Plot
Spoiler:Such a nonsensical concept as time had long since been forgotten after the Earth had been destroyed. Decades upon decades passing by without anyone so much as attempting at recalling the days when calendars and watches dictated our daily activities. Lost are these times and lost are the morals, though somehow technology still continued to triumph.
With no knowledge for the invasion, thirty-three space stations were created out of curiosity. Could we live in space? Would living out there be more beneficial? What may we learn from doing so? However, these stations were not used for their original intention and became homes from the refugees who managed to escape the crisis of Earth falling. Details of what exactly occurred to result in our present predicament no longer exist. The original humans who survived have all since died, leaving behind several generations to thrive — or die — after them.
Only twenty-three of the thirty-three space stations still exist, at least to our knowledge. Two were destroyed as the people residing within them fought for power only to perish beneath each other. Most perished due to a lack of engineers and pilots, resulting in crashing into the sun. The last few were merely lost or found destroyed with no known reasons why.
The enemy to the human race was unknown until recent generations managed to find a means to see the seemingly invisible foe. By this time many people were under the impression the threat ceased to exist due to no longer having massive attacks thrust upon them. However, deep in the shadows the creatures seeking to bring our kind to an end continued reeking havoc here and there in little areas we commonly did not think twice to question. Some snipped cords here, casualties under falling debris, and so on.
But back to the technology our geniuses managed to produce to prevent an epidemic from occurring. Through the usage of Decimate All Goblins, or DAG, they were able to create what appeared to be a new virtual reality game on the surface where the player attacks creatures resembling goblins all around the ship. To the player they are merely killing fictional creatures when in reality they are taking out the translucent offender plaguing them for years. For some reason unknownst to us presently the monsters cannot directly harm us, thus they only mess around with our environment to cause hazardous situations hoping in our demise. Not only that, but we can only directly kill them through the usage of the DAG system.
The DAG is available for those who can afford it and has become quite the popular phenomenon across the remaining stations, namely in its creator: Station #26, also known as Erio. There are a select chosen few known as the best of the best in the game that are brought to this specific location to advance in what they think is nothing more than a game. This is where you come in. You are one of these few individuals. Welcome to Erio.Rules
Spoiler:1. All RPA rules apply.
2. Whatever I say goes — no exceptions.
3. While humans are the primary race to be played, aliens do exist. There are also half aliens, half humans. However, there is nothing specific to be listed for them. You can feel free to submit one, but know that I will judge your sheet much harsher than I would a regular human sheet. Whatever alien race you make up, assuming you do, CANNOT BE THE ENEMY.
4. If you plan on playing an alien or an alien hybrid, then you must PM me PRIOR to sending in your sheet. Tell me what you plan on calling your alien race, what it looks like, etc. Upon getting approved through PM, then you may make your sheet. This is to ensure no one submits OP alien races.
5. While the DAG does cost money it is not only for the rich elitists. It is relatively affordable for the middle class as well, but if you are super poor then you won't have one. Pretty simple.
6. This RP is M. Violence is fine, but don't go overboard. Cussing is fine, but don't act like an eight year old who just found out about the word fuck. Keep is classy, not trashy, babes.
7. You do not have to be from Station #26 — Erio. However, you must be pretty phenomenal for your crew to have transport you to this station to fight the monsters. In fact, you better have some epic justification as to how it is you are so awesome to be chosen in the first place. No frail, loser characters here.
8. This RP is semi-literate to literate when it comes to typical RPing literacy ratings. This means I expect at least three paragraphs per post; and the posts must contain proper spelling and grammar.
9. For your occupation you can feel free to belong to a job pertaining to a space station, such as pilot, engineer, etc. or you can have odd jobs that may be in the Marketplace areas. I am going to try to be open with this, so just avoid coming up with something asinine like sheep herder.
10. Thoroughly read before sending me any questions. I absolutely hate getting questions that could have easily been resolved if the person had simply read what I wrote down in the first place.
11. While I will not accept frail, loser characters; I will also not be accepting completely OP (overpowered) characters. I expect thorough explanations as to why/how your character is good at what they excel at. Don't just say, "Bob is good at martial arts." Which martial art? How long did he train? How did it make him be awesome at DAG? etc.
12. Maximum of two characters per player; I would prefer you only have one.
13. Character death may occur. If your character does die, then feel free to discuss with me about possibly entering a new character. Depending on what it happening in the plot I may allow it. Otherwise, suck it up, buttercup.
14. Only post in the IC after your character has been accepted in the OOC.
15. DO NOT MESS UP THE CODING IN THE CHARACTER SHEET, PLEASE. I am VERY anal retentive and will not approve your sheet if coding is not how it is supposed to be, even if everything else is perfect. Indulge me. Be nice to my coding, please.
16. No flaming, powerplaying, godmoding, etc.
17. If you read and understand these rules, then put a picture of Lemongrab from Adventure Time in your reply to this topic. Not in your character sheet, but in a reply to the OOC topic. He amuses me.About DAG
Spoiler:Decimate All Goblins, henceforth DAG, was created on the 26th space station known as Erio. It was introduced to the masses that consist of the remaining human race as a videogame where the player simply destroys the, "goblins," that appear on their screens. A scoreboard is kept and updated every day with the latest high scores, which are judged based on how the goblins were killed. 1,000,000 and above by the end of one day will result in automatic recruitment to join the elite in Erio.
Point System
Dead in the Eye (either eye) — 5000
Head Shot (not the eyes) — 1500
"Heart" — 700
Inside the Mouth — 500
Chest (not heart) — 300
Anywhere Else — 50
There have been three versions of the DAG helmet created, displayed above. Version 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0, respectively. The core differences being the weight upon the user's head and the weapons that are offered. Certain weapons are not compatible with other versions of the software. However, users are not limited to one weapon. Weapon limitations are merely what you can afford to purchase and how much you can carry effectively.
Version 1.0 wields heavier, bulkier weapons than the later updates. Light machine guns and rocker launchers, to be precise. The latter's explosion only effects the creature being shot, while anything else around it will merely feel an odd gust of wind.
Version 2.0 contains assault rifles and shotguns.
Version 3.0 is the only one that can wield sniper rifles, which were originally going to be released with Version 1.0. However, they did not finalize the piece for mass production until sometime after 2.0 became available in stores. Because of this they adjusted it to fit 3.0 instead, despite wanting to make each new version have lighter weapons as they progressed. This resulted in 3.0 having the sniper rifle option as well as revolvers, pistols, and submachine guns. The Space Stations
Spoiler:The following space stations have long since been obsolete/destroyed: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 15, 18, 28, 32.
Each station has water preservation and oxygen purification systems. However, the quality of the water and oxygen varies on each station, namely on how many workers they have specialized in maintaining them. All stations have basic defense mechanisms and weapons they can utilize if they have a crew onboard who knows how to work them. Some ships have better weaponry and defenses than others due to specifically being made for combat.
Space Station #26 — Erio
The largest space station where the head government is located as well as the creators of the DAG technology. It has some general marketplace related areas, though nothing overly big. Originally it was built to maintain wildlife and plant life, thus they gigantic greenhouse sphere taking up over a fourth of the ship. Aside from the government officials and soldiers, most people in Erio are relatively relaxed. It almost feels like a sort of suburb where somehow, despite its massive size, everyone knows everyone.
Space Station #4 — Liyu
The Marketplace Station. Liyu is well known for their vast variety — and quantity — of items they have to offer. Originally designed to be a massive cargo ship, thus allowing it to store an exponential amount of wares inside. While there are soldiers and a crew to run the ship; it mostly consists of merchants. In the lower sections you can find a small black market, but nothing in comparison to Space Station #21; which is where most of those wares come from.
Space Station #7 — Cody
Cody is a very small space station which was meant to hold a minute number of individuals purely for research purposes. Present day it is what it is used for as many doctors, nurses, and the like are all sent to Cody to get a grasp on diseases plaguing men from the past and new pathogens being introduced due to contact with new lifeforms. They also study the genetic capabilities of inter-species mating to conclude if having such an offspring is wise or results in serious health defects.
Space Station #9 — Sasoom Binge
No one really cares what Sasoom Binge used to be when it was first made, honestly. All that matters is now it is essentially a hip and happening bar. There are living areas within it, but it is usually meant for those who work there. A select few rooms treated more like hotels are also offered there to prevent drunk people from being morons in space. This space station isn't taken seriously, though enjoyable to hang out at. Many broken souls can be found here drinking their lives away.
Space Station #10 — Yaskin Lee
Another station built to house a variety of wildlife. Well over 2/3rds of the entire ship is purely a greenhouse dome where animals they managed to salvage were put. Many of these creatures have long since evolved to adapt to the new environment and now intermingle with the alien species that has also been put inside along with them. The creatures are all docile, so no one is concerned with them living there. Many of the residents live within the dome alongside the animals. It is also an ideal vacation spot for people who enjoy camping.
Space Station #11 — Oin
The waste station. Many of the poorer space station inhabitants reside in this particular ship due to no one else wanting to live in the poor atmosphere there. Wastes are deposited here to be sorted through be their respective employees to determine if the items can be recycled or not. It is a very hazardous environment and not good for one's health.
Space Station #12 — War
Primary source for ammunition. It is treated as the armory station storing the extra weapons, supplies, and ammunition. Those who live inside are trained from a young age how to take care of the items inside and to be respectful to their superiors. Many of them become soldiers, leaving the station for various duties related to it.
Space Station #13 — Assego
One of two hospital stations. The only people who reside here are those who work within the hospital and those who need the attention of the doctors there. The residential area is purely for the workers, while the patients will remain in their rooms the duration of their stay.
Space Station #14 — Xoidas
Xoidas is the other hospital station and is the one you got to if you can’t afford going to Assego. There is a small residential area for the workers, but there aren’t many to begin with causing problems due to not enough doctors being able to tend to the patients. Most of the equipment needed to run a proper hospital was sent to Assego, unaware of just how necessary having more than one hospital would be.
Space Station #16 — Mo
Mo is dedicated to food recreation. Inside are makeshift farms to the best of their ability out in space. The food is subpar compared to what they had on Earth — from what they have been told — but they have several specialists working on improving them.
Space Station #17 — Lappokoi
The education station. While some of the other stations do have schools within them, like Erio, many of their residents will get sent here for schooling instead. Typically those going to school here will remain in the dorms. There is no set grading system based on age, instead students are judged primarily by their skills. This causes the classes to be very mixed in ages, but seems to be more efficient.
The education system there starts from about preschool and goes to the highest present day degree available. They loosely based it on the old ways Earth used to run schooling, however they had to adjust due to the loss of information. Previous teachings lost have since been replaced with findings from Erio's top notch scientists, information gathered from non-humans, and other resource means.
Those not from Lappokoi typically will not begin schooling there until high school or later, typically more so for college.
Space Station #20 — Juniper
Purely for battle purposes. Juniper has high defenses and weaponry making it perfect for battle if it should ever come up. The residents on board are only those approved for being on a combat crew and many of them also have a residential area on another space station where they have their family — assuming they have one.
Space Station #21 — Avarice
The black market. No one is sure how they get their items, but if there is something off the wall or illegal you desire then you can definitely find it on Avarice. It is also the only space station with a casino; it’s nothing fancy, but it exists and is strictly run. No bullshit is tolerated on Avarice and they have very heavily gunned guards that will toss you back into the ship you came from without a second though. Or into space. No one can hear you scream in space.
Space Station #22 — Newt
Like Juniper, Newt is solely for combat purposes. Those residing on Newt are all fully trained for battle, war, and the likes that can be encountered in space. Unlike Juniper, Newt is smaller — hence the name — with less crew members. However, they have higher powered weaponry that makes up for their lack of size.
Space Station #19; 23-26; 30 — Aoi Sasalm
Space Stations #23-26 were once each separate space stations, but as time passed by the residents of the stations decided to merge them all into one gigantic colony station. Two were reconstructed into chambers purely for oxygen preservation; two for water purification; one became a greenhouse; and the last and largest one being dedicated to the residential area. They have created their own greenhouse dome where they grow the plants they can manage in such an atmosphere and are relatively independent of the other stations. Activities are still reported to the government system in Erio and laws are obeyed.
Space Station #27 — Grasht
While all space stations do have a basic, relatively small, dungeon area; Grasht is the designated prison station. Anyone who steps out of line in a drastic enough fashion will be sentenced here for life. The majority of the prisoners here all have murderer, rapist, etc. stamped onto their forwards in a figurative sense. Petty thieves are typically dealt with at the station they did the crime at, though
Space Station #29 — Reggie
A battleship of moderate size. It looks identical to Space Station #31, except its station numbers on the sides are painted green
Space Station #31 — Gregory
A battleship of moderate size. It looks identical to Space Station #29, except its station numbers on the sides are painted yellow.
Space Station #33 — Killswitch
Bandits, thieves, cannibals, and the like all reside on Killswitch. Originally the station was named Zeus when it was first sent out and viewed as the best of the best. However, it was quickly overrun by the likes that own it today. Due to lacking in technical skills they have not been able to properly power the weaponry on the ship, but no one dares go near it anyway. None of the other space stations will come here unless they have a death wish.
