And abusive people will never stop being abusive. It’s one of the underlying natures of the world, and it will never go away.

I disagree with that quote. Yes, look at life with logic. Use your brain. Listen. Observe. Think. Learn. But also act with emotion. Do things that matter. Use both logic and emotion in everything you do otherwise you never truly think things through or experience the things you thought so hard about.

You can't save people from themselves. It took me so long to learn that one.

I think my parents are the perfect example of how total emotion (my mom) or total logic (my dad) can be destructive to your life. Both are unhealthy in my experiences with them.

So as with everything... equilibrium is key.

Eh the world and humans are just not built for that sorta thing. Mean people will never stop being mean, but you can easily disconnect your emotions from things and keep them in check with logic. And logic and sense can tell you when to let the emotions loose.

There are ways to stop mean people from being mean, but most of them are illegal in most countries, these days. People tended to be much more polite in certain 19th century cultures where everyone owned a gun and knew how to use it, for example.

However, no amount of emotion can ever change or even determine an objective truth. A pen will always be a pen, and no matter how much it feels like a pencil, it will never be one. Use logic to determine the objective truth, as well as a means to plot a path to your emotional goals. And use mind over matter to pay no mind to people who don't matter.

All I was saying was that too much of either can be destructive.

Like when it causes you to emotionally neglect your wife and children, in the case of my dad. Great with numbers though. And stocks. *face palm*

Sometimes people surprise you...not so much in that they change, but more along the lines of doing something unexpected...such as not in line with their character that you have grown accustomed to. Certain things are repressed until the boiling point is reached.

Hard to explain what I mean...
