The Story: Three Years after the events of the webcomic, the protagonists of the series graduate from Middle School and enter High School where they continue to fight Ghosts and Spirits under the Activity Consortium with a new leader. But this is not their story. This concerns a new group of spectrals who have now come under the auspices of the Activity Club at Mayview Middle School.
Spirits and Tools have been disappearing from all over the world. No one knows who or what is responsible, but all the leads all point to Mayview. Mr. Spender's new recruits have been tasked with uncovering the conspiracy and putting the person or organization responsible on ice. Problem is, these kids are mostly inexperienced at the whole ghostbusting scene and still have yet to learn how to control their powers and work together as a team.
Basic Terms:
Spectral: A Human that can see and interact with Spirits, Ghosts and other supernatural beings and Phenomena. They possess native spectral energy and can use it to make constructs or fire it bursts without the aid of a Spirit. However, with the use of a tool or by direct possession they can essentially use a Superpower. They can be physically harmed by a Spirit. Spectrals can be subdivided into three classes. Tool Users, Meduims, and Spectral Fist users.
Spectral Energy: A tinted energy generated by Spectrals. This energy also comprises Spirits and Ghosts. Comes in many different colors. Spectrals are only capable of using a tool with matching spectral energy. Same holds true for Mediums. Capable of being fired in a powerful burst or being made into a Construct of some form for fighting.
Spectral Fist: Martial arts style using spectral energy to fight. Practitioners do not use tools and are not mediums, believing their own energy is sufficient to fight whatever they meet and that tools and Spirits are merely a crutch.
Medium: A human possessed by a Spirit. Their possession is manifested by a distinguishing physical characteristic. If a non-Spectral human is possessed by a Spirit, they will become a Spectral over time with energy color that matches Can also use a tool as well. (Even though they techically ARE a tool)
Spirit: An entitity made of spectral energy. Capable of interacting both passively and actively with Spectrals. Upon near death, they inhabit an object ( A tool) or a person ( a Medium). Once their spectral energy is recharged from feeding off ghosts or human spectral energy, they depart. These beings were never alive on the material plane.
Grudge: A powered up, (Or in Pokemon terms, Evolved) Spirit. Upon defeat, they USUALLY revert back to a Spirit. A Grudge is capable of possessing a Tool.
Ghosts: A former human made up entirely of spectral energy. Do regenerate their energy but far slower than humans. Eventually just fade into nothingness. Can sometimes use tools, but often are completely absorbed by the spirit inside
Tool: An object possessed by a weakened spirit. The powers of the Spirit inside are capable of being used by a spectral as long as the Spectral's energy color matches that of the spirit. In exchange for the use of powers, the Spirit feeds off excess Spectral Energy from the host Spectral.
