Thanks, Siksta.
I signed up for a CPR and defibrillator usage class ;(
I did a bit of research at the Irish Heart Foundation website and found that with every passing minute, a person’s chance of survival decreases by 10% without CPR.
So you really can make a huge difference in the time it takes a medic to arrive.
So I think it’s time I learn how to do it properly, as I don’t want to watch a third person die of a heart attack right in front of me.

EVERYONE should know CPR. Even if you don't get certified, watch a YouTube video on it. Knowing something is better than nothing.
Although in my experience, I think people are trepidatious about doing it as they think it makes them responsible for that person if they were to fail.
6/10 CPR wont save someones life alone, but 10/10 it is always better than nothing. And if anything, keeping blood to the brain and oxygen in the blood, dramatically increases the possibility of recovery if medics were to revive.
And unfortunatly sometimes that doesn't happen. But its so much easier to handle, mentally, knowing you did everything you could do than just staring.
Sorry about your co-worker. It's a hard burden to carry, seeing a death. Good luck with your quest for learning. Most hospitals offer a free class, here in the US anyway.

~~~Um...No?~~~
Here in Ireland you get certified, and you have to re-take the course every two years.
Upper body strength is just... not a thing I have heeeh, so not sure how long I'd be able to keep it up... so I am going to learn how to use a defibrillator too, as they are usually in most public spaces. (Basically, after seeing that man in Vietnam doing those chest compressions, I realised it is very labour intensive. That guy was *exhausted*, but fair play to him. But like you said, something is better than nothing, and if more people know how to do it, you can work more in rotation.
Let me guess - you're in architecture or engineering x_x
Or medicine...
Bahahah. Oh, Siks. *pinches cheeks*
