As far as i know it was logars order to corrupt hsi brother. i think it explains it all in one of the horus heresy books, but i don't have that one. i'm just going by what i've pieced together from various fluff sources over the years. unfortunately games workshop, especially 40k has a problem with contradicting themselves, over and over. so who really know.

Ollanius Pius was the man who stood up to Horus on his flagship when the emperor was about to lose. Horus flayed the man's soul from his body and that's what clued the Emperor in on the fact that Horus had to be stopped.

Here a poem about it:

Also, Ollanius Pius is HUMAN. GW Retconned him into being a perpetual, but in original canon lore, he was just another Guardsman.

Jarms is right - we're all 40K fans, but lore debates not related to the sibject matter of the actual RP should be taken to the appropriate discussion thread (or to PM), so that it doesn't make it hard for players to find the actually relevant stuff.
