BASICS
-------------------
Colors: His hair was once black, but through stress, age, and even a couple experiments on himself, his hair has greyed a bit, giving it a multi-shaded look. His beard hasn't greyed much, if at all, however, and still grows in dark. His eyes are a darker shade of the light, icy blue color. His gages are black, as are his pants and rings, but his belt and coat still retain as bright of a white coloration as the Post-Change world he lives in will allow. His sweater is a dark greyish-violet, and bring out the oceanic color of his eyes, making them appear darker than they are.
Other Info:- Is around 6'4" or 193.04 cm.; he's a very tall man. Also has broad shoulders, a fit body really, and is riddled in sewn up scars.
- The PokeAccessories he wears are all genuine
- Typically keeps his lab coat only over one shoulder for comfort reasons, putting his Arcanine tail over his left shoulder instead. On the rare occasion he does put his lab coat on properly, the Arcanine tail barely misses the ground as it hangs from a short chain on the back of his belt
- Doesn't allow anyone but Hiei/Reckless to address him as Dr. Rin, or by his first name at all actually.

BIO/HISTORY
-------------------
Professor Osamu. Dr. Rin. Rin Osamu.
No matter what you know him by, he's certainly got a lot going for him. Black market deals, high ranking in Team Aqua, both a Professor and PokeDoctor even Post-Change... Ah, but I'm getting ahead of myself. Let me start at the beginning.
Osamu was born and raised in Lilycove City for the first 10 years of his life before the standard question of all children was asked: "Would you like to be a Pokemon Trainer?" But it was almost silly to ask, because in those days, who didn't want to travel the world and train pokemon? So, as many parents did in the towns that didn't have a professor to do it for them, Osamu's parents bestowed him with his first pokemon: an Eevee. With a deep-rooted excitement to help his new friend grow, little Rin set off to learn about the world, catch pokemon, and overall just to figure himself out. He took part in many things that nearly everyone else does - filling up his pokedex, challenging gym leaders and collecting badges, sometimes even taking part in contests - and humored the thought of becoming a Master and going after the Legendaries for a while. But when it came down to it, Osamu didn't find himself as passionate about those sorts of things as everyone else he met with those dreams was, for he was more intrigued by what he could learn along the way than he was at reaching the end goal. As a result, he decided to tackle a new dream: become a Professor and Doctor.
Settling on a team of 6 Pokemon to focus on and keep for company, he either freed the rest, or put them in a day care or ranch - anywhere they could roam, really - and decided he wouldn't force growth upon his pokemon, but let them grow by themselves. The realization they could grow by themselves when not confined to a small mechanical ball was what sparked his desire to learn whatever he could about the traditional vs. the nontraditional values of his society. He started attending one of the numerous PokeSchools out there, as well as setting out to meet and learn from every Professor he could find, even traveling outside of Hoenn every once in a while, but never for too long or often. He found he like Johto and Hoenn better than anywhere else, and that realization brought him to another one: where to settle and when? Thus at age 15 he decided that it was high time that he start setting himself up somewhere he could work in peace, somewhere he'd be able to learn and grow just as he'd always wanted, somewhere he could be confident saying "I'm Professor Osamu, PokeDoctor and Professor of..." blank. And that's just what he did.
He ended up deciding that straying too far from home and going all the way to Johto would probably be less beneficial in the end, especially when he can always visit. So it just came down to the specific Hoenn-based location he wanted to stop and actually live at. After much debate with himself and even discussing [however he could manage] with his party about where they most preferred, Osamu rooted himself in the Petalburg woods, even going so far as to build his own house/lab/make-shift PokeCentre with the help of some kind folk in Petalburg City.
Life was looking up for Rin. He had his own home, his own space to work in, without anyone to tell him how it needed to be done or in what order. He had freedom to go where he wanted, learn what he wanted, do what he wanted; not just finishing school assignments or filling up a pokedex for some other lazier Professor. The best part had to be the lab coat for him. The moment he put that lab coat on it all just felt...right. Like the final piece of the puzzle was put in place.
But it just wasn't enough... Osamu wanted more.
More knowledge, more to do, more to work with, more to discuss when it came to traditional and nontraditional values. Osamu wasn't satisfied with just helping pokemon and teaching people; he wanted something he could offer the world. He wanted a change...and that started with Hiei.
During an escapade up by Mt. Chimney, Hiei found himself in a dangerous situation, stuck on a rock too high up to climb down from and too steep and far from the path to climb back up. Without rope, he was stuck. Fang, Hiei's closest friend and packmate, went to find help. The Mightyena clearly couldn't speak, however, and found herself struggling to appear as more than a noisy lost dog. But coincidentally enough, Professor Osamu, who had spent the last six years since setting himself up in the Petalburg Woods, studying communication between pokemon and human alike, saw the distress in Fang's eyes and came to Hiei's aid. Originally there to study volcanic ash at Mt. Chimney with help from a few friends Fallabor Town, Osamu and Hiei stumbled upon a very unlikely friendship that day, and Hiei even ended up going back with Dr. Rin [as he fondly addressed the man] to become his new apprentice.
Osamu was impressed by the incredible amount of knowledge the 13-year-old prodigy already possessed, and found that not only was he teaching, but learning as well. Their agreements about the misuse and dependency most people had on technology led them to constantly have their companions around them, and thus their pokemon even formed bonds with each other as well. Their lives seemed almost perfect, too good to be true, but nonetheless actually occurring. From the friendship, Osamu even found himself making sense of his spirituality through his education, and did his best to pass that on to Hiei as well.
But things got a bit out of hand when during a ceremonial prayer, Hiei came to Dr. Rin and misunderstood his actions. The pokemon parts he'd adorned himself with weren't to be confused with any sick obsession, but a calling of their spirits. Why didn't matter, however, not now. Hiei had already gone, drawing his own conclusions and wanting no part of Osamu's work anymore. It was too much for a child to be able to cope with and handle, and reluctantly Professor Osamu accepted that.
He formulated a plan to start anew, possibly to even go to Johto this time around, to root himself there as he once considered, and leave Hiei's life peacefully forever. Safely getting his party out of harm's way, Osamu took only what he needed and prepared to burn down his life's work before going on his way.
Then
it happened...the moment that changed lives...the moment that changed
everything...
Professor Osamu awoke in the middle of a rainstorm at the crack of thunder, a foggy memory making him wonder exactly why he was lying in the middle of his lab with a gallon of lighter fluid in one hand and a box of matches in the other. There was no time to figure things out, however, before the new Hiei was on his doorstep, face bloodied and scarred beyond recognition, with a Poochyena tail and the words, "I understand."
That day, Rin felt was a good of a fresh start as he was going to get, and since then, took part in many a deed that the old Dr. Rin wouldn't have considered important nor ethical. But times had changed, things had changed, and Hiei was there to support and work with him still regardless of their preveious misunderstands, so Osamu did what he felt he must. Prior to the Change, Rin found himself sucked into the black market, buying and selling PokeParts for his spiritual purposes,
mostly to and from Lavender Town, for both the sake of keeping in touch with the Johto-Kanto regions affairs, as well as to rescue as many dead pokemon as he could, thinking that his spiritual methods of conduct where the only way to rest their souls. Post-Change there was far more of a need for money, so Rin reluctantly introduced Hiei to the trade. Hughes was better at selling things and overall became a far better businessman, but Rin certainly did his fair share, and the two ended up better off than most during this desperate time. In the midst of this, Rin even began researching how to use the dead to fix the broken, mostly for the sake of his friend, Reckless [formerly Hiei], as well as for those effected like him by The Change. Osamu ended up preforming many experiments on the all too willing faceless PokeManiac, replacing Reckless's canines with the fangs of his now dead Poochyena, replacing his eyes with those of a Duskull, and even attaching Houndoom Ribs. He justified his actions by avoiding wastefulness of their parts, and kept many a record of all his findings, hoping that one day the research could be implemented to change the world not just back to the peacefulness it once had, but a better one than it was before. He wanted nothing more than to heal the broken and give use to useless parts.
He knew he'd need more than just brains, however, he'd need resources, a reputation, influence... If he wanted to help change the world again, he'd have to do more than run some tests back in his lab. So he formulated a plan.
Reckless had told him that before he became Reckless, one of his former dreams was to become a leader of Team Magma. And Professor Osamu had practically grown up with Team Aqua back in his hometown, Lilycove. Joining them would be easy enough with the knowledge they had to offer, and better yet the teams' influence and resources would be everything they needed to change the world. So the two decided it was well worth the deed - the ends justified the means - and split up, for now. As Reckless made his way up in ranks as a Post-Change Magma member, Osamu did the same in Aqua, and once they were high enough in rank, the two of them suggested forming an alliance. Surprisingly enough, the teams agreed.
The alliance being formed was the first time Rin and Reckless met since joining, and the changes were clear. While they once were friends and allies, they just couldn't seem to come to an agreement anymore. Osamu didn't want to change the world the same way he did prior to joining Team Aqua. He wasn't satisfied settling for merely healing pokemon and people and learning new things along the way. What Professor Osamu wanted now was to become a much needed world leader, heading the new Change and discovering what had happened to spark the first one. He wanted to help Team Magma and Team Aqua heal the earth and water as much as he wanted to heal the inhabitants, and he wanted to use the change to his advantage, altering the methods from pre-Change to make the post-Change world even more worth living in. But Hiei didn't agree, and alas quit Magma, disappearing from Osamu's life in the process.
So for 6 long years, Osamu has progressed and progressed all the more, simultaneously attempting to track his friend again and hopefully change the boy's mind. After all, he was but a child then. Maybe now that he's grown he'll understand the importance of Osamu's work.
