if she swung far enough. Her hand slipped when she reached for the last ‘E’ and she nearly plummeted but she caught hold of the end of the rope last second and dangled for a long moment staring down into the darkness.
Always at the last moment a hero found their last ounce of strength. And P.K. was no different. She pulled herself up further looking to the ledge before she began to swing. Just once more and she could make it to the other side.
She pulled back once more, feeling her shoulders brush the other ropes. Before she swung forward, leaping off the rope as its highest point and flying through the air.
She summoned her giant pencil forth and stabbed it in between the tracks of the stone as she collided with the corner, her pencil catching and stopping her fall.
She was winded but in a moment she pulled herself up, rolling into her back and laughed breathily.
