    Rough rules for the Tribune Articles

    What to expect this Month:

    A brief description of the events, as well as threads created for the event if created.

    Member of the Month recognition; a link to the MotM thread as well as a brief "shout out" as to why they were chosen.

    Whether or not they get a Contribution Award or something else for it is up to the Staff.


    Ongoing Writing Piece

    Rules:

    1. Submissions are limited to 500 words.
    2. All content must be rated PG-13 or lower.
    3. The winning submission will be chosen by newspaper/site staff based on continuity, creativity and quality.
    4. Entries can be sent via pm to G or Miss Fortune

    Who the submissions are submitted to can be changed, of course.

    Roleplay Advertisement

    1. (Optional) Post a 150x150 pixel picture in relation to your roleplay
    2. Add a link to the OOC and IC threads. If your roleplay doesn't have an IC, that's fine.
    3. Add a brief description of your roleplay.
    4. Max of 2-3 roleplays advertise per issue.
    5. Please contact us if your roleplay no longer needs advertising before the next issue is posted.

    Roleplay Spotlight

    Tribune Staff Rules

    1. All roleplays up for the Roleplay Spotlight must have a link to the OOC and IC (if available).
    2. Maximum of 300 words description for why the roleplay was chosen, as well as special mention to the GM.
    3. Spotlight roleplays are chosen based on creativity, dedication of the GM and players, unique character sheets or whatever else that the Staff member feels makes the roleplay worth highlighting.
    4. Deadline is 2 to 3 days before the issue is to be posted.
    5. If a decision cannot be made to limit the spotlight to one roleplay, those with the most in favor are posted.

    Character Spotlight

    Staff rules

    1. Always include the Member's name, character name and a small version of the character appearance if available.
    2. The image should at least be 200x200 maximum, or 170x150 minimum. Smaller size preferred to preserve space.
    3. Include a link to the Character Sheet Post, as well as the Roleplay it was found in.
    4. Optional: an IC post from the member showcasing the character. Can be included as a link or in a quote.
    5. More than one Character can be showcased if a decision can't be met.
    6. Brief reason why the Character was chosen.

    Private Roleplay Spotlight

    Staff rules

    Member Recognition

    Staff rules

    1. Name of the Member, and name of the Staffer that wrote the article.
    2. Minimum of 200 words, a max of 500.
    3. Article can include funny quotes, links to Roleplays, Request Shops, pictures and artwork of the member, as well as why they were chosen.
    4. If a tie breaker can't be reached if more than one member was recommended, then both members receive recognition.

    Getting to know a Member

    Staff rules

    1. All RPA rules apply.
    2. Interviews are not about airing dirty laundry. Discussing anything related to drama other than soap opera shows is not allowed.
    3. Interview questions can be about numerous things relating to RPA and the member's life offline.
    4. No personal information such as date of birth, full name, address, etc should be asked. Asking if a member would be comfortable telling you their first name and birthday is a different story.
    5. Try to stay on topic with the interview questions.
    6. The format in which the interviewer wishes to type up the interview is up to them. Normal Q & A style is allowed.
    7. We reserve the right to deny, modify or move your interview to a later article.
    8. In case an interviewee cannot show, another person should be notified to fill in the spot.

    Member rules

    1. You have the right to be interviewed but that does not mean you have rights to post the interview elsewhere on the site. All Tribune Interviews are reserved for the Tribune and Staff for upcoming articles.
    2. If you are chosen to be interviewed, you have a deadline. Last minute interviews are not fair to us.
    3. If you cannot make time for the interview, it is your duty to inform us at least 2 or 3 days ahead of the issue date.
    4. We have the right to deny, modify or arrange the interviews debut as we see fit.
    5. Being interviewed is a privilege that you can lose, as well as all that goes along with it.
    6. If you feel that you would make for a good interviewee, please submit your reasoning - at least 200 words - and all examples you have as proof to your claims. Acceptable examples: links to roleplays you've been in/GM'd, blog entries, threads you've created - if creditable, artwork or stories you've created.

    Pet of the Month

    Monthly feature unless changed by popularity.

    Member rules

    1. Name of the Pet and Member
    2. 400x400 pixel picture of the pet.
    3. 100 or 200 max word blurb/summary of why your pet deserves the spotlight.
    4. Max of one submission per month. Pets can only win once.

    The Artist Corner

    Artist Spotlight

    Staff Rules

    1. Please include the name of the artist/member/writer, as well as all pictures/writings/poems that you feel should be shown.
    2. Make sure all links to whatever you use is available in a neat fashion in both the discussion and final draft section. Links to threads, posts, blogs etc will be used as a resource/works cited footnote or header based on article writer's preference.
    3. Reps given for pictures/writings/artwork/poems unless in blogs are appreciated, especially if the artist is spotlighted in the issue.
    4. Please do not suggest yourself. Other Tribune members are allowed to be showcased but promoting the Members not on Tribune or RPA staff is appreciated.
    5. Research the artist/writer. Consider a small, maybe 100-200 word write up, including the mediums they use - such as programs, paints, etc. Try to find as much information as you can about their inspiration, when they started writing/drawing. You may contact the member to ask questions if you're having a hard time writing but it can kill the surprise.

    Artist/Writer Tips and Advice

    Staff rules

    For Critiques

    1. Anyone who submits artwork must be able to accept criticism. In no way are we to insult their works. Positive and negative feedback would be helpful but please be as impartial as possible but also cautious.
    2. Members who take offense to the critiques/suggestions written by Tribune Staff are held responsible for their actions. If they PM the person doing the write-up or a Staff member with a complaint, please be courtesy about it.
    3. Critiques can include links to tutorials that may help them, as well as a small article pertaining to their works.
    4. Try to be as helpful as possible.

    Member Rules

    For critiques

    1. You are allowed to submit artwork, at limit of three pictures/graphics you've made. If it is artwork or poems, depending on the size and word count.
    2. For poems, 2 or 3 max, depending on size. Writings: max of one writing with 500 words or more, no more than 1,000.
    3. Include your name and titles to all writings, artwork and links to threads/blogs you've posted them in.
    5. Include a brief description for each picture/writing as well as what you're looking for.
    6. Submissions are to be PM'd to Miss Fortune or Alice.

    For Advice: Members

    1. Your username, as well as title of your article.
    2. Max of 500 words. Limited to one or two articles; separate
    3. Do not copy and paste another person's article or advice. Doing such without permission from the writer will result in the article being removed from the issue if plagiarism is suspected. Badges/Awards will not be given to people suspected of cheating.
    4. You are free to paraphrase (summarize in your own words) the works of another person.
    5. Explain your topic(s) clearly.
    6. Resources and references are required if you are writing based on someone else's advice/opinions.
    7. Submissions are to be PM'd to Miss Fortune or Alice. If your article is chosen, it will be posted in the next issue.

    For Tutorials

    1. Member name and title to the tutorial, as well as the programs you use.
    2. Please provide a brief description of what it is you will be discussing.
    3. Tutorials may be in relation to World Creation, Paintings, Drawings, Digital Artwork, Graphic Design, Textography, etc.
    4. You may include pictures with your tutorial for step by step styles. Videos of your tutorials are acceptable as well. If you cannot do video or picture tutorials, text tutorials are fine but please make them detailed and understandable. Members may PM you about questions about your tutorial or issues they have with following it.
    5. All tutorials must be your own work. If you are suspected of stealing another person's work, the tutorial will be removed from the issue and you risk being suspended from participating.

    Weekly Comic Strip

    1. All RPA rules apply; Mature themes such as extreme violence, sexual content, excessive alcohol use is not allowed because of young viewers.
    2. Minimum of two panels per comic strip; Maximum of 6. Because the size of the panels is not limited, please keep it a decent size and be wary of page stretching. If you think your comic strip with stretch the page horizontally, it is preferred for the panels to be stacked on top of each other.
    3. No copyrighted work is allowed. If the comic is found to not be the member's personal work, it will not be published in the Tribune.
    4. Member submissions are to be PM'd to Imp or Miss Fortune.

    The Jokester/Weekly Jokes

    1. All RPA rules apply when it comes to Mature jokes.
    2. Offensive language (other than with rare M rated jokes), images and terms will not be accepted.
    3. All jokes will be passed onto Imp to pick from.
    4. Top five picks will be posted in the next issue.
    5. To show a little love, jokes or humorous images/posts/blogs must be linked back to their original sources on RPA. Just so the people can get some rep.

    RPA Crossword

    1. Members have until the release of the next issue to enter. Send your completed crosswords via PM to G or Miss Fortune
    2. The first five members to correctly complete the crossword will receive rep based on completion.
    3. Answers will be given in the next issue with the new crossword.
    4. No cheating! Sharing answers is a no-no and will result in you being removed from submitting completed puzzles.

    The Skeptic Review

    1. Multiple topics of entertainment will be covered by the writer of this article.
    2. Movies, television shows as well as games and more are up for discussion.
    3. Reviews will not be one sided. Positive and negative reviews will be seen based on the writer's choice.

    Horoscopes

    1. Horoscopes ranging from witty things in aspects all around RPA involving each Zodiac.
    2. During each House of the Zodiac (i.e, the month long time line for each house) a larger version of of the Zodiac will be written.
    3. Monthly, special mentions to members falling under the certain Zodiac. These members do not get special contributor awards.

    Ask Column

    4. All questions relating to the Ask Column is to be sent to Merry Gentry. Submissions and the writer(s) will remain anonymous.
    5. If criticism is given, please be respectful with your differing opinions.
